@NotAdultingToday I'm doing ok today! Had a random burst of energy today and managed to do some cleaning in the kitchen which I haven't felt able to do for a while which was lovely!

Beanniebaby22 · 22/11/2022 18:30

@NotAdultingToday yes our due date was pretty crowded lol. Looks like only one born on the 18th?

Yeah it helped talking everything through with the GP. I’m beating myself up about the breast feeding not going well and feeling guilty about DS being poorly.

Probably hormones and tiredness. Just love him so much and don’t want him to be unwell or suffering in any way.

FishyBaby · 22/11/2022 22:07

@NotAdultingToday I'm an 18th due date and still waiting with no signs.
Long walks and bouncing on the ball don't seem to be having an impact, tonight hubby suggested a curry so we'll have to see how that goes!

Kathno4 · 22/11/2022 22:16

Congratulations all on the births and good luck to everyone else waiting, baby boy is 3 weeks old today and I’ve had a little cry over it, why’s it got to go so fast 😩 baby number 4 and my last over here and it makes me sad to think I won’t be doing this again - though I really struggle with all these changes in hormones so should be glad 🤣 looking forward to getting bubs weighed on Friday as he was born 7lb 1oz and by 10 was already 7lb 12oz 😍 my eldest had a cuddle today after a few days without and commented how heavy he felt. He’s such a good boy and is getting on great. I’m just over here waiting for my hormones to level out as I’ve really been struggling with the highs and the lows this time around. Pretty sure it’s down to the rainy shitty days to be honest, other children were born feb, April and august so was pretty mild and bright and could go out for walks often. Xx

greenerfingers · 22/11/2022 23:40

Congratulations @OtiMama. That sounds so stressful at the time but so glad it worked out and you managed to get a natural birth so hopefully faster healing time.

Glad to hear everyone else is doing well. I feel ragey and tearful toward the end. The last 2/3 days have been better but gosh before that was horrible. Even now I have to take it one day at a time and tell myself it's almost over. The SPD is the hardest thing for me this pregnancy and the not knowing. I'm always on edge about my waters breaking somewhere or childcare.

greenerfingers · 23/11/2022 09:30

Had a sweep yesterday and it's done nothing so far. I've accepted I will be pregnant forever 🐘😭

tb4122 · 23/11/2022 09:56

I will be offered a sweep this afternoon but I still think I'm going to decline it. 40+4 today but it's my first baby so going over was always reasonably likely.

Feel very sore on waking up today, hips painful, SPD painful, back painful. Have been walking more to try to get things moving, which I suspect is why everything feels so ouchy.

FishyBaby · 23/11/2022 10:02

@greenerfingers @tb4122 I havent quite accepted I'll be pregnant forever, but people keep asking how the bump is, and my response is definitely along the lines of - far too happy being a bump!

I have an appointment tomorrow and will be offered a sweep. Given I'll be 40+6 I'll probably take it as I'd like to avoid induction.

tb4122 · 23/11/2022 10:10

I have, so far, been quite lucky and had very few messages of "is he here yet?". Then again, I'm at home, very rural, keeping myself to myself. My sister, on the other hand, works in the village shop and people keep asking her if I've had the baby yet. She said yesterday she's going to pin a sign on her front that says "no, not yet" Grin

greenerfingers · 23/11/2022 10:29

If it's your first the sweep most likely wouldn't work anyway @tb4122 and could even delay things. I went for it since my plug has been going for weeks now and my first was 39+6 so thought it would help. She said 2-3cm dilated, no plug and baby's head is there so hopefully not long to go but I won't be having any more done as it really really hurt my SPD and tbh baby will probably come same time as if I hadn't had it done.

tb4122 · 23/11/2022 10:35

@greenerfingers the midwife did say last time that they really only work if you're pretty much about to go into labour anyway. I've had no loss of plug (that I've noticed anyway) and I guess she'll be able to tell how low baby is from palpation. I'm a little bit interested to know whether there is any dilation... but possibly not interested enough to have a hand up my nether regions today!

