Can’t believe we’re onto a second thread already. Hope this doesn’t put any newbies off, as I don’t think we’re even halfway through possible due dates yet. Anyone welcome to join in.

I wanted to start off by reassuring TheBirdintheCave that I have no nausea either and had none whatsoever all through my last pregnancy. Thinking of you and hoping your current fears turn out to be for nothing. xx

@TheBirdintheCave oh I’m so happy for you! What a relief xx

@girlshelpxx yeh I started taking it when we started ttc, so about 4 months ago. I just have the Asda own brand folic acid and vitamin D, like @TheBirdintheCave said I don’t think the brand matters too much.

@TurkeyTrouble congrats! I’m also due 1 August based off my LMP, although pretty sure I ovulated late so expecting that to potentially change. Sorry to hear about your back problems, hope it doesn’t take too long to heal.

@Muddydogwalks @Sjw30 congratulations and welcome 😊

@sally16 I think it’s because you’re technically in week 5 of pregnancy because you’ve gone past 4 weeks, if that makes sense. But I could be wrong 🙈

PumpkinEverything · 07/12/2022 14:44

@girlshelpxx i think it’s recommended you take folic acid asap, if not before you even know you’re pregnant. The seven seas ones will be fine 😊 im taking pregnacare which I have set up on subscribe and save with Amazon. It’s what I took last time, and I took the new mum one once my daughter was born too.

congrats @Sjw30 so pleased for you after the long journey you’ve had! I would stop testing now. There’s no real need to after you’ve done it once and it really does just add to the stress 😂 I checked on a few different brands and did a few extra but have now stopped.

also a word to everyone on testing, there’s something called the hook effect that I read about before, where after a certain point your tests can start getting lighter?! This happened to me last time and freaked me right out as I done it before an early scan. It’s almost as if I was too pregnant 😂😂

TheBirdintheCave · 07/12/2022 14:46

@TurkeyTrouble Yeesh that sounds really painful :O

Sjw30 · 07/12/2022 14:47

It really is! @TheBirdintheCave
Thank you everyone ☺️

sally16 · 07/12/2022 14:48

@girlshelpxx if you ask pharmacy they'll give you folic acid! Up here in Scotland we get it all free from pharmacy if we ask so worth a try wherever you are 🥰

Miraclesdohappen88 · 07/12/2022 14:52

@TheBirdintheCave I'm delighted for you, that all went well! Onwards and upwards 🤞

Nic2908 · 07/12/2022 15:15

Found you all!!
@TheBirdintheCave i cannot even begin to imagine the relief you felt. Worth every penny that scan wasn’t it I am so so happy for you and your partner.

@WonderfulSummer i take the Seven seas brand, I took it with my first baby and it seemed to do what it said on the tin so I’ve gone back to it this time!

AnnieApple123 · 07/12/2022 15:15

@Dia12 Just wanted to warn you that I chart BBT in my last pregnancy. It dropped quite dramatically at 4+2 which caused me to have a huge panic and go for HCG testing. I continued to chart it out of curiosity and it was really erratic - not at all like the textbooks say. All turned out fine and the baby is now 2.5.

@PumpkinEverything Ah yes, I was going to mention the hook effect too. I tried it out at 10 weeks last time and got a fainter line. Am really glad I knew about it in advance or would have assumed the worst. www.healthline.com/health/pregnancy/hook-effect

I can feel acid burning all up my throat today. It’s horrible. I’m also exhausted and have been allowing my boy far too much screen time.

I’ve cancelled the early scan I had booked for Monday at 7 weeks as I fear I’d just find it more anxiety-provoking than reassuring. I may reschedule for a bit later or may just wait until 12 weeks.

@TheBirdintheCave came on with everything crossed looking for a positive update from you and I’m so relieved!!!! Can’t imagine how relieved you must be x

Hi ladies, so I did take a step back but also have been following occasionally, but would just like to leave this comment so I can stay up to date with you all on the new thread (it'll come up in my notifications if I comment otherwise I'm searching it each time)

So happy to hear that it went well @TheBirdintheCave 💙
Saw your post yesterday saying that you had no sickness (when a few other people were commenting they did) and how you felt that meant it was definitely doomed. That's partially why I took a step back from the thread because every pregnancy is so different and I felt like I was somehow doing it wrong because everyone else had symptoms and I didn't 😅

I've been reassured seeing more people say they haven't had any and googling, but think I'll still be a bit anxious till my scan on the 17th. All this to say, although I know it's significantly easier said than done, but please try not to compare yourself/your pregnancy cause as you've seen by the wonderful news today, its so different for everyone.

