@Ally345 I've been itchy too. Mainly arms and legs, tried moisturising more bit not noticed any improvement yet .. hope it calms down for you soon.

@allgoodthings84 how exciting! I think I'll start shopping soon too, I had a bit of a look online at prams a few weeks ago and honestly just felt overwhelmed by the choice. So might do what your doing and just go to a local shop and sort it all in one go.

I gave in and bought most of the furniture for baby before my 20 weeks scan 🙈It was too good to miss. A wardrobe, changing unit, cot bed and Noah pod for £80. Used but in pristine condition. I’ll buy the mattresses and pod liner new. My scan is on Tuesday next week and I am trying not to worry. Movement wise, hardly feeling anything…

allgoodthings84 · 04/04/2023 13:00

@Nik84 you can’t miss a bargain like that! I’m not buying furniture yet as I’m a 2 bedroom house and my daughter has the other bedroom. We will be moving in around a year or so so will get furniture then. I’ll just get a bedside crib. Got lots of other stuff to buy though as I have nothing from my daughter.

I’m not breastfeeding this time after the pnd I got after struggling before. It ruined the first 6 months for me so I’ve decided this time I’m going straight to bottle so will be getting a perfect prep. I had one for my daughter from 6 months and it was amazing!

Moni81 · 04/04/2023 14:01

@allgoodthings84 prep machine is on my list too, you can get it cheaply second hand, so to even keep one in bedroom and one in kitchen. I plan to breastfeed but with my previous pregnancies it was about 2 weeks, then combined feeding and switching to bottle. Unless I get an easy baby I will not kill myself with sleepless nights lol.
I'm not redoing room for baby gender etc, just keep neutral guest room with few furniture changes, as we will have to move to 4 bed in couple of years anyway. I already have second hand travel system, same couldn't miss deal Cybex GB Maris with all the bits in perfect condition for £50, got crib, baby swing, from bigger thing just need cot bed. Baby clothes shopping and the rest of bits and pieces after next week scan, so I want to be done with everything by the end of June max.

@DandelionPockets not too bad Thankyou, My dog jumped on me last night (he's a big dog 🤦‍♀️) he was just excited bless him as we'd been out for a few hours but it's meant a trip to the hospital this morning for an anti - D injection as I have negative blood! They lost the first set of blood and had to take them again, just my luck! 😅 all is well with baby though thankfully. They couldn't find baby with the Doppler which was scary so they gave me a scan and baby was all good in there 🥰

@Owlgirl14 good luck today!

I am the same as everyone else not sure I'm feeling anything yet. Potentially little twitches in my sides but I really can't say for sure. Hope we all get some proper movements soon!

I haven't bought hardly anything yet 😅 need to get started!

Londongirl87 · 04/04/2023 14:29

@allgoodthings84 @Moni81 Oh thank you for mentioning the Prep machine! I am a first time mom and had never heard of it but it looks amazing!

I also don't plan to breastfeed (I've had a breast reduction when I was in my early twenties and been told I wouldn't be able to breastfeed) so this will be great to have :-)

In terms of baby purchases, we went to a Mamas and Papas and John Lewis a couple of weeks ago during while we were at Westfield, but only bought a super soft plushy. We will probably start buying more in the next few weeks. We are also buying a new place (moving from a 1 bedroom to a 3 bedrooms), if all goes well we are completing this week, so we're waiting to move to really start buying things!

Nik84 · 04/04/2023 14:59

Oh it’s getting real isn’t it ladies 🥰

laurapalmer22 · 04/04/2023 16:14

I'm feeling far less anxious about the miscellaneous bouts of irrational anxiety I've had the past months, so that's good! Just looking forward to my scan in a week to have some reassurance.

After feeling the first flutters last week, I haven't really felt anything definitive since, but I am feeling sporadic twitches, "waves", etc. Don't know what's what. But with my anterior placenta, I'm not very worried yet.

We wanted to avoid buying anything until at least after the 20-week scan, but we suddenly found a great newborn carrier at a massive discount so that's our first purchase. We're also receiving a bunch of secondhand items from our friends with babies, which is lovely. We really want to avoid buying a lot of new things unnecessarily, less so due to money but more just to try to be as sustainable as possible. Conscious that having a kid isn't the most environmentally friendly thing, exactly.

Already have a pram picked out though!

DandelionPockets · 04/04/2023 16:39

Ok I had a weird one today, was out on a walk at lunch and felt a rolling sensation in my lower abdomen and then suddenly really needed a wee. In guessing it was the baby doing a back flip, anyone else ever had something like that 😂

OP posts:
DandelionPockets · 04/04/2023 16:43

@isitaline97 phew glad all was ok!

