Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

Hi everyone! Can I join? I am almost 36, first time TTC, and got my first positive test last Sunday.

We were supposed to start our first cycle of fertility treatment early January and it was our last ā€œnaturalā€ cycle so I can hardly believe it is happening!

I am 4 weeks exactly today since my last period (my cycles are short, usually 25 days), and not sure in terms of DPO because I did not track this month (the irony!).

I had a blood test on Wednesday which confirmed the pregnancy (HCG was 115) and had another one this morning to check if it has doubled or not. Now waiting for the nurse to call me with the results, and crossing everything to see a good progression!

@Soopyjoopy did you get your HCG blood test results too?

Congratulations everyone!

DandelionPockets · 23/12/2022 15:31

Hiya! I'll join you :) due 01/09/2023.
First time pregnant, 34 years old.
Just getting my head around what 2023 is going to be like and trying to be more excited than scared rn.
Head is a whirlwind right now and my boobs are so sore. Sat in a house full of family with no idea of the thoughts rushing through my head šŸ˜‚

Soopyjoopy · 23/12/2022 15:46

I'm pleased with the numbers, FRER test line is now darker than control and the sticks are suddenly looking fab. I'm in shock!!

372, that was 4+1. How did u get bloods done? i had to go private unless i pay to have more i wont actually know if they are doubling

allgoodthings84 · 23/12/2022 18:07

hi everyone. Start if something very scary but hopefully exciting for us all.

@Soopyjoopy those look great.

I’ve been doctors and got an antibiotic that is ok to be taken during pregnancy (allergic to penicillin) so looking forward to hopefully start feeling better from tomorrow. Bonus is that these shouldn’t be be taken with alcohol so there’s a genuine reason why I’m not drinking over Xmas!

Londongirl87 · 23/12/2022 20:47

Your numbers look great @Soopyjoopy !

Because we were already followed for our upcoming fertility treatment, I emailed the clinic asking what to do and they asked me to come for a blood test. I also paid since we are going private for the treatment due to the long delays with the NHS

That said, they called me to tell me that my HCG had dropped to <10 and that it was an early miscarriage.
I had a good cry and took a home test just to see it ā€œvisuallyā€ā€¦ which came up more positive than any test I’ve done before (picture below)
I called the clinic who said that they do not understand, so they will ask the lab to re-run the blood test on my sample from today, and to come back tomorrow for another blood test

I am keeping my hopes very low and I feel ready for my period to arrive and probably say goodbye to this group but we’ll know for sure tomorrow. Today has been a rollercoaster for sure.

Has anyone decided what to tell family? We're at my parents Christmas mum does everything prawn and salmon no cooking them, if I say I cant have or need them cooking she'll know anyway. I dont drink anyway so don't have that one to get around.

I figure when i had CP I told my parents after anyway so may as well tell them??

allgoodthings84 · 23/12/2022 21:52

@Londongirl87 that’s so weird to have a line that dark with hcg that low. When I had my very early miscarriages/CPs (just before 5 weeks) my tests were negative when I started bleeding and I never got a really strong line so I knew how the second one was going as soon as I took my first test.

@Soopyjoopy we aren’t telling family until after the 12 weeks scan. I told my mum after the first CP and really wished I hadn’t as I know she’s been probably waiting ever since for news (feels more pressure) and she was so upset to see me break down that I don’t want to risk putting her through that again. She lost her first baby at full term (stillborn) so I know it probably brought back feelings and it must have been hard for her to see me so upset.

if you’re going to tell some people if something went wrong anyway then I would tell them if you think you would be ok with them knowing.

I have told one friend and she knows about all 3 of these pregnancies so I’ve got someone to talk to in real life that’s not my partner

cinnamonbiscuit · 23/12/2022 22:14

Is it ok if I join? I don’t know my exact due date, have been trying to figure it out. Clear blue gave me 3+ yesterday, I think I might be around 5.5-6 weeks but it’s all v confusing because I took a test at the start of Dec which was negative, it must have been a day or so too early.

