My arm does seem to be improving slightly over the day, although still painful, thank you.

I worked at the hospital where my birth centre is so I never viewed it, but mine has 4 rooms and I got one last time despite only giving them around 3 hours of indication that I was even in labour and rocked up at 10cm needing a room straight away. I hope to get a room again this time!

CurlyNo2 · 30/10/2022 21:02

Hope everyone is ok. We are one day closer to meeting our babes!

I don’t think the UTI that I was given antibiotics for by the hospital the other week has totally gone away so may give MAU a call tomorrow to see if I can drop a urine sample off to be tested in case I need a further course.

I have also got really bad pain in my pubic area, I’m not sure who mentioned that above as can’t see that far back. Maybe it’s the sheer weight of the baby pushing down.

I think I may have managed to find a comfy position to sleep in (only took me 9months!!!). Last night I only woke up once to change position. I’ve now taken to sleeping propped up with about 5 pillows but laying slightly to my side hugging a pillow. I don’t know if it’s recommended but if it means I get some sleep, I’m taking it!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 30/10/2022 21:37

Glad you got some more sleep @CurlyNo2!

Ouch @VolcanicProtectorMan, that's just not fair! Hope it clears up quickly.

I had my 2nd in the birth centre and it was wonderful, lovely atmosphere. I would've had my first there too but ended up transferred out for induction. I didn't have an epi or anything though and so they let me transfer back in after she was born, instead of going to the standard maternity ward.

3 more sleeps til my c/s! I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon & will pick up any last things I need - I want some comfortable slip on shoes and a couple more maternity singlets/vests.

TFMinx · 30/10/2022 21:39

@Bubblegum20 I know exactly what you mean. I'm 38+4 today, which is what I was when DS was born. Seems mad that I'll be going beyond this as I've had loads of braxton hicks and back ache; I didn't have this before so it's all new to me this time around.
Going to really start on my ball tomorrow as I'd love for this baby to be here soon!

greenerfingers · 30/10/2022 21:54

Glad you're getting some relief @VolcanicProtectorMan, hope it totally eases up soon.

Congratulations on finishing work @OtiMama, I put all my work things away for a few months and it feels amazing as I often work from home and things are everywhere.

We have the same sleeping position @CurlyNo2 😂. I prop up then side sleep hugging my pregnancy pillow. It allows me to breathe better but my rib still hurts that way. I'll take that though as it means I get a few hours sleep in a row.

You've just reminded me about hiring a tens machine @tb4122 thanks for that! I didn't try it last time and had a back to back labour, I wonder if it'll help this time.

I'm happy to say I have a really busy week this week and will keep me distracted from watching the clock. I'm waiting till 37 weeks and want to then start properly on my ball and eating dates, perineal massage etc. 36 weeks today which is exciting. My last milestone to hit (I'm always at risk of premature babies so every milestone is huge and I can't believe I'm at the last one!)

Elle1709 · 31/10/2022 07:05

@ALittleBitofVitriol I have my c section tomorrow, im starting to feel really nervous now! How are you feeling? I think I've packed everything just going to sort my snack bag out today as I've been told the hospital food isn't great.

Had my pre op appointment yesterday which was all fine, just made it feel all very real and close. Its my first baby so i have no idea what to expect. Trying to remain calm!

Kathno4 · 31/10/2022 08:55

@Elle1709 best of luck 🤞
my induction starts tonight so we may well have our babies on the same day 🥰

ALittleBitofVitriol · 31/10/2022 09:29

@Elle1709 how exciting, I'm sure it will all go perfectly! You'll have your baby in your arms so soon! 💜💜💜 I've never had a csection either, so many people have given me heaps of good advice. I'm not feeling nervous just yet, I just can't wait! 😄 I also had my last appointment today, did a heartbeat monitor (all good), quick ultrasound - still very breech but fluid levels improved from 6 days ago! It was a very quick appointment actually, but that's fine because I asked all my questions in the last appointment. I do have to go & do a blood test the day before. We picked up a couple of snacks for the hospital bag today too.

Exciting for you too @Kathno4! Hope it goes beautifully for you!

Bubblegum20 · 31/10/2022 11:59

@TFMinx fingers crossed we both don't have too much longer to wait now until our babies are here, I think it's harder second time waiting, first time I didn't know what to expect at all, this time I think I have more of a clue what to look out for, but it hasn't stopped me looking into everything way too much 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Elle1709 good luck for your csection tomorrow, how exciting, really not long at all now for you! Hope you manage to get some sleep tonight!

@Kathno4 best of luck with your induction tonight, hopefully it doesn't take too long to get things going for you 🤞🏼

CurlyNo2 · 31/10/2022 12:04

Best of luck ladies, come back and let us know how you’re getting on.

I’ve been back to the hospital this morning to have my urine checked as I started to get UTI symptoms again despite finishing antibiotics last week. Urine didn’t show anything really so they’ve sent it away for analysis.

Also baby has gone from 3/5 engaged to free.

TFMinx · 31/10/2022 12:14

Had my 38 week midwife appointment today, she measured my bump and it has not grown as they would like so I'm going for a growth scan within the next couple of days. She believes that it's because baby has moved into the pelvis and not because she isn't growing, but better to be checking than not.
If it turns out that baby hasn't grown as much as they would like then I will have to be induced, which I would very much rather not have. 🤞 she has grown!

Bramblecrumble22 · 31/10/2022 12:22

@CurlyNo2 I love that 2 year old age too. A while ago I was really looking forward to breastfeeding. Now I'm thinking I'm looking forward to breastfeeding an older baby more than a newborn. Time when I could fix everything with boobie.