So pleased for you both!

Will pop back after my scan but no doubt not going to be able to stop myself lurking until then 😂

FlamingoBabe · 07/12/2022 16:41

@TheBirdintheCave oh I’m so pleased for you ❤️

FlamingoBabe · 07/12/2022 16:43

I’ve felt so good today! After feeling so rough over the last few days, it’s nice to have a bit of normality. I think I need to start telling a few more people (best friend etc) as it still feels very surreal! I finally rang the midwife to refer yesterday but had to leave a message and not heard back yet.

Jadeelx · 07/12/2022 17:12

I feel so sick today!! Welcome
to any new BFPs 🥰🥰🥰
I feel like I’m on a boat with sea sickness hur can’t get off. Also bunged up with a cold 🥺

TheBirdintheCave · 07/12/2022 17:12

Good to hear from you @BoodifulGoose :) Glad you're doing ok!

Thanks @Chocolotandtea and @FlamingoBabe and everyone else who wished me well :)

marleyandme · 07/12/2022 17:41

When did everyone else hear back about their booking appointment?
I'm 5 weeks today and called last week to self refer. Was told I'd hear back between 8-10 weeks so I've got ages to go yet but I want something in the calendar!

ellie0605 · 07/12/2022 17:44

@marleyandme gold standard is that bookings are done between 8-10 weeks but in a lot of trusts they're more like 10-12 weeks because of poor staffing and high volumes of ladies... it must be done by 12+6 or the trust doesn't get paid for any care they provide to you. The waiting is so frustrating isn't it! It'd be helpful if they just contacted you and let you know a date... even if it's at 12 weeks!

marleyandme · 07/12/2022 17:50

@ellie0605 ah that's so helpful thank you! Yes I'm not expecting it to happen before 10 weeks realistically but it would be good to know when it is! Trying to weigh up whether I book an early scan privately as I guess the NHS scan isn't until after the booking scan regardless of if that's as late as 12 weeks?

Mulner88 · 07/12/2022 17:52

@marleyandme mine was surprisingly quick. I filled out the form and got a phone call a half hour later with an appointment 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess it depends on area how they work it. I'll be 7, nearly 8 weeks when I have my appointment. Maybe tell them you are going on holidays or something for 2 weeks and see if they give you a date. I told them I wouldn't be available over the Christmas and NY and maybe that's why I received a date so quick...

ellie0605 · 07/12/2022 17:53

@marleyandme yes the scan is usually after the booking appointment. It's normal for the first nhs scan to be anywhere between 10-14 weeks. Could you book a private scan and then cancel if your nhs one is sooner than you expect?

Amme18 · 07/12/2022 17:54

@marleyandme I got told that too but then do it through “my pregnancy notes” and it updated last week with my app for 9+6.

Does anybody else think that’s too late though? I thought we had a blood test that had to be before 10 weeks and I think I ovulated before what it predicted by a couple of days and so maybe a couple of days ahead.

Lalalul · 07/12/2022 17:55

i kept checking the old thread! So pleased to hear your news @TheBirdintheCave !

marleyandme · 07/12/2022 17:57

@Mulner88 thats pretty good! I wish mine could have been an online form, I had to ring my gp who told me they'd filled in a referral but said to ring back if I don't hear from the midwives by 8-10 weeks. How far along were you when you did the form?

@ellie0605 yeah I could book a private appointment then cancel but they take partial payment upfront which I wouldn't want to lose out on. I'll be 8 weeks in the week between christmas and New year so will get a bit nearer then and if I haven't heard anything by then I think I'll book a private scan 😊 I just want some reassurance from anyone before February as that feels like so long to wait!

Lalalul · 07/12/2022 18:00

@marleyandme ahhh I’m so restless trying to get this first appointment booked. I referred on Sunday. They called me Monday and yesterday on a hidden number, but I missed it. No call today and no info on how to contact them directly :( I just want that first appointment booked!

Mulner88 · 07/12/2022 18:09

@marleyandme I was just 5 weeks or maybe a day or so before 5 weeks. I filled out the form nearly 2 weeks ago! I had booked a private scan with WTTW on Monday and paid a deposit but cancelled it but they were kind enough to hold on to my deposit and said it can go towards another scan that I might want down the line...
@Lalalul so annoying that they didn't leave you a voice message or text message!!
