I got the wrong day for my 16 week appointment, must be baby brain - is that a thing?

@May94x I had low pappa last pregnancy and took aspirin and had the extra scans which was actually quite nice. A few of my friends have also had it and none of us experienced any problems related to it.

I think some people do take partners along to the appointments but I don't. My partner comes to scans but that's all. I think he would be quite board if he came along to midwife appointments. It's personal preference though and I'm sure partners are more than welcome to attend.

Hi everyone! I took a little time away whilst I awaited my NIPT results, as we were flagged in the nhs screening as high risk. So so relieved to say that they came back as low risk ♥️

hope everyone is doing well. Sickness has eased slightly but the headaches are real 😅

ugh sorry I don’t know why that posted about 40 times! 😅

May94x · 10/03/2023 18:57

@Stargazer89 that’s reassuring! And the extra scans are definitely a positive

I’ve told my partner the midwife appointments will probably be boring for him but he still wants to come to the 16 week one so will at least be nice if we do get to hear the heartbeat together

@Rainbowmamma23 fab news 💛

Rainbowmamma23 · 10/03/2023 19:13

@May94x thanks lovely!

Owlgirl14 · 10/03/2023 20:06

@May94x Glad you're starting to feel a bit better. My partner came to the booking appointment and is coming to the 16 week app next week. He doesn't want to miss a thing bless him, he's super excited!

@Rainbowmamma23 Thats great news 😊

Is anyone booked in for a gender scan after 16 weeks.

We decided to as would love to know sooner as there is a baby market on this weekend in our area which we would like to attend, so it would really help.

ILookAtTheFloor · 11/03/2023 05:28

@Owlgirl14 I have a private gender scan on Tuesday when I'll.be 16+2, we're desperate to know!

divorcingmumoftwo · 11/03/2023 08:30

6th April booked for gender scan!

Purpleunicorn35 · 11/03/2023 08:55

Hi all
Haven't posted for a while. Am 13 +5 now. The weeks are flying passed. We had our scan earlier this week and baby was very well behaved. Screening results are low but we're still thinking about a harmony for peace of mind as I'm 38.

My symptoms are still pretty awful, irritable, tiredness and nausea. I find if I am running around doing things my nausea gets really bad and I start wrenching.

Also, I have really itchy skin - has anyone else got this? I know it can be potentially a liver problem but wondered how common it was.

Purpleunicorn35 · 11/03/2023 08:56

And yes definitely a gender scan - maybe with my daughter ... she doesn't know yet so would be a nice way to get her involved.

Nik84 · 11/03/2023 09:04

@Purpleunicorn35 I’ve also been itchy, mainly on my belly and my chest. I think it is one of the symptoms but I’m going to bring it up with my midwife on Wednesday at my 16 week appointment.

Owlgirl14 · 11/03/2023 10:37

@ILookAtTheFloor @divorcingmumoftwo Ooh exciting times. Has anyone got any feeling what they're having or any preference?

I've got my gender scan at lunchtime today and then we're off to a baby market for a look around x

allgoodthings84 · 11/03/2023 10:53

I’m 16 weeks today but having my gender scan next weekend when I’ll be 17+1. I’m really nervous about it.

my 16 week appointment is on the phone and I don’t even know when it is! I’m really annoyed as I’ve called (not got through), emailed and text asking what day as I’m not allowed my phone on all of the time but I’m just not getting a response. I’ve tried to contact many times over the last week. On Monday I’m going to try calling all of the other midwives there so hopefully one of them will speak to her and I’m really annoyed now.

Owlgirl14 · 11/03/2023 16:39

So we're having a girl 💖 Opposite to what we all thought but we're very happy!

Private scan was amazing as got to see a lot more of her than at my 12 week scan. They also flicked over to 4D for a short time which was awesome, she was tucked right into my placenta.

We were sent all images taken including the 4D and a few short videos as well.

Would Definately recommended if anyone as thinking about it. We used Ultrasound Direct.

May94x · 11/03/2023 17:05

@Purpleunicorn35 I’ve definitely been feeling itchy! I didn’t even realise it was a pregnancy symptom

@allgoodthings84 that must be really frustrating. I’ve found it difficult to get through to midwives when I’ve needed, I understand they’re busy but very frustrating when you need answers. Hopefully you hear from them soon

@Owlgirl14 aww congratulations on your little girl 💗

Nik84 · 11/03/2023 18:02

Aw lovely news @Owlgirl14 congratulations 💕

Stargazer89 · 11/03/2023 19:00

@Owlgirl14 lovely news. That sounds like it was a really special experience. Congratulations.

allgoodthings84 · 11/03/2023 19:06

@Owlgirl14 congratulations on your baby girl. We are going next weekend when I’m 17+1. We are going to an ultrasound direct too as that’s where we went for our 9 weeks scan and they were amazing.

@May94x very frustrating as I’m now 16 weeks so the appointment should be this week but I have no idea when it is even. I would have thought it would be easy to text or email back with a date at least if not a time. When you call and can’t get through her answer phone says to text if not emergency but she doesn’t text back. I first text over 2 weeks ago about something I was worried about and heard nothing then a few days later first asked about my appointment and nothing and I’ve asked a few times since then explaining I can’t have my phone on loud all the time and I know if I miss her call I’ll struggle to get another appointment. I also can’t really talk at work privately so would need to go out to my car.

I think it’s pretty bad to get to 16 weeks and not even know when my 16 weeks appointment even is even though they are busy here we don’t see them in person from booking in until 24 weeks. I’m guessing my bloods etc must have been fine from the booking in so she’s not too bothered but I need to discuss some other things I’ve got on my mind 😞

Rainbowmamma23 · 11/03/2023 19:08

@Owlgirl14 congratulations! We know we’re having a girl from our NIPT results ♥️ so we’re matching! :)

Owlgirl14 · 11/03/2023 19:28

@May94x @Nik84 @Stargazer89 @allgoodthings84 @Rainbowmamma23

Thank you guys 😊 It seems a lot more real now we know we're having a girl and we bought our first few clothing bits from the market which is nice.

Has anyone bought anything yet? Anyone got some good lists/websites of what's needed?

allgoodthings84 · 11/03/2023 20:38

@Owlgirl14 my biggest bit of advice is don’t go crazy! I bought so much for my daughter and some of it we never ever used (not just clothes) and we had soooo much bought for us and gifted to us

One thing I say don’t bother with us a changing table. You will likely only end up using it as storage. Tend to change the baby in just a changing mat on the floor upstairs or downstairs wherever you are at the time.

we also only used the Moses basket once. She hated it and her pram was suitable for napping in so she napped in pram (usually on a walk) or in her crib. Also often napped in my arms for short naps.

we are waiting until after the 20 weeks scan to buy things but might buy just one outfit after we know what we are having but will be the weekend after we find out as won’t have time until then as taking my daughter to the fair after the scan. She’s staying with my mum while we go.