On Saturday I didn't feel much movement so called the labour ward and they said to come in and I had CGT monitoring. Before calling a tried things that normally get the baby moving, lying down after eating and music. Felt maybe one gentle movement in an hour and a half. After calling a friend to put my daughter to bed so my DH could take me the half hour drive there, baby moved as we were leaving home and had 3 big fetal movements. Then, when the midwife touched my abdomen baby moved in response and towards the end of the monitoring started attacking the equipment. Heart rate was 147 with no quiet time. Got another scan this afternoon. I thought it was tommorrow because my obstetrics appointment for the results is.

FishyBaby · 31/10/2022 18:44

Ok. Im not panicking in the slightest. Ok. I'm panicking a bit. Please forgive me it my first!

I've been feeling off all day, like I've had an upset stomach, except I haven't. Baby has also been super active. I've just been sat on the sofa with my DH and had a realisation that it's a bit like cramps, except quite high up on my bump relative to period cramps.

I haven't had any Braxton Hicks that I'm aware of, so could this be those or really early labour?

I don't feel ready yet - Im still meant to be at work this week!

greenerfingers · 31/10/2022 18:50

How exciting @Kathno4 and @Elle1709. Hope it all goes well!

@CurlyNo2 perhaps ask for a thrush swab, I had no uti last time but it was a really annoying case of thrush which took 3 samples to manifest and culturing it for longer than usual. Treated it and off it went. Was strange as I got uti symptoms.

@FishyBaby when are you due? I'd take a few deep breaths and try to see if there's a definite rhythm to the tightening feeling. It could be braxton hicks but if it intensifies then definitely time them and get checked out. If you haven't already I'd get a bag packed asap and just leave it ready (even if labour isn't for weeks yet, better safe than sorry!)

FishyBaby · 31/10/2022 18:54

@greenerfingers not due until 18th, but I am 37+3 so it's not unfeasible. Our bags are mostly packed - although I do need to add clothes/pjs. I'll get some sorted in case they are needed - I just don't quite have enough comfy clothes that I can leave it packed full time!

They are definitely not regular yet, so will keep an eye on it and see.

greenerfingers · 31/10/2022 18:56

Ahh ok then in that case @FishyBaby I'd be vigilant. Mind you I had similar and they fizzled out, he didn't come for another 2 weeks.

I've got the same issue about not enough comfy clothes fitting right now so I have everything packed except my own clothes. I'm in two minds whether to just buy some more or wait it out as I know I'll lost something at least once baby exits.

I had a vaginal swab done 2 weeks ago at the hospital and it came back clear. Maybe it’s just the pressure of a gigantic baby that’s causing the pressure down below. Walking is a real struggle.

Eryr22 · 31/10/2022 22:09

I'm struggling to keep up with the thread because all I do is nest, sleep and repeat! But just wanted to pop on to say good luck to @Elle1709 tomorrow! X

Kathno4 · 31/10/2022 22:11

Hey all, so I’m on the ward, they weren’t happy starting induction as it’s super busy. But wanted to keep me in so I don’t loose the induction slot. I’ve had a ‘good sweep’ 😱 and as of a few hours ago I’m only 2cm 50% effecated . All being well I’ll be started off early in the morning…. So November baby 🥰
feeling so bad for the lady next to me, she’s 7cm on the gas and air really going through it 😩
ive been so anxious and sick all day, now I’m here I’ve settled a lot and hope for another night sleep before we try again tomorrow 👶

Feb85 · 31/10/2022 22:12

detachablehoof · 31/10/2022 22:54

Hello all, been lurking on this thread all along but don't think I have ever posted.
Baby #2 is due on Friday and I have a flu vaccination booked for Thursday... husband is worried I may suffer side effects which could potentially overlap with labour.
I am keen to have the vaccination and would rather have side effects when pregnant than with a newborn ... but equally don't want to go into labour with flu symptoms (or even a sore arm tbh!)
Thoughts ladies....?

CurlsnLipstick · 31/10/2022 22:55

Ooooh @Kathno4 and @Elle1709!!! I'm so excited for you both. Wishing you all the very best and quick recovery after.

Haven't been feeling too well. BP has been low and fatigue. Had an antenatal appointment and they're keen on inducing me. I've been hesitant but after the week I've had might just give in. Had a couple of serious Brixton hicks tonight and managed to finally pack the bags.

Read the thread and would love to wish you all good health! I know most of us are struggling in one way or the other. It's not easy but wishing you all good health.

In a couple hours it's officially November! Never thought it'd come but here we are!

CurlsnLipstick · 31/10/2022 23:04

@detachablehoof welcome aboard! Didn't want to read and run lol. I'm with your husband on this. Given how unpredictable labour and delivery can be... wouldn't want a third factor at play.

At the same time, ikwym about a flu with a newborn. It's not easy.

greenerfingers · 31/10/2022 23:35

Sorry to hear that @CurlsnLipstick. Hope your BP picks up and you feel better. Also hope the braxton hicks turn into the real deal!

@detachablehoof I'd definitely risk having a flu with a newborn than getting the vaccine just before labour. The body is already going through so much, and what are the chances you'd get the flu post delivery? Everyone's different but I haven't had the flu for years, the risk wouldn't be worth it to me as I need all the energy I can get during labour and first few days post baby.

Yay to November finally arriving! Back in July I used to sit and think how far it is and when will it finally come! Can't wait to be able to say we're in our birth month now (me just about as I'm the 28th 😅).
