Question for the non-FTM : how long does it take for all the pregnancy bloat to go down? When did you manage to put rings back on? 😅

I always get bloated in pre-period time, but this is like double! Ugh 😩 (I don't have preeclampsia)

Perexi · 20/01/2023 16:22

Argh just had the most frustrating phonecall with the midwife team.

Last few days I have had awful pain under the heel and arch of one foot to the point I can't even go for a walk and I've always been super active so it's a big deal for me. Anyway I have put my name down for accupuncure etc but need a more short term fix before I go crazy! so I asked if there's anything more I can do as paracetamol isn't of help etc. Eg is there a gel or something I can try or have they got any tips and tricks they might know of....They said I don't know maybe try Google or go to a&e to which I cried 🙄(I think the hormones have hit)

My actual midwife has been great but the triage helpline is so poor.

I’ve never had this!

Managed to see midwife this week who told me they will be suspending the midwife appointments at my GP surgery with immediate effect due to being short staffed.

I completely understand this but am now not sure where I’ll see another midwife. My address puts me between two hospitals and she isn’t sure which team will take me on.

Missed a call from an unknown number whilst in a meeting this afternoon, but they didn’t leave a message, so I’m not sure who to try and call back and see if I can schedule in some appointments as I’ll need to arrange for work cover. Here we are again.

Room4onemore · 20/01/2023 17:47

We get our red book at the hospital when baby is born. I might look for some knitted cardies for in the house

ChristmasJumpers · 20/01/2023 18:20

Does anyone have any recommendations for a changing bag?

There are so many! No idea if you get what you pay for or if cheap and cheerful is fine. I'm totally clueless in this area.

I've seen "lebaby" bags which seems to come with all the mod cons but they are on the expensive side

We have this one from Amazon, it's like 41£, depending on the colour.

Really good and spacious, fits everything I need for baby for up to 3 days in hospital, so will be handy on days out.

This might be a stupid question, but can you wear glasses during an elective c section? Google gives mixed results and looks like contacts are out in case I needed a general anaesthetic. But I really don't want it to be a blur!

I'll ask my midwife of course but would be good to know if people have experience of this 🙂

Franklin321 · 20/01/2023 19:07

@LaForza101 I wore my glasses during my emcs 😊

Dreamingof3 · 20/01/2023 19:16

@LaForza101 I wore mine!

muminlndn · 20/01/2023 19:21

@ChristmasJumpers I got a lekebaby one on Amazon with my first over 4 years ago and it's still going strong. It's had near daily use carrying my daughters stuff to & from childcare so I'd personally say the cost is more related to aesthetic! I might use it again as a changing bag with baby #2 as my daughter doesn't need it anymore

allthingssparkly · 20/01/2023 19:24

I got my changing bag from a company called Gigl. Not the cheapest mind but I did get a good discount on mine in the BF sale. Worth a nosy though, they're vegan leather and such good quality. X

ChristmasJumpers · 20/01/2023 19:31

@LaForza101 that is a good question, I can't see a thing without my glasses so glad to see some responses saying you can keep them on!

@havanamama I might have just ordered the bag 🫣 can't argue with over 1.7k 5 star reviews and it looks good/very functional!

It is very nice! Light, loads of departments, good side pockets for wipes, etc ☺️
I also seem to see them everywhere out now! Was in Ikea the other day and saw 3!

ChristmasJumpers · 20/01/2023 19:48

@havanamama quick question, does it.come with a travel changing mat? It says so on Amazon but there are absolutely no images of the mat

LaForza101 · 20/01/2023 19:51

Phew! Thanks @Franklin321 and @Dreamingof3. I was getting a bit emotional thinking I wouldn't be able to see anything!

We've also bought that Amazon changing bag and it does come with a small travel mat @ChristmasJumpers

Thank you! That's another thing ticked off the list 😁

Babynum2 · 20/01/2023 19:57

I got a changing bag with my doona buggy so will use that as it clips on instead of just hanging by the strap.
It's very painful today lots of lightning crotch and stretching low down I forgot about this bit! I have my babyshower tomorrow and my mum has said she's gone overboard with the presents I've just told her thankyou but can I please not have to sit and open infront of everyone!!

Yes, it's just a mat though, no pockets for wipes etc

havanamama · 20/01/2023 20:38

I'm so happy it's the weekend, 5 more weeks of work. Knackered!

iratepirate · 20/01/2023 21:22

I got one which also has a little cot section in it.

JB2021 · 20/01/2023 22:53

Best place got neutral sleepsuits/baby grows with long legs and arms?

They all seem either boys or girls not neutral.

Reasonable price too please!!!

firstlittleone · 20/01/2023 23:19

Does anyone have any recommendations on what to take when you’ve got a nasty cold and a chesty cough? feel like I’ve got a constant itch in my throat and no idea what I can take!

ToffeeEl · 20/01/2023 23:37

@JB2021 I've found H&M and George have a few multi packs in neutral colours, also some nice patterned ones

I was told to gargle with salt water, use the halls soothers, drink teas, but it made no difference, so ended up on antibiotics

It's so hard to cough when heavily pregnant.
