Hope everyone's had a nice long weekend!

Congratulations on positive scans lately! I'm getting quite nervous about mine, it's tomorrow. My partner isn't the least bit worried. I'm so glad we're the total opposites with these things.

I have pretty bad tree pollen allergies from end of Feb to mid-April, and just because I'm such an worrier I haven't taken antihistamines which has been a struggle. I've also been told it's totally OK to take cetirizine and loratadine, it's just my neurotic personality getting the best of me.

And yes, very weird and bonkers dreams here too but they're all on the fun side so I'm just enjoying them, haha.

Londongirl87 · 11/04/2023 13:50

Good luck today @laurapalmer22 ! I hope all goes well :-)

My 20 weeks scan is on Thursday and I am also starting to get very anxious!

Ally345 · 11/04/2023 14:04

Hi all,

Great to hear re scans going well.

Mine is not for another 2 weeks when I am 21+1 (also having anxiety over all of the little things!)

Just wondering, at the 21 week scan were you offered a MAT B1 form? My employer won't let me log my planned maternity leave until I can provide such but it's a bit ambiguous as to how you actually get it.

Thanks

Preggobelly · 11/04/2023 14:14

@Ally345 im the same with my scan. Mines is another 2 weeks away at 21 weeks and it feels like such a long wait! But hopefully it will come by quickly.

With my first pregnancy I got my Matb1 form from my midwife at one of my appointments after the 20 week scan but not sure when. Maybe my 22 week appt but I’m not sure. Hope this helps though.

DandelionPockets · 11/04/2023 15:35

Hope everyone had a great Easter!

good luck for today @laurapalmer22, let us know how it goes. Got my scan tomorrow at half 4 and also getting a bit anxious! Trying to distract myself today, I imagine tomorrow is going to go verrrry sloowwwwly.

Anyone else feeling quite tight in the belly area, can definitely tell the growing is ramping up now. I just keep moisturising to help the skin as much as possible 😂

@Ally345 I got my matb1 form after the scan at the hospital.

Ally345 · 11/04/2023 16:17

Thanks @Nik84 and @Preggobelly, hopefully I will get this soon after the scan then :)

allgoodthings84 · 11/04/2023 18:04

I hope your scan went well @laurapalmer22

my scan is Thursday too @Londongirl87. really early so hoping be easier to get a parking space as last time it was mid morning and took 45 mins to get a space! Luckily we left lots of time

@Ally345 you usually get the MATB1 at the midwife appointment after the 20 week scan. When that is is slightly different in different areas.

laurapalmer22 · 11/04/2023 18:30

My scan went well, all looks normal and the little one was very actively bouncing around in there.

I didn't get my MATB1 after my scan so I guess I'll get during my next midwife appointment.

Best of luck to everyone having scans soon! ❤️

isitaline97 · 11/04/2023 19:33

@laurapalmer22 congratulations! Glad everything went well 🥰

@DandelionPockets good luck tomorrow! I'm definitely feeling quite tighter and rounded? 😂 I was laid in bed this morning having a feel and my stomach seems to have really ballooned this past week!

I also have my scan Thursday I'm excited and apprehensive all the same time!

cinnamonbiscuit · 12/04/2023 17:16

How is everyone doing?

I’ve just realised I have a midwife appointment booked at the hospital at the end of April when I’ll be 24 weeks, and I can’t figure out what appointment this is? I thought that second babies didn’t need another appointment till 28 weeks, and I’ve got a GTT booked in at the end of May so it isn’t that. Does anyone else have an appointment booked at that time?

I’m happy to be seen but just wondering if they’ve made a mistake?

allgoodthings84 · 12/04/2023 20:10

@cinnamonbiscuit I have one at 24 weeks and it’s my second so maybe something they do now. I didn’t have a face to face 16 weeks appointment though it was over the phone.

divorcingmumoftwo · 12/04/2023 20:11

I've got one at 24 weeks and it's my 3rd.

cinnamonbiscuit · 12/04/2023 20:29

@allgoodthings84 @divorcingmumoftwo ah good to hear- like I say I’m more than happy to have the appointment, just confused because I’m sure I didn’t have one at that point with dd1 three years ago! It must just be something they do now 😊

cinnamonbiscuit · 12/04/2023 20:31

Also just remembered my community midwife emphasising that I wouldn’t see her again till 28 weeks at my 16 week appointment, but this is a hospital appointment so obviously has come from the antenatal team there🤷‍♀️

DandelionPockets · 12/04/2023 21:05

Had my 20 week scan today. Baby looks healthy and was doing back flips. We found out we're having a boy 😁

One thing that came up is that I have a low-lying placenta so another scan at 32weeks to see if it could potentially mean a C-section. Not too concerned and will see how it goes.

