Hi everyone,

I'm new to posting on mumsnet, but have spent plenty of time reading through others' conversations for reassurance when anxious, and this seems like such a friendly place!

I've just found out I'm pregnant again after the miscarriage of my first at 11 weeks in August. I would love to connect with other people in a similar situation.

I'm feeling relatively ok, i.e. not totally panicked all the time, about this one, but I know it's going to be hard. I really find it hard to believe sometimes that this could work out.

Please send a comment if you're in a similar situation and would like to share/receive some support!

@WitcheryDivine thsts totally how I feel too. I don’t want to freak out people when it might not have even crossed their mind. But since my MMC (same as you at 12 week scan) this pregnancy is completely different for my head
I have my 12 week scan booked 6th June which I’m both terrified and excited for

WitcheryDivine · 19/05/2023 17:52

Thanks so much @Brokenpancreas94 that genuinely means a lot

@SMG1992 so sorry you went through that too, I haven't got a date for mine yet (it'll be mid-late June if we get that far) and I think I'm going to be a mess about it! Wishing for excellent news at yours xx

Brokenpancreas94 · 19/05/2023 18:14

@WitcheryDivine you're welcome! Pregnancy after a loss is so so hard, I never realised how hard! How many weeks are you now? Xx

SMG1992 · 19/05/2023 18:18

Aww thank you! I actually have a scan this Monday 1st which will be after the sage the baby stopped growing the first time so feels like a big step
wishing you a smooth first trimester and hopefully a more peaceful remainder of your pregnancy

suz2285 · 19/05/2023 18:43

@WitcheryDivine I'm also on that thread, feeling the same about mentioning MC as it's just like everyone's so excited thinking nothing will go wrong... it's hard!

@Brokenpancreas94 I was on sertraline before and I actually ordered a new prescription of it just before I got pregnant cos I was super stressed but it's work that's making me stressed and I am just so annoyed my work is making me feel so horrendous, so I'm trying to just calm down and maybe try and do something about it before I start taking it again, but the doc said it was fine for pregnancy so that's good to know

@SMG1992 I just booked a scan today too, it's not for another few weeks but it's after the time of my first loss too, I didn't want to book anything too early and potentially get false hope but no way am I leaving it till the 12 week scan! I had a scan at 8 weeks last time and that was the first sign of something wrong, and I then went to EPU and a few days after that I started the MC... I've booked this one for 8 weeks again... last time baby stopped growing at 7.5 so if we've got a heartbeat at 8 weeks this time I'll be a bit happier! 🤞 good luck for your scan!!

Brokenpancreas94 · 19/05/2023 19:04

@suz2285 sorry to hear that, I ended up quitting my job in my first pregnancy on my consultants advice, it was stressing me out and getting me down, it was hard financially at the time but we managed. I hope things get better for you xx

suz2285 · 19/05/2023 19:10

Thanks @Brokenpancreas94 I just started this job last year but it's so stressful and some of the people are less than helpful, I can't take holidays basically for about a 4 month period where it's extremely busy and I've been in the office long days and no time at home! So yeah, I've actually just applied for an internal position in a different part of the company so 🤞 maybe I can move before baby!

If not then the plan is to get my mat leave, go back for 6 months then move on... I'd like to change to something more suitable but I need the mat leave money tbh! I mean we could probably manage without if it comes to it but I'd rather have the money!

It's really annoying cos this role has a 3 month notice period so really if I want to leave I'm probably going to have to quit and then find something else within those 3 months because I don't think most companies for non senior positions expect you to be working a 3 month notice!! See how it works out... 🤷‍♀️

Stressedannni · 19/05/2023 20:04

Hey all sorry for not responding individually I have a terrible memory about who asks what. I know i do feel feel like a joy sucker when I read all those pregnancy forums and threads. I don't ever comment but i always think. I hope nothing goes wrong 🤞😞

Brokenpancreas94 · 19/05/2023 22:11

@suz2285 that sounds stressful! Fingers crossed for you!! I don't suppose many employers would want to employ someone who's pregnant either? As wrong as that is for them to do that.

This hip/groin pain is really driving me insane and I'm only 5 weeks 😭another sleepless night I think...I guess it's practice for what's to come again...well hopefully to come

tulipsunday · 20/05/2023 07:33

Hope you got some sleep @Brokenpancreas94 my hips are so achey still and haven't got any history of issues there so guess must be the hormones

Nausea definitely ramped up yesterday morning (when I had a long car journey to do 😬). Didn't experience it with my son so this is new. Hopefully although not pleasant is a good sign.

