AnnieApple123 · 19/11/2022 11:24

It still feels very early but I’m taking a leap of faith and starting a thread here.

Just found out yesterday that I’m due at the very start of August.

Anybody else yet?

I had a work do last Friday - had only found out on the Tuesday with BFP but IMNEDIATELY started laying the groundwork.. headaches, feeling unwell etc in the office drinking water only etc. By the time Friday came I could easily swerve drinks as wasn’t feeling right and waiting to see doc about it and was home by 9pm with a cuppa! That would be my advice… start early with an illness feeling run down and avoid avoid! 🤣

buttercupbee · 05/12/2022 21:33

@PumpkinEverything it is really cosy with all the lights 🥰 I’m doing well tonight though, I’m still awake and it’s half 9!

@LMM91x love that tactic! 😂

LMM91x · 05/12/2022 21:35

@buttercupbee I have quite a social job and have more client stuff tomorrow but this excuse is already serving me well as I can continue it until I decide to confirm I have seen the doctor 🤣 might even through in a ‘sent for more tests’ if needed next week🤣🤣

sally16 · 05/12/2022 22:16

@PumpkinEverything I'm very much looking forward to my meal 😂 I've told one person from work so I'm going to try and pass off my wine for the meal to her... which will be hard because everyone knows how much I love wine 😂

Mine is on Friday @sally16 and I don’t know what to do 🙈 I think there’s only one other woman going and the rest are men, but she’ll so know as she’s already commented on me coming back to work pregnant and saying that I should 😂😂 like I almost want to not go to the dinner, but also I really like the restaurant and want a free dinner 🙈

😂
I have my christmas party this Thursday with the whole organisation - there will be hundreds of us. Also have christmas lunch with my entire department (around 50) next week. I don't think I will be going to either 😂. I have no symptoms but don't want to be in a stressful / busy environment, especially as i'm not the outgoing type. It'll take a lot energy out of me.

Amme18 · 06/12/2022 06:59

My work do is the 17th, at the bottom of my road so no excuse for driving 🤣 But I’m still not back at work since my mum passed away and so I don’t think anyone will press further if I say I’m not drinking. Honestly before I was pregnant I wasn’t anyway as I don’t want to risk being an emotional wreck. But that’s not helpful to anybody else needing excuses 😅 I’d go with antibiotics. There’s one you absolutely cannot drink on as it makes you violently sick. Metronidazole - my boyfriend had it after his wisdom tooth was removed and the hole got infected. I made bolognese and put wine in it…he was violently sick 😅

I stepped away from this thread for a bit after I had a bleed last Monday. It's been a really stressful week with the whole house being struck down by a bad chest infection.

I have a scan tomorrow at the hospital because of the bleed and I'm so nervous about it!

Hope all goes well today @ellie0605 . I have a friend who had a quite bad bleed at 7 weeks and all turned out fine. Her daughter is 4 now. They thought it was due to pressure on a blood vessel. I’m really grateful she shared that with me as, if I experienced something like that, I’d probably assume it was curtains. Yet she’s a good example of how it needn’t be.

@Amme18 sorry to hear about your mum :(

I work in the hospital, they would 100% give me a plan to avoid being sick with antibiotics 🤣 I'm just gonna try the 'still feeling rough from covid' and try to avoid the 'awww you need a shot' 😂😂😂 but I'll probably end up just telling them 🤣

Amme18 · 06/12/2022 07:42

@sally16 I’m a community OT - we have our ACPs on the works do who would 100% be the same 🤣 If anybody asks me outright ill struggle to lie, I have a terrible poker face!

sally16 · 06/12/2022 07:44

@Amme18 ohhhh I love the OTs on the ward! Bet the community is rough though compared to the wards!
Hahahah exactly! You have the same as me, always gonna be someone watching wondering haha!

