Hi everyone,

I'm new to posting on mumsnet, but have spent plenty of time reading through others' conversations for reassurance when anxious, and this seems like such a friendly place!

I've just found out I'm pregnant again after the miscarriage of my first at 11 weeks in August. I would love to connect with other people in a similar situation.

I'm feeling relatively ok, i.e. not totally panicked all the time, about this one, but I know it's going to be hard. I really find it hard to believe sometimes that this could work out.

Please send a comment if you're in a similar situation and would like to share/receive some support!

@TunnocksTCake glad to hear I’m not alone with hating window to the womb, had the most awful experience there! If your strips are getting darker I’m sure it’s fine, I’ve seen loads of threads lately saying the weeks indicators are crap and not to worry about them! Although I’m the same as you and did them until I got 2-3 and 3+ so I obviously don’t take my own advice🤣

TTCxox · 07/05/2023 09:15

Hi all, can I join pls ? I’ve recently found out I’m pregnant (a day before my period. It started off as brown spotting which I thought was my period but completely stopped then I tested positive). It’s been exactly 1 year since TTC with 3 losses during that time. I’ve decided not to tell a single soul until I hopefully have the birth. So im writing here. How has everyone got on with pregnancy after loss? (I just bought a book called that actually and will read it today).

Did anyone else have spotting further on during their pregnancy and was ok? I’m so scared of this as my first miscarriage tying for baby number 2 was at 9 weeks (started off with cramps then heavy bleeding passing clots), then my second was a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks but had a private scan and baby measured 6+2, started with cramps and bleeding aswell. Then my third was a chemical miscarriage the day before my period was due . So any sign of cramps and bleeding will be petrifying for me! Also The fact that with this current pregnancy I had brown spotting which was implantation bleeding freaks me out as I had it with my first pregnancy which led to a miscarriage.

My gp said to call on Wednesday and they will book me in for reassurance scans. Ages ago I booked a 1 week holiday to Greece next month where I’ll be 9/10 weeks pregnant. I will definitely explain to my gp this and ask to have a reassurance scan right before I fly away otherwise I won’t be able to relax . I have anxiety over this and asked my husband to make sure to call our travel insurance and see if the worst was to happen and i miscarry then they will be able to compensate our flights. Did anyone else have reassurance scans ? How often ? I want to ask if I can have them every 2 weeks until a bit over 12 weeks but don’t know if they will think I’m pushing it

Sorry for being a negative nancy. I guess with 4 miscarriages In total (another one in 2018 before I had my son) it’s normal to be so anxious 😞 I’m praying for the best !

ChloeN · 07/05/2023 10:49

Just had my scan! Everything is perfect with the baby, it was so cute seeing them move on the scan and feeling it on my belly ☺️ currently weighing 2lb 7oz!

tulipsunday · 07/05/2023 11:16

Welcome @TTCxox and @chickaboo81. Yes - getting a reassurance scan at 7 weeks at EPU not sure if will get any more before 12wks though I know I will be tempted to. I get the fear of blood and cramping - my heart skips a beat every time I go to the toilet 😬

@Nervousbuthopeful aw little girl how exciting 💖

@ChloeN so pleased the scan went ok! Fantastic news!! 🥰

ChloeN · 07/05/2023 14:22

@tulipsunday thank you🥹 it was lovely so glad I went!

TTCxox · 07/05/2023 14:38

Thx @tulipsunday i definitely know how that feels! How many weeks are you? How did you get your reassurance scan ? My gp just said to call on Wednesday when my doctor will be in and she will speak to me

yay @ChloeN glad to read everything was ok with the scan! How many weeks are you? Was it a reassurance scan or was it the 12 or 20 weeks scan? X

ChloeN · 07/05/2023 14:42

@TTCxox thank you! Im nearly 28 weeks! It was just a reassurance scan because there’s no way I could go 20 weeks with nothing 🤣 I did have an early scan this pregnancy too but not until 10 weeks because of how it fell with Christmas! It was hard to wait that long though!

tulipsunday · 07/05/2023 17:58

@TTCxox when I had my second miscarriage they said at the EPU I could have a scan for next pregnancy. Sounds like rules are a bit different for different trusts. I hope the doctor is helpful for you.

I am only 4wks+2 - found out this week.

chickaboo81 · 07/05/2023 18:13

@ChloeN excellent news ❤️

Peachy3118 · 08/05/2023 12:36

Hi everyone,

Currently 7+4 after 2 miscarriages in 2022 and to say I am anxious is an understatement. Had a scan on 5th and was told they could see an early pregnancy and to come back on 12th but all I can think about is our blighted ovum in august last year. Had no bleeding, no cramps and I have constant sickness/food aversions/no appetite so officially nothing to worry about but cannot stop overthinking.

Anyone else been scared to be excited or even be hopeful but trying their best to think positively..

Daniki · 08/05/2023 12:41

Hey ladies, got a vfffffl this morn at 9dpo 🤭 excited for the min but the anxiety is going to hit my like a tonne of bricks soon. 😫 I have meds to start once I got a BFP, will leave it a few days until I get a clearer line.
Is anyone here taking progesterone or anything? If cyclogest, aspirin and prednisone to start x

tulipsunday · 08/05/2023 19:31

@Peachy3118 Yes totally - scared to be positive but also trying to be at the same time. So glad all seems to be going well so far. I will be so happy when get to 7wks - feels so far away whilst only 4weeks 3!

