It could just be watery discharge as that does increase toward the end. I felt an actual 'pop' and had a small amount come out (which I thought were my waters as it was enough to think I'd wet myself), later as baby was coming the real deal broke and it was a huge gush 😅. If In doubt always get checked

CurlyNo2 · 23/10/2022 15:51

I had to have my water broken by the midwife towards the end of my labour.

I have been feeling the same down there and sometime my pj’s especially at night are damp. I think it’s sweat or watery discharge in my case. But I agree, if you have a jiggle of doubt, ring up and get checked out.

Beanniebaby22 · 23/10/2022 16:05

Thanks @greenerfingers @CurlyNo2

Its so hard to know when you’ve never experienced this before. I’ll see if any more leaks out.

Dontbeaneejit · 23/10/2022 16:17

Mine went in two huge gushes. No mistaking it. Heard the pop and then had to stand in the bath tub for 20 minutes because it kept coming. Then went again when I was in established labour. Second the damp PJ's though. Wondered about that this morning especially as I'm looking for every sign of a show.

GeorgieEm · 23/10/2022 17:29

Hi all. Suffering with intense heartburn! Drinking gaviscon by the bottle! Even water is setting it off! Does anyone have any tips or ideas? Or whether the gp can prescribe anything?
Thanks !

Beanniebaby22 · 23/10/2022 17:32

@GeorgieEm omeprazole helped me. I also was guzzling bottles of Gaviscon. Started taking an omeprazole tablet every morning and no heartburn since. You can buy it or get on prescription

GeorgieEm · 23/10/2022 17:36

@Beanniebaby22 thank you! I'm at the hospital tomorrow for a growth scan and review so think I'll ask for a prescription 👍🏻

Also is anyone else feeling totally wiped out!? This weekend has been the worst. 36 Wks tomorrow. Recently moved into our new house so the past 3 Wks have been full on plus insomnia is very real! That paired with this being my first baby & getting closer, thoughts of birth are totally taking over my mind! x

Beanniebaby22 · 23/10/2022 17:44

Yep totally feeling done in. Can’t wait to finish work on Wednesday.
Yes to Insomnia or when I do sleep having lots of nightmares. Back is aching, can’t get comfortable in bed. Worrying I’ll go into labour early, worrying that we aren’t ready etc….. 🤦🏽‍♀️

curlywurly10 · 23/10/2022 18:13

quick question, has anyone not felt baby kicks in the ribs?? i feel like all the pregnant woman i've spoke to have complained about these kicks to the ribs that are uncomfortable, but i am at 35 weeks and baby has never kicked that much higher than my belly button which is odd to me. im a first time mum so i don't know what to expect and it's got me overthinking a lot😅

GeorgieEm · 23/10/2022 18:17

@curlywurly10 no I've not felt rib kicks either! I do have an anterior placenta though .. & been told baby is head down with legs curled up so mainly get movements middle and left side of my tummy!

curlywurly10 · 23/10/2022 18:28

@GeorgieEm i'm glad it's not just me then, maybe my baby has his legs curled up also then as i also get a lot of movements at the centre and sides of my belly. i'm not too worried as he's very active but i just find it a bit weird

greenerfingers · 23/10/2022 18:43

I second omeprazole @GeorgieEm. I tend not to get heartburn after first trimester but during the first it's really bad. I always take omeprazole till it passes. My GP prescribes it.

Count yourself among the lucky @curlywurly10 !! The rib pain is no joke. I had it with my son in second trimester and gone in third as he dropped. But he did lasting damage. This baby nothing relieves it and it's definitely added to previous damage. I fear any future pregnancies as the pain is excruciating.

CurlyNo2 · 23/10/2022 18:48

I’ve not had any rib kicks this pregnancy which I am very thankful for.

My 1st pregnancy, my son kicked me that hard in my ribs he dislocated a rib. It was agony and I’ve never recovered from it, 6 years later.

I feel so sick today, coupled with a pain under my bump quite sharp when I breathe in. I don’t know if I’m dehydrated or I need a poop!

Beanniebaby22 · 23/10/2022 19:20

@curlywurly10 not sure about rib kicks specifically but I do feel a bit bruised under my ribs so maybe he has been kicking me there. I have a short torso so would expect lots of rib kicking. Although he definitely has dropped down this last week.

mjb0616 · 23/10/2022 20:39

@CurlyNo2 yes to the numb fingers 😩 I have had what assume is either carpal tunnel or the one that comes from shoulder area for weeks now. Worse on right side at night but for at least 5 weeks now my fingertips on right hand are completely numb in the day as well!

Midwife just said "ah yes it's a common pregnancy thing" so they don't seem too worried and hopefully it will go once LO arrives !

