Thank you for the well wishes everyone 💜

Oh how wonderful… lots of beautiful new babies being born!

Im 37 weeks today. Have a midwife appointment this morning and then consultant appointment and growth scan tomorrow.

I woke up this morning with the realisation that I just don’t feel ready for a new baby just yet, I feel like I have so much I want to do with my son before he is no longer an only child. Did anyone else get nerves going from one to two children just before their due date? I suppose it’s normal to feel this way, but it just hit me that this is going to change his life and I don’t know which way it’s going to go!

Feb85 · 03/11/2022 10:47

Congratulations @ALittleBitofVitriol hope you & baby are doing well x

So currently waiting in the hospital to start my induction feeling so excited to meet our little girl 😊 but also so nervous it’s hard to believe the day is here x

roobearbaby · 03/11/2022 11:09

Congratulations @littlebitofvitrol and good luck to induction mummas today. Thinking of you all ❤️.

I need some motivation. I've got pikes of washing to do but I cant bring myself to get off my sofa 🤣

Beanniebaby22 · 03/11/2022 12:36

@ALittleBitofVitriol @Dontbeaneejit congratulations Mamas, well done 😊❤️

greenerfingers · 03/11/2022 12:36

Congratulations @ALittleBitofVitriol, so happy for you and happy to hear your surgery went well.

I'm sat here so annoyed, I was meant to get a call at 9 to prep me for my op today and what time it is, nothing at all. I've been calling all morning, just called again and they keep saying they'll call me back. It's been 3 hours and I wonder now whether they made me arrange childcare, husband take a day off work etc all for nothing. Argh!

CurlsnLipstick · 03/11/2022 13:46

Oh this is so lovely! Congratulations @ALittleBitofVitriol!!

@greenerfingers that's really annoying. I hope they do call you at some point today. All the best!!

@Feb85 all the best with the induction.

Wow! I think we're having a baby a day in the group? This is amazing. 🎉🎉🎉

I've began losing my mucus plug, it's clear. Never had this home at home. I've always been in hospital when I do. Do things usually progress fast from here?

CurlsnLipstick · 03/11/2022 13:50

*begun 😅for the pedants

greenerfingers · 03/11/2022 13:56

What an absolute shit show, they just rang me cancelling. Total and utter waste of everyone's time and husband's holiday leave. I was trying to save the days for post baby.

Sorry @CurlsnLipstick I've never lost my mucus plus or remember doing so. I've read for some people it usually starts off a few days later and others it can be weeks 😬. Everyone reacts different to losing it.

Eryr22 · 03/11/2022 14:21

Been MIA the last few days sorry.

Firstly congratulations to everybody whose beautiful babies have arrived ❤️

@greenerfingers was this your caesarean they have cancelled?! Did they give a reason why/ give you a new date?

I had a membrane sweep Tuesday. Contractions started 2 hours later and lasted 10 hours, then completely stopped. Wednesday morning started to lose my mucus plug. Had a few more contractions Wednesday evening. Last night/early hours I had the most painful contractions but they only lasted 1 hour. Lost what I think must have been ALL of my mucus plug this morning! Nothing has happened since...

I'm assuming this is a very long, drawn out latent phase 😞 I was 3cm dilated at my sweep on Tuesday. Midwife was adamant I was going to have the baby that night. Just feeling a bit deflated now!

CurlsnLipstick · 03/11/2022 14:40

I'm so sorry to hear that @greenerfingers how frustrating!! Trying to synchronise everything/one again isn't easy. Hopefully tomorrow?
I guess you're right, it'll just be a wait and see game like the rest of everything at this stage. Hyper aware of every twinge now.

Aww @Eryr22, I can't imagine going through that. The constant adrenaline. 3cm is amazing!! Don't feel too deflated, baby is still baking and will be here before you know it. We probably won't remember this phase in a couple months. 😊

Isabellaadams · 03/11/2022 16:49

Hi everyone,

My name is Bella and I am currently completing my Masters in 'Integrative Psychotherapy for Children, Adolescents and their Families' at the University of Roehampton, in order to qualify as a child psychotherapist in three years. I have extensive experience working with children and nannying (particularly in the SW London area).

As part of my first-year studies, I am required to observe a mother and baby from less than 3 months old, in a home setting, an hour a week, for 20 weeks. This is in order for me to observe and study infant development and the relationship with their caregiver.

If this sounds like something you (or anyone else you may know) might be interested in doing please do let me know – I’d be very very appreciative. Thank you!

greenerfingers · 03/11/2022 17:01

Ahh a long latent phase is frustrating @Eryr22. If it's possible try to ignore anymore contractions now till they're totally unignorable or you could. E like this for days. My sister has 2 weeks of latent phase, contractions for 2/3 days then nothing, it's so frustrating for her.

And no it wasn't a c-section but a cervical operation which needs to happen by 37 weeks. The longer I leave it the more dangerous it is for me and baby, the consultant in a rather blasé tone said well worst comes to worst we can take you to theatre and have an emergency delivery. As if I'm just some medical procedure and my mental state doesn't count for anything. Their reasoning was that they were understaffed and would call me back, but the frustrating part wasn't they cancelled but the lack of communication. 17 calls, 5 hours of being told someone will ring you, and finally I got told it's cancelled.

