Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

I bought a pair of maternity over the bump jeans from Vinted yesterday. I pretty much live in jeans. I don’t need them quite yet but i remover with my daughter it went from not needing them to needing them pretty much overnight it was so sudden so want to be prepared and have one pair ready as I’m 10 weeks. I’ll get a couple more pairs after 12-14 week scan. Not buying new though as won’t be wearing for long although I did wear for a couple months after my daughter was born as comfier after a c section. I’ll need to get some massive knickers again šŸ˜‚

Londongirl87 · 28/01/2023 14:03

I also bought a pair of maternity jeans today (as a small treat after giving 5 tubes of blood during my booking appointment this morning!) and they are perfect with the bloat too!
I definitely have a bit of belly and feel wider too lately but I think it is 99% carbs and 1% baby so far šŸ˜†

Iusedtobedontcall · 28/01/2023 16:33

Hi all - I’m 8 weeks 5 days and had a reassuring early scan on Thursday where I saw the little bean and a fast heartbeat. I’m 42 and had a MMC in July, so needed that reassurance!

Owlgirl14 · 28/01/2023 18:28

@allgoodthings84 I tried some stretchier jeans on, a size/2 up and still no good. Just no room in them and I'm only going to get bigger. They didn't have any bigger sizes to try on and it made me feel rubbish that I didn't fit in those.

I'll have to look at over the bump jeans, but thought they'd be too big at this stage. Or do you think they would be ok? Do you order your normal size, or need to go up a few? I really have no idea what I'm going to wear as I'm used to slim fitted clothes.

@Londongirl87 what type of jeans and where from if you don't mind me asking. I struggled looking for jeans today šŸ™

@Iusedtobedontcall I'm glad your scan went well and gave you reassurance. I've held off getting one until 12 weeks, just hoping everything is ok in there!

allgoodthings84 · 28/01/2023 19:24

@Iusedtobedontcall that’s lovely news about your scan 😊

@Owlgirl14 the over bump band stretches over the bump on the pairs I had before so suitable all the way through and they were great after the birth as so comfy. You order your normal size (or up a size if you think you’re gaining weight on bum and legs etc) as maternity clothes are designed to fit a growing baby bump and usually for nursing after but still fit your size so don’t hang off the rest of your body. You can also get under the bump jeans but I didn’t like those as always felt like my tummy was hanging over them šŸ˜‚ so made me feel fat.

allgoodthings84 · 28/01/2023 19:25

@Owlgirl14 I won’t buy much maternity stuff I’ll buy some leggings and some loose clothes as cheaper than maternity but there’s a few maternity bits like jeans and a couple items for work

Londongirl87 · 28/01/2023 19:51

@Owlgirl14 I bought them from H&M in the maternity section, I went 1 size up because I feel overall a bit wider in the legs / bum.

they have the over the bump elastic band which for now is a bit to big but folded down, it is invisible and comfy!

FarmBaby3 · 28/01/2023 20:26

If anyone can find reasonably priced navy maternity leggings then I would love to know where. I had previously bought Dorothy Perkins ones and they were bomb proof. I can't find any just now that aren't £20 per pair.

Owlgirl14 · 29/01/2023 15:22

@Londongirl87 Thanks for the heads up, went into H&M today and got some black over the bump jeans. Surprisingly the over the bump elastic band fits, I do feel like my tummy is bigger this last day or so. Hoping it's just bloat and not actual belly as I've still got a few more weeks to hide it yet!

unluckyinlife · 29/01/2023 15:39

I got a bundle of 2 jeans one pair of leggings, 5 dresses , 2 tops and a jumper for 15, in a bundle off ebay. All next and h&m stuff in great condition. Definitely worth looking xx

allgoodthings84 · 29/01/2023 15:47

@Owlgirl14 at this stage will definitely just be bloat. Baby won’t be showing yet especially for first baby 😊

Owlgirl14 · 29/01/2023 16:46

@allgoodthings84 yes I thought so but as I'm quite skinny it does look like a small bump for me already even though it's mainly bloat šŸ™ˆ

@unluckyinlife thanks, I did look on eBay but sizing differs between brands and I wasn't sure how the over the bump jeans would fit but glad I have one good pair of jeans now for going out and work!

allgoodthings84 · 29/01/2023 18:27

@Owlgirl14 issue is even if it’s just bloat then people still notice something nothing different, I get you totally.

allgoodthings84 · 30/01/2023 16:34

How was everyone’s weekend? Got my scan date through it’s on 15th February so when I’ll be 12+6 by LMP (or 12+3 by my calculations as I ovulated 17dpo not 14dpo). Also got my consultants appointment through which is in mid April time when I’ll be just over 21 weeks so after the 20 week scan.

