@isitaline97 Thank you, it's nice to finally feel them. They have been low down but I did read in my notes with an anterior placenta to pay attention to the sides and lower tummy. I felt something slightly to the right to begin with and then the kicks were in the middle lower tummy. And from the scan today I could tell that's where her legs were curled up x

cinnamonbiscuit · 04/04/2023 22:19

@DandelionPockets I’ve literally just experienced the exact same thing today for the first time, I keep feeling sudden bursts of pressure on my bladder, so I think she’s now big enough to be pressing against it! Also I’ve been feeling little taps on my left side, so I think she may now be longer than the placenta and I’m finally getting some kicks ❤️

Moni81 · 05/04/2023 05:58

@isitaline97 there are different models to choose from. I live on the edge of small market town neighbouring farms and some wilder areas. If I choose to I can go off road as much as I can but infrastructure is there so the worst I have to deal it is some gravel and terrain is pretty flat..if you live like in lake District then you probably need buggy with massive inflatable wheels. Luckily I dont, I specifically picked model which can be folded to narrow and freestanding with seat so I can easily leave it in porch.

allgoodthings84 · 05/04/2023 13:26

@isitaline97 the perfect prep can be ordered for next day delivery from Amazon so I wouldn’t spend the money unless you know you will use it. I used it from 6 months with my daughter when I started her on formula but I’ll use it straight away this time. You would need a steriliser though for the first 6 months if you’re using bottles for any feeds.

allgoodthings84 · 05/04/2023 13:31

I’m 19+4 today with an anterior placenta and last night I felt the first “consistent” movements as in felt kicks for 45 minutes! They were very obvious too. I’ve been feeling light kicks for around 2 weeks but only one or two at a time and very light and some days nothing so if it was my first I probably wouldn’t have known for sure it was baby. I have had some kicks every so often today too. She definitely seems more active in the evenings

My apps show that baby grows around 10cm crown to rump between week 19-20 so probably why it’s more obvious too. I now finally have a bump. Again it popped yesterday. It’s not big but it’s an obvious baby bump 😊

Londongirl87 · 05/04/2023 14:29

So nice to hear that everyone's scans are going well and you are feeling some movement!
I had a scan this morning at the preterm clinic to check my cervix and it has now increased and has almost a normal length which is so reassuring! We also saw the baby briefly and she was perfectly fine, which was also reassuring. She looks so big now!

My 20 weeks scan is next Thursday at almost 21 weeks, and really looking forward to it. We will probably start buying things after that :-)

Has anyone taken long haul flights during pregnancy? I work for an American company and my team is in Los Angeles and I would like to go and see them one more time before I go on mat leave this summer. It is a 10 hours flight which sounds a bit long, but in business so hopefully with compression socks, some regular walks and hydration, it should be fine? (my midwife said it is but I would love to hear about anyone who has traveled so far away during pregnancy)

allgoodthings84 · 05/04/2023 15:04

@Londongirl87 I think it depends how late in the pregnancy you will be. After 28 weeks I think you need a fit to fly letter from GP and not sure if it affect insurance or not. I think the concern after that is in case something happens and you need to go into hospital etc as sometimes things can happen causing the baby to need to be born immediately and early. It may depend on the airline too.

Ally345 · 05/04/2023 16:29

@Londongirl87 great to hear cervix is measuring normal :)

laurapalmer22 · 05/04/2023 16:54

@Londongirl87 Not super long haul exactly, but I'll be going to NYC at 23/24 weeks, and my midwife had no concerns. She's just making sure I have the fit to fly letter just in case. I'll be going on a short haul (2hr) flight to my home country at 33/34 weeks and hope that'll be OK too.

DandelionPockets · 06/04/2023 13:59

Lovely to hear the positive scan news for the 20weeks scans. Guessing a couple more weeks until everyone has had theirs? Mine is in 5 days 🤞

Thank you as well to those who shared similar stories to mine about baby movement and needing to pee 😂. I'm also definitely starting to get into the always-needing-to-pee phase. I get in bed and 5 mins later busting again...

Felt incredibly tired the last couple of days and a little bit nauseous, wonder if it's a growth spurt? I guess it's normal to have ups and downs in energy levels.

Also, I've probably got about 25 different lists on the go of things to do or buy or remember to read about. But today started an important list... podcast, films and TV shows to watch on maternity leave when I'm trapped in the armchair with a snoozing baby. Need to load up my tablet in advance and buy some wireless headphones. 😁

Sorry, I was meant to post an update after my 20 week scan on Tuesday but work has been very busy this week.

