@BabyFour2023 oh wow, I'm not far off that now 🙈

It might just be bloating! I bloat quite a bit initially, particularly in the evening but it goes for me around 11/12 weeks. If not I’m sure you’ll have a gorgeous bump 😍❤️ And hopefully won’t get the back pain I get as mine must grow in my back. The baby in that bump photo was 6lb 13 so not particularly small either!

squirrelnutkins1 · 29/12/2022 22:09

Yep. I had to buy mat tights at 7 weeks cus of the bloat! 12 weeks tomorrow and I'm just so glad it's winter, thick jumpers are my saviour for hiding it at the mo!

Coffeeforlife · 29/12/2022 23:35

@BabyFour2023 oh bloody Nora I'm bigger than that now at 13+5.... Number 3 for me

PumpkinDart · 29/12/2022 23:38

Hey Mamas, I was wondering if there was a July Babies thread. I'm due the 19th (approx as only had an early scan so far). Suffering with HG (and killer constipation) it's not been easy so far. I'm also so bloated, I look like someone's shoved a beach ball up my dress. Hope you're all well ☺️

Hi there, I'm new and due July 14th. Just had my 12 week scan and excited/nervous/all the feelings.

Has anyone here done private NIPT testing? I did and when asked at my first scan the NHS then said they don't do the combined test if I've had that as the NIPT is more accurate. I completely understand that but I did the NIPT privately for peace of mind and am now feeling anxious that I've lost out on the second screening as my sort of confirmation. To the extent that I'm up at 4am worrying about it and my scan was only yesterday!😨

Is this normal?

i have had the nipt. the nipt is more accurate than the nhs screening, so i don't think you're missing out if you don't get the nhs screening. there's more probability of a worrying result that is unfounded if you do the nhs screening than there is if you do nipt, which is why i wanted to do nipt from the outset!!

@Hjudge56 Re old wives’ tales, when I was in my 42nd week of pregnancy(!) last time I looked them up for fun (we didn’t know the sex):

  1. Craving sweet things = girl, salty or protein rich = boy
  2. Excessive morning sickness = girl
  3. ’Glowing’ = boy, spotty = girl
  4. Partner also gaining weight = girl
  5. If you’re moody = girl, mellow = boy
  6. Look in the mirror, if your pupils dilate = boy
  7. Carrying high = girl, low = boy
  8. Put wedding ring on string over bump, if it swings in circular motion = girl. Side to side = boy
  9. Baby’s heart rate higher than 140bpm, lower = boy
  10. Use a Chinese Gender Chart
  11. Use Mayan Gender Chart
  12. Swollen legs and ankles = boy
  13. More clumsy = boy, graceful = girl
  14. Baby has opposite gender to the one in your dreams
  15. Headaches = boy
  16. Increased hairy-ness = boy
  17. Struggling to sleep = boy
  18. If your nose widens during pregnancy = boy
  19. If your mum’s hair colour is grey it’s an boy(?!)
  20. If your chest is huge during pregnancy = girl

Bit more than you bargained for there 😅 As you can tell, I was pretty bored at 42 weeks!

Last time 12 of them suggested girl, 2 suggested boy and 6 were neither in particular… and I had a little girl! (I’m pretty science-y so way too sceptical to believe them, but it was fun anyway!)

Coffeeforlife · 30/12/2022 14:21

@Nervousnancy23 If the NHS one comes out higher risk they do a NIPT to see what's happening as it's much more accurate. So you haven't missed out on anything, other than at mine they said there's some potential marker in the bloods for smaller babies, but I'm not sure if all trusts look for that x

BabyFour2023 · 30/12/2022 14:55

@Rutennotou how are you?

MamaSJ15 · 30/12/2022 17:32

@BabyFour2023 @squirrelnutkins1 yeah I definitely get bigger after eating 🤣 I used to shrink back down in the mornings but it's no longer doing that so its definitely more of a bump.

@ThePodParent haha some of those are so strange!

septembersapphire7 · 30/12/2022 18:41

I’ve had some brown discharge and cramping for the last 2 days but due to bank holiday can’t be seen in epau until next week for a scan 😔 nearly 12weeks so thought I was in the clear but this worry is all consuming!

but my sister in law gave me a lovely belly book to read for Christmas and it made me very happy to start reading it today ☺️

Rutennotou · 31/12/2022 08:37

@BabyFour2023 I'm good thanks, spotting has stopped again! Hopefully just a blip and things continue to go okay. How are you?

Thinking on a scan in 3 weeks time to break up the wait until the big one. Might see if we can find out the gender too!

