Bramblecrumble22 · 27/10/2022 16:11

@OtiMama out birth center has just three rooms. It's attached to the labour ward that has about 10-13. Serves a large population, with my DD I had to wait in antenatal for a labour ward room. I have my next scan on Tuesday 39+2 if I haven't given birth yet.

I'm been trying to do labour symptom spotting. For a week or so I feel hopeful in the evening when bump is low and I'm feeling crampy with back pain and have some pins and needles around my pelvis bone. Then, I'm disappointed that I've woken up feeling well and rested and not gone into labour overnight.🤣 I'm also disappointed when I do a normal poo. Went for an hour walk today, felt painful on left of my bump, which is where I first felt contractions last time. Then, after going for a wee and resting, nothing.

1mel90 · 27/10/2022 16:27

Had first sweep today, another booked for Saturday then be induced Tuesday, first time mum so haven’t a clue what to expect hopefully something will get going after the sweeps, any tips of anyone be greatly appreciated lol!

Eryr22 · 27/10/2022 16:45

@1mel90 I've got my fingers crossed for you! 🤞🏻 how did you find it?

1mel90 · 27/10/2022 17:19

@Eryr22 to be honest it was nothing really, didn’t feel any discomfort or anything, was only in seconds - think it’s just the thought of it if you’ve never had it done before.

Eryr22 · 27/10/2022 17:54

@1mel90 ah that's reassuring! Let us know how you get on. Warm bath, some candles and a hot chocolate should be on the agenda tonight!

CurlyNo2 · 27/10/2022 17:56

@LittleJumpingBean Oh how wonderful, congratulations! Hope everything went well.

I ended up falling asleep around 4am them my son had me up at 7am. I feel so guilty as it’s half term and we’ve done nothing as I haven’t got the energy at all.

I’m sorry to hear others are also struggling but it’s also reassuring that I’m not alone. I think I’m gonna try and sleep on the sofa tonight rather than attempt going to bed as I’ll only piss myself off when I wake up in the middle of the night.

My friends keep texting me asking how I am, and I feel crap for telling them how miserable I am. I know I’m so lucky to be in this position after our TFMR last year but these last few weeks are mentally and physically draining.

Dontbeaneejit · 27/10/2022 18:38

Also had my first sweep this afternoon. Midwife said she could feel baby's head and my waters and I'm about 1cm dilated. Really hoping this kicks it all off for us! Might sleep upright bouncing on my ball tonight!

CurlyNo2 · 27/10/2022 18:55

Ooh good luck ladies.. let’s hope we start adding more babies to the list.

I have just cried over dinner as I’m so fed up with being in constant pain. My husband works a 3 hour commute away so I need to get our son up and dressed, entertained all day, make dinner and then ready for bed and bath each day and it’s becoming a real struggle as we get to evening time. He has asked his boss for work closer to hime but there just isn’t any, and we really need the money.

I honestly feel like I’m on the verge of going into labour even though I’m only 36w. I have low back pain, period pains, real pressure low down and all today I’ve had braxton hicks that have stopped me in my tracks especially when I’m walking - I feel very odd!. My anxiety is through the roof. Because the baby is supposed massive, I’m terrified of having a vaginal delivery this time around as my 1st son ended up stuck with shoulder dystocia which resulted in a birth injury (thankfully was all ok after 18months), the consultant has told me that because baby is so much bigger than my son, a c-section is advised.

@1mel90 good luck! I have no tips the sweep didnt work for me!

@CurlyNo2 dont feel too guilty, they wont remember, theres plenty of time to do stuff ones you have give birth and recovered and all the years to come 😊
I keep ending up on the sofa as i have more support and its more comfortable at the moment.
It is hard mentally and physically theres no way around it 🙁 you just feel naff and its so hard when dh is not there to help its really tough. If you go into labour wont they just do the csection straight away?

Im so emotional at the moment im either close to tears or ready to rip someones head off (especially when driving 😂)
in asda today a member of staff tried to get past in a small space there was loads of us squashed in because no one believes in personal space, ds was in the way and i tried to move but bump was in the way and she basically barged past me as if i wasnt moving deliberately. It really upset me and i wish i said something. I think people just assume im fat rather than pregnant 🤦🏼‍♀️🙁

@Dontbeaneejit ooo thats exciting! Good luck to you too!

