Ordered a couple little knitted cardigans from Etsy, I would love to learn to crochet, is it best to watch you tube videos to learn? Lol

i ordered a personalised blanket form the cuddle company. I had one for my last daughter when she was born, they do bugs ones as well so I’ve ordered my daughter one for her birthday

Argh just had the most frustrating phonecall with the midwife team.

Last few days I have had awful pain under the heel and arch of one foot to the point I can't even go for a walk and I've always been super active so it's a big deal for me. Anyway I have put my name down for accupuncure etc but need a more short term fix before I go crazy! so I asked if there's anything more I can do as paracetamol isn't of help etc. Eg is there a gel or something I can try or have they got any tips and tricks they might know of....They said I don't know maybe try Google or go to a&e to which I cried 🙄(I think the hormones have hit)

My actual midwife has been great but the triage helpline is so poor.

@Perexi my foot pain is one foot. Noticed it if I get up in the night, at first it felt kinda like pins and needles as I put my foot down (but it's not pins and needles).

Its fine once I start walking etc. It feels like skin is stretching, like the start of a blister. Wasn't sure if pregnancy related or an injury as I'm a runner.

ToffeeEl · 20/01/2023 23:37

@JB2021 I've found H&M and George have a few multi packs in neutral colours, also some nice patterned ones

@ToffeeEl thank you. We may have to visit a store rather than online then!

Mines quite a sharp pain and I think it's plantar fascitis as the pregnancy hormones kick in the ligaments loosen up a bit and this gets a bit inflamed. This basically runs from the heel to toes but normally you would take ibuprofen and do so stretches. I just hoped they could help with there experience and say oh paracetamol won't help but have you thought of ibroprofen gel or something.... going to a&e was one suggestion which seemed excessive 🤣

I'm doing the stretches but it's slow going and I just miss being active and yesterday I basically sobbed at the thought of being unable to do things for 10 weeks. I'm not a dramatic person but I think it just got to me! Non pregnant me does bootcamps and goes for run's a few times a week and going for long walks is saving my head at the moment .

Apparently lot's of people's feet loosen up and get bigger in pregnancy so it could be a bit of stretching!

I am absolutely fuming. Woken up and not gone back to sleep, thought I'd have a look at my badgernotes app to see if anymore recommended reading things to look through. Noticed on my appointments that what is supposed to be a 34 week scan because of my placenta, which they already pushed back a few days without me having any idea, has now been cancelled and replaced with one a whole week later the same day as consultant can see me. He doesn't have to be in the day of the scan so I don't know why! The midwife basically suggested that having a consultant appt the week later was cutting it a bit short to discuss and sort some things out (low ferritin etc aswell which I've still not received any call about) and now the whole lot is later! I'm highly anxious about it and this has really wound me up.
If I go into labour it could be really dangerous and now I have to go even longer to find out how unsafe it is. I feel like there's been a massive mix up with what midwife requested. They'd somehow put two scan appts on but have since removed the earlier one which would at least help me mentally prepare more. So done with the hospital systems messing me around so much when it comes to appts. Especially when I was referred to the mental health team for anxiety! (They only made 1 call not heard since) Now I have to make more calls to find out why the scan was cancelled and made for a whole week later. I should be offered more scans depending how things go and with the two week between scans rule they're messing up the timings of them meaning I'm getting worried I'll end up in an emergency situation.
Sorry for the rant just need to vent before I'm on the phone crying and they can't understand me!!

Flittingaboutagain · 21/01/2023 09:43

I'm sorry you're getting messed around! It's so bad finding these things out via the website/app. I had a consultant appointment booked which I thought was for X then my midwife appointment was cancelled because it was a day later. All via the app. When I queried it I was told it was a waste of resources to see two professionals the same week! Even though the things needing to be discussed were totally different.

Wow I would be fuming at that response. Sorry you had to experience that!

ChristmasJumpers · 21/01/2023 10:35

We're off to the hospital with reduced movement! I always feel I'm overreacting with these things. I have felt her move this morning, but literally one little movement and nothing since then for the last 3 hours. She also didn't move at all at bedtime, which is her only reliable time 😣 I'm sure all will be okay, but it just plays on your mind until you know for sure!

