@DandelionPockets I’d been having the little bubbly feelings for a few weeks but couldn’t ever really tell if it was a digestive thing or not. The movements recently have been like sort of sudden miniature kicks, like a very definite single movement. Still only happening a few times a day but I’ll take it!!

@Nik84 I need to remember to check the placenta position at my 20 week scan! I’m assuming it’s posterior though because I’m feeling movements at the same time or slightly earlier than with first baby. That’s good that the anterior placenta didn’t prevent you from feeling them last time!

allgoodthings84 · 14/03/2023 20:05

@Nik84 I’ve got an anterior placenta too and did with my daughter. The sonographer told us that if you’ve had one child with an anterior placenta then there’s more chance of an anterior placenta in subsequent pregnancies

Owlgirl14 · 14/03/2023 22:14

@Nik84 Thats good to know as I was told I had an anterior placenta, had no clue what they meant and I looked it up and read you may be able to feel less movements.

Not feeling anything at the mo but at the gender scan at the weekend she was tucked inside it and the placenta was laying right across the top and was told she would be kicking the placenta and not me so I wouldn't feel anything.

allgoodthings84 · 14/03/2023 22:20

@Owlgirl14 with my daughter I didn’t feel obvious movement until after my 20 weeks scan. With an anterior placenta it’s completely normal to feel nothing up until 24 weeks. In the last few days I’ve definitely felt something but not sure if it’s baby or not. When you see some people say you will know when it is that’s not true at all for everyone. When I did feel my daughter it took a week or so for me to know it’s definitely her and all of my friends say the same thing especially when it’s your first so not felt it before. The feeling is different for different people too. Some feel flutters, some feel pops, some feel twitches and some feel the tumble feeling of movement

Owlgirl14 · 14/03/2023 22:51

@allgoodthings84 thank you that's really helpful to know. Weeks back I was laying in bed and my body jolted from my tummy and the sonographer said that will have been baby.

Hi everyone!

I had my 16 weeks midwife appointment this morning and it all went well, we reviewed my screening and blood tests results (all good) and she checked the baby heart which we could hear very clearly :-)

I also had a follow-up cervix scan at the pre-term clinic (as a follow-up from cervix surgery a few years ago) and it was still not very long, but stable and closed with no funneling which was reassuring too! My next cervix scan is in 3 weeks at week 19.

Those scans are a bit stressful but the good thing is that the doctor always does an abdominal scan after to show us the baby and it is crazy to see how our little girl has grown already!

ILookAtTheFloor · 15/03/2023 16:18

I had my gender scan yesterday and after two girls we're having a boy! We're still in shock about it, have no names we like and are adjusting to the thought of having a son!

My 16 week appointment is actually next Friday when I'll be 17+5 as I asked for a specific midwife who delivered my youngest. Feels very late but they tell me any time between 16 and 18 weeks is fine!

Nik84 · 15/03/2023 16:48

Great news @ILookAtTheFloor ! I’m also a girl mum and I can’t believe this one will be anything but a girl… we’re not finding out until they’re born though. I only have a girls name picked out 😅

Nik84 · 17/03/2023 22:28

Has anyone had covid during their pregnancy? I’m pretty sure I have it, shadow of a line on my test so will retest tomorrow. Lots of poorly kids at my school with high temps and I’ve been feeling off all day. Wish I hadn’t tested because now I’m scared. I lost my last baby whilst I had covid and can’t help but link the two. Anyone had covid and baby was fine?

Ally345 · 18/03/2023 01:59

Hi @Nik84, I just had it 1.5 weeks ago.

I was taken out, as you would be with flu, for about 3 days but then started to improve, with tiredness and congestion for a further 3 days and fine now.

I just had norovirus right before, and was very weak and depleted so was worried, but thankfully was fine and scan 2 days ago confirmed baby ok.

I did a lot of research and spoke to my Gp, and there isn’t a lot of up to date evidence with Covid and pregnancy (a lot of the concerns were based on the Delta variant, which was more severe), but advice tends to be:

  • Ensure you rest and take it easy (don’t push through)
  • Take paracetamol as needed (and lemon tea)
  • Keep fluids up
  • If anxious, you can buy a cheap oximeter on Amazon and monitor oxygen levels (I did this for peace of mind as was hospitalised last year with Covid and thankfully never dropped below normal levels this time) and contact 111 if oxygen drops beyond normal levels
  • Call GP or midwife if any concerns (my midwife service never got back to me (think they are slammed) but helped to talk to GP))

Anecdotally, most pregnant people seem to be okay these days (found lots of threads here with people saying similar).

