Hi everyone,

I'm new to posting on mumsnet, but have spent plenty of time reading through others' conversations for reassurance when anxious, and this seems like such a friendly place!

I've just found out I'm pregnant again after the miscarriage of my first at 11 weeks in August. I would love to connect with other people in a similar situation.

I'm feeling relatively ok, i.e. not totally panicked all the time, about this one, but I know it's going to be hard. I really find it hard to believe sometimes that this could work out.

Please send a comment if you're in a similar situation and would like to share/receive some support!

Also for those worrying about progesterone, there have been two major studies on it, one showed that it helped people who have had previous miscarriages, one showed it had no effect what so ever.

If it’s something you think would help you, if you fill in this and you’ve had miscarriages before it will give you a link to show a doctor so they will prescribe it for you: www.miscarriagetool.tommys.org

@TheWeeLittleDonkey, sending bigs your way 💜 It's completely understandable that you're feeling so anxious after what sounds like an incredibly tough time. I'm so sorry for all of your losses 💔

I don't know if it'll help but with my son I didn't have any symptoms other than fatigue. Not even sore breasts! He's 3.5 now so a lack of symptoms wasn't a bad sign for me then. Plus, lots of women don't experience symptoms until closer to 7 weeks so there's still time!

This current pregancy came after a loss so when I went for an early scan through EPU (folllowing bright red spotting) and measured a week behind, I was really worried too! I tracked my ovulation so knew I was 6+2 at the scan but measured closer to 5 weeks with an estimation of 5-6 weeks because a strong heartbeat was found. Then I had another scan at 9+2 (after light red spotting) and measured around 8+2, again a week behind. However, I went for my dating scan just over a week ago and went from measuring behind to measuring ahead by 4 days! I'm now 14+1 according to that so baby more than caught up after a worrisome time! 🥰

I really struggled to find postive stories when I measured behind but was assured by the midwives that, when dealing with such precise measurements, there's a lot of room for human error and it's not an exact science.

I'll keep my fingers tightly crossed that everything works out well for you 🤞🏻🍀

Butterflies12 · 04/12/2022 16:07

@rach971 it started pink, went brown and then since I've been on progesterone it's been kind of a peach colour pinky/red. Have you had a scan?

@B1993 thank you, I've been reading your experience this pregnancy and it is reassuring because I am having lots of spotting.

I just can't seem to relax and waiting for a scan is when time goes slowest in the world
xxx

TheWeeLittleDonkey · 04/12/2022 16:09

@B1993 thanks so much for replying ❤️ they didn’t say I should be worried, the opposite in fact, but I’m not surprised they were trying to calm me a down after I was rushed back with suspected ectopic 😂

There are also loads of positive stories online from people who measured behind at the beginning, but with my history it just feels like I’m going to be one of the negative stories unfortunately.

I’m just holding onto the fact this is the longest I’ve ever been pregnant without spotting, but every time I think that, let alone say it, I just feel I’m jinxing it.

I’m currently in a TWW for my next scan to determine viability as it was too small detect a heartbeat. I think if my anxiety doesn’t calm down I will probably phone EPU and get another scan at the end of next week.

Thanks for trying to calm me down re-symptoms. It’s always a bit of a relief to hear other people were/are symptomless. I’ve never wanted to feel ill this badly in my whole life 😂

I’m so glad to hear your pregnancy is going so well at the moment 😊 it much be such a relief to be in the second trimester.

Nervousbuthopeful · 05/12/2022 18:11

Hi everyone! Congrats on your scan, @squirrelnutkins1 , and so sorry to hear about the previous losses of everyone who has joined since I last wrote--wishing you all smooth and happy pregnancies this time around! Everyone who has been having spotting, I really hope you get some reassurance soon! Thanks for checking up on me, @B1993 , and sorry I didn't reply sooner. I'm hoping all is all right; it was just a tiny bit of brown spotting and then stopped, so I think it might actually have been caused by the ultrasound. Fingers crossed.

I'm probably going to step back from reading posts for a while, just because I feel I'm spending too much time online at the moment, but I'll be thinking of all of you, and will check in again soon! Sending you all lots of virtual hugs--really grateful we can all be here to support each other.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

I had my booking appointment today, it was quite triggering but glad it's done. I felt so exhausted after. I was in there over an hour. They also gave me the date for my 12 week scan and 16 week appointment.

sian124 · 08/12/2022 21:23

Hi @squirrelnutkins1 - 100% know what you mean about triggers, but that's a really good step getting the appointment done :) when is your 12 week scan? I have my first midwife appointment on the 23rd.
We had our early scan on Tuesday and even though the sonographer said the baby was still too tiny to accurately give any dates, we saw a heartbeat so that was amazing. We never got to that point with any of the others. Have another scan in two weeks for a bit more reassurance which I thought was so thoughtful of them to offer

squirrelnutkins1 · 08/12/2022 22:08

@sian124 ah that's great news :) isn't it amazing to just see that there really is a tiny baby in there!

On 30th December!

rach971 · 09/12/2022 17:16

Is anyone here on progesterone?

