@ALittleBitofVitriol you sound like me, in my last pregnancy I was lucky enough to have no stretch marks! This time around I've got about 10 they are all below my belly button just hoping they fade afterwards a bit, I'm only 35+3 so I'll probably get some more before I give birth

roobearbaby · 19/10/2022 22:24

I've got stretch marks all around my belly button. I honestly thought I had got away with it!

I'm not normally one for caring about body image but I found myself quite upset about it. I was really surprised by my reaction!

greenerfingers · 19/10/2022 22:32

Has zero stretch marks with my first, surprising as I got stretch marks when I hit puberty 😂. This time it's like a tiger has been at my stomach. And it's measuring smaller than my first. Just the cycle of life I guess.

Beanniebaby22 · 19/10/2022 22:57

I can’t tell which stretch marks were already there before and which are new. My weight has fluctuated a lot over the last few years. So I honestly don’t know if any of them have actually been caused by pregnancy or I’m just noticing them more now 🤷🏽‍♀️

Was visiting my Mum tonight and she said oh just think another few weeks and you’ll have a baby….

That scares me a little bit, it’s so close now, I really don’t feel ready 🙈🙈

OtiMama · 20/10/2022 02:55

Sorry trying and failing to keep up, I'm awake as usual and can't get back to sleep. It feels so hot tonight. My son is 2 tomorrow, I could do with the energy! This really makes me realise how fast time goes, he was my newborn baby not long ago in my eyes.

@Beanniebaby22 I don't feel ready either, I'm finding it bizarre but I felt more ready not just physically but also mentally last time round. I guess I'm just physically more uncomfortable now and have less time to prepare. I was thinking i will be glad to not work soon but then I didn't yesterday, had quite a full on day and felt so exhausted and sore all evening, that was with a nap! Had my fluids checked again yesterday at hospital, they are lower again but not too far down the scale so that's good. Got less than a month to go, which seems so near but yet so far when you've had enough! Despite being my second pregnancy this is all new to me, I didn't have any of this discomfort first time round, I realise now how lucky I was.

I still need to clear my side of the bed to make room for the crib and also do more with my hospital bag prep, I kinda shoved a few things in a bag the other week and thought I was done the other week! Since then I must have used half of it again. Two friends had their babies in the last week too, I'm living through them currently.

Beanniebaby22 · 20/10/2022 04:33

@OtiMama wide awake club over here too.

And ditto about the hospital bag. I had mine sorted a few weeks ago, or so I thought. But have since picked up a few extra bits and there’s some stuff I think I’ll take out of it. Just need to find the time to sort it all out.

My work has been full on these last few weeks and I am so ready to be done! Only 4 more shifts left thank God.

We've had a baby! Olive was born last night at 37 weeks, weighing just over 7 and a half pounds. The hospital I'm in is crazy busy with babies so although I was meant to be induced Monday that never happened and my waters broke naturally last night. Two hours later Olive made her entrance and we're now enjoying early morning snuggles. 100% worth it for the post-birth tea and toast!

Good luck everyone!

Beanniebaby22 · 20/10/2022 04:52

@Anna783426 Congratulations! First baby in the group 😊

CurlsnLipstick · 20/10/2022 05:11

@Anna783426 congratulations to you and family!!! Enjoy the cuddles. This makes it feel more real. 🥳 🎉

I'm unable to sleep, just tossing and turning. Feeling more uncomfortable than usual.

