Pregant after miscarriage - support thread

Hi everyone,

I'm new to posting on mumsnet, but have spent plenty of time reading through others' conversations for reassurance when anxious, and this seems like such a friendly place!

I've just found out I'm pregnant again after the miscarriage of my first at 11 weeks in August. I would love to connect with other people in a similar situation.

I'm feeling relatively ok, i.e. not totally panicked all the time, about this one, but I know it's going to be hard. I really find it hard to believe sometimes that this could work out.

Please send a comment if you're in a similar situation and would like to share/receive some support!

@Daniki that's great the line is a bit stronger!

@TTCxox ah we are very close then! Feeling achey in hips, lower back and tender boobs. Sometimes waking up early.

Test a bit lighter this morn 😥 so hopefully it's not a chemical, will have to wait and see!

tulipsunday · 10/05/2023 09:22

@Daniki ah no stress you don't need. I will keep everything crossed for you x

Daniki · 10/05/2023 09:32

@tulipsunday hopefully nothing to worry about it! I had done a boots cheapie last night and it was stronger than the other ones so hopefully was just because it was my SMU this morning 🫣 xx

Stressedannni · 10/05/2023 10:43

I know it's difficult but stay away from tests they can cause more trouble than it's worth! Blood tests and scans are more concrete. I got another scan this Friday so I'm counting down until then. No side effects from them I can feel

Daniki · 10/05/2023 11:12

@Stressedannni I know you're so right and I'd give anyone the same advice! 🙈

Stressedannni · 10/05/2023 11:39

@Daniki it's so difficult what's rational and what the heart feels!!! 🧠🔥

Ah bless you, it's so hard when you're pregnant after a loss, hard to enjoy it! But there is absolutely no reason for anything to be wrong, just keep telling yourself all is fine ❤️ hope all goes well for you tomorrow, defo look into finding time each week just for yourself to be able to relax xx

Stressedannni · 10/05/2023 12:19

@38andtrying I have been there. Can the doctors prescribe you anything? It's just so horrible isn't it. The fear. Keep posting on here if you need to ❤️

tulipsunday · 10/05/2023 15:44

@38andtrying totally get how you are feeling I know I will be a bag of nerves when I get to my scan date.

Keep reminding yourself that the most likely outcome is that all will be well. ❤️

Stressedannni · 10/05/2023 16:37

@tulipsunday all the symptom spotting as well! Plus watching your body so intently

ChloeN · 10/05/2023 17:05

@TTCxox ahh I know can’t believe it! I think I’ve been quite lucky in the 2nd trimester, I’ve been sick a few times and a bit of back pain but other than that I’ve felt fine!

@38andtrying I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow lovely, hope it all goes well❤️

Daniki · 11/05/2023 05:06

Looks like I'm having a chemical, tested again this morning at 12dpo still so faint and hasn't progressed 😥 actually devasted and I can't bare the thought of going into work now 😩

tulipsunday · 11/05/2023 09:38

@Daniki so sorry if that is the case. Do you think you will test anymore or wait to see what happens? X

Daniki · 11/05/2023 09:42

@tulipsunday I'll just wait and see what happens as I can't face seeing a negative test 😥 hoping AF wont be delayed and I can just get on with it! Rang in sick today to mope at home and get over it 😓

tulipsunday · 11/05/2023 10:59

Good idea. It is so emotionally draining this whole process so good to take time for yourself when needed. Work can wait xx

Stressedannni · 11/05/2023 11:00

Sorry to hear that. 🌻

loulouhind · 11/05/2023 11:09

Morning all. Found out this week were pregnant and due on the 16th Jan.

Feel odd posting this as our 2 year old was IVF and at that point we were over the moon just to have a child we dearly wanted. Fast forward to October last year and we fell pregnant again. Unfortunately we had to TFMR and she was born sleeping on the 10th March.

We are both so scared of the same happening, we never thought we would fall pregnant again after our first, let alone two months after losing our daughter.

I feel a bit like a rabbit in the headlights. We have a 7 week scan in a month which I’m not going to lie about, I am going to be really scared and nervous for.

We were offered a CVS for genetic testing regardless of scans, but now we’re here we are in two minds due to the risks.

My head is scrambled!

tulipsunday · 11/05/2023 15:22

Welcome @loulouhind sorry to read about all you have gone through. Can understand why your head is in a bit of a scramble.

I have a 7 week scan coming up as well later this month- mine is to check how things are due to two consecutive miscarriages. Understand how you are feeling as I will also be absolutely bricking it!

Stressedannni · 12/05/2023 09:48

@38andtrying how are you?

Stressedannni · 12/05/2023 09:49

On my way to scan. Trying to keep it together!

38andtrying · 12/05/2023 10:24

@Stressedannni sorry I never had a chance yesterday to update, scan went amazing, everything looked perfect they said, so relieved. Good luck with your scan today xx hope all is well
