Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

@laurapalmer22 that’s great news about your scan! Did you get your blood test result there and then? I think back 8 years ago with my daughter I got a letter in the post a few days later with the risk numbers.

@DandelionPockets I’m feeling anxious about mine on Wednesday too. I’m so scared I’m going to be told it’s a mmc or something is wrong.

laurapalmer22 · 13/02/2023 21:08

@allgoodthings84 Not there and then but I got the results in the hospital app just a few hours later. Shocked out how quick it was!

allgoodthings84 · 13/02/2023 21:16

@laurapalmer22 oh wow I hope my hospital has an app like that. Did you get given log in details today?

laurapalmer22 · 13/02/2023 21:35

@allgoodthings84 I was given the login a few days after I made the self referral, and it was through the app I saw my booking appointment, initial blood test results etc. It's UCLH, they use an app called My Chart by Epic. Really handy.

allgoodthings84 · 13/02/2023 22:01

@laurapalmer22 that does sound really good. My midwife didn’t mention anything like that so guessing the hospital I’m using doesn’t have one. Everything is online for me though but it’s all emailed the midwife said. I don’t have a maternity notes pack with all the paperwork in like I did with my daughter apparently it’s all computerised now.

Augustbabyy · 14/02/2023 08:17

@laurapalmer22 congratulations, must be such a relief & so amazing to see a nice active baby on the screen. My scan is tomorrow and I'm nervous & excited!

May94x · 14/02/2023 08:55

Aww such great news @laurapalmer22 😊

Good luck to everyone with scans this week!! Mine is a week today so hoping this week doesn’t drag too much, I really can’t wait!!

Nik84 · 14/02/2023 09:28

Awww lovely news about scans šŸ˜ I have mine on Thursday, haven’t allowed myself to fully believe this pregnancy yet as I lost my last just before my 12 week scan letter came through šŸ˜ž So I’m preparing myself for bad news but when it comes to it I doubt that will help my emotions if it is and it would still be horrendous. I’m just trying to protect myself. On the positive thinking side, I can’t wait to have my scan and finally tell my girls! They keep asking if I’m ok because I’m so tired, they’ll be relieved I’m not falling apart šŸ˜… I have paper notes still but I’ve also got a QR code to scan for results about baby’s risk. Good luck to all having their scans this week! X

allgoodthings84 · 14/02/2023 12:54

@Nik84 I’m the same after 2 losses so hoping so much everything is all ok. I have a definite hard curve at the bottom of my abdomen now though that wasn’t there a few days ago (or even yesterday) so hoping that’s a very good sign and I’m not just getting really fat šŸ˜‚

Londongirl87 · 14/02/2023 16:15

So glad to hear about the positive scan news! I hope you / we all get reassured in the next week or so and can move on happily to our second trimesters!

allgoodthings84 · 14/02/2023 16:34

@Londongirl87 that’s just made me realise by LMP I’m onto my second trimester on Thursday 😮 I know this will change at the scan tomorrow as I ovulated a few days later than the CD14 they go by but still. It seems to have dragged in some ways but gone quickly in others

DandelionPockets · 14/02/2023 18:13

Hi everyone. Had my dating scan today and everything is going really well. So good to see the baby wriggling and measuring well. Very real now!!
Went with a full bladder and had to do everything I could to hold it in when she was pressing down, oh boy.

And now time to start telling people...

divorcingmumoftwo · 14/02/2023 19:39

Is there another facebook link? I'm due 18th sept.

allgoodthings84 · 14/02/2023 20:29

@DandelionPockets that’s great news 😊 I hope mine goes as well tomorrow. It was bad enough at my 9 week private scan holding it in I’m even more worried about tomorrow as the chances are will be delayed being nhs scan so longer to hold it in šŸ˜‚. I remember with my daughter I had to go toilet and let out a little bit as they said my bladder was too full! It was sooo hard to stop after just a little bit when I needed to go so bad. Says to go with 2 pints but I’m going to do 1 litre (not much under) as that’s what I had with my private scan 3.5 weeks ago and was fine so this should be. I’m only 5ft so guessing all of my body parts are a bit smaller including my bladder šŸ˜‚

laurapalmer22 · 14/02/2023 22:58

@DandelionPockets Great news!

I went to pee 5-10mins before my appointment and both sonographers still complimented me on my full bladder šŸ˜‚

allgoodthings84 · 15/02/2023 12:55

Scan went really well. Everything looking good. Got to wait up to 10 working days for the downs risk result to come through in the post! If it’s high risk I’ll get a phone call in 3-5 working days though but longer than most hospital trusts it seems. So not going to tell my daughter and friends until next Wednesday earliest. We will tell our parents and siblings this weekend though but I’ll probably wait and tell my dad after the result too.

The NT measurement was great though and the nasal bone looked good so fingers crossed be low risk.

Baby didn’t want to play ball though! I had to empty my bladder as it was asleep not in the right position then it didn’t want to get in the right position just kept turning to face forwards or stretching and putting it’s hands up to its face šŸ˜‚ after half hour got everything she needed though. The sonographer used to be a midwife and helped deliver my daughter 7.5 years ago! She can remember me! It was a horrific birth probably why. That was lovely though and she was lovely. She wrote ā€œhello Freyaā€ on one of the scan pics and printed us 9!

Just catching up and loving the positive scans ā¤ļø

I've got my 12 week scan tomorrow, excited but nervous as we haven't had one yet and is our first baby x

May94x · 15/02/2023 16:51

@allgoodthings84 aww lovely pic!! Seems crazy to me that baby sleeps at this stage, I’ve never really give it much thought what they’re doing in there haha. Glad it went well for you

allgoodthings84 · 15/02/2023 17:11

@May94x I’ve heard that babies are nocturnal in the womb as when you move around it lulls them to sleep. They have awake times in the day too of course. I know with my daughter she definitively moved a lot more at night

I’ve got another anterior placenta so will be awhile until I feel obvious movement/kicks again

DandelionPockets · 15/02/2023 19:45

@allgoodthings84 great picture! Glad it all went well :)

Hey guys, I have a benefits question. I'm so disheartened my partner has left me and I'm due 1st of September. I work full time and will be taking maternity leave from August. I will only be grtting 173 pounds a week for my maternity pay. I've never claimed any benefits before and I feel so lost. From July I will need to move in with a friend temporarily. What am I entitled to as I will not be able to afford life at 173 pounds a week and can't live in my friend's place with a baby :( any help appreciated thanks so much
