Eryr22 · 20/10/2022 13:25

Congratulations @Anna783426 so nice to hear and gorgeous name! 🥰

I keep putting off reading anything pregnancy related/ coming on here because I'm trying to distract myself but it's not working!!

I've had very mild period pains which are far and few between for 6 days. However yesterday they were much stronger and lasted all day! I was adamant something was going to happen last night and it didn't 😞 now not having any period pains at all!

38+2 and just want her here! Struggling with tiredness, and like others have mentioned, I really want my body back! These stretch marks are also piling up by the day! Also, YES to the sensitivity down there and feeling like your knickers are too tight! Im now going commando 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

CurlyNo2 · 20/10/2022 20:00

I really don’t think my bump can get any bigger! I feel like I could actually pop, it’s so sore and I have another 5 weeks to go. I’m way bigger than I was with my son.

Bubblegum20 · 20/10/2022 21:33

@CurlyNo2 I know exactly what you mean I'm much bigger this time around too, I've also got just under 5 weeks to go!

Eryr22 · 20/10/2022 22:22

Haha yes @CurlyNo2 I keep bumping into things!

CurlsnLipstick · 20/10/2022 22:28

Just thinking ahead. Was unable to breastfeed my previous DC because of hormonal issues. This time however, my prolactin levels seem normal. I'm cautiously hopeful because it's such a devastating feeling despite rationally knowing 'fed is best'.

My boobs are flaccid but grown in cup size. What should I be feeling ATM, pre birth?
Sometimes I feel little twinges on the side of my right boob, other times a sharp pain in my nipples. Is this a sign?

Eryr22 · 20/10/2022 23:10

@CurlsnLipstick this is my first so I can't answer from experience but my boobs feel no different at all. I've tried harvesting colostrum 3 times now and nothing has happened but the midwife said not to be concerned about that. She said most of your prolactin is produced once the placenta leaves the body. I'll keep trying. But to answer your question... I'm not feeling anything 😅

Beanniebaby22 · 20/10/2022 23:34

@CurlsnLipstick I’ve been leaking colostrum after showering since 22 weeks. Can usually squeeze a small amount out at other times too. Right boob gets itchy quite a lot and occasional stabbing pains.

This is my first pregnancy so don’t really know what is normal, but everyone is different!

CurlsnLipstick · 20/10/2022 23:52

@Eryr22 and @Beanniebaby22 that's honestly reassuring. No colostrum here yet. I suppose the surest way to find out is once baby arrives.
Also, congrats on being FTMs💐

Still tossing and turning this late. Severe heartburn. Hope I can drift off soon.

Beanniebaby22 · 20/10/2022 23:59

@CurlsnLipstick oh I was tortured with heartburn for weeks and weeks it was terrible. Was glugging so much Gaviscon every day.
But I’m taking Esomeprazole every morning now and the heartburn is completely gone.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 21/10/2022 00:02

No colostrum here either. And I was never really able to get any with any of my previous pregnancies - even though post natal I overproduced prolactin (actually was diagnosed with a prolactinoma) and still could squeeze out milk waaaaaaaaaay after I stopped breastfeeding (I'm talking years later)
My boobs are a bit bigger but nipples are huge and darker! Actually, all my skin pigmentation has gone darker - all my freckles etc.

TFMinx · 21/10/2022 07:31

I've made it to my last day of work! Naturally, as punishment, my boss has told me I'm to cover three different year groups (primary) and all will have a ton of marking, so no leaving as soon as possible as I'd hoped. Clawing my seized up back and huge bump over the finish line now.

tb4122 · 21/10/2022 07:43

@TFMinx last day of work for me too. Not anticipating an easy one as it's a Friday but it's the last day where I'll have to be on my feet for 8.5 hours... my ankles are now swelling despite my compression socks Confused

greenerfingers · 21/10/2022 07:45

@CurlsnLipstick I had zero changes last pregnancy, not even growth or fullness. 2 days post partum and they were the size of melons with huge milk glands. I breastfed 2 years and could squeeze a tiny drop of milk for months after.. now in pregnancy I can't squeeze anything out so definitely everyone is different. I have a feeling the same will happen again but this time I'm armed with hot flannels for my underarms (ouch!)

CurlsnLipstick · 21/10/2022 07:48

All the best with last days at work ladies.

Thanks @Beanniebaby22, currently take peptac liquid which is similar to gaviscon and not doing much lately. Will look into the omeprazole.

@ALittleBitofVitriol that's actually interesting, have the same thing with increased pigmentation

CurlsnLipstick · 21/10/2022 07:51

@greenerfingers wow that's great. I really don't want to get too excited! Your comment makes me really hopeful. Will remember the hot flannels- if it happens. Thanks 😊

greenerfingers · 21/10/2022 07:57

Congrats @TFMinx and @tb4122. Shows my pregnancy brain.. I thought how strange they're both finishing on a Thursday. Didn't even register it's a Friday 🤦🏽‍♀️. I'd stopped working but have taken on one last project end of next week so that'll be my official goodbye. It's only two days though.