OP posts:
CurlyNo2 · 27/10/2022 19:21

@NotAdultingToday Im not sure if they’ll do a c-section automatically as when she rang me, she asked what I wanted to do given her advice and outcome of the growth scan. I vaguely told her that based on her advice I’d probably go for c-section regardless. She said we will discuss when I meet on 4th Nov after my next growth scan. My online notes don’t have any of our conversation documented so I’m worried that if I went into labour they wouldn’t take me serious as it’s not in my notes only the original plan which was vaginal delivery if in labour and c-section at 40+1. I think I’m being very hormonal and probably stressing too much.

I’m sorry you’ve had a shit day too. It’s so hard being pregnant with especially when you have another human to keep alive.

NotAdultingToday · 27/10/2022 19:30

@CurlyNo2 thats so annoying they didnt put it in your notes! With all the unknown its hard not stress 🤞🏻 your body is just doing its thing getting ready and youll be able to put it all in writing on the 4th

I dont know why but you saying keeping another human alive tickled me, its so true! Especially if they a hyper child like mine!
Though he did let me nap for about an hour earlier. It was so cute i could hear him playing away all happily (trashed the living room but ill take it 😂)

This is a weird one but does anyone else feel ‘bruised’ on certain areas of their bump? Seems to be the spot where baby kicks the most.

Feb85 · 27/10/2022 21:51

Hi all so this might sound like a silly obvious question but I am starting to get myself worked up over it now. and wondering what other mums do or plan to do. So the temp.outside still seems quite warm for this time of year and I have been keeping an eye on my bedroom room temp and it seems to be around 21-22 at night. I have read the recommended is 16-20 for the room for baby to sleep in which is now stressing me out. Also I was planning to dress baby in a short sleeved vest, bodysuit and swaddle in one cellular blanket at night, is this right do you think or should I swaddle them in more or less blankets. I have a Tommeetippee Gro bag 0-3month 7-13lb 2.5tog but I am slightly afraid of using it as it just looks so big. And again for daytime naps I was thinking the same amount of clothing & blanket but now I’m thinking that is to much for the day as the nights are generally colder. Sorry for the long post but any recommendations/advise would be greatly appreciated as you can probably tell I am having a complete FTM panic.

Dontbeaneejit · 27/10/2022 22:29

@Feb85 that sounds about right to me. Think that's what I'll do. Potentially lay a light blanket over the top of the swaddled one but will judge on the room at the time.

I've just had a bloody show a few hours after my sweep... Didn't have this last time - anyone who can say how long between this and labour in your experience?

Feb85 · 27/10/2022 22:46

@Dontbeaneejit thank you so much for your reply and that’s so reassuring I am on the right track that is really helpful with the light blanket also then if needed.
Sorry I have no advice for you after your sweep or bloody show but it sounds positive and I really hope it means it will be start for you very soon if not tonight x

roobearbaby · 27/10/2022 22:57

Great question about the room temp. We have the gro egg on already and our room temp is still 21-22 overnight which is crazy for this time of year!

TFMinx · 28/10/2022 03:16

So I've woken up absolutely gasping for a can of coke! I haven't had cravings the entire time and now I'm 38+2 I need cola at 3am?! Wtf?! Early labour sign maybe 😉😆

CurlsnLipstick · 28/10/2022 03:33

@TFMinx lol just woke up for a pee as well and thirsty. If you're still craving it by later on, get some sparkling water. Preferably lemon&lime flavoured one. Hits the spot with no aspartame.

I've been having really deep sleep lately. Obviously interrupted for peeing at intervals but it's like my body is preparing.

CurlsnLipstick · 28/10/2022 03:36

By lately, I mean this afternoon and tonight 🤣😅 Had a great nap, thought it was morning when I got up.

greenerfingers · 28/10/2022 04:17

@CurlsnLipstick I've just woken too (well I woke an hour ago but couldn't move my hips from pain!), and yes I'm someone who never naps but I wanted one yesterday and actually had one today. So unlike me, then I slept again before midi night tonight. Normally a nap would give me insomnia. My body is just so fatigued now. @NotAdultingToday I also just caved and said go play child, woke up to little men in my bed 'protecting me' and every toy imaginable scattered all over the floor and downstairs but it was worth it too 😅.

