Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
amyrose223 · 05/11/2022 11:00

@Bubblegum20 my induction took 3 days, they tell you it can take a few days to get started and I was hoping the same that it wouldn't take long, but once you get going it goes quick, good luck❤️

Bubblegum20 · 05/11/2022 11:15

@amyrose223 was you allowed to have a little walk around the hospital while you was being induced or not really? Not really sure what to expect don't know if you're expected to just lay in your bed while you're being induced! Glad that once it got going it went quickly for you!

amyrose223 · 05/11/2022 11:26

@Bubblegum20 yeah your allowed! Mine told me to get up and get moving once I had the pessary so I was walking up and down the stairs, the pessary stays in for 24 hours but mine fell out 2 hours before it was due to come out, I then had the gel and that started my contractions even more than the pessary, I was contracting but not dilating, but the next morning I was 2cm and my waters starting going on there own and that's when I was taken down to the birthing suit, I then had the hormone drip put in which for me started labour too quickly, I did express my concerns of not really wanting it but when I was on the birthing suit they said I had to have it as it's part of the induction, from 2cm-4 within an hour ish on my own and then I was ready to push 2 hours after and then baby was born, if you have any questions I don't mind answering from my own experience! Xx

Bramblecrumble22 · 05/11/2022 11:36

Due date according to my last period is today. And I had text book periods. Officially, according to the scan it's tommorrow. Either way, dispite getting excited about niggles, nothing is happening. Leggings are okay for me, over the bump pants starting to dig in. A week or so ago I started up doing ringfit on the switch. I haven't all pregnancy but I have been doing squats so I'm working on those. Plus a hip shake move really helps when baby is in an uncomfortable position.

Eryr22 · 05/11/2022 12:27

Congratulations @Somethingabitdifferent22 what an amazing labour too... very jealous!!

I'm 4 days overdue now! 😫 having another membrane sweep Tuesday. I'm going to take all the sweeps I can get because I also don't like the sound of being induced!

Slept AWFULLY last night. I swear I could feel the baby moving downwards. Weirdest feeling ever. Went on for hours!

And yes to none of my clothes fitting me! I'm not even bothering with knickers around the house now! Baggy t-shirts and some of my husbands very old, lose boxers!

Eryr22 · 05/11/2022 12:28

Loose!*

roobearbaby · 05/11/2022 13:46

OMG my husbands boxers have been an absolute game changer the last few weeks!

TFMinx · 05/11/2022 14:06

I've been wearing my DH's T-shirts and boxers for bed for months now - so much more comfortable! Just been to a children's party, so many people asking when I'm due and saying, "Come on, baby!" I had a really strong urge to get the bag in the car today (it's been sitting next to the front door for ages) weirdly my DH felt the same, so I'm hoping we've tuned into something and it'll be happening soon. Please, please let it be soon!

greenerfingers · 05/11/2022 15:51

Oh @TFMinx I really feel for you 🤣. I hope baby comes soon! You're giving me flashbacks of my first and constantly having that feeling of come now pls!!!

Party went really well @NotAdultingToday thanks for asking. Sooo glad I've got it over with. Now I'm just focussed on baby and sorting this procedure out. Once that's sorted I feel like I can finally relax and 'enjoy' the last few weeks with my son and focus on a new baby joining us. I'm pretty much ready now. House is done, car is done. Baby seats in the boot. Hospital bag in the boot.

roobearbaby · 05/11/2022 16:00

Ladies, I'm after some advice. My hubby and I have done a hypnobirthing course because I really like the idea of going into birth with a positive mental attitude and I really like the concept of positive affirmations etc etc

My MIL however keeps talking to me with negative connotations, i.e. you must be getting nervous now or are you worried?

I know she means well but it really really isn't helping me as it keeps making me think I should be worried or nervous when in reality I've been spending everyday doing this course and actually felt excited about giving birth. How do I approach the subject with her??

I should point out that she is a VERY sensitive person and doesn't take any form of criticism/discussions well at all!!

I know this is beyond minor in the grand scheme of things but she is messing with my vibe 🤣🤣🤣

TFMinx · 05/11/2022 17:26

Thing is though @greenerfingers this is my second! DS was early so this whole creeping to 40 weeks is a new experience for me 😆

greenerfingers · 05/11/2022 18:51

@TFMinx haha well the thing is he was meant to come at 37 weeks! So everyday after that was such an age omg. 40 to me felt like 43. This time again after 37 I think I start to count down which is such a bad idea but I know I'll end up doing it 😅

greenerfingers · 05/11/2022 18:52

@roobearbaby I have this a lot and tell myself shake it off, I literally imagine the words going in one ear and leaving the other then distract myself mentally. Also try avoiding her. Talking to her probably won't help and might exacerbate things.

