CurlyNo2 · 13/11/2022 12:28

Oh how exciting! I had an epidural with my son and it was one of the best decisions I made in his birth.

Im feeling extremely pregnant today, got ankles that are huge. My husband is working today and my 6 year old wants to do things together. I feel so guilty as I don’t even have the energy to get up off the sofa.

Jordmam · 13/11/2022 12:43

40+4 today and still no sign of anything happening. So exhausted I honestly just want to give birth just so I can have some energy again.

TFMinx · 13/11/2022 15:29

I'm 40+4 too @Jordmam

Made the decision to come to a country park which is an hour away from home. DH has taken DS cycling whilst I have a gentle stroll. Managed ten minutes before I had to go back to the car park and sit on a bench!

I've been cramping all day and I think losing my plug. Please let this be something!!

Beanniebaby22 · 13/11/2022 20:04

Baby boy arrived at 15:30 this afternoon. 7lb 1oz. Ended up with a forceps delivery but so glad he’s here now. We are so in love with him 🥰❤️

ALittleBitofVitriol · 13/11/2022 20:50

Congratulations @Beanniebaby22 !! 💙💙💙

CurlyNo2 · 13/11/2022 21:11

Wonderful news @Beanniebaby22, congratulations!

greenerfingers · 13/11/2022 21:28

Congratulations @Beanniebaby22 ! So happy you finally got your little man in your arms.

CurlyNo2 · 14/11/2022 03:56

I swear these nights are getting harder to sleep! 😩

JanuaryBirthdays · 14/11/2022 07:23

Ds3 born yesterday(13/11/22) at 39+0
Waters broke at 530pm on a friend's sofa, got into hospital an hour later, contractions really ramped up quick - as did dilation.
Born at 22:26pm 6lbs 14ozs
Only had time for gas and air, 2 pushes and he was out. I was absolutely terrified of not getting an epidural and I can't believe I did it without in the end!

CurlyNo2 · 14/11/2022 08:29

Congratulations @JanuaryBirthdays that was a quick one!!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 14/11/2022 11:16

Congratulations @JanuaryBirthdays! Welcome to your little man! 💙 Those 3rd births are wild cards 😄 my 3rd was also quick, was in shock for a while I think! Look after yourself and enjoy your little one.

KatieP8 · 14/11/2022 11:22

Congratulations to everyone who's met their baby! It's been lovely to read through the thread. I'm due tomorrow, just about to go in for my sweep in 15 mins. So baby could be making an appearance in the next few days but I'm not holding my breath...I want them to stay in there as long as they want!

I have a horrible haemoirrod- ugh! A bout of diarrhoea last week gave me one. I'm doing all I can to look after it, but I was wondering whether other mamas who've had a vaginal birth with piles found they got any worse? Burst? Or were they insignificant in comparison to the delivery? I know it seems silly to worry, I would just like some idea of what i might be in for??

TFMinx · 14/11/2022 11:51

Well after a very long, hard, traumatic labour she is finally here! Born this morning at 7:19 via emergency section. She is the spitting image of her DB, it's uncanny.

CurlyNo2 · 14/11/2022 12:03

Yay! Congratulations @TFMinx Im sorry to hear it didn’t go to plan.

My c-section date has just come through for 24th (my due date!). The consultant wanted me in from the 17th onwards (this Thursday) when I would be 39 weeks but they’ve just called to say it will be next week now. I’m absolutely gutted. Because of a very traumatic first birth with a lot of complications, I wanted to try and aim for a calm delivery this time, but I just know it won’t work out that way and it will be an emergency section of I go into labour before then.

greenerfingers · 14/11/2022 12:09

Congratulations @JanuaryBirthdays! And congratulations @TFMinx, wishing you a speedy recovery and sorry to hear it didn't go to plan. Try and take it as easy as possible.

I'm wondering the same @KatieP8, I never had any issues with my first but this time they've turned up in the last few weeks and I keep wondering what would happen during delivery 🫣😭.

I'm really struggling mentally this time round, I'm so ready for this baby and have nothing left to do other than hobble around in pain everyday. One downside to a winter babe, if it were Summer I'd stay as busy as possible. I turned 38 weeks today so still ages yet. Not sure how I'll cope with the mood swings more than anything.

@CurlyNo2 sorry to hear they pushed the date back but here's hoping you go past your due date so don't go into labour before then. Can you keep calling back and trying to get in at 39 weeks?

