Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OtiMama · 15/11/2022 14:20

Congratulations to everyone with their newborns! Sorry I haven't been keeping up, I hope you are all doing ok.

@tb4122 the amount the head engages can change all the time. They can go from very little to born or be engaged for weeks then not. I have had this on and off pressure a lot too.

Had reflexology yesterday, it was amazing and I felt so light afterwards. Was fascinating what she could say about my body/baby without me telling her. I have midwife today and I'm having a sweep, I'm not at my due date yet so not expecting much but will be interested to see if there is anything happening. I then have a final growth scan tomorrow morning. Have still been having cramps quite a lot at night but just fed up of them now. We've all got a cold and my toddler isn't himself, so hoping we can shift this before baby arrives.

tb4122 · 15/11/2022 15:20

@OtiMama, thank you, I thought they sort of made their way down and stayed there! That's encouraging then, I was thinking we must be still way off if he was only 2/5 engaged and seeming to be staying there.

CurlyNo2 · 15/11/2022 16:41

Hope everyone is well, the thread feels quite quiet at the moment.

How many of us are still waiting for our babies to arrive?

40+6 here and still waiting!!! I'm so exhausted. Induction is booked for Monday if I haven't popped by then but I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow and am tempted to ask if they can just bring it forward to Friday...not sure how willing they'll be but worth a shot I guess. They've offered me a sweep but in all honesty I doubt it'll be effective if "having lots of sex" (as instructed by the MW) hasn't made any difference 😆

greenerfingers · 15/11/2022 16:59

I've decided to try and stay off of pregnancy apps for the next week or so @CurlyNo2. I can't do it anymore mentally with the constant mucus plug coming out but no other signs. I feel like I'm setting myself up for disappointment everyday as I still have 2 weeks till due date let alone if I go over. I need to mentally switch off from being pregnant as it's so miserable now 😭

FishyBaby · 15/11/2022 17:15

I'm still here and waiting @CurlyNo2 . I'm at 39+4, so I know i still could have some time to wait, but at the same time everyone I know (2 friends and my NCT group) have all gone before this point!

I'm wavering between wanting her to get a move on and panicking and hoping she stays put for longer!

smiles39 · 15/11/2022 17:55

It’s definitely getting quieter now loads of babies have arrived!

I’m waiting, 39 weeks today. Feeling like I cannot handle waiting another 5 minutes let alone potentially 3 weeks. This is torture, just want to meet my bubba 🥹 don’t know what I’ll do if I’m overdue haha.

VolcanicProtectorMan · 15/11/2022 18:08

I’m still waiting too. 39+2 and have been having loads of Braxton Hicks, dodgy stomach the past few days and feeling ‘off’ today, nauseous and dizzy/faint at times. I’m just reading into everything though. Think I’m more stressed this time as my parents need to watch my 3yo for us and they’re two hours away.

OtiMama · 15/11/2022 18:28

Had a sweep, I could definitely feel the motion of her sweeping around the babies head. She said I am around 2cm dilated, the cervix just needs to shorten which will happen if baby head moves down a bit more. Just waiting to see really, have felt quite a few bits of cramping since then. I did ask her to give me a fairly rough decent sweep if she could! All these cramps have been doing a bit then which is a relief that it isnt been for nothing. Although I also know from last time 2cm dilated can not mean an awful lot and baby could still be days off.

All this being said, my husband isn't well and is feeling very sorry for himself, so based on that will be interesting if baby wants to make an appearance in the next day or so!

I know what you all mean, I have 3 friends all due around the same time and not long before me, none of them went to term. On these groups where your due date is later in the month, it can feel like you're waiting ages esp if baby goes over the date. Gotta keep positive and get that oxytocin flowing guys (easier said than done I know!!)

blacksheep2014 · 15/11/2022 19:58

Oh my word ladies. I'm due on 24th. Dropped off the list a few weeks ago but too shy to post again. A problem my incoming son doesn't appear to have.

Crampy and sore in a way I haven't been over the weekend, bloody show at 9pm or there abouts last night and since then contractions every 5 minutes without fail therefore sleepless night.