@laurapalmer22 lovely to hear you're not feeling as anxious.

@Nik84 it's feeling SO real now!

OP posts:
Nik84 · 04/04/2023 16:44

@DandelionPockets yes I’ve had the rolling feeling instead of flutters, it’s lovely but a weird sensation 😅

laurapalmer22 · 04/04/2023 16:49

@DandelionPockets Yes, I've also had something that feels like rolling! With regards to needing to pee, I literally have to pee every 5 minutes, haha.

Owlgirl14 · 04/04/2023 18:06

Had my 20 week scan today, she was being a little difficult but all is ok and they seemed to get everything they needed.

Can really crack on with buying things now. Started looking at prams but it's quite overwhelming. Happy to consider second hand too but just not sure on second hand car seats and would you need a new mattress for the pram anyway. What's everyone else thinking of doing. I like the sound of the

Owlgirl14 · 04/04/2023 18:07

3 in one travel systems.

allgoodthings84 · 04/04/2023 18:14

@Owlgirl14 definitely don’t get a second hand car seat unless you know the person selling it well enough to trust that it’s not been in even the smallest bump/accident. They have an expiry date too.

we are getting the cybex balios lux 8 piece travel system with the cloud z2 as the car seat is amazing and I tried it out last week and fell in love with how easy it was to steer etc. 4 wheel suspension which impressed my partner 😂

Nik84 · 04/04/2023 18:37

Had a nice surprise. The hospital has called to move my scan from Tuesday to this Saturday 😊

allgoodthings84 · 04/04/2023 18:41

@Nik84 ooo that’s great stuff! I didn’t know they do that. Hope they don’t move mine though ha ha. I would love it sooner as I’ll be nearly 21 weeks for mine but my partner has the day off and can’t change it now.

Nik84 · 04/04/2023 18:43

@allgoodthings84 I think they only change if you agree. I’ll only be 19+5 for the scan though, hope it’s not too early. Suppose if it is I’ll get a bonus scan!

allgoodthings84 · 04/04/2023 18:46

@Nik84 20 weeks scan can be done 18-21 weeks so definitely not too early for you 😊

Stargazer89 · 04/04/2023 18:51

I had my 20 week scan today and all was good. Baby was wriggling loads so it took a while. I have a posterior placenta but I couldn't feel it when the baby was wriggling and rolling on the scan. So don't worry if you aren't feel much at all at this stage. I didn't feel anything all weekend.

@allgoodthings84 I'm considering going straight to bottle this time too. I really struggled last time and got myself in such a state.

Nik84 · 04/04/2023 19:18

Ah good to know @allgoodthings84 !

ILookAtTheFloor · 04/04/2023 19:20

I've bought nothing, although someone has given us a next2me crib which I've hidden under the bed! My parents have offered to buy us a travel system, although I plan on baby wearing mostly- I did last time. I won't want the buggy in the house though - very superstitious!

We have an ancient stage 1 car seat which needs to go in the bin 🤣 we bought it 13 years ago! Also it isn't isofix and I actually have isofix in my car this time!

I plan on bf again as I was an extended BF-er with both my girls, was a long time ago though.

Moni81 · 04/04/2023 19:45

@allgoodthings84 cybex does well designed and solid buggies. I got my GB Maris Daydream version and totally in love with it.
When it comes to car seat I'm not bothered as long as it's in great condition don't mind second hand. When it comes to cleaning, refreshing, I don't buy new mattress for carry cot. If you have powerful floor steam cleaner with upholstery attachment, that's the best way to treat second hand stuff.

Owlgirl14 · 04/04/2023 20:03

Felt my first proper movements tonight and I'm 19+6 with anterior placenta. Felt a few movements, then tapped my lower tummy a few times and she responded with a little kick. Waited a bit and was about to get up and felt a few more stronger kicks 😊

isitaline97 · 04/04/2023 20:56

@DandelionPockets I have felt that sensation this week, where you suddenly are bursting for a wee! But like @laurapalmer22 I feel like a need to pee every 5 mins, especially when I get in bed! 🤦‍♀️

@Owlgirl14 congrats on your scan and how exciting about your movements! Where did you feel them? If I have felt anything it's been in my sides almost just above my hips, I hope this is it although I'm still unsure 😂

@Nik84 yay that's exciting! 🥰

@Moni81 I will take a look at those buggy's :) I live pretty off road so need some good wheels 🤣

I'm lost when it comes to prep/sterilisation machines, I hope to breastfeed so do I just need to buy a steriliser as my partner would like to do a few feeds too? Or should I get a prep machine just in case I end up using formula? It's all very complicated 😂
