Hi everyone,

I'm new to posting on mumsnet, but have spent plenty of time reading through others' conversations for reassurance when anxious, and this seems like such a friendly place!

I've just found out I'm pregnant again after the miscarriage of my first at 11 weeks in August. I would love to connect with other people in a similar situation.

I'm feeling relatively ok, i.e. not totally panicked all the time, about this one, but I know it's going to be hard. I really find it hard to believe sometimes that this could work out.

Please send a comment if you're in a similar situation and would like to share/receive some support!

@Brokenpancreas94 oh god not what you need hope she is ok. I have those weird pains sometimes think mine is trapped wind 🤣

SMG1992 · 28/05/2023 08:26

I’m feeling really nervous again, my 12 week scan is in 9 days but I’m starting to feel like something might be wrong again
I’ve not had any blood or pains but I didn’t last time with my MMC so I know it’s just my mind playing tricks on me
I feel a little less nauseous than I have been but I’m 11+2 so I’m hoping this could be normal?
I really hope i can stop being so worried after 1st trimester

suz2285 · 28/05/2023 08:36

@Brokenpancreas94 hope your daughter is ok! Yes I'm getting those pains if I move too quickly it's like a sharp pulled muscle pain but doesn't last long...

@tulipsunday I'm def also having wind pains, so glamorous 😂

@SMG1992 totally understandable, I'm feeling the same about my 8 week one and it's still a few weeks away! I def think at 11 + your nausea should begin to settle down as the placenta takes over and the hormones settle a bit, it's just a rubbish time because nothing can really help the worry...

ChloeN · 28/05/2023 09:28

@SMG1992 after week 10 my sickness was came and went rather than being more constant! I panicked the same as you but I do think it’s normal xx

WitcheryDivine · 28/05/2023 09:32

Practically all my symptoms disappeared earlier in the week and combined with other worrying signs I was seen at the EPU. As I said they then saw a normal foetus so do try not to worry about the symptoms. I know how hard it is, it’s only a few days since my scan and I’m already worrying about what’s gone on in there since.

SMG1992 · 28/05/2023 11:29

Thanks ladies
There’s no way of knowing that everything is ok - just got to have faith
I had a bad day worrying yesterday so I’m going to try to be more positive today

tulipsunday · 28/05/2023 12:36

@SMG1992 it is hard isn't it. Reassuring to hear about symptoms coming and going for people and all being well. Good you haven't got long till 12wk scan xx

Brokenpancreas94 · 28/05/2023 16:23

@suz2285 @tulipsunday thank you, she's okay...not sure I am 😂🙈

They are very painful the pains aren't they!

@SMG1992 I know what you mean, if a symptom suddenly disappears i'm always thinking the worst! Xxx

squirrelnutkins1 · 28/05/2023 21:09

I get pain along my c section scar too. Apparently it's just stretching pains. I've been advised paracetamol and to massage the area.

Brokenpancreas94 · 28/05/2023 21:31

@squirrelnutkins1 well I'm glad it's normal then, and hopefully a sign that things are going in the right direction. Paracetamol never does much for me so don't bother taking it 😩

suz2285 · 29/05/2023 13:24

@SMG1992 how are you feeling today?

SMG1992 · 29/05/2023 15:58

@suz2285 thanks for checking in.
im ok, my symptoms are definitely not as strong as they were in that I’m less sick and fatigued
im feeling a bit better mentally today though so am trying to stay positive
there is no reason I should have another MMC so just trying to change my focus

Brokenpancreas94 · 29/05/2023 16:53

@SMG1992 glad you're feeling a bit better. It's easier said than done though isn't it, like changing your focus! Xx

suz2285 · 29/05/2023 17:11

@SMG1992 the symptoms coming and going is a right pain in the butt for anxiety! It's like you want to feel bad just so you think all is ok, but I don't think it's even that clear, hopefully all will be ok 🤞 for all of us! It's right though there's so much more anxiety when you've had something go wrong in the past! Very hard to shift the focus x

SMG1992 · 29/05/2023 17:15

Yep I think it’s our subconscious trying to shield us from being hurt again
but whether I tell myself I’m not getting excited or not if anything happens I’m still going to feel distraught so I’m trying to enjoy

Brokenpancreas94 · 29/05/2023 17:20

@suz2285 @SMG1992 yeah, I automatically think it's just going to go wrong, yet realistically there's no reason why it will. My HBa1c (6 monthly average blood glucose) was worse in my first pregnancy and my daughter was fine, so realistically I should be fine but I can't shift the feeling.
I hope we will all be fine and this time next year we will all have our bundles of joy xxx

suz2285 · 29/05/2023 17:28

@SMG1992 that's the right attitude for sure. I'm trying to do the same, tbh I've been fairly calm compared to what I thought I'd be like but I've not had any scans yet, I'll be a mess when going for my 8 weeks scan in a few weeks time 🙈

@Brokenpancreas94 is your diabetes behaving?

Brokenpancreas94 · 29/05/2023 17:36

@suz2285 as well as it could be, I'm waiting for a new Insulin pump but haven't heard anything yet, so will have to call them tomorrow. It's hormones that wreaks havoc on my blood sugars, it's a rollercoaster! First trimester you need more insulin, second trimester usually need less and then third more again!
I'm so spotty now too!

suz2285 · 29/05/2023 17:50

@Brokenpancreas94 my sister is waiting for a new pump too, it just got approved not long ago and she's got all this training to do for it 😂 it's so very complicated

Brokenpancreas94 · 29/05/2023 17:56

@suz2285 they approved me over a week ago and then my consultant said to put me at the top of the list and that I should hear within a week but I haven't 😬. Mines just an upgrade from what I've already got so hopefully shouldn't require too much training!

Peachy3118 · 29/05/2023 23:38

hi everyone, has anyone else experienced period pain like cramps? I’m 9+5 after 2 MCs last year and a wee bit anxious to say the least. Midwife told me at early scan 8 weeks that I would start getting pain/cramps and it was totally normal but has my brain listened…nope :( - currently in Greece but have private scan booked for day after we come back for some reassurance!

Sorry wee mumbling rabble!

tulipsunday · 30/05/2023 11:08

Yes @Peachy3118 achey back 24/7 just like period pains and sometimes tummy feels a bit tender. I asked sonographer and she said aches and cramps are common due to uterus stretching and the effect of hormones. 8wks +1 now and has one successful scan so hoping she is right 😬 hope your scan provides some reassurance x

Brokenpancreas94 · 30/05/2023 11:54

@Peachy3118 I'm only 6+4 but yes I get the period like cramps too and keep expecting to see blood. Hope your scan goes well!

Spoke to hospital and they've not even ordered my insulin pump, despite saying they would do it last week 🙄

Hope everyone is doing okay xx

WitcheryDivine · 30/05/2023 12:06

@Peachy3118 I've had cramps too, ranging from several days to the occasional worrying half hour. I guess it makes sense as it's in the same place, just keep telling myself it's normal. Totally understand your anxiety though and i'd be lying if I said my first reaction isn't always to think the worst.

suz2285 · 30/05/2023 13:16

@Peachy3118 same, I had terrible cramps week 5-6, this week slightly less so far but still on and off. Panicking about everything per usual... already now thinking about my 12 week scan even though i haven't even gone for the 8 week one yet, I wish you could constantly check all was ok in there! See through tummies for 9 months! 😂

@Brokenpancreas94 eugh! So irritating! The one good thing about maternity services seems to be that everything has quite a specific timeframe so they have to get you in for appointments etc on time. Unfortunately no other part of medicine seems to be like that (in my limited experience!)