rickandmorts · 23/11/2022 14:31

I had my 39 week appt today and the midwife said 'okay we'll book you in for a sweep next week'. I was like erm no you won't as I don't want one 🤣. Was a bit surprised there was no discussion and she just posed it as a statement not a question. So I'm booked in for one the week after when I'm 41 weeks but really don't want one so hopefully baby is here before then because inductions etc are now being mentioned (I'm 39 weeks ffs!!). Will cross that bridge when we come to it. I'm all set up for a home birth so really don't want to be induced, I'm going to wait til 42 weeks before I will discuss/ consider anything.

tb4122 · 23/11/2022 14:50

Midwife was totally happy not to do a sweep today but has booked my induction for 42+1 if baby hasn't made his appearance by then. I was a bit surprised to be being booked in but she said it's better to be on the list now and not need it than for there not to be space. She initially tried to book for 42+5 but that day and the next two were already full. I'm still a bit undecided as to whether I would rather have an ELCS than an induction but apparently I can discuss this at the time. She recommended having the pessary put in as my body might react well to it but if it's doing nothing then discuss c section again at that point if I really don't want to continue with the induction.

Was your sweep painful at all? Or just more uncomfortable? Anything happening yet after it?

Fingers crossed baby makes an appearance before then!! Let us know how you get on x

greenerfingers · 23/11/2022 15:33

This will sound so weird but it was ticklish and weird 🫤🫤. I was so worried by the horror stories but I do think my cervix is really soft as it was so easy for her to enter and do it. She also said I was dilated 2-3cm which probably added to why it wasn't uncomfortable for me.

CurlyNo2 · 23/11/2022 15:47

Hope you’re all doing ok ladies. Not long to go.. although I appreciate you must be sick of hearing this!!

Day 5 and the blues have hit. Feel like a total failure breastfeeding and also being a mum to DS1. I feel like I’ve given him no attention since the baby was born, but at the minute I don’t know my arse from my elbow.

Also midwife came out and weighed baby and he has dropped 6% of his birth weight and again feel like I’ve done everything wrong. She told me that I haven’t been feeding him enough formula top up and I’m trying to initiate BF. I feel like I want to give up BF.

A BF worker came out today to try and help me with the issues I’m having and she wasn’t the nicest person and came across as though I should know what I’m doing and just get on with it.

Sorry, having a massive hormone surge today as my milk has just come in.

Beanniebaby22 · 23/11/2022 16:08

Oh @CurlyNo2 I know exactly how you feel! I’m the same feeling low about the breast feeding and feeling guilty and sad.

That’s unfortunate midwife and BF support made you feel that way 🙁

I’ve been fortunate community midwife and health visitor have been very understanding and supportive with me. Still feel crap about the feeding not going as well as I hoped it would.

CurlyNo2 · 23/11/2022 17:12

I forgot the overwhelmed feeling that comes post birth. I’m sorry to hear that you are all feeling the same, but also reassuring that there are others that echo my feelings.

My section incision is really painful today however the midwife removed the dressing today and everything looks ok. Although I can pee ok, it feels like a dragging sensation inside when I pass water, do you reckon that’s to do with the section?

Eryr22 · 23/11/2022 20:59

Another one struggling with breastfeeding here 🥺 she's been pretty much formula fed with 1 x expressed milk a day and 1 x breastfeed. My nipples were so sore and cracked last week! My breast milk looked like strawberry milkshake from the blood! They said she's got a tongue tie and recommended getting it snipped but it looks nowhere near as bad as the photos I've seen online and the today I breastfed with no pain!! I'm wondering if maybe my boobs just needed time to heal/ her tongue tie is improving as she grows? Very torn!

Eryr22 · 23/11/2022 21:00

I meant to say pretty much formula fed with 1 x expressed milk and 1 x breastfeed a day for the last week, she's 12 days old now!

Anna783426 · 23/11/2022 22:48

We're five weeks in now and I've had a few phantom kicks today - very strange feeling!

I'd also forgotten how hard breastfeeding is, we're getting there and she's gaining weight well but my word it is relentless, she's cluster feeding like a demin. Definitely starting to resent the freedom my husband has to just take a shower whenever he wants

Hope everyone doing ok, just caught up and lovely to see all the babies arriving

Grgs · 24/11/2022 07:05

My little man arrived on 17/11/2022 by emergency c section. FTM so just trying to recover and enjoy our little newborn bubble as much as possible at the moment. Congratulations everyone who has had their bubbas 😊