ScarletDreams · 31/12/2022 09:29

Hi all, thought I would check in as it has been a while since I did so!
Anyone else been having trouble writing on here? I start to write and part way through it acts as though I'm holding my enter key down and causing huge gaps down the page. I end up giving up writing anything and just sticking to the fb groups. This has been going on for weeks now and is so frustrating!

Anyway, 11w+2 and I'm so so bloated! I'm hoping this eases off soon, as by the end of the day I look around 6 months pregnant and I'm usually blessed with a flat stomach so it is very obvious! It's my first pregnancy so I didn't expect to look so big so soon! We are going to see friends tonight and I don't know how I will hide it.

It's lovely to see all the 12 weeks scans being posted, I feel like it has taken a long time to get the this point. I.have mine booked for the 11th of Jan when I will be 12+6.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas

That sounds a good plan and it’ll ease your mind too! I’m glad the spotting has stopped. Fingers crossed for a smooth ride for you now 🤞🏼
All good here, I’m just super tired but that’s probably running round after my boys who are 5 & 3 😂

babybrainfart · 03/01/2023 13:56

I thought my nausea was easing, but back to work today and its really hit me. Also got far too use to an afternoon nap around this time after two weeks off.

Glowen · 03/01/2023 15:10

Hi everyone, happy new year.

I am really worried. I’m 11+5. Dating scan is 12th jan. I’ve had 2 other scans, private at 8 weeks and nhs at 9+4 and both seemed okay. Since then I have had 2 UTIs and other than that, I don’t seem to have many symptoms. I am worried the antibiotics will have a negative impact, or that I’ve had another MMC. Anyone else had recurrent UTIs early on and their babies be fine?

squirrelnutkins1 · 03/01/2023 20:03

@Glowen Hi. I've had one course of antibiotics for a UTI this pregnancy. I had my 12 week scan following that and all is ok. X

PumpkinDart · 03/01/2023 22:37

Hi @Glowen I've had antibiotics for UTIs in early pregnancy with my eldest and all was fine. Hopefully your 12 week scan can reassure you!

septembersapphire7 · 04/01/2023 17:47

Hi all, had a small scare at my epau scan today- when I went to give urine sample, had a gush of blood and some clots! Thankfully, the lovely sonogropher reassured me with heartbeat and as my dating scan was due next week anyway (I’m 12+6 today) she did the whole thing and my bloods for me.

attaching my scan (it’s nothing like the lovely private scan places though 😂).. I think I see a boy nub but will just wait till 20weeks to check. i’m still bleeding so have that worry but I’m relieved I got to see heartbeat and a wriggly baby today.

Best of luck to everyone with their dating scans 💛

MamaSJ15 · 04/01/2023 20:38

@septembersapphire7 oh I'm so sorry for that scare! Good that you were there when it happened though. Lovely scan photo, thank you for sharing. My dating scan is tomorrow 😊

RandomCatGenerator · 04/01/2023 21:11

What is meant by a nub? As in you can see a sort of proto penis…?

Had scan on Monday, I am 12 weeks tomorrow and all looks well 🥰 I’m so relieved. Having so recently miscarried (very early) I’m very worried about it happening again.

Told friends and family etc now. Now panicking about work as financially I need to get a promotion before mat leave…

septembersapphire7 · 04/01/2023 21:35

@RandomCatGenerator a nub just means a bit of something but the nub theory is something people sometimes use to guess gender at 12w scan- looking at angle of the genital tubercle compared to the spine (if it’s >30 degrees it’s a boy, less than 30, a girl). Just a bit of fun whilst waiting for the gender scan so thought I’d play for fun.

good luck for your work promotion! Hope all goes well.

and good luck for your scan tomorrow @MamaSJ15 ☺️

RandomCatGenerator · 04/01/2023 21:43

Oh that’s fascinating @septembersapphire7 - I had no idea it was so complicated. Shall do some googling…

Summersun3 · 04/01/2023 22:02

Hello,

I'm new to this thread, loving people's scan pictures, thanks for sharing.

I'm 12+5 and having a bit of a bra nightmare. My normal ones feel like torture so I bought bralettes a size up but seem to have grown out of these already too. I don't want to go the whole hog and get nursing bras because there is still loads of time to grow. How do others manage this in-between time? Do i need to bite the bullet and get fitted , knowing I'll probably outgrow again in a few months?

Any tips/advice appreciated!

MamaSJ15 · 04/01/2023 22:37

@septembersapphire7 thank you, will update tomorrow 😊

@Summersun3 hello! I would suggest non underwired nursing bras. as far as I am aware (or at least in my experience) they don't keep growing through the whole pregnancy so from around now they should level out and you should be okay to buy a couple that fit nicely and they should see you through the pregnancy 😊 I've just ordered a couple myself! I've had incredibly sore boobs this time, with my first I didn't have any boob pain at all!
