I see, that makes sense. I guess I shouldn't hope I get any extra ones then. 😅

Moni81 · 28/03/2023 21:58

@laurapalmer22 no it's better everything goes well and you dont needy extra scans and extra stress. My additional scans are part of care plan as precaution for women over 40.

My scan is 2 weeks away and I'm both very excited and nervous! Different types of nerves from my first two scans, because it's no longer "Have I had a miscarriage completely out of my control?" but now "Has all that accidental secondhand smoke I've been exposed to damaged the baby? Has the slightly pink meat I've accidentally eaten given me toxoplasmosis and passed it on to the baby? Has [insert any exposure to risk I've subjected myself to] damaged the baby?". I'm going to be a very neurotic mum. 😬

I also haven't felt any movement, and I'm convinced my bump has stalled in growth, although my partner disagrees. Strange to think about how after the 20-week scan, I won't see the baby again until they're born!

I'm the same with feeling my bump has stalled.

I have 2 weeks until my scan and after feeling gentle movements on Saturday I’ve felt nothing since 😫 I wish I could just relax and enjoy this pregnancy like I did with my first two. I think a combination of age, past miscarriage and all the negative stories online have made me much more anxious this time.

On Sunday I had loads of movement, yesterday not so much and couldn't help freaking out, but I searched through previous threads and lots on them said that as the baby is so small it can depend on where they are positioned as they have a lot of room in there at the moment! Today I've felt more again. I also can't relax..

laurapalmer22 · 29/03/2023 17:35

Grateful for this group, we're in this together ❤️

Londongirl87 · 29/03/2023 18:51

Same here for the movement, it is my first so I am not sure what movement feels like, but I sometimes feel like a rolling sensation, so it could be the baby? What does it feel like for you?

My 20 weeks scan is in 2 weeks, and I also have a cervical length scan next week (I have those every 2 weeks and the consultant always lets us see the baby quicly :-) )

DandelionPockets · 29/03/2023 19:10

@Londongirl87 I think I would describe what I think could be the baby as a rolling sensation. I'm just conscious that I'm monitoring my abdomen so noticing every little movement at the moment!

I googled how big their hands and feet are right now and it really is no surprise some of us are not feeling anything or not quite sure what we are feeling. They're still so small really!

I'm the same. I was so oblivious to it all when pregnant with my first. Now I just don't think our luck can last to three babies.

I've felt movements and now seems silent too. Maybe need to do the lie in a dark room and drink cold drinks to see if I can concentrate on feeling them

allgoodthings84 · 29/03/2023 21:25

I read that baby is only awake around 6 hours in 24 at the moment too and some of that will be when you’re asleep so you won’t feel constantly yet. I worry too. I felt nothing Monday after feeling a little of something at least twice a day for a few days before that but today I’ve felt her 5 or 6 times throughout the day and it’s been a bit more obvious too. It’s just when they are in certain positions at the moment that we feel them. There’s still many reasons why we won’t consistently feel them at this stage. I need to keep reminding myself of this lol. Before today I don’t think I would have known it’s definitely baby if it was my first baby.

AfterBathingAtBaxters · 29/03/2023 21:36

Hi ladies, I've been following this thread for a little while and thought it's time I posted something.

I'm 18w5d and after a MMC last year (found out at the 12 week scan), I'm a lot more anxious this time round.

I thought I had felt some movements on and off around 17w but for the past five days or so I haven't felt anything. Naturally, this has me worried. I have my 20 week scan next week so hoping to just try and keep calm(-ish) until then. But it's reassuring to read the posts on this thread. At least I'm not alone!

Good luck for those of you who have scans this week!

isitaline97 · 29/03/2023 21:52

Hello 👋

Would you mind if I also joined you ladies?
I'm not part of a group yet and would like have people to talk to!

I'm 18 weeks tomorrow, due 31st August 🥰

I haven't felt anything I can safely say is movement yet either, maybe the odd twitchy feeling but unsure if it's just gas.
I also try to listen for a heartbeat with my stethoscope (I used to be a vet nurse 😹) but nothing yet.

Awaiting my 20 week scan in a couple of weeks, Good luck to those having them this week 😊

cinnamonbiscuit · 29/03/2023 22:22

It’s so reassuring to hear I’m not the only one worrying about movements. I’ll update on how my scan goes tomorrow!

DandelionPockets · 30/03/2023 07:09

@AfterBathingAtBaxters @isitaline97 congratulations ❤️ how have you both found your pregnancies so far?