This is my second baby, I fell pregnant by accident in the first lockdown, this is the first time we’ve tried and it happened first month which I wasn’t expecting because I’ve not been ovulating regularly.

Sending best wishes to anyone in here who is still unsure about what’s happening, there’s nothing more stressful than the first twelve weeks!

Is anyone feeling unwell yet? I had terrible sickness with DD, I felt queasy today but not sure if that’s because I know I’m pregnant now šŸ˜…

LuckyStar511 · 23/12/2022 23:10

@Londongirl87 so sorry to hear this. Hopefully there’s been a mistake because your test line is so dark!

@Soopyjoopy we told our parents straight away. They’ll be our support system anyway so thought we might as well share the joy! Won’t be telling anyone else until at least 12 weeks though.

@cinnamonbiscuit i had terrible sickness with my first too. 4+5 today and having waves of nausea but it’s not constant yet thank goodness! I’m wondering if it’s mind over matter at this point though šŸ™ˆ

Hi Ladies. Can I join?

Firstly, congrats! I’m due (estimated) end of August 2023z

First time I’ve been pregnant and following a PCOS diagnosis I was put on metformin as an off label treatment to induce conception. Took 1500mg of metformin each day for eight weeks and (quicker than I expected) I just found out I’m around 5-6 weeks pregnant!

Symptoms: Boobs killing (mainly my nipples), mild belly cramps, nauseous (especially when I can smell food), very tired and unbelievable mood swings.

I don’t have regular periods or cycles so dating using my last cycle is impossible so the early pregnancy unit has taken me on as a patient given the PCOS diagnosis and i today had a TVS which showed the GS at 14mm and the Yolk (measurement unknown as I can’t find it on my notes). She said all looked healthy and she wasn’t concerned and my HCG is 9800 + so no need to continue to get bloods but I am now obviously anxious that my next scan (a week today) will show no feral pole (no reason to think this just a pessimistic outlook to prep myself just incase)

Measurements we’re estimating I am 5w 5d and I know this is early but the anxiety of seeing no pole next Friday is on my mind 24/7. NM is keeping me sane as I don’t feel alone in how I’m feeling so please keep your experiences coming!

EPAC were amazing and she even told me which ovary I ovulated from! So clever.

Getting those two lines (despite all my pre-conception problems) is unbelievably the easy part, finding out so early is the hard part as a million questions go through your head with very little to see on a scan to put your mind at ease. Learning the art of patience is a skill in itself!

Love to you all and a merry Christmas!

Ps. Attaching a photo of my (estimated) 5w 5d scan incase it helps anyone else! Next scan is next Friday (30th) and I’ll keep you posted if you want me to.

@allgoodthings84 I turned 38 in September 😊 I haven’t had any symptoms yet except for cramping like af is coming and the start of sore boobs. So that’s a good sign! But I did get a really strong positive 5 days before I was due on… šŸ˜µā€šŸ’« Like you though, I’d rather it was twins than no baby at all šŸ¤žšŸ»How old is your first?

I got horrifically sore boobs last time, and the constant feeling AF is on the way, which some times worries me.but then i think its just him or her "settling in"

I am sorry to hear this but also optimistic for that test. Its such an emotional rollercoaster isnt it, i have everything crossed and sending lots of baby dust x

Congratulations. With my ds i didnt have any sickness at all, I think it worried me more as it made me think my hcg was low therefore something would happen.

Boobs were horrifically painful and heartburn was awful. I still cant smell gaviscon as i drank about half a bottle the day i went into labour then as my water broke i projectile vomited pure gaviscon šŸ¤£šŸ™ˆ

Hiya lovely. I have PCOS as well which was the main reason 15 years ago i was told i wouldn't have kids, if I knew now what I knew then.........the clinic didnt help at all its really sad, but then we wouldnt have adoptef my son so I cant be too sad.

I started taking inositol after using a pt who specialises in female weight loss and within 3 months conceived my son.

