@Melusina123 was this an appointment with the midwife? It sounds like it may be more important to do your counselling but see what they say? You might be able to pop into the Labour ward if you're worried and they'd do a urine test, blood pressure and listen in there anyway.

@ArrrMeHearties sorry about the GD. What a pain for you. Sorry your DH also got bad news today. Hope all is ok

Blue2020 · 09/03/2023 09:27

@Janefx40 the babies movements finally improved from yesterday afternoon and I can feel them more again now. It’s like each trace he was sleeping for the whole hour with no accelerations/typical jumps and the midwives and doctor wasn’t hugely happy with the first 4-5 that failed. Adding that I hardly felt movements in that first day, and the scan was fine but even in the scan she commented he wasn’t really active. Then yesterday he started improving where the midwife would be ok with the pattern even though the machine wasn’t, and now the past three met the criteria. They kept me in yesterday for another reason- my bp yesterday morning suddenly went to 144/100. It only happened the once that high but a few of them have been fairly high, 130s and 89-98, no idea why, it’s back to normal now though. I wonder if the increased bp and lack of movements were linked.

Hoping to go home today once the doctor appears.

Blue2020 · 09/03/2023 18:28

I made it home.

MO22 · 11/03/2023 09:27

@Blue2020 glad you made it home and everything has improved.

I'm on my way in to hospital now as I've barely felt him since yesterday 4pm which is quite unusual.
I'm wondering if my placenta has finally moved up, and as it's anterior it's changing what the movements feel like and muffling then?! Maybe I'm clutching at straws.

Very stressful.

Janefx40 · 11/03/2023 10:56

@MO22 I know it's terrifying because that was me a few weeks ago and I was in total bits heading to the hospital. But chances are everything is just fine and you'll be in the right place when you get there.

I also keep comforting myself with the fact that if born now, the baby would be very prem but expected to be fine

@Blue2020 glad you're home and all is well x

Melusina123 · 11/03/2023 13:11

@Janefx40 I took the call in the end that counselling was more important. After trying multiple times without success with the reception I got into a midwife who was like, "oh no you shouldn't miss that appointment" and found me a spot on Tuesday. I guess there must have been a cancellation between when I spoke to reception that morning and when I spoke to the midwife around noon....

Anyway I'm glad I have an appointment as I'm feeling a bit stressed today. I haven't put in any weight since last weighed myself month ago... I'm telling myself it's because I put on a lot of weight already (+11kgs) so probably a lot of that is going to the baby now and offsetting their growth, and I had COVIDso might have lost a bit of (water) weight there. But I also don't feel very big for 32 weeks. Still definitely in the zone where if I'm engaging all my code muscles I could just be apple-shaped, not pregnant. Was expecting to be/feel huge by now, but I feel fine. Which should feel like a win, but of course that's not how the anxious brain works. As far as I can tell fundal height is about where it should be (I've become a home measurer) so I think they're just going up rather than out, but combined with the lack of weight gain I'm fretting. Will be glad to speak to a midwife.

@MO22 I hope everything turns out ok for you today, and @Blue2020 glad your bub eventually passed monitoring!

Blue2020 · 11/03/2023 16:09

@MO22 you are doing the right thing by getting checked/monitored. Hope it all goes well.

Thanks everyone. I have no idea why I had the few days of minimal movements, but he eventually picked back up to his usual pattern. It was also nice being there with midwives close by monitoring him with the ctg when I couldn’t feel him like usual.

MO22 · 12/03/2023 07:53

@Blue2020 @Melusina123 @Janefx40 thanks all, of course as soon as I got there he started having a party and it was all fine. Midwives really nice though and said I'd done the right thing which made me feel a bit less silly!

He's been bloody active since.
I think actually being monitored was a good thing - even the small movements count and I think I've been only fixating on when he's properly dancing about in there and maybe expecting too much?

It's all a bit of a minefield really.
Off for a pregnancy massage today with my sister (who is also pregnant!) so looking forward to some R&R! Hope you all have lovely Sundays x

Blue2020 · 12/03/2023 08:39

@MO22 thats great to hear. One midwife said don’t count hiccups but everything else should count. I count when he moves/rolls over, even gentle prods.

Myotherusernameisaferrari · 15/03/2023 05:59

So despite not being due until May 2023, my twins have put in an early appearance...! Fortunately they're doing well although expected to be in NICU for the foreseeable.

Janefx40 · 15/03/2023 08:13

@Myotherusernameisaferrari oh my goodness! Congratulations. I'm glad they're doing ok. What do they weigh? How are you feeling? Xxx

Anoushka1986 · 16/03/2023 09:59

@Myotherusernameisaferrari congratulations! I've been wondering when the first baby would arrive. How many weeks are they? Hope you are feeling okay. X

Blue2020 · 16/03/2023 16:59

@Myotherusernameisaferrari congratulations. Aww hope you and the little ones are doing ok.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 16/03/2023 17:33

Gosh @Myotherusernameisaferrari ! Congratulations and I hope all three of you are well.

