Hi everyone,

I'm new to posting on mumsnet, but have spent plenty of time reading through others' conversations for reassurance when anxious, and this seems like such a friendly place!

I've just found out I'm pregnant again after the miscarriage of my first at 11 weeks in August. I would love to connect with other people in a similar situation.

I'm feeling relatively ok, i.e. not totally panicked all the time, about this one, but I know it's going to be hard. I really find it hard to believe sometimes that this could work out.

Please send a comment if you're in a similar situation and would like to share/receive some support!

@Atii, so sorry for your loss 💔 Wishing you lots of luck TTC your rainbow 🌈

Just a thought, but there’s also a miscarriage support group on MN where the ladies are still TTC. A couple of ladies on here joined from that group and the support and advice from those ladies is incredible. 💜💐

B1993 · 02/12/2022 09:03

@Nervousbuthopeful, how are you feeling today? I hope the spotting has stopped and EPU will see you today for some reassurance. 💜

So sorry to everyone receiving bad news this week. It really is rubbish. Thoughts are with you.

I had my first mid wife appointment yesterday. I asked her about lack of sickness/nausea and she said “many women don’t have anything, so it is normal and not usually anything to be concerned about. But given you’ve had a miscarriage I don’t want to say ‘it’s nothing to worry about’, because it could be a sign of something. But it might not be. So try not to worry”.
So of course now I am twice as worried! 12-week scan isn’t until 22 December which just feels like forever away. I’m also extra paranoid as the first baby would have been due around 16 Dec which feels like a bad omen. Therefore, I think I will look into having a private scan next week. At least I will know whether everything is progression as it should in the meantime.

theblueflowers · 02/12/2022 11:51

@Lottylou2022 I know what the midwife is saying is true, but that just sounds really unhelpful! If it helps I've been exactly the same till this week (10 weeks) where the nausea has ramped up. Maybe you're just a late bloomer?

@tulipsunday so sorry to hear your news. Hope you get a resolution before two weeks, sometimes the waiting around is the worst part x

rach971 · 02/12/2022 14:38

@Lottylou2022 I worry about lack of symptoms sometimes but then I remember when I was pregnant with my daughter I had barely anything either apart from some mild nausea and food aversions and all was fine ☺️

B1993 · 02/12/2022 14:46

@Lottylou2022, I think the not knowing really does make things harder. If having a scan will help ease your anxiety, I think it's worth it!

I personally didn't have any symptoms other than fatigue in my first pregnancy and that was successful.

squirrelnutkins1 · 02/12/2022 15:44

My scan went well, saw a heartbeat. All looks healthy.
Of course I'm grateful but I don't think it has eased my anxiety at all.

ChloeN · 02/12/2022 17:11

@squirrelnutkins1 amazing news 🥰💕

BusyBushBaby · 02/12/2022 17:35

Hi all, I'm new here.

I'm pregnant after IVF, 4+6, due August 5th. Trying to keep my expectations moderate after 4 previous losses, the last being a MMC in August of this year at 11 weeks. I also have a living son who is 2 1/2. EPAU won't see me because I've had a live birth, but I will be having some extra scans privately.

I'm feeling really nauseous, no vomiting yet, but this is of little comfort as I had severe nausea and vomiting in my last pregnancy which ended in MMC.

Thanks for this, I remember it being helpful last time but had forgotten about it x

@BusyBushBaby, welcome and congratulations on your pregnancy! 🤗 🎉

It's a shame EPAU won't scan you - I was under the impression that they did offer reassurance scans after losses. At least you've got the options for private scans! Those early days/weeks seem to drag waiting for the routine 12w one. 😓

B1993 · 04/12/2022 07:40

How is everyone else doing? I hope those of you who have had spotting have been able to get scans and things are looking as they should be!!

I'm 14+1 weeks now and feeling much less fatigued over the last couple of days! 🙌🏻Yesterday I managed to get the tree up - my 3 year old loved helping 🥰 - and do a few other jobs I've been putting off for ages since I've been feeling so exhausted!

I still get occasional bouts of mild nausea but it tends to pass quickly. On the whole, the second trimester seems to be a little easier. 😅

ChloeN · 04/12/2022 10:43

@B1993 ah that’s amazing you’re feeling better! I think we’ve decided to have an early scan after Christmas now, I’ve found a place that does all kinds of medical scans so it’s the complete opposite of wttw, which I think will make me feel more comfortable!