Hope everyone is ok. Sorry to read about work troubles. I am self employed so easier in the sense that I can take time off if needed but does mean maternity pay will be crap.

suz2285 · 20/05/2023 10:42

@Brokenpancreas94 yeah it's annoying cos I'm kinda stuck I can't move anywhere else right now but if I don't get this internal job I'll stick it out and after I go back I'll look for something else unless it miraculously gets better 😂

@tulipsunday Ooft the nausea, here as well... only 5 weeks and I def do not remember feeling this sick last time - though I do wonder with the MC if the hormones weren't as strong hence not as many symptoms.... my boobs were aching last time but this time not as bad but yeah I feel sick! Not fun... 😂 im sitting at the hairdresser and I should've brought snacks!

Brokenpancreas94 · 20/05/2023 15:23

@tulipsunday I managed to get some yes, but a 6am wake up call due to my partner throwing up, on call waiting for 111 to call back. No rest for the wicked 🥱

@suz2285 well I wish you all the luck, and hopefully you get the internal job!

The nausea for me comes and goes but it's only mild, my issue is gas!! So much and so smelly 😩🙈

Stressedannni · 20/05/2023 15:37

Anyone else found this weird that your taste buds change. And that things taste different!

suz2285 · 20/05/2023 16:06

@Brokenpancreas94 ah yes, the gas, I keep getting a sore stomach cos it's trapped in there, not nice!

@Stressedannni yeah, I'm at the stage of not really fancying anything food wise but also needing to eat little and often to avoid nausea! Nothing sounds appealing except anything potato based right now 😂

ChloeN · 20/05/2023 16:27

@tulipsunday Im self employed too, I didn’t even realise I got any maternity pay when I first started so I was pleasantly surprised 🤣

Brokenpancreas94 · 20/05/2023 18:05

@suz2285 same, and then the gas pain makes me panic 🤦🏼‍♀️

suz2285 · 20/05/2023 18:35

@Brokenpancreas94 yeah I'm having all sorts of cramps, some are def my womb, some are def gas 😂

tulipsunday · 20/05/2023 21:31

@suz2285 yes that's me needing to eat but can't decide what I fancy. Did randomly want a bowl of rice and soy sauce today though 😂

Still don't like the back pain and stomach cramps as make me worry but have to just try and trust that this time will be different.

tulipsunday · 20/05/2023 21:32

@Brokenpancreas94 how is your partner doing?

Brokenpancreas94 · 20/05/2023 21:50

@tulipsunday he is okay thank you, he has some antibiotics now...second lot in the last couple of weeks 😬

The back/hip pain is really bad for me at the moment, it's all the left side as well 😩 I'm terrible with pain as it is, have such a low pain threshold 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

suz2285 · 21/05/2023 08:38

@tulipsunday @Brokenpancreas94 we're all falling apart, blooming hormones!

I def need to try and do some movement this week! Last week with the blooming cold from hell I did nothing and my back is so stiff and I feel so unfit! Hopefully this week I'll be getting back to normal and also our bed is hopefully arriving today so might get off this floor mattress and onto a new bed and a proper new mattress 😂

WhiteHorse92 · 21/05/2023 12:27

Hiya, just moved myself over here as found out on Friday I'm pregnant again having had a miscarriage at 5+5 last month. I was on the Due December 2023 thread but started to bleed on the 14th April and unfortunately lost the pregnancy but apparently ovulation happened a couple of weeks later and am now expecting a January baby. Should be 5+2 according to when the miscarriage bleeding started but I don't track or use OPKs so have a feeling I might be a couple of days behind that. This time round I'm getting more hip pains and keep getting shooting pains in my pubic bone so feel like my womb is actually doing something this time so hoping everything is okay this time but to be honest I'm trying not to think too much about it and not getting particularly excited as I don't want to get my hopes up and go through the heartache again. I knew I had elevated TSH levels but wasn't on medication but after the miscarriage I saw the GP and I've now been taking levothyroxine for 4 weeks so feel like I've done everything possible for a healthy pregnancy. This will hopefully be baby no. 2 🙂

suz2285 · 21/05/2023 13:24

@WhiteHorse92 welcome! I've had way more cramping, nausea and other things I didn't have last time (with my MC) so I'm also hoping that's a good sign! Good luck! 🤞

WitcheryDivine · 21/05/2023 14:20

Thanks @Brokenpancreas94 if there’s anything going on in there I’m seven and a half weeks.

I'm having the opposite problem
to some of you, I’m suddenly feeling much “better”, less sick less tired more energy. Boobs still sore but not as sore. Have had some womb twinges today but that’s all.

that’s really making me paranoid but I feel if I ring the EPU and say I’m worried I don’t feel pregnant any more they’ll think I’m a loony.

WitcheryDivine · 21/05/2023 14:21

Also I was very poorly with non pregnancy related stuff last time so I don’t have any idea what a successful pregnancy feels like but also I don’t know what a well pregnancy feels like. Trying not to dwell on it but secretly expecting a poor outcome again.