Had such a long night with an unwell toddler. Fevers and colds he can handle but he has HFAM so was crying most the night. Finally got him down at 4:30am and up again at 7am yawn. Not looking forward to the next few days and it's a stark reminder of the newborn/teething days.

greenerfingers · 21/10/2022 08:01

@CurlsnLipstick I remember it happened one night and I thought my arms were aching from the crazy long labour. Didn't think to latch LO or take some milk out. By the next evening most of the milk had dried up (literally that's how fast it came in and out). It took me two weeks of pumping/cluster feedings for hours, to finally get my milk to come in again a second time (not as dramatic but LO was finally doing wet nappies and I could pump a tiny amount into a cup). I was lucky and this time know how fast my body will react. So if you're anything like me (hand express/ pump/ feed) regularly to try and get some milk out post-delivery. Best of luck!

OtiMama · 21/10/2022 08:11

@CurlsnLipstick I wouldn't worry and size of boobs has nothing to do with ability to produce milk. Boob size is fat, the milk is separate. I didn't produce anything pre my son and when he was born I could express loads of colostrum. If you have an infant feeding team at your hospital or local feeding support group, reach out for help when he's born. I find midwives here just weren't very helpful and if I hadn't found that team there is no way I would have fed my son as the midwife just didn't give in depth advice or check tongue tie etc. I appreciate some must be better than others.

My son turned 2 yesterday, such a busy day and I was shattered by the end of it. Appears he was too as he's been asleep 13 hours so far and not awake yet. I was awake quite a lot in the night, feeling like baby is moving downwards and generally bashing his limbs around. Sometimes I wonder if he is doing everything I think he is or whether I'm dreaming some of it, making it seem worse!

@greenerfingers sorry you've had a rough night, physically it is so hard with a toddler when heavily pregnant let alone when they need that extra help and comfort due to sickness. I hope he is feeling better soon.

@TFMinx and @tb4122 yay to last days, hope it goes fast for you. I've got one more week to go, although not working the full week.

Beanniebaby22 · 21/10/2022 09:22

@TFMinx @tb4122 Yayy nearly there! Get the feet up when you get home later. My last day is on Wednesday next week, can’t wait!

Bramblecrumble22 · 21/10/2022 09:25

My boobs prickle when I hear babies crying, since late summer. I had a successful breastfed with my first until she was 2 and a half. It was a rocky start and I did a lot of expressing when she was newborn, pump and hand. Amazing a year after she stopped, i could still hand express little Perls, out of curiosity. Now I definitely have colestrum but I'm not harvesting it. I have small boobs, it's not an issue. Sometimes they are more firm in the evening.

I remember when my daughter started on solids, she loved food so much more than milk so I hand expressed into wheetabix and mashed root veg. My DH thought it was gross but it was best for my baby and my too full,. uncomfortable boobs. I did a breastfeed, express formula every feed as a newborn due to baby being premature and jaundice so that set me off with oversupply issues. This time I'm going to steer clear of expressing, especially to begin with.

Bramblecrumble22 · 21/10/2022 09:32

There was a feeding team on my ward. A different person each time with a different approach was confusing. The midwives helped latch but left, and as.my first I didn't realize she wasn't supposed to fall asleep so quickly. The best member of staff was a student midwife, maybe 3/4 days after giving birth she took the time to teach my husband how to burp the baby and me to hand express. She collected with a syringe and we had a laugh because she saw my boobs and said I was going to shoot her in the face. I didn't carry on with the syringes because I couldn't get the hang of it and the next person I saw gave me an electric pump. When I moved rooms and asked for the pump back, they said it's too early for a pump but when I said I'd allready used one gave me one.

Skyways · 21/10/2022 10:10

Congratulations @Anna783426 💐

Another heartburn sufferer here! Seems like anything triggers it during this pregnancy, even plain toast 😞
The only thing that helps me is eating ice cubes or drinking ice cold water and eating smaller portions.
It’s always worse at night too, I have 4 pillows to prop me up to keep the acid from coming up.

I haven’t felt any changes this time either and was worried about production of milk. Thanks for the reassurances!
@OtiMama With my first (9 years ago) I was struggling feeding my son, mum took me to a feeding support team, they were so much more helpful and knowledgeable than any midwife or HV.

Has anyone got any pump recommendations? I remember getting very painfully full as son wasn’t drinking enough, they were hard lumps. So bought one in last minute panic but it was so uncomfortable and so hard to clean!

Those of you with toddlers and bump.. you are superheroes… and have to admit I’m a bit jealous too, it’s so precious when toddler is holding newborn. I keep looking at photos of my two that age 😊❤

@TFMinx @tb4122 my last day too! Luckily I’ve only been given one maths lesson to cover and I’ve got to leave early for a growth scan! Can’t wait to not have to wear my work clothes, I’m bulging out of them haha.