@Nik84 so sorry for your loss šŸ˜”

@Needtobuildabridge of course! I’m 4+4 so we’re very close 😊

@Needtobuildabridge @LuckyStar511 I'm 4+3 today so we're all really close

DandelionPockets · 24/12/2022 07:42

Morning all! Hope everyone's feeling ok. My boobs are really hurting this morning on 4+5.

@Soopyjoopy I'm at my mum's too for Christmas and not telling any of them just yet. Although luckily I think everything is fine to eat here which does make it easier! And I dont drink anyone which also helps with that one. The only person who knows atm is DP. I just want to get home so we can openly chat about it all day long.

allgoodthings84 · 24/12/2022 08:14

Morning ladies. How is everyone feeling?

I started my antibiotics last night and my throat still hurts but nowhere near as much as it did Thursday and yesterday morning. I’ve got so much to do today so need to power through. I feel nauseous too but not sure if it’s pregnancy or the antibiotics šŸ˜‚.

I’m 5+2 today but really I’m 5 weeks today as I ovulated 3 weeks ago today as ovulated a few days late because of the miscarriage the cycle before. I didn’t have any symptoms with my daughter until 6.5 weeks then it was horrible nausea until nearly 20 weeks. Was only sick once at the beginning but that constant feeling only went away (short term) with crisps or chips so not healthy at all. I’m hoping the same doesn’t happen again but I’ll take it all if it means baby will keep going

Soopyjoopy · 24/12/2022 10:36

Morning all, glad to hear you're a bit better @allgoodthings84

We're telling my parents today, hopefully its not tempting fate. I was worried i had pains last night then worried this morning I dont šŸ™ˆ
Yesterday was busy tho, i worked the night shift (nurse) then was up all day, did a santa visit, xmas haircuts for boys, got them and all luggage and presents to my parents so probably just over did it.
How does everyone feel about early scans? We had a few last time but wont have as many this, maybe one around 8-9 weeks?

allgoodthings84 · 24/12/2022 10:57

@Soopyjoopy I’m the same. I have a bit of cramping and start panicking but if I feel nothing I wonder why too.

I really want an early scan but I know I’ll only feel better for a few days then I’ll worry again šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø. If I get major cramping or bleeding though I will get one definitely

Londongirl87 · 24/12/2022 11:11

Hi everyone!

Next episode in the emotional rollercoaster: the nurse called me today and told me that the lab re-ran my blood test from yesterday and the results were not 9.8 but 318 which means they almost tripled since the previous test 48h before!

She was so sorry and said it had never happened before and she doesn’t know what happened.

So I am still pregnant and I cried on the phone when she told me. I felt so relieved even though I know it is still early!

allgoodthings84 · 24/12/2022 11:28

@Londongirl87 omg how could they have got that so wrong?! Was it private? You must be so relieved but I can imagine the confusion and rollercoaster they’ve put you through. I’m so glad to hear that the results are positive 😊. I was thinking there’s no way your hcg could be so low with a test that dark as even a frer only shows a really faint line with levels of 6 so a cheapie with a dark line had to be much higher

Soopyjoopy · 24/12/2022 11:50

@allgoodthings84 I had a really early one around 7 weeks last time within a cple days I was anxious again. I had a private gender one at 16 weeks as thats when we announced so I wanted to know. I was thinking around 8-9 weeks would keep me satisfied until my dating scan.
booking in appointments are around 8ish weeks arent they?

allgoodthings84 · 24/12/2022 11:56

@Soopyjoopy yep around 8 weeks but can be longer depending on booking availability. The one for my first loss in October was at 9 weeks. I didn’t make one for my second as knew that my line at 14dpo wasn’t dark enough as looked same as previous so I didn’t ring up as guessed what was going to happen and I haven’t rang up yet this time as thought I would wait until Thursday so I’m 6 weeks.

Soopyjoopy · 24/12/2022 12:02

@allgoodthings84 yes I'd just made one before altho had the feeling something wasnt right and even said to them on phone shall I just ring to cancel if I need, thought about ringing in the NY when they open this time, they were pretty quick last time.