Mulner88 · 06/12/2022 07:51

@Amme18 I'm also a community OT 😄

Amme18 · 06/12/2022 08:08

@Mulner88 Ah Green Trouser buddy! Hopefully not in the same area or the boss will be in for a shock 🤣
@sally16 I love community work! Hospitals are not for me, although yes probably easier in some ways so never say never 🤣

buttercupbee · 06/12/2022 09:38

@PumpkinEverything @sally16 @tallgirl232 I’m in the same dilemma, we have our work Christmas party next week. I live near two other ladies from work so I offered to drive and one of them said “you can’t do that, you won’t be able to drink then! I’ll get my partner to drop us off” 🤦🏼‍♀️

PumpkinEverything · 06/12/2022 09:40

Why are people so kind @buttercupbee 😂😂 thankfully I think I only have one person who lives in my direction, and she can’t go, so I don’t think I can get any offers!

sally16 · 06/12/2022 09:57

Dr said I'm not allowed my melatonin and they are going to call me on Thursday to discuss my citalopram. But she's also altered the maternity's mental health team who will take over.
Which is fine.. but how am I gonna sleep 🫠😭

somuchtolearnabout · 06/12/2022 10:12

Morning ladies. Who was it who told me about the early gender blood test? Do you know anyone who's done it as I think we are going to!

TheBirdintheCave · 06/12/2022 10:13

I'm not going to my work Christmas thing now. It's sad but the train strikes changed the day and time from being lunch time to being early evening and I can't be collected any later than 7pm from the station as there's no one else to watch our son so my husband has to bring him along in the car.

I'm not too bothered as there's big lunch in spring for the whole company which I didn't get to go to last year as I was having the miscarriage at the time.

How is everyone today? I'm 6+1 now and still no bad nausea. I've almost completely written this pregnancy off. The last thing I'm going to do is try taking the pregnancy vitamins (still using up the conception vitamins atm as I had a box left) and see if they make me sick as that's the only other difference between this pregnancy and the one that resulted in my son.

TheBirdintheCave · 06/12/2022 10:14

@somuchtolearnabout I considered it the first time around but wouldn't do it now because, honestly, I'd be devastated if it's another boy.

AnnieApple123 · 06/12/2022 10:15

@sally16 Take a look at this: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22038497/ Sounds promising.

@somuchtolearnabout That was me. I don’t know if anyone personally who’s done it but I’ve read threads on here where people have. Maybe start a new thread asking for experiences?

Those of you with toddlers, are you still lifting them? I’m paranoid and have managed to avoid it so far. It’s getting harder though.

That makes me sad. I've got two boys and they're incredible and totally different but already the best of friends. I'd love another boy!

ChloeN · 06/12/2022 10:19

@somuchtolearnabout my cousin did it and it was correct for her! She did have to do it twice because the first one was inconclusive xx

TheBirdintheCave · 06/12/2022 10:19

@somuchtolearnabout I love my son so much and think he's an incredible, smart and beautiful little boy but I've always wanted a daughter as well and we can only afford to have two children so this is my last chance :/ I'm also massively unlucky so I keep seeing everyone I know having daughters and thinking it will never happen to me.

somuchtolearnabout · 06/12/2022 10:20

@AnnieApple123 I'm still lifting my toddlers like normal, I never even considered doing anything differently to be honest!

I'm going to bow out of this thread I think girls. It's feeding my anxiety and I don't think it's healthy for me. Wishing you all the most healthy and happy pregnancies and I'm sure I'll dip in and out at some point in the future to see how you're all getting on. Best of luck to everyone xxx

TheBirdintheCave · 06/12/2022 10:22

@AnnieApple123 Yeah I still lift him up but I try not to strain myself whilst doing it. For example, I'll wait til he's standing in his cot and then pick him up rather than bending and picking him up from lying down.

PumpkinEverything · 06/12/2022 10:49

@AnnieApple123 im still lifting my daughter and carrying on as normal. I didn’t think I needed to worry about that so early on 🙈 she’s only (almost) 14 months so she really wouldn’t understand why I’m not lifting her, and she really wants me to show her the Christmas tree decorations a lot these days 😂

I think my anxiety is starting to creep in today 😬 I feel like I’ve got a bit of a dodgy stomach, and can’t remember if I had this last time or not. Google obviously tells me the worst and now I’m panicking thinking was it my first pregnancy I had this with which resulted in MMC 😔
