@Janefx40 thank you for the advice, so helpful and much appreciated! DH and I are going to sit down today and talk through what options at what point, so I will definitely ask for the epidural at the same time as the drip, although hoping the pessary will get things going. I've been trying to harvest colostrum for the last 3 days to see if that might help as well, to absolutely nothing and this morning's go actually worked! Nothing I can save but has given me a boost that at least something is going on in my body 😂

@MRSDoos good luck! Wishing you a speedy induction and let us know how you go! ❤️

Blue2020 · 01/05/2023 11:19

@MO22 good luck with the induction and hope it all goes smoothly. You will soon be meeting your little one.

Janefx40 · 01/05/2023 18:56

@MO22 glad it was helpful and good luck!!!

@MRSDoos good luck to you too!

So exciting that we have 2 babies on the way on this thread. Can't wait to hear your news if and when you feel able.

Xxx

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 01/05/2023 20:29

Good luck @MO22 and @MRSDoos ! I have been told the same as others, that particularly hormonal induction with oxytocin can up the need for pain relief but that's okay! It's about proactive planning. Epidural can also be titrated these days so it's not 100% numb Vs searing pain, it can be just enough to keep sensation but reduce pains.

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl ah yes that is a good point. My epidural was on a button that I controlled myself so I could adjust how much pain relief I had at any time and boost it when needed!

Go ladies and have babies!!!

Blue2020 · 01/05/2023 21:28

@MRSDoos good luck with your induction.

MO22 · 02/05/2023 07:32

Good luck today @MRSDoos !

Janefx40 · 02/05/2023 07:47

@MRSDoos god luck xxxxx

Melusina123 · 07/05/2023 12:58

Hi all, sorry I've been a bit quiet, last few weeks were very anxious and I just wanted to lay low as much as possible.

But by way of an update, our little boy arrived on 30 April at 9.06am! Tbh the birth was a bit traumatic, started with induction (not itself traumatic but my cervix was hyper-reactive to the hormones) and ended with a forceps delivery, via a failed epidural and other shenanigans. The good news is that even with all that going on I was able to enjoy the moment he joined the world, and we are delighted to have him home now. ❤️ Recovery from the forceps (and episiotomy) hasnt been too bad either. Hope everyone else is going well!

Blue2020 · 08/05/2023 19:57

@Melusina123 congratulations on your little one. Hope it all goes smoothly during the newborn phase.

Janefx40 · 08/05/2023 21:31

@Melusina123 congratulations on welcoming your little boy.

I hope you're ok. Take good care of yourself. It's a lot to go through and just because it resulted in your lovely baby, doesn't mean you aren't allowed to feel emotional about it. If you need help to come to terms with the birth, then do ask because there is support out there.

Sending love to you xxx

MO22 · 12/05/2023 20:45

Congrats @Melusina123!
Popping on just as an update my side.
Gave birth to baby Jack on 7th May.
Also had a failed induction, hyperstimulated by the pessary twice, absolutely agony of back to back contractions, sweet relief of epidural and then failed to progress (probably to be expected with an induction at 37w!) so C-section.

All in all, a slog but so worth it and midwives and doctors were amazing.

I'm finding C-section recovery v hard actually, but just glad it's all done and still can't believe he's here!

Hope everyone else is doing well x

Melusina123 · 13/05/2023 07:08

@Blue2020 @Janefx40@MO22 O22 thank you! He had some weight/feeding issues so we're mix feeding him, but otherwise everything is going well. I will be taking advantage of the debrief services offered by the hospital in due course, given the complicated delivery I had. I think that will help put everything in its place mentally.

After the long journey we've all been on on this thread I'm just so pleased tohave made it to the end of the pregnancy journey and got him into the world safely. ❤️

@MO22 congratulations and welcome little Jack! I feel for you recovering from a CS! Just from the forceps I was on blood thinning injections, iron tablets, antibiotics...!

Janefx40 · 13/05/2023 08:36

@MO22 congratulations on welcoming little Jack! Love the name too.

@Melusina123 so pleased things are going well. I mix fed my daughter for a while and it was great. At the time, the hormones made me feel emotional about it but any way of feeding the baby is just great. The aim is to feed them not to feed them in any particular way. They grow into people and how that happens isn't important once you get to the other side. Just saying that in case it has been an emotional struggle for you too xxx

Blue2020 · 13/05/2023 12:36

@MO22 congratulations.

MRSDoos · 14/05/2023 18:25

Congratulations to everyone that has had their babies. Our baby was born on 3rd May. He was in neonatal ward for a week due to feeding issues but is now home and doing well xx

ArrrMeHearties · 14/05/2023 19:15

I find out tomorrow if baby will be here this week or not

Janefx40 · 14/05/2023 19:28

@MRSDoos glad he is now home

@ArrrMeHearties exciting!

I'm booked in for a c section on Tuesday morning. 2 days to go

MRSDoos · 14/05/2023 19:30

@Janefx40 I hope all goes well, how are you feeling? I went in to have an induction and after 24 hours of pessary not working I asked for an elective c and it was the most positive experience x

Janefx40 · 14/05/2023 19:55

@MRSDoos I'm ok thanks. I'm just nervous that something with happen to the baby between now and then. We're so close now I just want him out now.

Glad you found the elective a positive experience. My section last time came after 48 hours of failed induction. It was ok but a bit overwhelming. This time I hope it is smoother.

Xxx

MRSDoos · 14/05/2023 20:06

@Janefx40 Yes I was the same, even during my c section I was holding my breath waiting to hear him cry!

Blue2020 · 14/05/2023 20:36

@MRSDoos congratulations on your little one.

@Janefx40 and @ArrrMeHearties good luck and I hope it l goes well and smoothly for you.

Janefx40 · 16/05/2023 14:34

He's here 💕

Due April/May after loss - thread 2 🌈🌈
Janefx40 · 16/05/2023 14:46

8 lb 14 oz. All fine although the section was long because my uterus wouldn't contract

MO22 · 17/05/2023 04:12

@Janefx40 congrats he is gorgeous! So many baby boys 💕 and congrats to you too @MRSDoos

@Melusina123 the recovery is no joke! I've found it quite hard, and also on injections, iron for blood loss, as well as laxatives and hard core pain killers! I hope the elective C-sections are a smoother recovery.

How is everyone getting on?