Fair distance to the hospital so went at around 11am, contractions 45 secs long every 5 mins. 1 to 2 cm. Labour has started but could be a while so gave me the option to be admitted but I declined. Been home since, jeezo. This is not for the fient hearted. Yes... Ftm 😂

curlywurly10 · 15/11/2022 20:01

Hope everyone is well and congratulations to everyone who has had their babies🥳 very exciting that there's so many babies here already🥹

That's exact how i'm feeling too, i'm SO fed up and just want my baby to come out already. I went for a check up today and she offered me a sweep that i quickly agreed to hoping it means things will go faster but the earliest they can get me in is 40+5😑, i am praying to god something happens before then!!! not sure how i'll make it to my due date never mind any later. I know it's not too long now but i feel like 💩 and everyday seems to be dragging on. Everything seems to be making me extremely emotional right now but i'm trying to keep my spirits high! counting down the days.
sorry for the little rant

rickandmorts · 15/11/2022 22:59

Rant away because I'm exactly the same! It's a really strange feeling waiting for something that I have no idea what I'm actually waiting for so I'm feeling a little tense and I know my partner is getting a bit twitchy because he's because nervous about the birth. I swing between feeling like I'm not ready at all or that I'm just done with pregnancy now and want it over with. Been in bed feeling sick with a headache all day but don't think it's anything labour related!

Oh and already had texts off people asking if I've had the baby yet. I'm not due til the 30th and could potentially go to the 13th December so could have another 4 weeks of this FFS

rickandmorts · 15/11/2022 23:01

Ignore that second 'because' 🥴

Congratulations on all the new arrivals!!

To those still pregnant i hope your ok as can be! I dont know why people ask if you have had the baby yet most pointless annoying question ever and quickest way to piss a pregnant lady off!

Awww @blacksheep2014 im sorry you dropped off the list

@TFMinx the injections arnt fun i have been getting my husband to do mine as i cant face it, and i dont have problems with needles normally

I realised the birth list has doubled up on numbers! Must remember to sort that when i next update the list!

OP posts:
TFMinx · 16/11/2022 03:21

Thanks @NotAdultingToday they sting so much! I'm now in two minds about getting DH to do them or not as he pointed out I cannot bring myself to the hospital every day. He has a point. I'm up and about after my section, but obviously can't drive, walk very far etc for weeks. This is going to finish me off! 😩

OtiMama · 16/11/2022 07:13

@NotAdultingToday haha yeah like you're going to forget to mention you've had the baby. Or those who message but don't outright ask but you know that's why they are messaging!

@TFMinx I hope you manage to find something that works for you. Going back to the hospital each day does sound like a lot.

I am laughing to myself as I just went to the loo, heard my toddler and resettled him, I thought it was about 4am not nearly 7! He probably thought what the hell is she doing 🤣🤣
My body has no idea. I was awake a large chunk of the night but slept better than I have in days, despite having some sharp cramps all night, they definitely feel different to before and baby has dropped further. Will be interested to see his estimated weight at the scan this morning then hopefully he will make an appearance soon!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 16/11/2022 08:02

@TFMinx I found that going slowly with the needles minimised the sting. I would get all ready, pinch a section on my thigh, hold the needle at 90° resting on the spot. Then I'd look away and slowly push, if it started to sting I'd stop & try a different spot and try again. And I'd go slowly with pressing the plunger too. It was a little sore afterwards but much more manageable like this for me. The one time I asked dh to do it he went quickly and it stung more. Maybe your dh can try a similar technique? It does end, just take it one at a time and see how you go. Even if you manage just 5 or 7 it's better than none, that's what I told myself at the beginning and then I was done. 💜

tb4122 · 16/11/2022 09:20

@OtiMama my "MIL" has taken to phoning DP to ask "how I am". She rings off with "keep us posted" (she's quite loud, I can always hear her if I'm in the same room). I've told DP that actually I do not wish to be keeping anybody posted! I've always been horrified at the idea of lots of people sitting at home wondering how dilated my cervix is or whether I've successfully pushed out a baby. DP, probably quite rightly, says they're only asking out of concern for my welfare but the very pregnant, unreasonable part of me just wants to hide away from everyone and get on with it.

greenerfingers · 16/11/2022 09:52

I've never told anyone my due date for this very reason @tb4122. Just get your husband to nicely and firmly tell her she'll definitely know when it's time... and then go and labour quietly and in privacy x

tb4122 · 16/11/2022 10:16

@greenerfingers I'm wishing we'd vaguely said it was the end of November now...

TFMinx · 16/11/2022 11:26

Sorry @ALittleBitofVitriol I had to skip your reply to me as I started reading and almost vomited - my needle phobia is that bad. I'll try to get DH to read it though, so it won't be wasted. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

tb4122 · 16/11/2022 12:17

@TFMinx would it help you to ask the hospital for some EMLA cream to numb your skin?

greenerfingers · 16/11/2022 13:26

Tbh I told everyone the first week of December vaguely and still got a call today asking if I'm in labour because DH didn't answer his phone (he's at work) 🙄

tb4122 · 16/11/2022 14:22

That's my concern, if we don't answer the phone or reply to a message as we normally would people will start thinking we've gone in. I'm hoping it all kicks off in the middle of the night to be honest so we can just be left in peace!