Feel better soon

Preggobelly · 18/03/2023 07:06

@Nik84 that must be really worrying after what has happened in the past 💗

My friend had Covid during her pregnancy and the baby was absolutely fine. Just rest and take care of yourself. It should hopefully pass in a couple of days and you will both be ok 💗

Nik84 · 18/03/2023 11:22

Thanks @Ally345 for all your advice and @Preggobelly too for your reassurance. I’m feeling a bit calmer about it today and taking it easy ☺️

laurapalmer22 · 18/03/2023 14:37

@Nik84 Two of my close friends who had babies in the past year had Covid while pregnant and they seemed to have been absolutely fine ❤️

laurapalmer22 · 18/03/2023 14:45

Has anyone been tested for toxoplasmosis? I know the chance is very small but I'm a worrier and I've definitely accidentally had some pink meat while pregnant. I'll ask to be tested when I see my midwife in a few days.

Moni81 · 18/03/2023 15:00

@laurapalmer22 I don't have cat so it never crossed my mind. If it's going to give you piece of mind then test, although not sure they just do it simply by request. I'm sure you will be fine though, try to not overthink.
How is your belly growing ladies. So far I only needed maternity trousers but had to stock up on tops recently too (I don't wear loose fitted clothes so just couldn't buy bigger sizes). Also can't sleep on my tummy anymore, 16 weeks and feel like I'm ballooning lol

laurapalmer22 · 18/03/2023 15:06

@Moni81 Research shows the most common source of toxo is eating undercooked meat, not having cats, hence why I'm concerned despite not having a cat. I think I'll get the test, NHS or private, just for peace of mind.

My bump is about the size of yours! Can't sleep on my belly anymore either and living in loose dresses and overalls.

Mortima · 18/03/2023 16:23

I just wondered if anyone else isn't really showing yet, or has experience of this?
I'm 17+6 and have a slight bump, but feel like it's been the same for at least 3 weeks; I don't look obviously pregnant. It feels like everyone else has a proper baby bump at this stage, and it's worrying me.

I've felt a bit of 'bubbling' but not sure yet if it's movements or not.

It's my first baby, and I'm not very tall/quite small build, and don't think my abdominal muscles are exceptionally strong!

My midwife didn't check for heartbeat during 16 week check-up, so haven't seen or heard baby since 12 weeks. I'm tempted to book a reassurance scan but my 20-week one is only 10 days away, so I'll probably just wait.

Preggobelly · 18/03/2023 16:46

@Mortima I am pregnant with my second and showing at the stage I would have been about 20 weeks with my first. This has been since around 12 weeks! You will be surprised how good your stomach muscles are with your first as I certainly was. Try not to worry, all will be fine.

allgoodthings84 · 18/03/2023 17:00

@Mortima I’m 17 weeks today with my second child and only have a tiny bump that just looks like I’m getting chubby. I didn’t show with my first until after my 20 weeks scan.
I haven’t felt much either yet. I think I’ve felt little movements in there in the last few days but it’s not regular and is very gentle. I have an anterior placenta so completely normal to not have obvious movements up until 24 weeks! I had an anterior placenta with my daughter too and I can’t remember exactly when I started feeling her but I know it was after the 20 week scan as I told the sonographer that I hadn’t felt her move yet.

Moni81 · 18/03/2023 18:03

With my first I wasn't showing until about 20 weeks, with second also very similar, but then it started to grow very fast, so I wouldn't worry. I had my girls when younger about 28-30 in close age gap. Now after long break at 42 it's different game I guess lol

jollydollyirl · 18/03/2023 21:28

@Mortima like you I'm 12 days out from my 20 week scan but so tempted for a bit of reassurance! If they weren't so expensive...

Preggobelly · 19/03/2023 15:21

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone 💙💗 hope everyone is having a nice day with their bump and their big brothers or sisters if they have any 🥰 x

Stargazer89 · 19/03/2023 15:55

@Preggobelly thank you 💐 Happy mother's day to you and everyone else too.

@Mortima I'm 18 weeks on Weds with my second and not showing yet. I also haven't put any weight on yet. I had a scan 2 weeks ago and baby was measuring fine and heard heartbeat on friday so I'm trying not to worry.

DandelionPockets · 19/03/2023 18:19

@Preggobelly happy mother's day 💐

22 days until my 20 week scan, counting down the days!