Sorry to hear you're having a rubbish time of it @CurlyNo2, I was having the mum guilt and then told myself to snap out of it. Our kids get so much time and a few weeks downtime won't trouble them. You've got years ahead and even in a few weeks months you can get your sling on and do activities here and there when able. I come from a big family and told myself we all just got on with it with a new sibling and I need some of my mums mentality. (I was trying to carry on my usual toddler routine and my body was hating me for it. Now we've cut down and anything extra we can do again after the baby hopefully). As for the birth trauma so sorry Flowers. It's a real thing and I understand your fears but just because one baby got stuck doesn't mean second will or that it will be just as big a disaster. My friends first got stuck, 3rd degree tear all the way to rectum, haemorrhage and was an emergency C-section with a big baby. Second two also large but straight forward deliveries and no postnatal issues for either mummy or babies. I hope you have a really peaceful, boring, uneventful delivery this time whether that's a C-section or chosen vbac.

@Feb85 this may sound so patronising but it isn't!! I'd just judge each night and open the windows if I felt the room was warm. Meant I'd get fresh air and also less worry of potential eczema from a winter baby. If you feel it's ok at the time for you just tell yourself baby needs one extra layer. 2.5 tog sounds heavy to me but I might be wrong. I plan to swaddle right now and if temps drop then I'd add a pram style blanket on top. Don't forget baby will constantly be waking for feeds etc so you'll have an indication regularly as well as any heat rashes indicating to you too warm.

I hope this is everything starting for you @Dontbeaneejit. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but my friend lost her plug with her second after her first sweep, second sweep nothing, third sweep nothing. Each sweep the midwives had told her how low baby was and how soft her cervix was. Mentally she was so drained by the time her induction came. I'd try to ignore it personally as they can regenerate but somewhere are the back of my head make sure everything is prepped.

CurlyNo2 · 28/10/2022 04:43

Hello night owls!

Thanks @greenerfingers you’re right each pregnancy is different and what happened once, may not happen again.

I slept on sofa again but I think I’ve spent my entire time either on my right or my back, rather than left side. Times like this I wish our sofa was a foot longer 🤣

Somethingabitdifferent22 · 28/10/2022 04:47

@Dontbeaneejit
on my first I had baby the same night after a sweep.. 39+4
on my second I was 40 w exactly and had her two days later after sweep at 40 + 2
im Going in for a sweep at 38+6 this time in a hope it will work 😂 I’m in agony with pelvic pressure.. I called down last night and they told me if it gets to the point I’m struggling to walk they will have me in sooner to assess the situation as baby’s been fully engaged for two eeeks which is normally rare in subsequent babies!

@TFMinx ive been the same for the last two days!! I’ve always been a Pepsi max person but now can’t bare the taste and am craving coke, orange juice and fresh fruit 😂

@Feb85 ita such a weird one isn’t it with the room temp because it just changes daily!
last winter (baby was born 10th nov) I swaddles and had a light blanket over the top in the day… in the nights slept in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag generally with long sleeve vest and bodysuit. I’m assuming will be the same this time. I actually didn’t use the sleeping bags on my first but did my second and found them so so much better than anything else I’d ever used!

is anyone else finding this third trimester insomnia exhausting!!

quater to 4 every day awake!!

NotAdultingToday · 28/10/2022 05:05

Hello wide awake club!

I went and slept on the sofa woke up at 4 to pee missed my bed so got back into bed 😂

I have caught a cold my sinuses are killing me which is what is keeping me awake at the moment. Oh i miss lemsip and sleeping on my front! (Unrelated i know im just thinking of things i miss!)

@greenerfingers that is so cute 😍 these kids are cute when they want to be!

@TFMinx i woke up with my tummy rumbling its weird isnt it?

Waking up is making me so sad 😂 im someone who normally sleeps anywhere anytime and can nap and still sleep at night!

OP posts:
CurlyNo2 · 28/10/2022 05:23

My husband will be leaving for work shortly, so I think I may get back in bed once he leaves.

Sorry to hear you’ve got a cold, let’s hope it passes quickly for you. I really miss sleeping on my front, I can’t wait for the day all sleep restrictions go!!