@Daniki eeek I so hope this is it for you! Keep us updated xx

Beapo · 08/05/2023 19:35

Congrats to all the new pregnant mamas! I'm 28+2 weeks now and I just can't wait for him to be here, the anxiety of something going wrong is through the roof, especially when I've been poorly as well and now they want me to have scans to check for a blood clot in my lung. Baby has been fine so far it's just me that's not 😅 Feeling rather miserable right now and not being able to do anything because of this breathlessness and other things is driving me crazy. At least the little one is using me as a punching and kicking bag on a daily basis to remind me he's still there to be positive about ❤️

ChloeN · 08/05/2023 20:18

@Peachy3118 I felt the same, I did feel more positive about this pregnancy than my loss but it’s always there in the back of your mind! Hope your next scan goes okay! Xxx

@Daniki ahh hope you get a lovely dark line in the next day or 2🤞🏻

@Beapo we’re only a couple of days apart, I’m 27+5 today! Sorry to hear you’re not feeling great😢

Stressedannni · 08/05/2023 21:50

Hi all love this thread as we seem to be in the same situation. I'm pregnant under the recurrent miscarriage clinic. Having twice weekly scan now I'm 8 weeks. On Pesseries, injections baby aspirin. Still have that crippling anxiety. My symptoms are so different to my last pregnant. My last baby died at 17 weeks. So I'm in pieces.

Peachy3118 · 08/05/2023 23:51

@tulipsunday @ChloeN thanks ladies, just trying to take the wee wins for now. Thinking of you guys!

Im not a big believer in “signs” but today was a nervy day as both our previous MCs happened on 8th of the next month but tonight we saw a double rainbow so taking that’s my 2 wee rainbows sending me a wee message

tulipsunday · 09/05/2023 07:47

@Peachy3118 aw that's lovely 🌈 🌈

@Beapo sorry you aren't well. Can imagine that is stressful but sounds like you have a lovely active little one.

@Stressedannni hope the next few weeks until the 12wk scan go quickly for you.

Had the typical pregnancy thing of waking up really early and knowing I am going to be absolutely shattered come this afternoon 😂

Daniki · 09/05/2023 08:10

@Peachy3118 that's lovely 🌈 😍

@Stressedannni so sorry to read that, that must of been so difficult 😥 wishing you all the best with your pregnancy, hope the anxiety is not too much. Just take it one day at a time ❤️ how are you finding the meds? Iv the pessaries, aspirin and prednisone to start once I'm pregnant and not sure whether to start it now as iv got my faint positive or leave it until the line gets darker 🙈 xx

tulipsunday · 09/05/2023 19:35

Eek sent off my midwife form today. I think being organised and getting dates for things helps me feel a bit more in control of something I have very little control over!

Hope everyone doing ok today x

So exciting! How far along are ya? Iv a draft email in my emails waiting to send for booking appointment I don't want to jinx myself yet but want to make sure I get scan on the actual 12th week because my best friends hen is that wknd and I can't be arsed lying 😂 x

Stressedannni · 09/05/2023 19:47

@Daniki @tulipsunday I haven't even registered with a midwife yet keep putting it off as I'm too scared. The meds are fine the Pesseries I take anally lol. I didn't want to take vaginally as I worried about bleeding and irritation. I think the Pesseries are definitely helping as before when I had that pinky mucus it led straight to misscarige. The injections are fine. Has anyone told anyone yet. I never do FB stuff as I'm can't face it coming back on my timeline if it goes wrong!

Stressedannni · 09/05/2023 19:48

@Daniki I got mine as soon as baby was confirmed early on. You have to really push!

ChloeN · 09/05/2023 21:28

@tulipsunday ahh that’s exciting!! I didn’t do mine until after 7 weeks and then they moaned at me🤣🤣

TTCxox · 09/05/2023 21:44

Hey @tulipsunday we are nearly the same I’m 4 weeks + 3 ☺️ Do you have any symptoms yet ? I don’t have any!

@Peachy3118 I came on here to say the same thing, I saw a double rainbow today, and got emotional thinking it was a sign 🌈

@daniki have you tested to see if the liner is stronger ? Hope it is X

@ChloeN ahh 28 weeks , how are you feeling ? Only 12 weeks left !!

@Stressedannni so sorry to hear about your late miscarriage. I take the pessaries too up the backside 🙈 as I have cervical ectropion and don’t want to risk any bleeding. they’re actually not that bad once you get used to it. I’ve had no side effects so far 🙏🏼 have you? I also am planning not to register with the midwife until much later although my gp said to call them tomorrow to arrange some reassurance scans so I probably have to register ? I hate going to that same hospital where the midwife clinic is, I’ve been twice to register there and had one of the miscarriages there so I don’t have any good feelings about the hospital

Daniki · 09/05/2023 21:47

@TTCxox yep tested again twice today 😂 and slightly stronger! 🙏

@Stressedannni i just started the medications today thought I may aswell give myself the best chance this time round! I think Il register for booking app on Friday, I'm due on either fri or Saturday so hopefully Il have a stronger test by then and will try and get into the docs Monday morn perhaps as will need the higher strength folic acid again due to my own autoimmune issues x