It's just extra stress you don't need isn't it!? So they think it's a waste of resources making sure people are healthy? I agree some things are the same but I've learnt consultant and midwife have different opinions on whats ok and what isn't and like you say some topics are different!

When I had previous appointments close together and I said about seeing consultant aswell the midwife said they still needed to see me. I know they have said that their systems and hospital systems don't always "talk to each other" but it seems even when a midwife specifically requests something it still can get messed up.

It's the fact we have to keep querying and chasing up almost every appointment (& hardly have the time to) that winds me up. It takes away any confidence I had in them getting things right.

AK93 · 21/01/2023 11:25

@ChristmasJumpers hope all is ok xxx

Dreamingof3 · 21/01/2023 12:00

Let us know how you get on @ChristmasJumpers x

ChristmasJumpers · 21/01/2023 13:10

All fine as suspected. I was on the monitor for 20 minutes and it recorded loads of movement that I just couldn't feel. I had a total of 5 kicks that I actually felt once they put the monitor on my belly (I don't think baby liked it 😅)
Heart rate all fine though and she was definitely having a wriggle as she kept moving in and out of range for the doppler!

havanamama · 21/01/2023 13:42

Great news @ChristmasJumpers ! I had the same situation before Christmas

I'm sure they know exactly what they're doing. She's kicking away now that I'm back at home

JB2021 · 21/01/2023 14:12

@Perexi I had wondered about it being PF too. I got upset in case it means I can't run but only hurts after not moving then putting foot on ground. Walking and running ok so fingers crossed

havanamama · 21/01/2023 15:24

Question for those with babies due at the start of March - what outdoor clothing have you got for your baby?

Do I need pram suits, or would baby be ok in onesies, cardigans(thick ones), and blankets?
Typically March is quite warm but I see this year it's predicted to only be +9 +12. 🧐

Due start of March..I’ve literally got a knitted cardigan and that’s it. I’ll probs use that and a blanket when we go out. Doubt we will venture far first week or two so if it’s cold I’ll send my partner to get a thicker jacket after he’s born. Deffo won’t need a snow suit might get one of those fleece blankets with built in hoods to keep him cosey x

Cuppasoupmonster · 21/01/2023 16:21

I’ve bought one fleece suit and one waterproof pramsuit. I live by the coat which can be windy which makes it feel colder, I’ll probably do quite a lot of beach walks with the buggy or sling. I have bought a few cardigans from Vinted but annoyingly my Nan phoned this morning and offered to knit some so I should’ve just saved the money! Bubs will be very cosy though.

alotoftutus · 21/01/2023 16:22

@havanamama

I've got this pram suit https://www.next.co.uk/style/st292366/m47435?dp=a&dndl=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAt66eBhCnARIsAKf3ZNFfOQByRqcdjTpL0tr3MI8lnLLd4i-xQiP8A9qCRrU4bsa556HEVkaApAMEALwwcB&gclsrc=aw.ds#m47435 from Tesco (although next are selling F&F now too).
It's quite a light one but I think it will definitely be used in March.

Dreamingof3 · 21/01/2023 17:06

I'm due mid march but I've not got anything too thick and just planning to layer if needed. A vest, sleepsuit, cardigan and a blanket should be plenty of it isn't freezing

Room4onemore · 21/01/2023 17:12

I’m due the 17th and I’ve bought a knitted all in one from Asda just incase

Due March 2023 - Thread 6
Cuppasoupmonster · 21/01/2023 17:20

I bought this plus a fluffy white zip up fleece suit
from Vinted:
direct.asda.com/george/baby/coats-pramsuits/disney-winnie-the-pooh-navy-hooded-snowsuit/GEM932602,default,pd.html

Babies feel the cold a bit more than we do. I remember the HV saying in general they need
one extra later than we would wear.

Cuppasoupmonster · 21/01/2023 17:20

That’s gorgeous @Room4onemore

Perexi · 21/01/2023 17:35

We got a little coat for him from JoJo maman bebe (via vinted) and have a warm fleecy blanket just incase it's still quite chilly but haven't bought any big snowsuit type outfits and hopefully by the time we're out and abouts lot's it will be warmer
