Good morning!

Thank you all for your responses about PGP, helpful advice about putting it into the birth plan!
When is that written? At the 31/32 week midwife appointment or later?

Cdoc · 03/01/2023 09:41

Thank you @TeddyBeans for the new thread!

Exciting and slightly terrifying we could start meeting our babies in the not too distant future 😊

Dreamingof3 · 03/01/2023 09:52

Ahhh it's getting so close!

GreenIsle · 03/01/2023 09:56

I haven't started to purchase anything yet at 31 weeks. We had a lot if expensive pre Christmas purchases due to house move so waiting to end of January and will buy everything in one go, I will start to prepare a hospital bag though now. It's our 3rd so know exactly what we need and have a few things from youngest dc.

Cats23 · 03/01/2023 09:57

@Thirdtimesacharm
1st- C section, 2nd vbac-3.5hrs, 3rd vbac 1hr 4th 10hrs!!!!! ( she was stubborn!) The last 3Dc were 1st contraction to birth time.
We are also 1hr 10mins from nearest hospital.
I have been reassured again that I will be induced at 40weeks if baby hasnt arrived so thats something as atleast I will be in hospital again in time....hopefully.

Cats23 · 03/01/2023 09:59

I have a growth scan tomorrow ans will be asking for a confirmation if a girl- 20week scan- closed legs, 22week scan, 80% sure a girl!

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 03/01/2023 10:05

Slightly freaked out that we could start meeting babies on this thread 😂

Have the dreaded GTT tomorrow morning, although I've heard its not actually that bad so keeping my fingers crossed!

Clarps84 · 03/01/2023 10:22

Thanks @TeddyBeans for the new thread 😊 just realised I didn’t give you by due date….I’m due 1st of March 💙

Dreamingof3 · 03/01/2023 10:38

I need to get organised. I need some drawers for the baby's clothes 😂, to sort what we have/still need. Start buying nappies/wipes. Get a changing bag, make a list for hospital bag and see what I need to get (most of it probably!) We still need to decide what bottles were getting and how to sterilise. A cot (but that can wait as have a snuzpod for first few months)

Franklin321 · 03/01/2023 10:57

Still have lots to organise, although did buy 1 pack of newborn nappies yesterday 😅 it’s all in the attic, just finding the strength to go up there and start sorting 😵‍💫

Hrf1503 · 03/01/2023 11:43

“The one where we might start meeting our babies” 😱

I start my baby classes tonight, pretty excited but feels like I still have such a long time to go!

This baby is my first and the whole actual giving birth scares me. Have NCT classes next few weeks so hope they ease my worries

Me too! Trying not to think about it 😳 NCT start's next week for us which I hope will help.

Thanks for the new thread @TeddyBeans how exciting that this maybe the thread some babies start arriving!

We're trying to add thing's like nappies and wipes to our food shops to have a bit of a supply but are things like pampers loads better than others? Asda ones say they have won award's etc but just wondered on people's experiences I'm guessing it's like most things and it depends on the baby......

JB2021 · 03/01/2023 11:58

@Perexi glad it's not just me. Got myself really worked up just now. NCT also next week. Leicestershire area.

Lots of shops have baby events this month so look out for those. Tried yo add photo with suspected dates

Franklin321 · 03/01/2023 12:41

@Perexi you’ll probably find a brand that you like the best, I like pampers but they’re so expensive in comparison to own brands! I normally go Fred&Flo Tesco or Aldi Mamia which are a fraction of the cost and just as good (in my opinion!) Haven’t tried Asda but that’s only because its not my normal supermarket and they’re probably just as good as others!

ChristmasJumpers · 03/01/2023 12:44

@JB2021 that's really good to know! I'll be checking out the shops around those dates to see if we can finish off our list of what we need 😊

How amazing that we could actually see some babies born during this thread. I'll (hopefully) be one of the last but so excited to see others journeys

Dreamingof3 · 03/01/2023 13:43

I would probably get a couple of different nappy brands and see what works for you. I absolutely hated pampers, they always leaked for us, never had any issue with Aldi nappies and quite like the Morrisons ones too!

I need to stock up on baby wipes and muslins 😂

What bottles are people going for? We've never formula fed from birth before so it's a bit new to me. I like the mam ones they just seem sooo expensive

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 03/01/2023 13:48

@Dreamingof3 I managed to get a decent sized set of the MAM bottles in boots black friday sale, might be worth keeping an eye on the baby events seeing if they reduce them?

Cats23 · 03/01/2023 14:25

@Perexi I used huggies with my first 2, I found they didnt leak like pampers did...
My last 2x Dc, Ive used Aldia Mamia, cheap and found them really good.
I also use Aldi wipes.

I'm hoping to breastfeed but I got 2 MAM bottles for free during the John Lewis appointment and 1 for free at Window to the Womb. Same with the MAM dummies.

Dreamingof3 · 03/01/2023 14:35

I think I'll be raiding all the baby events.
I like the mam because you don't need a separate steriliser

firstlittleone · 03/01/2023 14:39

Placemarking :)

Franklin321 · 03/01/2023 14:53

@Dreamingof3 we used mam bottles with son so sticking with them for new baby, they do tend to be more expensive than others but I preferred them so just went with it! Would also highly recommend a prep machine if bottle feeding regularly…a life saver in my opinion!! 😅

Katdemar · 03/01/2023 15:17

Is anyone going down the route of using washable nappies, wipes and breast pads?

I'm quite keen on this idea. I think our plan is do washable whilst at home and then use disposable when out and about for convenience.

Katdemar · 03/01/2023 15:18

Also Boots are currently doing an offer of save 15% on selected baby products when you spend £30. Those talking about MAM bottles these are included.