I have found propping pillows up behind me so I am less flat seems to help

CurlyNo2 · 23/10/2022 20:46

I’m so glad that someone else is experiencing the numbness, I just ordered a cheap wrist support off Amazon for about £9 that says helps with carpal tunnel syndrome, although I think mine stems from my shoulder. Its so annoying as it’s my dominant hand so hinders everything I do as the numb sensation freaks me out.

I’m going to try and change my sleeping position tonight and see if that helps. So do you sleep almost sitting up?

curlywurly10 · 23/10/2022 21:17

I was just really curious as they've always told me at my growth scans that his legs are really long so i was fully expecting it to happen sooner or later but i guess i've dodged a bullet there. I'm definitely not envious of them after hearing everything yous guys have said and i hope it gets better for yous soon 🤞

ALittleBitofVitriol · 23/10/2022 21:44

Re waters, with my first my waters broke early in the morning when I went to the toilet. I was half asleep and remember thinking 'that was fast' but it didn't really register. I went back to sleep and woke up a couple of hours later feeling a trickle.

With my 3rd, it was a definite pop, early in the morning again. I jumped out of bed in time lol. No mistaking that one.

Discharge does increase at this stage, mine certainly has. If in doubt check, put on a pad and see what happens over an hour or so. If it has green or anything in it I'd call straight away.

roobearbaby · 23/10/2022 21:53

@curcurlywurly10 I have not felt any rib kicks either. Baby is just very low, I've not felt anything above my belly button.

I'm 37 weeks and I feel proper off this evening. Just wiped out and...I can't really describe it.

Got 4 days left of work and I could just really do with baby holding on until least next Monday so we have time to finish a few bits around the house next weekend!

Bubblegum20 · 23/10/2022 22:03

@Beanniebaby22 last time my waters were broken by the midwife while I was in labour as they didn't break themselves! If you're worried it's always best to get things checked

@curlywurly10 this baby loves a rib kick 😂 until a few days ago when my bumps dropped down quiet a bit so it has defo eases lately!

I'm 36 weeks today and have a feeling that this little one might come early like my daughter did but who knows, suppose I'll just have to wait and see

CurlsnLipstick · 24/10/2022 00:53

With my first, waters had to be broken even after induction with syntocin. I had pads on them so didn't feel the stream.
With DS, after second pessary, waters broke with a pop and the whole bed got wet. Serious gush like in the movies 😅Within 30min of waters breaking, he was born. So quick but intense 🙈

CurlsnLipstick · 24/10/2022 00:54

*then

OtiMama · 24/10/2022 01:25

I'm still awake, been having period like cramps on and off all day. Last time I only got these when my son was born, maybe a day or so before max but I feel so confused as to whether something is happening this time or if its nothing for now. Just seems early to me as I'm only 36 weeks and my son was 6 days late.

My waters went when I was pushing with my son, so have never experienced that before contractions. Also with rib kicks, I didn't get these at all with him. This baby i don't get kicks there either, more his bum pushing up into them.

greenerfingers · 24/10/2022 07:32

I hope you got some rest @OtiMama. We're toward the end where it could be everything or it could be nothing.. it might just be your body prepping braxton hicks this time or you could be having prodromal labour. My sister gets that for weeks with her girls, at least 2-3 weeks before delivery she gets periods pains on and off every day. With her son it was the usual contractions waters and baby within hours. Whatever it is I hope you make it to term and have them newborn cuddles soon 🥰.

Last night I screamed from the leg cramps and SPD pain. Husband and LO stayed fast asleep next to me. I told him this doesn't give me much confidence if I did have a very speedy spontaneous labour in the middle of the night 😅. I've never feared labour but with the torn hamstring and severe groin pain I'm starting to wonder how I'll be pushing this baby out. No position is comfortable!

wibblewobbleball · 24/10/2022 08:09

I think I fell off these threads from the early days of pregnancy but have just had a good read through. Am 37 weeks and so so miserable. I am going to reel off my list of complaints because I have no one to moan to!! My feet hurt and swell all time, I've gained heaps of weight, I've got piles Blush I keep leaking wee and have to wear a liner all time, I have too much amniotic fluid so my bump is super heavy and painful, my nips are now massively sensitive against my bra, I think I have carpal tunnel too as my right hand fingers are mostly numb, I wake every morning with jaw and sinus pain (I think from now starting to snore??), I get up at least 5 times a night to wee, adjust my position because my hips hurt, or just to be awake with insomnia for a couple of hours!! My bump is so big I struggle getting dressed and my shoes on. I'm emotional all the time and DH and I are falling out constantly. Can't believe I could have over a month to go!!! Rant over lol Grin
