@BellaTheDarkOverlord same same. I don't have any favourite names at all whether it's for a boy or girl... Will think about it later 😃😁

Dewintergarden · 06/02/2023 20:07

@ScrantonDunderMifflin I have to go back on the 13th, what about you? I still haven't told any friends except one, but all of our families know.

summerpoolandsun · 06/02/2023 20:26

@ScrantonDunderMifflin Weve told both sets of parents, siblings, close friends (four of mine and two of his). That’s it, so not a complete secret but limited. Feel completely comfortable not telling anyone else now and basically just letting them ask if they have the courage to 😂

I have one friend I think it might feel a bit awkward with when she finds out. As she would have wanted to know but I have had stredd with the pregnancy and she’s the type of person that makes me more stressed so I’m glad I haven’t said anything. I guess you’ve got to do what works for you not just what works to please others x

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 06/02/2023 20:31

@Dewintergarden I'm going back this week 😊x
@summerpoolandsun we aren't telling until we get to 24 weeks, wish I could keep it a secret for a bit longer but I'll have to tell at work at that point 😂

summerpoolandsun · 06/02/2023 20:33

@ScrantonDunderMifflin I get you. I don’t want the wider world to know till at least 24 weeks because that’s when baby is viable x

Kladebs · 06/02/2023 20:42

@ScrantonDunderMifflin im back for a rescan on Thursday, it took 40 mins to get everything they needed for baby boy, then after half hour of trying to get everything with baby girl, they gave up and booked a rescan.
Then got the joys of another cervical scan next week 😂
Then 4 weekly growth scans start from end of Feb.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 06/02/2023 20:50

Has anyone booked an NCT course or similar? It's our first and I am aware that with our nieces and nephews we have only scratched the surface of caring for a new born.
Of course everyone we know who has had a baby has 'advice', I think it might help us.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 06/02/2023 21:21

@DrinkingAllTheGin Haven't booked any courses. I've got a 7.5 year old and forgot how to do bottles and stuff now but we're going to wing it! I remember changing DD first time in hospital. I had a drip in, catheter and blood drain so could barely move. I managed to make it work haha. I'm sure it'll come back to me.

Kelvie103 · 06/02/2023 21:42

@DrinkingAllTheGin I've booked on the NCT course after a few people recommended it to me. I have absolutely no idea how to look after a baby so hoping they start with the basics. Also hoping to make some friends from it as I moved counties a few years ago and don't really have any nearby.

summerpoolandsun · 06/02/2023 21:50

We did the NCT classes for our first. It was really good. The best thing was they prepared you for the birth and not just the fairytale but if things don’t go to plan. She said if the emergency button is hit there might be 10 medics in the room and it will feel scary but they all have a role, and follow protocol and are prepared. This is what happened when our baby was in distress and I was relieved to know that this was a ‘standard’ emergency if you know what I mean! Basically it didn’t come as such as shock as if I had been naive about complications…we did a roleplay of the situation which kind of made you feel prepared for it.

HasHus86 · 06/02/2023 21:54

@ScrantonDunderMifflin My 20 week scan isn’t until next Thursday, I’ll be 21 weeks then. I’m due right at the end of June (29th June) so I’m quite behind many of you.

I’ve also not had much luck with feeling the baby move. I do get the odd flutters but nothing too exciting lol. I do have an anterior placenta so that explains it. Looking forward to feeling all the big kicks soon!

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 06/02/2023 21:58

@HasHus86 I'm just one day ahead with the due date so we're pretty close 😊

justbelieve · 07/02/2023 10:57

Just had my 20 week scan, confirmed we’re having a little boy 💙 notes state everything looks normal which is a huge relief! Also had my whooping cough vaccine today.

I know there was a couple of ladies with their 20 week scans today, so thinking of you and hoping all goes well!

Another milestone ticked off, can’t believe I’m half way ❤️

theblueflowers · 07/02/2023 11:15

Hey @justbelieve I had my 20 week scan yesterday and it really does feel like such a milestone!

Was just so happy to see everything looking normal, I couldn't quite believe it. It has made it feel far more real now.

We also found out we're having a boy 💙

Belami · 07/02/2023 12:06

Congrats for everyone who's had their 20 week scan! I had mine a few weeks ago now and it was such a massive relief.

We've booked onto the bump and baby and baby club which is like an nct alternative! We liked that it encompassed baby first aid and it was slightly cheaper. From the reviews I've read it's possibly slightly more modern than the standard nct too but I get it totally depends on the trainer! Looking forward to it but classes don't start until April and run until end of May so hoping I get to go to them all.

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 07/02/2023 14:09

@theblueflowers so pleased for you, hoping I'll be saying the same tomorrow after my re-scan 🌸

justbelieve · 07/02/2023 14:40

@theblueflowers congratulations! So glad everything went okay! I completely agree, it feels so much more real now

Hlc86 · 07/02/2023 15:35

Aww glad everyones 20 week scans went well, I've got mine tonight so I'm excited! And I think she has finally popped abit at 21 weeks, although everyone still thinks I'm making it up as haven't got a obvious bump 😂

DrinkingAllTheGin · 07/02/2023 17:28

Bitten the bullet and booked on a NCT course.
DH is a first aid instructor and I've done one every 2 years including paediatric first aid so that side is less required.

pippabg · 07/02/2023 17:50

Congrats to everyone who had their scan! I had mine 2 weeks ago and I agree with the comment about the NHS scan being very clinical. Like in one way, I know that's the whole point and that's why it's important, but I didn't feel I got to see my baby, just his different parts!

Interesting reading the 3am posts. Initially, I was thinking I was lucky that my sleep hadn't been disrupted, but the last few nights I've been up every two hours for the toilet and struggling to get back to sleep each time. Ribs also feeling sore from side sleeping and just ordered a pregnancy pillow far early than I expected to! Hope it helps!

I've also booked NCT, partly to learn, but also to meet people as we are new to the area. Seen they, or perhaps someone connected, does a short (and far cheaper) baby first aid course too, which I think I'm going to do too!

Feeling my bump come along. Feels quite big for a FTM at 22 weeks!

I can’t find many NCT classes in my area, did those of you that said NCT book direct through the NCT website? I’m going to ask my midwife but my next appointments not until 24th Feb so hopefully it’s not too late then.

AngelBlue12 · 07/02/2023 18:48

@Hlc86 hopefully it’s just gestational hypertension, I’ve had it in 3 pregnancies so far, the only differences I’ve had to not having it is being on Labetalol to control the blood pressure, slightly more midwife check ups to keep an eye on bp and being induced on my due date as they don’t like you going over due when you are on beta blockers. Also baby will have to have 2 or 3 blood sugar tests post birth to make sure they are maintaining their levels before you are allowed home.

@ScrantonDunderMifflin not had my 20 week yet, booked for the 21st feb when I’ll be 23 weeks.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 07/02/2023 18:50

@Junebaby30 I went to the NCT website and put in my postcode. They had quite a few in my area.

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 07/02/2023 21:10

Need someone to tell me off 😂
Baby's been quiet today (in reality, it's probably moving lots but I can't feel due to position, etc) and I'm anxious. I know 20 weeks is too early to expend regular patterns and movements but there used to be a party in my belly every evening.
I think I did feel some movements today though... In fact, think I've just been kicked typing this!
Ohhh, bring on the scan tomorrow!