It is amazing how well developed they are at this point, hard to believe it's only half way through!

allgoodthings84 · 12/04/2023 21:38

@DandelionPockets I’m so glad things went well today at your scan.

It’s great you’re being positive about seeing how it goes and it can still move. A positive is you will see baby again and they will be able to do what’s best 😊

DandelionPockets · 12/04/2023 21:46

@allgoodthings84 thank you! They said it was 12mm from cervix so only has to move a little bit over the next three months 🤞

OP posts:
allgoodthings84 · 12/04/2023 22:18

@DandelionPockets fingers crossed for you 😊

cinnamonbiscuit · 12/04/2023 22:44

@DandelionPockets so glad your scan went well! I’ve got a rescan next week and one of the things they’re checking is placenta position, the sonographer couldn’t see the cervix at all so I think she suspected low lying placenta. I hope yours gets out of the way for you!

DandelionPockets · 13/04/2023 10:13

@cinnamonbiscuit thank you. let me know how the re-scan goes 🙂

Londongirl87 · 13/04/2023 12:36

I have my scan in 2 hours and I managed to stay more or less calm until now (keeping myself busy planning the move to our new house next weekend, and buying this I don't need on Amazon... am I the only one who does that when I am stressed? 😆), but I am starting to get really nervous!

allgoodthings84 · 13/04/2023 12:47

@Londongirl87 I hope your scan goes well today. I’m an emotional buyer. I spend when I’m sad, excited, happy, worried 😂

I had my scan nice and early this morning at 8.30. Was seen on time but was still there 1.5 hours as baby wasn’t playing ball. Everything is all good they managed to get everything checked in the end. They couldn’t get the heart chambers checked properly or the lips so I was sent out to walk around and do star jumps 😂 after that they managed to get the heart all checked but baby was covering their face and even though wriggling around ended up looking down with head turned so had to go back out while they scanned someone else and eat a mars bar and drink some cold water. This worked and was able to get the lips checked. The sonographer really didn’t want to have to get me back in another day just to check the lips. Baby was moving plenty just not into the positions needed.

The sonographer said she’s fairly sure baby is a girl and showed us and we had the private scan which also showed a girl so we are confident now. We didn’t tell the sonographer today that we already knew as didn’t want it to influence anything even though I’m sure they wouldn’t let it anyway

I also had my whooping cough injection while there.

Londongirl87 · 13/04/2023 12:55

@allgoodthings84 So happy to hear that it went well! I had to do the star jumps for the 12 weeks scan, and reallllllly hope to not have to do this again today!

Congratulations for your baby girl!

allgoodthings84 · 13/04/2023 13:06

@Londongirl87 yea I felt pretty silly while people watching in the waiting room probably all thought “hope I don’t have to do that” 😂. I was really nervous before the scan so was glad it was early. It’s the unknown. I know she’s alive in there as can feel her kicking but you just don’t know medically if all ok. For some reason before every scan I lay there thinking “ooo I hope there’s a baby there still!” Which is ridiculous as no idea where I think she will have gone even if things not ok! I blame the pregnancy for thinking irrational thoughts.

I did notice that everyone there who was in for the 20 weeks scan was a lot bigger than me (bump size) then I told myself off for comparing again! She’s measuring normal so it’s just the way I carry as was same with my other child, I had to have growth scans a couple times as bump measuring small. It’s funny as you can tell who’s 12 weeks and who’s 20 weeks. The 12 weeks don’t look pregnant and 20 weeks all have obvious bumps. It was only 12 and 20 weeks scans there, the growth scans and other scans are done in a different area.
