@Moni81 no obvious movements for me yet but I’ve got an anterior placenta so will likely be awhile still as yet. I’m 15+4 today and can be up to 24 weeks until I feel obvious movements. It worries me but I know it’s normal. I just wish I had a proper obvious bump to feel pregnant at least

Stargazer89 · 08/03/2023 16:31

@Moni81 I have heard that some places only give you a high or low risk chance. I think so would want to know too but i'm over anxious. I have paid for a NIPT and currently waiting for results, despite a low risk nhs.

@cinnamonbiscuit Hope all goes well this afternoon .

Moni81 · 08/03/2023 16:35

@allgoodthings84 I wish mine was smaller, it's my 3rd baby and I was skinny before getting pregnant. Now it looks like 5 months and past week or so cant sleep on my tummy anymore as I feel like having ball under me lol. I'm more worried that if it keeps growing so much I end up loosing balance 🙈. I don't eat crazy amount of food so it's not really getting fatter, mostly just my belly.

allgoodthings84 · 08/03/2023 16:51

@Moni81 this is my second baby (4th pregnancy) and I don’t even have bloat. I just look a little chubbier. I wasn’t skinny but a size 8-10 and I still fit in my 27” high waisted Levi jeans. I’m only 5ft tall too. It does worry me in case something is wrong. There’s nothing right now to suggest I’m pregnant. I don’t feel pregnant at all 😞 it scares me

Moni81 · 08/03/2023 16:58

@allgoodthings84 do not worry too much, when you think about it baby is still so tiny and many women don't show until later in pregnancy. With my second I also didn't show until around 18 weeks, but that was over 10 years ago. I'm now 42 so I guess my muscles just gave up earlier. Body changes, so does the way we carry pregnancy with age.

allgoodthings84 · 08/03/2023 17:33

@Moni81 I didn’t show until 21 weeks with my daughter but I’m 8 years older than I was at this stage of pregnancy with her. I’m 38 now so would have thought my stomach muscles would be worse especially as the only exercise I get is walking lol. Everyone always tells me taller people can hide a pregnancy longer but I’m tiny. It’s probably in an awkward position or something

Moni81 · 08/03/2023 18:10

@allgoodthings84 if you are petite person and naturally slim doesn't mean you have to show early. Until baby is bigger the vast majority of that bulge is bloat and water retention. It's nasty work of increasing level of progesterone, but some women respond well to it. I'm not the one I am afraid, since I could only use progesterone only contraception when older I decided against it because the way it mess up with my body. I was completely fine on combined pills though.

cinnamonbiscuit · 08/03/2023 18:47

Thanks everyone. Had the appointment, she didn't do heartbeat which I was sort of relieved about, but also I know that the relief would have been much greater had she checked and found it 🙄 classic! She was very reassuring though.

I'm also managing to freak myself out about movements, I'm pretty sure I felt the baby move last week but nothing since. Trying really hard to keep my brain from going to dark places. It's normal to have really sporadic movements this early isn't it?!

Stargazer89 · 08/03/2023 19:04

@cinnamonbiscuit glad it all went well. Yes it's def normal to feel sporadic movements at this early stage. I was convinced I felt movements early last week too but nothing since. I also had a scan friday and showed everything was fine. They are still so small so is imagine it would depend on their position.

cinnamonbiscuit · 08/03/2023 20:18

@Stargazer89 thank you, yes I’m sure it must be to do with position. Glad everything was well on your scan x

allgoodthings84 · 08/03/2023 20:25

@cinnamonbiscuit it’s totally normal to only feel it every few days or something at this stage. I’ve not felt anything at all that I can say is definitely baby but not expecting to yet as have an anterior placenta. They don’t expect you to feel consistent movements until 28 weeks but if it’s after 24 weeks and you’re worried to contact them. Before 24 weeks they will tell you it’s normal and fine

@Moni81 I’ve been on progesterone pessaries for over 2 weeks now (since I had a little brown blood in discharge) and no symptoms from that at all so maybe you’re right and my body doesn’t react much to progesterone so doesn’t bloat etc

allgoodthings84 · 08/03/2023 20:29

@Moni81 they didn’t think I needed the progesterone they were just following the NICE guidelines as they could see no reason for the brown discharge and I’ve had previous miscarriages. My progesterone is fine I imagine or I wouldn’t have got passed 12ish weeks and I was tested twice at 6/7dpo for progesterone before I conceived and my results were really good both times. I used to always have spotting 3-4 days before AF that’s why I had the progesterone tests twice. I didn’t spot before AF with this pregnancy,

Stargazer89 · 09/03/2023 16:47

Got my NIPT results back today all low risk. Feel like it's another thing ticked off. Just the 20 week scan to get through next.

I don't have a bump either yet, I just look fatter 🙄

Hows everyone feeling? I'm exhausted constantly but other than that I don't feel pregnant at all x

allgoodthings84 · 09/03/2023 17:22

@Stargazer89 I’m exactly the same. Realllyyy tired but just look a bit fat now it’s not a smooth bump shape. I think it’s because of previous c section maybe so “hangs” a bit until it’s bigger. Hopefully not much longer as I’m not one to talk about myself at work etc so at the moment they probably just think I’ve been eating all the pies 😂

I have booked my private scan for 19th March (Mother’s Day as that’s all we both have free in the next few weeks as partner works in retail) when I’ll be 17+1. I’m excited and scared all at once. We are finding out the sex but I want to know it’s all ok in there the most. Finding out the sex will be an added bonus. My nhs 20 weeks scan isn’t until I’m 20+6 weeks and don’t want to wait that long to know all is ok

Stargazer89 · 09/03/2023 17:30

@allgoodthings84 In exactly the same. I have the c section overhang and it's just making my stomach look a funny shape. It's harder up the top than bottom unfortunately lol. Are you thinking about having another c section? I think I am to be honest just because it's what I know.