wibblewobbleball · 05/11/2022 21:06

@roobearbaby I had this with my MIL with my first. I got my DH to speak to her and he asked her very plainly if she thought it was useful to constantly be referring to negative things including if "joking" about birth injuries that would leave me incontinent for life etc was helpful stuff for a mum to be to hear. She soon stopped. She never got on the positive bandwagon to be honest, but I think she's just of a different age, and it was enough for me that she stopped saying negative stuff.

greenerfingers · 05/11/2022 22:39

So happy to say I went to triage to try and find out what's what with my procedure and it was a fairly quiet evening for labour ward, a doctor saw me and said he'd do the procedure as he was free. Was so random and never done on the weekend but I'm not complaining! At home in bed recovering and now just waiting to hit 37 weeks on Monday and can finally faintly finally my pregnancy without stress.

Beanniebaby22 · 05/11/2022 23:14

Ahh that’s good news @greenerfingers glad you finally got sorted 😊

roobearbaby · 05/11/2022 23:37

Thanks @ggreenerfingers @wiwibblewobbleball I'm glad it isn't just me. I will take both bits of advice and let it go in one ear and out the other and speak to hubby!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 06/11/2022 02:56

Wonderful @greenerfingers, good on you! Hope you get some good rest 💜

@roobearbaby can you counter each negative with one of your affirmations? Otherwise, avoid! You need to rest!

Good luck @Bubblegum20!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 06/11/2022 03:08

Thanks @mjb0616 and @NotAdultingToday, no one mentioned blood thinners that I remember. They did 2 injections while I was in hospital and I didn't realise they added a box of pre filled syringes to the pain med script. I rang the ward and they recommend I do them so I guess psyching myself up to self inject is now part of my life. Lol I was a bit surprised by the oxy too but I don't like how it makes me feel very sleepy/non functional, the Tramadol with paracetamol or Ibuprofen is working well.

Little K is doing well, 3 days old now. I'm just waiting/hoping my milk comes in any minute now...

CurlsnLipstick · 06/11/2022 04:57

@greenerfingers that's brilliant. Things have a way of righting themselves. Glad you chased it up.

Been waking up with pain/burning sensation in toes and legs to just below my knees. Usually goes as soon as I begin clenching and unclenching my toes or walk. Normal? Happens at night only.

@ALittleBitofVitriol baby is 3days already. Wow time is sure flying! All the best with self injection. I always get DH to them for me, much easier.

feistymumma · 06/11/2022 05:33

Congratulations to all the new mums. I'm 36+4 and counting down. I am beyond tired now plus have just developed piles which are excruciating. Add on SPD and sciatica in my right leg and things are not looking rosy over here :)

greenerfingers · 06/11/2022 07:55

Thank you ladies! I've still got all the aches and pains but because I mentally feel better I'm not as bothered right now.

Blood thinners are common practice after any surgery now @ALittleBitofVitriol. My doctor told me if I'm active I can leave them as they're precautionary. I made sure to move lol as the self injecting was too much for me and I wore the long socks religiously for weeks after. With a c-section though I think I'd probably force myself to do the injections, better to be safe than sorry with a newborn at hand. And can't believe your little man is already 3 days 🥺.

I think I've developed piles too but no idea what to do, do you just ignore them? I hope it doesn't cause more pain in labour because it's definitely adding more pressure now.

mjb0616 · 06/11/2022 08:10

@greenerfingers I would maybe give the doctors a quick ring as there are some creams they can give you to help relieve them :)

I waited until very late to mention what I thought was piles to midwife and having seen doctor and had exam it turns out more likely I have ulcerative colitis 😢 and at this late stage having testing and referral now comes after baby is born so wish I had gone sooner!

Hopefully yours will be more straightforward!

Eryr22 · 06/11/2022 09:01

Urgh I'm in a similar position to @roobearbaby now and don't know what to do!!
I have a "friend"? It's a cousin's wife I've never met who is messaging me constantly. I started to ignore them but I've had 3 messages in 2 days now asking how I'm doing. Whenever I tell her that things aren't progressing she's very "I told you not to get a sweep. They don't work". "Go and get some acupuncture. Eat some pineapple, curb walk" etc. 😫
Should I just be blunt and tell her I'm not talking about it until the baby is here? I remember when she was pregnant recently and I didn't dare ask her how she was doing once she went overdue because she'd given me her thoughts on people who do that!! But now she's doing it to me, only worse! I don't mind people asking how I'm doing and sending love, but I don't want peoples opinions crammed down my throat!!
5 days overdue now 😫

greenerfingers · 06/11/2022 09:11

Thank you @mjb0616 I'll do that tomorrow. I hope you get better soon Flowers
