Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

@Tasxx I know it’s hard to not worry but I think it’s really positive that you’ve seen a heart beat! And like @Cat1424 said you may have ovulated later and measurements of a mm can make the difference of days at this stage.

To those who have had an early private scan already, would you book another one? Or are waiting for your 12 week scan?

I had a private scan at 8 weeks and I’ve just booked another for Sunday when I should be 10 weeks! I haven’t had my booking in appointment yet so I’ve no idea when my 12 week scan will be. I know it’s a lot of money but a MMC in my last pregnancy has made me so much more anxious this time round.

Cat1424 · 27/01/2023 08:42

@May94x I had a private scan at the beginning of January and I did have another one booked for last weekend but I cancelled it. The first one only made me feel better for a day or two and has just made me worry that something might happened since so it’s been like a false sense of security. My 12 week scan is next week so I’m holding out for that, which has been incredibly difficult, but I’d rather be somewhere where I can directly be given advice if the worst does happen, as otherwise it’s waiting for GP to do something which is a nightmare at the best of times.

Tasxx · 27/01/2023 09:06

Thank you all for the reassurance. In my opinion i won’t be doing another private scan and will just wait in till my 12 week scan which I have a date for already. :)

allgoodthings84 · 27/01/2023 09:14

I won’t be having another private scan before my 12-14 weeks scan (don’t know when that is yet even though I’m 10 weeks as only had my booking in yesterday).

We might go and have a gender scan though at 17 weeks and tell my daughter about the pregnancy just after that with a big sister jumper and a gender reveal cannon for her to pull. She’s 7 and desperately wants a sibling so will be a massive deal for her. Otherwise we wouldn’t but I want it exciting for her.

Cloudheaven · 27/01/2023 10:37

Morning everyone!

Are add-one still welcome? I know I’m VERY late to the party but didn’t even know due date threads existed!

I’m still only just over 10 weeks (IVF) but didn’t know about these threads until the other day! I had a private scan booked after having a miscarriage a few months ago and so getting a tad nervous this week, and thought I’d wait to post until I’d been for my scan yesterday!

hereistopositiveenergy · 27/01/2023 11:09

I had my rescan at the EPU today and its little heartbeat was flickering away. I had my booking appointment early on because of my health and had a letter sent this week saying my 12 weeks was booked for my late grans birthday. The EPU have only gone and changed my 12 week scan now for end of Feb due to measuring smaller which I'm slightly gutted about as I thought it was a little sentimental moment for us. Tempted to now book a private for the same day although I know it won't be the same

jalu47 · 27/01/2023 11:42

Unfortunately my rescan today showed no progress and a miscarriage was confirmed. I'm devastated but not shocked that it has ended this way.

Wishing you all the best for your journeys. I'll be stepping away now xx

May94x · 27/01/2023 12:17

I don’t think I would’ve booked another private scan if I’d had a date for the 12 week scan but couldn’t bear the thought of potentially waiting another 4 weeks.

@Cloudheaven welcome! ā˜ŗļø

May94x · 27/01/2023 12:17

Oh I’m so sorry @jalu47 x

Soopyjoopy · 27/01/2023 12:30

There is a fb group (private of course) for any new members wanting to join?)

allgoodthings84 · 27/01/2023 12:47

Hi @Cloudheaven. There’s a few of us here who have had previous losses. I had 2 just before this pregnancy and had a private scan at 9 weeks. I want to wait until past the 8 weeks mark as know the chance of miscarriage drops then if a healthy heartbeat seen on scan

@hereistopositiveenergy I actually preferred the private scan as they are a lot less clinical and they are more friendly than the nhs scans. Also bigger screens etc. The nhs ones are more important obviously but the private ones are lovely

allgoodthings84 · 27/01/2023 12:47

@jalu47 I’m so sorry šŸ˜ž take care of yourself

AnxiousFish · 27/01/2023 15:55

Is anyone else constantly hungry? I'm not craving anything specific, I just want to eat all. the. time. I don't remember it being this bad in my previous pregnancies.

Moni81 · 27/01/2023 16:07

@AnxiousFish I'm same, I have to eat more often. With previous pregnancies I had nausea and was vomiting with stomach acid. With this one I was only slightly sick early on when hungry. I try to avoid carbs though, trying to navigate low carb/keto as I did for many years now. It gets tricky though as I was used to eat 2-3 meals a day, now it's little bit here little bit there lol.

AnxiousFish · 27/01/2023 16:08

@Moni81 I wish I could avoid carbs! šŸ˜‚

Cloudheaven · 27/01/2023 17:05

@jalu47 I’m so sorry. My thoughts are with you x

Cloudheaven · 27/01/2023 17:07

Weirdly I’ve been eating like a horse, way more than I normally do, and with less exercise than normal = not an ideal combo! But then suddenly earlier this week (9.5 ish) my symptoms faded, nausea almost totally gone, and massively less hungry all round. Having had my scan after this change, I know things are ok, but very weird.

Cloudheaven · 27/01/2023 17:08

@Soopyjoopy thanks for the FB heads up šŸ‘

Owlgirl14 · 27/01/2023 19:01

@jalu47 I'm so sorry to hear of your news x

I'm eating little and often, been told 5-6 smaller a meals through the day but by teatime I'm bloated and often get stomach pain/gurgling/gas. It's just started up while hubby is making dinner. I've given him a small side plate to put my meal on and said that's all I can have at tea time going forward!

Ally345 · 27/01/2023 19:12

@jalu47 so sorry, sending a hug.

Ally345 · 27/01/2023 19:15

I’ve also been eating nothing but carbs, even though I’m normally fairly low carb and a healthy eater. Just can’t stomach protein or anything much right now at all. I almost heaved on the tube yesterday at a burger ad. Tbh didn’t quite expect the nausea to be so bad and almost feel like I have a hangover most of the time now and reaching for comfort carbs.

Augustbabyy · 28/01/2023 09:34

@jalu47 so sorry, take care of yourself 🄰

@AnxiousFish I am also hungry all the time! I used to skip lunch if I was busy without even thinking about it, but now if I go longer than 2hrs I can't cope! No specific cravings but I'm tending to reach for a Mars bar most days šŸ™ˆ don't think I'll be fitting into my size 8 jeans for much longer šŸ˜‚

Re private scans - I had one at 6+6 and am now waiting until my 12 week scan which is in 18 days and can't come soon enough..!

cinnamonbiscuit · 28/01/2023 12:21

So I’m 11+1 today and and thought that maybe the sickness was finally going away. Was lying in bed this morning feeling ok when suddenly I could feel vomit violently making its way up to my mouth 😩I had to leap out of bed and run! Sorry for the tmi but I’m honestly past caring at this point!

allgoodthings84 · 28/01/2023 12:54

Yep I am eating mostly carbs too. I’ve been forcing some fruit in though. I’ve gone off all fizzy pop (was a Diet Coke/Pepsi max addict before) and haven’t drank any of it since I was pregnant. At first I thought it was because I had strep throat but nope when I was better it was still the same. I only drink water and an occasional orange juice now apart from once a week treat if a jolly rancher slush from the American shop. They go down a right treat.

Owlgirl14 · 28/01/2023 13:46

Carbs are so good aren't they! I eat plenty of fruit but not getting as much veg as I would like but also having a lot of tummy issues so that's probably best anyway!

Off out to get some bigger size jeans soon. I bought some fitted jeans/leggings that I've just not been able to get into from early on due to bloating getting worse through the day! Bit annoying as I hadn't had them too long either.

Can't wait to tell people so I don't have to hide my big bloated belly anymore šŸ˜‚
