Gas*

allgoodthings84 · 25/03/2023 13:02

I’ve got an anterior placenta too right at the front but in the last few days have started feeling little gentle kicks low down or at the sides. I think if it was my first I wouldn’t realise either as pretty gentle at the moment but I recognise the feeling. mine doesn’t feel like gas (get that too 😂) feels more like a little quick tug but I know it’s a kick. With my daughter the first movements I knew I felt were actual movements rather than kicks but I realised later that I just didn’t realise those soft pops/tugs were kicks at the time.

Due 12th Sept! I'm under consultant care so being monitored frequently after my 20 week scan. Already very much showing (16 weeks) and going to start getting things together soon just because I want to be organised come summer. Don't think I want to be heavily pregnant, running around organising things during the summer holidays especially if we get the heat we did last year. I've already brought 2 fans before the price skyrockets.

I'm 18 weeks today, and I'm already so big 😬it is my third, I hope it's just muscle memory! I didn't look like this until about 7 months with my first! 😂is any one else have a really noticeable bump already? Excuse the mess of my pre-teen's room, she's the only one with the full length mirror!

@ILookAtTheFloor still hardly no bump here. Can’t tell I’m pregnant 😞 will be grateful later on I know. It’s my second so I expected to have a noticeable bump by now. Had a private scan last weekend and she’s measuring bang on to what the 12 weeks nhs measured her so must just be tucked in there. I don’t bloat or anything either so that probably keeps it smaller.

I’ve read that if you have an anterior placenta then baby is more likely to be tucked in but not sure how true that is. I didn’t show until 21 weeks at all with my first and at 41 weeks was measuring 31 weeks so just don’t think I have big bumps. I’m only 5ft so always expected to be bigger but must be the position they get in.

cinnamonbiscuit · 26/03/2023 22:49

@ILookAtTheFloor I’m 19 weeks and my bump is probably similar to yours, this is my second. My stomach muscles are definitely destroyed still so I’m thinking it’s most likely that as well!

Moni81 · 27/03/2023 01:37

@ILookAtTheFloor same here in my third pregnancy and 17 weeks, my belly looks massive comparing to previous ones, exactly like yours. I guess it's only muscles stretched and hanged lol, especially that I'm still fitting into size 8-10 clothes, just maternity. Overall I can't complain, so far I haven't ballooned all over, not getting chubby as I did in previous pregnancies when a lot younger. My only concern is how it all goes back in place after birth, let's face it skin over 40 is not as elastic as in 20s.
This week I started to feel more pressure on my bladder and literally live on toilet, also my lower belly feels a bit sore and I guess it will only get more uncomfortable. There is definitely something going on down there as flutters are more noticeable. It's hard to compare as I don't remember that much, my previous pregnancy was 12 years ago, in way it feel like first time lol.

laurapalmer22 · 27/03/2023 10:01

It's my first pregnancy and I still have a sizeable bump like yours! I'm a mere 1.59m, so it must be that, there's not much room for the bump to grow without being visible.

ILookAtTheFloor · 27/03/2023 10:08

@Moni81 I'm also concerned about it snapping back! My previous two did but I do worry I've pushed it too far this time!

surprise87 · 27/03/2023 11:07

Hi ladies, iv been following this since the first thread at Xmas I'm due sep 7th.
Now from about 10week I could find baby's heartbeat with home Doppler very easy last time I found it I was 15 weeks 6 days iv been trying all weekend now and can't find anything so getting little worried now. I do have a private gender scan on Saturday so I guess I'll find out then if all's ok.

FarmBaby3 · 27/03/2023 13:22

My bump is huge. This is my 3rd in 5 years and I was already a size 16-18. I'm only 16 weeks!!

allgoodthings84 · 27/03/2023 15:42

@laurapalmer22 its definitely not just height alone. I’m only 5ft exactly and my bump hardly shows and it’s not my first even. I don’t look pregnant yet. It makes me sad as I want a bump and I do worry even though it know it’s normal at this stage either way. I do feel the baby a few times a day and she was measuring bang on a week ago so I know I shouldn’t worry

@surprise87 thwy strongly recommend against Dopplers for this reason. Even highly trained midwives can’t always find a heartbeat before 20 weeks. I was told by a midwife when I was pregnant with my first that often people at home think they can hear the heartbeat early on but it’s often the placenta, their own heartbeat or something else they can hear. If you’re worried give your midwife a call and they may check for you but they will definitely tell you to stop use the home Doppler.

cinnamonbiscuit · 28/03/2023 09:21

Is anyone else starting to get nervous for 20 week scan? Mine is on Thursday and I feel really panicky about it, much more so than I did with my first. I don’t know if it’s because I’m more aware this time around about things that can go wrong? I’m really trying not to freak myself out but it’s hard. Also I think baby has changed position a bit because I’ve barely felt any movement for the last week or so which isn’t helping!!