CurlyNo2 · 14/11/2022 17:45

Im sorry to hear you’re struggling @greenerfingers I know what you mean though. I’m really struggling to walk now with the pain I’ve got in my hips and pelvis. The morning school run is a killer and I don’t have anyone else to take my son to school.

I’m gonna give it a couple of days and call them back to see if I’m on a cancellation waiting list. I think because I’d hyped this week up as an ‘end date’ to the pain I’ve got, to be told it’s now not until next week made me so upset. I know baby is in the best place for an extra week and I’m just being selfish.

Beanniebaby22 · 14/11/2022 20:34

Birth date buddy @JanuaryBirthdays 😊 congratulations.
And congratulations @TFMinx ❤️

ALittleBitofVitriol · 14/11/2022 22:25

@TFMinx she's here! 💕Congratulations! Hope you recover well and quickly. How cute she looks like her brother, mine were all little clones of each other 😄

Hang in there @greenerfingers and @CurlyNo2, it's a matter of hours and days now, not weeks or months. I hope you get some rest and relief today. 💚

Today my baby is 12 days old. Took off the last of the steri strips from the caesar scar and finished my last blood thinner injection yesterday. It feels final, like the birth stuff is finally over. Scar is a pretty decent size but seems to be healing well. It's really nice to start to feel like my old self again, have to be careful not to overdo it. Baby K has been sleeping pretty well the last few nights, and I was able to express 20ml of milk yesterday (just with a basic hand pump). I've been starving all the time. He is just so so lovely 💙

TFMinx · 15/11/2022 01:16

I hadn't realised I'd need blood thinner injections for ten days after my emergency section @ALittleBitofVitriol and as a severe needle phobe, that was exactly what I needed to hear! 😩 There's absolutely no way I could have them at home, so I'm going to come to the hospital (once discharged) every day to have it done. Birth is so glamorous!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 15/11/2022 02:01

Oh dear @TFMinx! Yeah it surprised me too, I'm 40+mins from the hospital though so I just had to suck it up lol, but needles don't particularly bother me. Are you staying in hospital for a few days? I wonder if you could negotiate some sort of alternative (like daily aspirin?), or just discuss the risks and decide if you want to decline the rest after you're home? I really don't know, but I do wish they'd told me about it earlier so I could have time to think it all through! Either way 10 days goes pretty quickly and you have a sweet baby for consolation!
I hope you're doing okay, caesar is no joke! Birth is brutal anyway it happens but it's already starting to fade to rosy in my mind 😳

roobearbaby · 15/11/2022 05:28

Well. Baby made his appearance yesterday 14th November at 22:15 in quite dramatic fashion (that's a story for another day) on his due date ❤️

He is feeding well and currently napping in his cot at the hospital.

I am 100% in love and would do it all over again just to feel that feeling of him being put on my chest for the first time.

greenerfingers · 15/11/2022 06:02

Thanks @ALittleBitofVitriol. It's crazy how time works, when you say you're almost 2 weeks post partum I think oh wow that flew! Can't believe your little man is already 12 days. When you tell me I have at least 2 weeks left it feels like a never ending age. Hope you have a smooth recovery and try to take it easy so as not to irritate the wound. My friend got a little too excited a few weeks post surgery and bent too quick and hurt her scar.

Sorry to hear @TFMinx, definitely discuss other options. Aspirin is one and so is warfarin. I recall a family member being given them instead of the injections.

Congratulations @roobearbaby ! Finally you can enjoy the cuddles 🥰

TFMinx · 15/11/2022 06:06

Apparently aspirin isn't strong enough in this instance. I've asked twice 🤷‍♀️

ALittleBitofVitriol · 15/11/2022 06:29

Ah @roobearbaby! Congratulations! Welcome to the world little man! 💙💙💙

@TFMinx, boo! I hope you're recovering okay and the blood thinner needles aren't too bad for you.

@greenerfingers, haha I know what you mean but those last few days/weeks are hard! it's to trick us into looking forward to labour 😄 I can't believe he's already 12 days old either, still seems surreal to have another baby in the house!

tb4122 · 15/11/2022 09:09

Congratulations to everyone who has had their baby.

When babies engage their head, do they do it gradually or can it be sudden? My last 3 midwife appointments it's been noted his head is 2/5 engaged each time but the last 24 hours my pelvic pain is back and I can hardly walk. Not really feeling much pressure down there from inside though, just feels like my pelvic bones are going to fall apart when I walk. I'm 39+3 today.