Owlgirl14 · 30/03/2023 11:05

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing ok. Just to reassure people, movements may not be felt until up to 24 weeks especially if you have an anterior placenta which I do. I'm just over 19 weeks and not felt anything yet but this is normal. Also they are still quite small so won't always feel it often and a pattern often doesn't develop until 28 weeks.

We have our 20 week scan next week, so will be nice to see baby again soon 😊

I've been quite tired since the weekend but I think she is having a bit of a growth spurt at the moment!

isitaline97 · 30/03/2023 11:52

@DandelionPockets Thank you! You too ☺️
Weeks 5-9 were really rough for me, I couldn't eat at all without being sick and lived off ice lollies 😂 But it quite suddenly seemed to stop around week 10! All was well at my 12 week scan (in fact measured a little ahead) so that was reassuring. I just feel very lucky the sickness didn't continue and I've been feeling quite good since apart from tiredness 😊 how about you?

@Owlgirl14 thank you for that, it's the reassurance I need! I wondered if I have anterior placenta, is this something they would tell you on the 12 week scan though?

@cinnamonbiscuit good luck today! Excited for you 🥰

AfterBathingAtBaxters · 30/03/2023 12:04

@DandelionPockets Thanks 😊 I've not had any issues during my pregnancy so far, aside from nausea (which has thankfully eased now!). Constipation seems to be a constant companion, though and that has been very uncomfortable. Anyone else experiencing this?

Second trimester is definitely better overall but I'm not as active as I'd like to be.

@Owlgirl14 That's a good point, I've read that this is quite common actually (I think around 30-50% of pregnancies have anterior placentas).

isitaline97 · 30/03/2023 13:14

@AfterBathingAtBaxters glad your feeling a little better now. Yes the constipation has been a tough one for me!! I actually had to get some lactulose from the pharmacy early on, and my god did it work 😅 speak to you midwife about it maybe, my told me it's fine to take during pregnancy, but double check if you want to try it. Also try some dates, if you don't like the ordinary ones I got some 'medjool dates' from Tesco I think, they are extremely sweet though so only eat a few 😂 You could also try some cereal daily if you don't already, get something you really like as most cereals are high fibre anyway so your more likely to stick to it!

Owlgirl14 · 30/03/2023 14:12

@isitaline97 I had a private gender scan at 16 weeks and asked them then as I had started reading about it. She was all tucked up in the placenta so can clearly see why I can't feel her yet until she gets stronger.

You could ask at your 20 week scan.

@AfterBathingAtBaxters I would highly recommend All Bran original. I've been eating it every morning and I now go pretty much everyday and it was always every 3 days or so even before pregnancy. It's massively helped me!

allgoodthings84 · 30/03/2023 14:32

@isitaline97 I was told at my 12 week scan but I don’t think many people are told until their 20 week scan. I was told at 17 weeks again at my private scan.

DandelionPockets · 30/03/2023 14:35

@isitaline97 mine's been about the same, pretty sick in the first trimester, but feeling better now. Just still feeling the fatigue and getting 10hr sleep a night. Ah well!

@AfterBathingAtBaxters not suffered much with constipation (only very early on but I think it was because I didnt eat anything but crisps for two weeks). Weetabix, fruit and a lot of water every day seem to be doing the trick for me!

OP posts:
cinnamonbiscuit · 30/03/2023 16:21

All fine! I do have to go back for a rescan because she couldn't get a good view of the heart and face and also I think she couldn't get the cervix length. But what she could see looked normal. I have an anterior placenta which I'd kind of expected/hoped for which explains the lack of movement!

It's a girl 🥰 which is what we wanted, we've already got one girl, love the idea of sisters 😍

Hope everyone is doing ok x

laurapalmer22 · 30/03/2023 17:09

I was also told I have an anterior placenta at my 12-week scan, I reckon that's why I haven't felt any (obvious) movements yet, and I'm 19 weeks this Saturday. I'm feeling a bunch of things, but I'm assuming they're either round ligament pain or digestion.

AfterBathingAtBaxters · 30/03/2023 20:42

Thanks for all your tips, I'll give them a go🤞 I tried Lactulose early on but that worked almost too well and made feel quite nauseous after. Might give it another go with a lower dose. The pains we have to go through😅

@cinnamonbiscuit I'm so glad to hear that, you must be very relieved!

DandelionPockets · 30/03/2023 20:57

@cinnamonbiscuit great news and congratulations on your little girl!!