Londongirl87 · 30/01/2023 17:21

15th of Feb will come so fast @allgoodthings84 !

My NHS scan is on the 20th at 12+3 but I have one next week on the 9th for my NIPT Harmony test which I booked privately (I am a bit worried about the higher risks of trisomy being 36 so we decided to go for it before the NHS scan / combined test for peace of mind).
If everything go well the tell should also tell us the sex of the baby :-)

Moni81 · 30/01/2023 17:59

@allgoodthings84 I also get my scan scheduled for 12+6 by period dates, still way to go 24th February. Just over 9 weeks and my tummy is sticking out way than it should lol and it gets harder. Expanding lower tummy pain started to bother me today, as when I already started to enjoy having more energy, back to square onešŸ˜”

unluckyinlife · 30/01/2023 18:16

My scan is the 20th too @Londongirl87. I should be 12 plus 5 by my last scan or 13 weeks according to the date they estimated to be my due date. Xx

Londongirl87 · 30/01/2023 18:26

@Moni81 I am sure time will pass quickly! And my belly is also expanding but not as much as my boobs which are SO big and so painful since a couple of weeks ago that even wearing a bra hurts!

@unluckyinlife Oh nice! Will it be your first one or have you done an early scan already?

allgoodthings84 · 30/01/2023 18:33

I need to invest in new bras as mine are leaving a bit of a mark now. They aren’t so tight that I’m spilling over but tight enough to leave a mark across my boobs so it won’t be long until spilling out of them. I don’t want to spend much as probably outgrow again before the end but I have big boobs anyway (30/32FF) so can’t get cheap ones.

Londongirl87 · 30/01/2023 19:04

@allgoodthings84 I also bought bigger bras because mine were totally escaping left front and center of my old bras!

I had a breast reduction surgery 15 years ago and I have a lot of scar tissue in my left breast since then which makes it so painful when I have PMS.
I got a full check up last year with a specialist who made me have an MRI because it makes it quite hard to check my breasts for lumps and bumps (the scar tissue feels like big lumps). The pregnancy hormones and my breasts being so swollen are not helping at the moment! I hope it eases a bit during the second trimester.

Babybear12 · 30/01/2023 19:08

Hey guys, I'll be 10 weeks this coming Thursday! (First pregnancy). On week 5&6 I had period like cramps then they went away, now all of a sudden theyre back again! My period use to be around this time each month. I'm so worried :( is this normal at nearly 10 weeks to have period like cramps? I have not had any bleeding but feels like I will! Any feedback would be helpful thanks so much xx

Londongirl87 · 30/01/2023 19:14

@Babybear12 have you had your booking appointment? Can you maybe call your EPU or your GP? Do the cramps last a long time? If there is no bleeding I am sure it is nothing, maybe just some stretching of your uterus or ligaments!

Babybear12 · 30/01/2023 19:20

I had my first antenatal appointment last Thursday and all my blood results came back fine! Should get my scan appointment in next two weeks midwife says. The cramps are not bad like they are bearable like it's a mild period pain if that makes sense! Similar to the cramps I had at 5/ 6 weeks. I've been googling and yes it says what you say stretching ligaments and uterus! I'm just a hypochondriac I think at this stage and worry about every little niggle I get haha. If it gets unbearable ill ring EPU but no bleeding so I and sure everything is OK 🄰

Londongirl87 · 30/01/2023 19:21

@Babybear12 I honestly understand so much, I am also worrying about every little thing lately, I think it is normal :-) They should say everywhere that anxiety is the main first trimester symptom!

I hope it passes soon and I am sure you'll be fine :-)

Cat1424 · 30/01/2023 19:25

Hello!

Im 11+5 according to my cycles but over 12 weeks according to my LMP. I’ve got my scan on Wednesday after what seems like the longest wait when I should be exactly 12 weeks and I am SO nervous. Anyone got any tips for managing the build up?

Sadly my gran died on Friday night so have also been dealing with the loss, which has been incredibly hard amongst up and down symptoms and the anxiety of waiting for the scan.

@Babybear12 I had period type cramps around week 5/6 and I’ve started having them again over the last couple of days but they only come on quickly and then are gone again. I mentioned it to my midwife and she said as long as they’re not long lasting, require you to take pain relief or are accompanied by bleeding then not to worry 😊