@CurlsnLipstick good luck! Hope it's not long left now for you. I've been losing my plug (I think but never know with pregnancy). Every day or two days I get random brown discharge, it's not much say or gloppy though but the way it's been happening the last week makes me wonder if this is the mucus plug very slowly coming out.

Beanniebaby22 · 03/11/2022 18:42

All this pressure on my bladder is doing my head in 😩 constantly feel like I need to pee. 38 weeks tomorrow!

It’s so uncomfortable walking any kind of distance now, end up with pains in my belly and back and it sometimes feels like he’s about to fall out of me 😳

Hope all that means the head is engaging and I don’t have too much longer to go!

Also seem to be having a similar bowel "clear out” like some others have mentioned.

Eryr22 · 03/11/2022 19:24

@greenerfingers That's very good advice. I've been having period pains on and off for a month and initially thought they were contractions. I learnt to ignore those and I think you're right, I need to ignore this too! Much harder because they're sooo painful. 40+3 tomorrow so I'm praying it's not much longer.

Also, that is shocking communication from the hospital in terms of not ringing you and what the consultant said! As if an emergency c section isn't a terrifying thought for most people... I know how you feel with the leave, my husband only has 10 days to take so we're saving it for once the baby is here but it's tricky with all of these contractions we've been having to know whether he should go to work or not!

It could definitely be the start of your mucus plug. Or old blood from some of the fragile blood vessels in your cervix breaking as you dilate slightly. I've been getting a lot of that the last 2-3 days.

CurlsnLipstick · 03/11/2022 20:02

Thank @greenerfingers, I hope it's a positive sign of things to come. I feel like I've only had it because of the sweep.

The communication from the hospital is disgraceful. Honestly, I'm sure they had an inkling it wouldn't happen today. Even if they said it would be tentative, at least you'd know it might not go through. I hope it gets rearranged soon for you 🙏

greenerfingers · 04/11/2022 02:39

Up again with bad rectal pain. Had it for days now getting worse. Really hope this isn't labour starting. It's my sons birthday party today and I haven't had that procedure. I'm so tense 😩

TFMinx · 04/11/2022 02:42

Fingers crossed it isn’t @greenerfingers

I’m awake after the silliest but most awful dream. I woke up in a sweat. Now I’m wondering if today will be the day or if I’m destined to go the distance 😩

greenerfingers · 04/11/2022 03:03

Oh bless you @TFMinx! You're at the stage where I would just cry last pregnancy and I hadn't even hit term but I've always been an impatient sod. I hope baby comes soon for you and today is the day 💪

OtiMama · 04/11/2022 03:59

@ALittleBitofVitriol congratulations, I am glad everything went well for you.

@greenerfingers sorry about the cancellation, all sounds like a total nightmare and so stressful for you when you don't need it. I get that they do c-secs all the time so are probably quite relaxed about them but at the end of the day for the mother it is a big deal and they shouldnt be like ah well we havent bothered but never mind you can just have one. Makes you sound like a robot. I hope the pains have stopped and you've managed to go back to sleep.

@Eryr22 sounds like things are frustrating but moving for you, hope it won't be too long until baby is here.

I'm just awake, thirsty but don't want to drink too much or I will be awake and peeing even more. Its a constant circle! And now I'm awake I can feel baby moving and a slight discomfort. These awake nights are just never ending, I keep thinking I will be glad to have my body back and sleep better...but then again I will just be awake for another reason haha.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 04/11/2022 04:55

Thank you everyone! Bub & I are doing well. Wow a caesar is no walk in the park 😳 I'm about 16 hours out from surgery and yeah, it feels exactly like if someone cut me open and battered my organs. Thank the good Lord for pain medication! Still, I'm planning/hoping to discharge myself & head home in a couple of hours. The ward is so busy that I can recover and rest MUCH better at home, I feel a bit in the way or forgotten here. I'm not a hospital person at the best of times...
Little K is just the sweetest baby and worth every second.

@greenerfingers wow what a shitshow, doesn't make you feel great and confident I'm sure. I'm so sorry! Hope your son's birthday goes well!

@Eryr22 I agree with the ignore until you can't advice. With my 2nd I was woken up by contractions at 3am everyday for a week before they finally turned into something! When it's time, you'll know, they literally knock you off your feet.

dreamcatchmee · 04/11/2022 06:22

I'm 36+6 today. I am feeling starving hungry all the time?! Anyone else got this? I had to bring a snack to bed last night lol!! It's a fibre cereal bar.
I woke up at 3am and ate it. Now it's 0621 and I'm ravenous again. 😂😂😂

dreamcatchmee · 04/11/2022 06:25

Also a huge congrats mamas! Wonderful news Biscuit

Elle1709 · 04/11/2022 07:03

@ALittleBitofVitriol congratulations 🥰 im really glad your c section went well. I feel like I'm managing my pain well with just the paracetomol. Day 4 now for me so it does get alot better. The worst part was walking the very long walk from the ward to the car park on the day after my surgery. I felt really weak and asked if I could borrow a wheelchair but apparently they don't have any! Seems strange for a hospital/labour ward. My sister couldn't walk for weeks after her birth. Really enjoying the lovely cuddles with my beautiful baby xx

Me!!! After nearly 35 weeks of not having any appetite I am waking up in the middle of the night to cook whole meals :)