Domibeva · 20/10/2022 05:44

Hey everyone!

after some advice more than anything.

currently 37 weeks - saw consultant yesterday, happy with babies growth but they don’t want me going over 41 weeks - 3rd baby I have a blood clotting disorder which means my blood clots exceptionally quick.

ive been offered a sweep in 2 weeks at 38+6

id be happy to have baby Ofcourse but just not sure if it would work so early ?

they checked today and baby is fully engaged so they did question if I would go that far. But I’ve not had any signs apart from back ache!

does anyone have any advice or a similar scenario etc

thank you

xx

Anna783426 · 20/10/2022 06:38

@domibeva I had two sweeps just before 37 weeks and baby was born yesterday, two days after first sweep - I think they definitely helped, although when they checked in the first sweep I was already 3cm dilated

Elle1709 · 20/10/2022 06:41

@Anna783426 congratulations and such a lovely name ❤

Thanks for everyone's comments on stretch marks, it seems most of us have them. I know its not important, but it really lowered my self esteem over the last few days! I'm ready for this baby to be out now 👶

TFMinx · 20/10/2022 06:45

How lovely @Anna783426 congratulations! Baby one done!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 20/10/2022 06:46

Congratulations @Anna783426 and welcome to the world little Olive 💕

@Domibeva, I had a sweep at 40+2 I think with my last baby (#4) and had him at 40+3, but he was posterior and not my easiest birth, I always wondered if the sweep kicked things off a bit earlier than he was ready for. If it will work depends on how ready your body is. Good luck!

Domibeva · 20/10/2022 06:50

@ALittleBitofVitriol
it makes me wonder.. I had a sweep with my last at 40w and she came 40+2 but I just wonder if having it that week earlier will really make that much of a difference! but I suppose your right if my body and baby is ready he will come.

thank you!

OtiMama · 20/10/2022 07:16

I agree with others, I think sweeps can help if baby is ready.

@Anna783426 huge congratulations, it must have been nice to naturally go into labour whilst having to be induced in the end. Sounds like she was ready! I adore the name Olive. Hope you are feeling OK, enjoy those snuggles.

smiles39 · 20/10/2022 07:16

@Anna783426 congrats, how exciting, our first baby of the group! Love the name Olive, it’s one of our top 3 if it’s a girl ❤️

CurlyNo2 · 20/10/2022 07:19

Congratulations @Anna783426 Such lovely news to wake up too! Hope you’re both doing ok.

1st day of May leave today for me and I’ve no idea what I’m going to do… haha!

Feb85 · 20/10/2022 07:26

Aww Congratulations @Anna783426 what lovely news, welcome to the world baby Olive

Bubblegum20 · 20/10/2022 07:40

Aww congratulations @Anna783426 that's such lovely news, and such a good weight for 37 weeks! Welcome to the world little Olive

greenerfingers · 20/10/2022 07:46

Congratulations @Anna783426! Such wonderful news and such a beautiful name 🥰. Sounds like you had a really nice straightforward labour too without all the induction processes.

I agree with PP about a sweep only working if your body is already starting labour naturally @Domibeva. I was offered once with my first at 38 and 39 and refused and I'm glad as I went into labour naturally at 39+6 and even then had a really long tough labour with baby posterior. Can't imagine how it would have been if I had it earlier. I did read once those who are induced post 40 weeks tend to have far easier less intravenous inductions than those before, that's when things can often go on their head.

I was up all night last night too with discomfort breathing and a feverish toddler who was up most the night wanting cuddles over my bump. It made me think oh God is this how it will be with two young children poorly 😦😯! Reality set in a little.

Domibeva · 20/10/2022 07:50

@greenerfingers i totally get what you mean!
maybe I’m better off hanging on that extra week to see if he makes an appearance on his own, then maybe try at 40 weeks!

I’ve had both my girls at 39+5 and 40 + 2 so I wonder if maybe this one will just appear around this date anyway!

it really doesn’t help we move house in a week and my stress levels are through the roof 😂

greenerfingers · 20/10/2022 07:58

Oh wow you're moving house now 😅! Good luck I hope it all goes smoothly!

Bramblecrumble22 · 20/10/2022 12:09

Congratulations @Anna783426 !!

Beanniebaby22 · 20/10/2022 13:12

Oh goodness the third trimester insomnia is no joke! I was down in the kitchen at half 4 this morning cleaning the fridge 🙈