Butterflies12 · 04/12/2022 11:57

Morning everyone, I've been reading from the start but was too nervous to join before. Due on 1st August. I'm 5+5 by conception or 6+1 by LMP. I had a MMC in April so I'm really worried about this pregnancy. I have been spotting since the day I found out so had an early scan last Tues where I saw the gestational sac and the egg sac but no fetal node yet or heartbeat. They put me on progesterone cyclogest pessaries and I've been taking 75mg of aspirin too. This morning the spotting is more red first thing but seems to have stopped again now. I have another scan booked for 12th so a week wait and I got 3+ on a clear blue this morning. My mum is currently in ICU so I am spending 7 hours a day at the hospital and I'm just so stressed and worried. Not enjoying this at all 😔

B1993 · 04/12/2022 12:33

@ChloeN, my only option would be WTTW as the place I used for DS closed down and they're now the closest, which still isn't that close. 😓 It's great you have other options close by! 😊How far along will you be when you have your private scan?

@Butterflies12, congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome!

It sounds like you are still early so what you saw on the scan seems right for your dates. Hopefully your upcoming scan will show more! 🤞🏻💓

Sorry to hear about your mum - it must be very stressful. 😖 I hope you have a good support network from those around you. Sending big hugs 💜

rach971 · 04/12/2022 13:08

@Butterflies12 Congratulations ☺️

What colour is your spotting? I had a MMC in August and I'm currently 6+3 and I've been having brown spotting for over a week now. I had it last time too so I'm super worried 😫 EPU don't seem concerned but they're scanning me on Thursday. Wish I'd get offered progesterone in case it's anything to do with that 😫 But it's something I'm going to mention to them on Thursday when I go. Currently in work having palpitations that just won't go away 😫

ChloeN · 04/12/2022 13:13

@B1993 it was recommended by a sonographer at epu so I assume that means they’re good lol🙈 think it’ll be 9ish weeks by then so hopefully will give me the reassurance I need!

@rach971 I think the new guidance is that they give your progesterone for bleeding once they’ve scanned and saw a heartbeat isn’t it?? So defo push for it!

B1993 · 04/12/2022 13:26

@rach971, I feel like I've had every colour of spotting during this current pregnancy (from bright red to brown) and have been scanned twice by EPAU. When I initally asked about progesterone they said I'd possibly start it if spotting continued. I didn't get it in the end, even though I did spot more, but it seems that isn't my problem anyway as, so far, this pregnancy is healthy. 🥰 Definitely ask for it if you feel it will help, but I was told by an EPAU midwife there's not enough evidence to suggest it does help and reviews are quite mixed. I wonder if it's just my area but it sounded like it's not something they push here.

Just a thought though, there's research that shows Vitamin C increases progesterone levels by up to 70% so might be worth taking extra of that, if you don't already.

B1993 · 04/12/2022 13:29

@rach971, I had a scan around 9 weeks (dated as 8 at the time) and saw little arms and lefts forming - so cute! 😍 While my 6 week scan was super reassuring, I think, if you have a choice, it's better to go a bit later so you can see more.

squirrelnutkins1 · 04/12/2022 13:57

My 10 week scan last time was amazing, it's incredible just how much growth happens between 8&10 weeks. I'll see if I can attach pictures. Might help you decide when to book in for.

squirrelnutkins1 · 04/12/2022 14:02

8 and 10 weeks

B1993 · 04/12/2022 14:13

@squirrelnutkins1, aww they're cute! I couldn't believe the difference between 6-9 and 9-12 weeks! Unfortunately we didn't get a 9 week picture as EPAU had just bought an ultrasound machine (great idea as otherwise you had to be scanned in the main department with all the other pregnant ladies). Since it was brand new - we were the very first couple to scanned - it wasn't hooked up to a printer at that point. It's just incredibly at how quickly they grow and the different in just a few weeks is unbelievable! 🥰

ChloeN · 04/12/2022 14:17

@squirrelnutkins1 proper little baby by 10 weeks🥺

@rach971 I think 9 weeks will be good, then only a few weeks until my nhs one which will be nice🤞🏻

TheWeeLittleDonkey · 04/12/2022 15:08

Hi everyone, I really need a big virtual hug. This is my 5th pregnancy, I’ve had a MMC, a MC and 2 CP within the last two years.

I had a 6 week scan at EPU on Wednesday and they couldn’t see anything. They took bloods so they could confirm miscarriage but ended up calling me in the next day for an emergency second scan as my HCG levels were so high.

The lead consultant scanned me this time and found a gestational sac and yoke sac measuring around 5weeks.

I wasn’t fully measuring my ovulation, and I know I probably wasn’t quite 6 weeks when I had either scan as I tend to ovulate a little late, but I still should have measured a bit further along.

The only symptom I have is fatigue which it me hard the evening after the scan we saw the gestational sac, and I’ll be honest I thought it was just because I’d been so stressed. But I feel like a bus has hit me quite a lot now.

I’m just so anxious. I can’t let go of the fact it was measuring behind, and I can’t let go of the fact I don’t have nausea. My breasts keep coming and going too. Today they’ve hardly hurt at all.

I just feel like crying. And I just wanted to talk to someone who would understand so I hope it’s okay to post in here.