Ohh 17 week scan is exciting. It's just so nerve wracking isn't it. I'm wanting to book another scan already but part of my negotiating with my partner for spending so much on the NIPT was that I wouldn't need to book anymore private scans but I'm already wondering how I will make it to 20 weeks and I only recieved my results earlier today 🤣

allgoodthings84 · 09/03/2023 18:09

@Stargazer89 it feels harder literally just under my belly button. I can feel that’s where my uterus is up to now it just doesn’t stick out hardly 😂 I know it’s early to be that high but I’m only 5ft (in proportion) so makes sense really.

I kind of wish we would have NIPT but we discussed it and decided the money is needed as we have nothing for this baby. If my numbers were closer to the high risk level I would have pushed it further I think. If my partner was thinking it was a good idea to do it I would have jumped at it though just for peace of mind as I’m so worried all of the time of something going wrong. I insisted on the private gender scan though. He wants to know the sex but is better at not letting his worry get the better of him than I am but I paid for it and he loves seeing baby on the screen. It’s his first (and only) child and it’s lovely seeing his face when he’s watching

I keep telling myself that I will feel better after the nhs 20 week scan but bet I’ll still worry about something or other 😂

Stargazer89 · 09/03/2023 18:23

@allgoodthings84 I am pleased I had the NIPT and feel relief at the moment but I know that I will soon be worrying about something else baby related. I'm also now thinking that the money spent on it could have gone towards buying the new stuff we will need, can't win lol. It's impossible to not worry after miscarriages. My partner wasn't concerned at all and wouldn't have even considered the NiPT, I wish I had his mindset.

Thats really exciting that it will be your partners first at least it's not long to wait now until the next scan x

Moni81 · 09/03/2023 19:39

I can understand some of you needed reassurance with NIPT test. However I try not to get paranoid and if NHS screening showed low risk without need for further tests, I trust them. Besides on scan NT was low range, bladder fine, nose bone ok and sonographer didn't seem to have any concerns. On the end of day if I get so hooked up on negatives then what if 20 week scan shows some problems as baby grows and it can happen to anyone at any point. So honestly just need to relax and hope for the best.

Stargazer89 · 10/03/2023 10:16

@Moni81 you are completely right. I'm obsessive in my worry's though and actually have been referred to the perinatal midwife to help support my anxiety throughout the pregnancy so I know it's not normal to seek reassurance constantly.

Have many of you had the 16 week midwife appointment? mines today and quite looking forward to it

May94x · 10/03/2023 11:54

Hi everyone I haven’t posted here for a while, I’ve only recently started to feel human again! My sickness ramped up between weeks 12-14 and don’t get me started on the exhaustion!

I still haven’t had my screening results back however did receive a letter saying that I have low PAPP-A. I had no idea what this was but apparently the low hormone means the placenta may not work as well as it should. So I’m now on low dose aspirin until birth, and will be getting regular growth scans once I reach 28 weeks.

I did ring the screening department to ask about the other results but they basically said if I haven’t received a call by now then the results will be low risk.

My 16 week appointment is a week on Monday @Stargazer89 . This is my fist baby so not really sure what to expect? Is anyone else taking their partners? Mine didn’t come to the booking appointment but would like to come to this one

divorcingmumoftwo · 10/03/2023 13:00

They normally do heartbeat at 16 week appointment, but obvs not always!

allgoodthings84 · 10/03/2023 16:14

The 16 week mode wide appointment is different everywhere. Some are in person and some are telephone. Some check for the heartbeat and some don’t. They are told to not check the heartbeat as before 20 weeks it can’t always be found so can cause extra anxiety if the midwife can’t find it but they do warn you of that before they check so you can say not to check.

allgoodthings84 · 10/03/2023 16:18

No idea where the words “wide mode” came from 😂

Moni81 · 10/03/2023 17:47

@May94x I also take aspirin but preventative, to make sure placenta works well and I don't get high blood pressure, even though never had problem before. Apparently because I'm over 40 and last pregnancy was over 10 years ago I need 2 medium risk criteria for aspirin lol. I don't mind taking it though.
I'm old fashioned and although my partner will be at birth as he was with my previous pregnancies, I don't find need to drag him for appointments etc. It's me who is pregnant, not us, but that's just my approach, I know some first time mums to be are very excited, want to share experience with partner etc.

allgoodthings84 · 10/03/2023 17:54

@Moni81 my partner won’t be coming to midwife appointments either. Apart from when they check the heartbeat they are a bit boring for them and they aren’t automatically entitled to time off for them anyway like we are. My partner is just coming to my scans for support and because he loves seeing baby. My daughters dad didn’t come to any midwife appointments either. There wasn’t many people back 8 years ago who did have partners with them. Not sure about this time round as only had one so far and no one was in the waiting area when I was
