@BellaTheDarkOverlord omg, she’s out in the world and looks so perfect! Congrats on doing such an amazing job growing her all those weeks and getting her here safe. She sounds like a real fighter, just like her mum. I hope everything keeps going well in hospital and you get to hold her soon. It sounds like a traumatic start and so I hope you’re being well looked after too xx

I have OCD and that dog hair pic is giving me serious anxiety i have to keep skipping past it ! Haha. We have 2 cats but they don't malt too much and they're not allowed in the bedrooms or on the sofa unless it's on a throw that I can then vamoosh. All pet owners please tell me you have tried vamoosh? It's magic ! Cats love to sit in cribs and cots and prams etc don't they. We were quite strict with our 1st child as we were worried they'd climb in with him and lie around his face but they were good actually.

How is everyone getting on with their baby purchases? We have bought 99% second hand this time. We have a lot from our boy but anything we sold on we have re purchased via FB marketplace or Vinted. Vinted clothing is brilliant. Some of the 0-3 and 3-6 stuff is still tagged! I guess everyone over buys for babies clothing wise.
I've made a start on my hospital bag as our Son was a bit early. I've invested in a power bank and long charger cable, earbud headphones, see-through toiletry/organiser bags for when I am screaming at DH for something mid contraction and he can't find it lol. Got some Primarily flipflops and new button down PJs.

I'm thinking of getting spritz for bitz. Has anyone used it? And also a peri bottle? I feel like I could have really done with those the first time round for the healing process as my stitches didn't heal well and I never really did anything about it. Apparently those witch Hazel pads to go into the sanitary towels are soothing too. Does anyone have any reviews of these sort of products?

Congratulations Bella, she’s gorgeous! Please keep us updated!

im 31+2 now and struggling so much with sacroiliac pain. I’m struggling to carry on with my job (I work clinically in the NHS). After a day at work, I’m completely incapacitated. I can’t move around the house, mobilise in bed etc.is anyone else struggling?
I walk with one foot constantly turned out 🥴
This is my first baby so all very new to me.
Any good suggestions for hospital bag essentials?

What’s everyone’s thoughts on natural labour inducements?

I’ve started to research raspberry leaf tea and seen that it’s recommended you start with a cup a day at 32 weeks and gradually increase it to 3 per day by the time your full term. I still need to do some more research on whether it’s safe though.

Is anyone else planning to drink it?

BobbySD345 · 02/04/2023 12:15

@skyofdiamonds sorry to hear you are struggling. I would go and see the GPZ as they may recommend signing you off even just temporarily until the pain subsides. Alot of workplaces tend to accommodate pregnancy particularly late on and put mums on light duties. Is this possible in your role?

Re hospital bag it's hard to know what you'll need because each Birth experience varies but I would definitely recommend packing a straw or a bottle with a straw so you can sip water between contractions with ease. A hair bobble. Definitely a long charging lead so if your OH goes home he can plug it in by the bed and it stretches to you without you having to get out of bed. Lipbalm if you use gas and air as it makes your mouth and lips so dry.
Decent maternity sanitary towels are a must. They do these in the baby aisle.
I also really enjoyed a scented face mist to keep me feeling fresh when I didn't feel up to going to the loo for a proper face wash or if I was a bit hot (it's boiling hot on the maternity wards). I got zero use out of my dressing gown for this reason. I was melting.
Button down PJs for skin to skin and/or feeding if you are going to try this.
Another big one my friend recommended which was good was the tiny formulas for newborns with the little teats on. My DS came early and my milk hadn't come in so we ended up using the tiny aptimil ones. We are considering cow and Gate this time as its cheaper 🙈
Trying to think what else...water wipes as midwives don't like you using baby wipes but seem OK with those.
I've also got a powerbank and headphones this time.
I'd love to hear what other things people are taking!

firsttimelondonmummy · 02/04/2023 12:19

@BobbySD345 its a sofa cover and hoovers/ lint rolls straight off 😂
I’m an OCD clean freak and you definitely get used to it and it’s easy to remove.
He doesn’t come upstairs either so it’s only ever the sofa I need to regularly hoover.

Also re the hospital bag Frieda do a kit with loads of bits in.
I’ve just grabbed that so that it’s all together.
We’ve then bought spritz for bits and lanolin separate.

@firsttimelondonmummy lanolin is an absolute god send if you're going to try and breast feed! I've not seen those kits before I'll have a mooch ! I'm currently trying to find a nuby rapid cool flask for if we bottle feed.

Hlc86 · 02/04/2023 16:10

Are we on this thread or thread 5? I'm confused 😂

firsttimelondonmummy · 02/04/2023 18:16