DandelionPockets · 28/03/2023 10:06

morning gals. on the bump chat: FTM 18 weeks, 5ft 7in and a have a proper bump. I can't even hide it anymore unless I wear huge thick jumper over a couple of layers. I just have really weak stomach muscles, more planks needed post-partum 😂

@cinnamonbiscuit I'm a bit nervous but trying not to let my mind wander to what ifs (easier said than done...). I haven't seen the baby since 12weeks and still not sure if it's gas or the baby moving! two more weeks to wait though to see if everythings still going well. I just think, I have no reason to not think it's fine so, it's probably fine.

allgoodthings84 · 28/03/2023 12:52

Not got my scan for over 2 weeks as I’m nearly 21 weeks when I have mine. I would have been a lot more worried if I hadn’t had my 17 weeks private scan. I’m still worried there might be something wrong but at least I know at 17 weeks she was moving around in there and measuring correctly so I’ve just got to have faith it’s all ok or I’ll go crazy

cinnamonbiscuit · 28/03/2023 15:49

Thanks guys. I’m starting to wish I’d got a private scan, obviously too late for that now! I just can’t shake this bad feeling I have. I was reassured by feeling movement a couple of weeks ago after that bleed but then the movement mostly stopped, I’m not sure if I’ve just got used to them as they’re so subtle so I’m not noticing them now. I’m pretty sure when I was 19/20 weeks with DD I was getting down about lack of movement in the run up to the scan, and then I suddenly felt a huge kick down near my bladder which completely eased my anxiety. Really hoping that happens between now and Thursday! I keep sort of pushing it out of my mind but then I remember and feel a surge of worry/panic 😥

laurapalmer22 · 28/03/2023 16:25

My scan is 2 weeks away and I'm both very excited and nervous! Different types of nerves from my first two scans, because it's no longer "Have I had a miscarriage completely out of my control?" but now "Has all that accidental secondhand smoke I've been exposed to damaged the baby? Has the slightly pink meat I've accidentally eaten given me toxoplasmosis and passed it on to the baby? Has [insert any exposure to risk I've subjected myself to] damaged the baby?". I'm going to be a very neurotic mum. 😬

I also haven't felt any movement, and I'm convinced my bump has stalled in growth, although my partner disagrees. Strange to think about how after the 20-week scan, I won't see the baby again until they're born!

May94x · 28/03/2023 17:11

My 20 week scan is 2 weeks on Thursday and I am a bag of nerves!!

I had an amniocentesis the other week due to an inherited chromosome issue I have (doesn’t affect me but could affect baby) and obviously I’m aware of the risk of miscarriage the procedure has. I’m still waiting for the results for that but they also tested for Downs, Edwards and Patau's and the results for those all came back as all clear thank fully.

I don’t really think I have a bump yet (just look fat!) and I’ve not felt any movements. I know that’s easily explained by it being my first baby and found out the other week I have an anterior placenta, doesn’t stop the worrying though!!

Moni81 · 28/03/2023 18:11

Must be something wrong with me, because I'm so relaxed in this pregnancy, not really worried that something may be wrong with baby, not even curious about gender lol. Just over 2 weeks left to my 20 weeks scan and I only wonder where did this time fly. This week I can definitely feel baby moving, it came same time as increased pressure on my bladder, so I guess getting stronger, stretching and giving me hard time lol

ILookAtTheFloor · 28/03/2023 18:31

My 20 week scan is next Thursday, I'm not as anxious as 12 weeks but I'll never not be a bit anxious! I am feeling movement, which is a mixed blessing as if it's been a while since I feel some flutters I start getting anxious again! Even though I know some women don't even feel movement at 18+3.

My trust offers three scans now, a growth scan at 32 weeks- it didn't during my previous two pregnancies.

Moni81 · 28/03/2023 18:59

One good thing with pregnancy at my age is having 3 extra scans to monitor baby growth and functioning of placenta, it's week 32, 36 and 39.

laurapalmer22 · 28/03/2023 19:49

I think I only get the 2 scans at UCLH, but I guess I could ask for a third or do it privately if I were really keen.

Moni81 · 28/03/2023 20:24

@laurapalmer22 if there is any concern at 20 weeks scan they schedule another one. I remember having third scan with one of my daughter's because apparently her head measured large...she turned out just fine lol.

allgoodthings84 · 28/03/2023 21:31

@laurapalmer22 you will get more scans if they feel you need them 😊 with my daughter I had 2 growth scans at 28 weeks and 30 something weeks. Both set up as urgent appointments after bump measuring small at a midwife appointment. Nothing was wrong. She was small but still a normal weight small. Just tucked right in back to back. I hope I don’t need an extra scan this time as I worry enough as it is lol. I’ll likely have a private one around 30 weeks though to break it up and put my mind at ease