@Myotherusernameisaferrari huge congratulations to you all, hope everyone is doing well x

Myotherusernameisaferrari · 17/03/2023 08:44

Thanks all for the love and apologies forb the delay - we're at the hospital a lot at present understandably. They were only 30+4 so far too early! Twin 1 was 2lb10 and twin 2 3lb6. They're both in NICU but so far (touching wood, with everything crossed and a bit of a prayer to anyone or anything listening!) they're both doing well and the doctors are really pleased with them. I'm managing fine physically which helps - I was discharged Wednesday so am home.

Blue2020 · 29/03/2023 18:30

@Myotherusernameisaferrari hope you and the little ones are all still well and progressing along.

How is everyone doing?

I have preeclampsia. Although it’s the early stage/mild, I don’t really have the severe symptoms. It’s been picked up from high bp, urine and my blood work. So I’m now on medication to keep my bp in a good range, and I need to visit midwives twice a week for regular bp checks.

They did mention that they likely wouldn’t let me go over the due date, but I haven’t talked to a consultant yet. That was just the hospital doctor and a midwife making the comment at the weekend. So I guess I have 5ish weeks left all being well. Here was me thinking I would go over the date by the maximum amount, now it could even be an April baby.

Melusina123 · 29/03/2023 20:43

@Blue2020 sorry to hear about the pre-eclampsia, but glad it's being picked up and managed!

Everything fine here, started to get a bit tired of being "solely responsible" for this baby; I.e. I would like them out in the world now, please, where my partner can also help and it's not just me worrying about everything. I've started to get PGP as well, which has definitely ended a run of about 15 weeks of feeling pretty good. Finishing up work at Easter though, so just got to hang in there until then.

Janefx40 · 29/03/2023 22:54

@Blue2020 yes sorry about the pre-eclampsia. Do you feel unwell?

@Melusina123 I had to google PGP. I'm not sure if I have it or not. It's hard to walk after sitting for ages but not sure if that's the same.

I'm excited at meeting the baby soon (6w5days left) but also sad that I'll never be pregnant again! Had a "baby weekend" away with friends last weekend which was lovely.

Blue2020 · 02/04/2023 19:47

@Melusina123 @Janefx40 thankyou, I felt ok in general. I went back in on Thursday after a general checkup picked up high bp dispute the meds, baby wasn’t meeting criteria and my blood work was starting to indicate issues. By Friday it was getting a bit worse so they discussed induction, said take my time to think about it. Yesterday morning we decided we would go for induction once the labour wards got quieter over the next 48hrs. It was getting to the point that we would both be better off with him out rather than in with the slowly worsening conditions. However through the day yesterday I got a bit worse, the baby stopped having movements from 8am onwards and his hr was more flat than a zigzag. By 6pm the doctor said he might not fair well putting him through contractions, so it got moved to emergency CS. I had him last night at 7:30pm. He’s five weeks early but appears to be doing ok in the neonatal unit. On a feeding tube to see how he gets on. Our May baby became an April baby.

I hope the next few weeks go smoothly for you both, and anyone else in that last stretch. Can’t wait to see more posts over the next several weeks regarding new arrivals.

Blue2020 · 02/04/2023 19:53

This is the difference in the two ctg’s. Although even the one that looks ok (zigzag) I wasn’t feeling any movements by that point. Both failed to meet criteria but that was standard for the baby.

Oh my goodness @Blue2020 - welcome to the world, little one. I hope he does well in neonatal. How are you doing?

I'm overall okay. Extremely stressed finishing work, getting tired now, some carpal tunnel some SPD. Otherwise just counting down the minutes till I go on maternity leave!!!

@Blue2020 congratulations on having your boy!! Glad he's doing well. Sorry it came at the end of so much stress. That must be a lot to process. Hope you're recovery ok. C sections are no fun!!! X

MRSDoos · 03/04/2023 11:50

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet on this group. I’ve been struggling mentally so much with this pregnancy and I’m still struggling to convince myself all will be OK

Congratulations for those that have met their babies already - such lovely news although can imagine that having baby early comes with worries so must be a tough time too xx

I’m 35 weeks tomorrow with baby boy. Hope everyone else is doing well

Janefx40 · 03/04/2023 14:18

@MRSDoos sorry you've been struggling. Have you asked for help? I'm due to see the mental health midwife this afternoon. Not sure what it will be like but can report back. I found my midwife ignored me when I said I was anxious so I had to go in the next time and say specifically "I need help" and then I got referred straight away.