Littlegoth · 09/12/2022 19:21

@rach971 I am

rach971 · 09/12/2022 19:34

@Littlegoth Are you taking it vaginally? I've literally just been given it today. Heard so many people have had bad thrush from it so had to switch to rectally 😫

Idk why I'm so scared hahaha I'm worried I'll shove it in too far or not enough... 🙈😂

rach971 · 09/12/2022 19:39

@Littlegoth Also, maybe a stupid question but do you put the pointy end in first or the flat end?

When I had the painkiller pessary I had to put the flat end in first 😂 Can't see any info on the instruction sheet either

Littlegoth · 09/12/2022 20:38

@rach971 the pointy end goes in first - the nurse wouldn’t let me go without explaining. Also to lie down for 20 minutes afterwards, which I didn’t see on the fact sheet so wouldn’t have known if she’d not said. I was doing it vaginally but switched to rectal. I didn’t like the leakage and it was itchy!

sian124 · 09/12/2022 20:40

@rach971 I am too

sian124 · 09/12/2022 20:42

@squirrelnutkins1 Ooh that's quite soon when you think about it! :) We have another scan on the 20th (just because the EPU nurses could see how worried we were/are I think!)

somethingluscious · 09/12/2022 21:10

Can I join? I had a positive test this week at 11dpo. I had a MMC at the end of September at 9-10 weeks that had stopped developing at 6-7 weeks. I've been concerned about low progesterone after getting this tested at 18dpo and 32dpo with the MMC, but trying to remember this is a new pregnancy. My hcg was up at 15000, so I thought things were going to be ok as I'd had a scan a 6w2d that showed a heartbeat.

I'm 44 so my risks are higher, but I did day 2 blood tests and my AMH and FSH were really good for my age, plus have been taking supplements, lost a stone and eating a good low Gi diet. I have a scan booked with the early pregnancy unit at the end of December when I'll be 6w3d. They booked it to be 8 weeks based on my LMP, but I have longer cycles so ovulated later at CD25. I also had 3 earlier losses at 5-6 weeks before my 11 year old daughter, but this is my 7th pregnancy and I have two daughters (14 and 11 years old). I'm planning to send progesterone and hcg blood tests weekly with medichecks. The early pregnancy unit mentioned I could possibly get progesterone supplements, but I was going to check my levels first. The guidance I've found all says you have to be bleeding already to get them and I never seem to bleed or spot until my hcg has crashed. I don't know if I should be pushing harder for support for my progesterone levels. I started using Mira this cycle and it shows my PgD is high enough in the luteal phase. even though my bbt temps seemed quite low.

sian124 · 10/12/2022 10:54

@somethingluscious if you can afford to see a private endocrinologist to get some progesterone and put your mind at ease, do it (that's what I did after my GP seemed to have no idea about who could prescribe progesterone!). Mine also picked up some thyroid problems which I would have been unaware of otherwise so it was well worth it for me on that front too.

BusyBushBaby · 10/12/2022 12:56

@rach971 I am too, cyclogest and utrogestan.

Lottylou2022 · 13/12/2022 12:50

Checking back in as I’m panicking about something. I’ve come down with a cold and terrible dry, tickly cough and sore throat (not covid). I know there isn’t much you can take but have been taking strepsils for a couple of days as my throat was so sore. When I first googled, it said it was fine, but I’ve checked again and getting conflicting information. I’m now 11 weeks pregnant which is when the previous baby stopped growing so now I’m freaking out! I have stopped taking them now and praying I haven’t done any harm

Gee94 · 13/12/2022 13:09

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts…

I had my second miscarriage in November, 3 weeks after my miscarriage operation I was told to take a pregnancy test and it was negative.

I’ve recently been experiencing some pregnancy symptoms including sore boobs. I also had some light bleeding

which wasn’t my cycle (potentially implantation).

I had a blood test last week and just got my results, my HCG level is 17. Which has now confused the doctor and I. This could potentially be a new pregnancy or it could still be from my miscarriage.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? I’m hoping it’s a new pregnancy 🤞

squirrelnutkins1 · 14/12/2022 13:15

@Gee94 no experience but didn't want to not reply. When would you be able to test? X

Gee94 · 14/12/2022 13:38

Thank you for replying! I did test around 1.5/2 weeks after my op and it was negative as directed by the doctor. But, since I’ve had the symptoms x

Lottylou2022 · 14/12/2022 17:39

@Gee94 I was told you can ovulate as early as two weeks after a miscarriage so it’s possible. I had to have two ERPCs to treat my missed miscarriage but after the second one my cycle went straight back to normal immediately. When could you do a pregnancy test?

Gee94 · 14/12/2022 18:04

@Lottylou2022 I did a test as instructed by the doctor after the op and I was showing back to negative after about 1.5/2 weeks. I had another blood test today to see if the level has risen since my last one so fingers crossed!

Lottylou2022 · 14/12/2022 19:15

@Gee94 is it too early to take a pregnancy test? That is your best way of knowing for sure!