Everything went well, baby is looking nice and healthy 😍 It was great to see all the organs and the little heart beating away! I hope this reassures anyone who hasn't felt any movement yet as I haven't either (and I don't have an anterior placenta).

Question for those of you that already had their scan - how long did yours take? It said in my paperwork that it would be 30 mins but I don't think it was even half that?

laurapalmer22 · 06/04/2023 19:13

@AfterBathingAtBaxters Yay, glad you had a great scan!

Also curious to hear how long people's scans are, because I have a meeting to attend 15mins after mine is meant to end...

cinnamonbiscuit · 06/04/2023 20:32

@AfterBathingAtBaxters I’m a bit confused about this as well. I swear in my first pregnancy the 20 week scan lasted 30 mins and we had to come back for a rescan that time because she couldn’t get a good view of both kidneys. This time, I was barely in there for 15 mins and she said we had run out of time and that she would get me booked in for a rescan. I received the scan report yesterday and the full list of things she couldn’t get is huge! Cerebellum, arms, face, heart, kidneys and placental position. I don’t mind going back for another scan but feeling slightly concerned that they still won’t be able to get everything at round 2! I was surprised at how short the scan was as well.

Stargazer89 · 06/04/2023 21:40

@AfterBathingAtBaxters I had my scan on tuesday and I was in for over 30 mins because they struggled to get a good view of the heart because baby wouldn't get in the right position. I had to go to a different hospital than my usual one and it was really quiet so I think that's why they could go over on time. In my previous pregnancy it was quicker.

I think it depends on what kind of view they can get. I had to empty my bladder to give baby more room to move.

Owlgirl14 · 06/04/2023 22:44

@AfterBathingAtBaxters @laurapalmer22 I got told 30 minutes but it didn't seem that long. Maybe 20 minutes? She said baby was being a bit difficult but she managed to get all the measurements needed within the required time.

I did notice in my file after it said image quality poor and technically difficult examination due to persistent fetal lie. But I don't feel like it was that difficult, I didn't have to move about at all to get baby to move or asked to come back.

allgoodthings84 · 06/04/2023 23:22

My letter says up to 30 minutes but it’s not until next week. I was in my 12 week scan for around 30 minutes as baby wasn’t playing ball so they seem to keep going if they can at the hospital I go to

ILookAtTheFloor · 07/04/2023 06:44

I had my scan yesterday at 19+4 because of the Bank Holidays, I was in and out in 15 minutes and they got all the measurements! It did seem quick. My trust does scans at 36 weeks now as well, I did wonder if it was because they had more scans to do overall? Also, I do think the image quality has improved since I had my previous baby, the tech might be better?

isitaline97 · 07/04/2023 10:53

@Owlgirl14 @Moni81 @allgoodthings84 good advice ladies Thankyou!! I'll definitely hold off buying unnecessary things for now, like you say Amazon and most places are always open 😊

Yes I think I will need some beasty pram tired where I live, it's like an off-road assault course 😂 does anyone have that Emma diary's app? There seems to always be some mega sales on there for prams, things like mammas and papas, silver cross. £1300 reduced to like £600/£700 but it all seems to good to be true 😂

Congrats to everyone who had their scans this week, surprised also at how short they have been for you! My letter says 30-45 minutes! We will see what happens, 6 days to go for me.

Hope your all feeling good and manage to enjoy the bank holiday weekend 😊

allgoodthings84 · 07/04/2023 16:10

The bank holiday is why my scan is nearly 21 weeks as I’m 20 weeks tomorrow

Nik84 · 08/04/2023 14:02

I had my 20 week scan today, all is well 😊 Baby was flying about so active, it was lovely to see. I feel so relieved 😌 love this shot of their little feet 👣

Happy Easter for tomorrow!!!

ILookAtTheFloor · 09/04/2023 15:51

Anyone else suffering with hayfever? Mine is birch pollen and it's awful this year! And obviously can't take anything 😞

Also my dreams are bonkers at the moment!! So weird and out there haha!

Owlgirl14 · 09/04/2023 17:20

@ILookAtTheFloor I'm taking antihistamines, the doctor said it was ok. Mine are Cetirizine but you can also take loratadine.

isitaline97 · 10/04/2023 00:50

@Nik84 congratulations! How cute 🥰 👣

@JDR97 aww how lovely congratulations to you! I find mine out on Saturday I can't wait!

@ILookAtTheFloor @Owlgirl14 I suffer awfully with hayfever! I was bad yesterday, I too though we couldn't take anything so that's good to know. I'm with you on the crazy dreams, so vivid. I spoke at loud in my sleep the other night waking up my partner 🤦‍♀️🤣
