And so we continue...

OP posts:
iliketosleep · 26/01/2008 12:32

goingfor3 my 3rd was my best one!!

I had both dd's in hospital with epidural and felt so shitty afterwards, but had ds at home and it was bloody marvellous! Was about 3 hours, had no pain relief and felt on top of the world afterwards.

splishsplosh · 26/01/2008 22:54

Have slightly crampy pain, and also back ache tonight. I'm hoping it's just cos I've walked miles and been on my fet much of the day, and nothing sinister...

spugs · 27/01/2008 08:32

goingfor3 - shhh dont say that about 3rd babies apparently there either very quick or little monkeys and take ages to get started. mw says there not necesserily more difficult [fingers crossed]

im having my first homebirth with this one (as long as theres enough mws ) had a dream last night though where i had an 8lb4 baby my biggest so far is 7lb5 so find the thought of one that big a bit scary!

am pissed of with best friend as last night she told me i was fat and refused to believe in any such thing as water retention. was not amused!

anyway, hi to everyone going to take sprogs swimming in a bit

good, found you all.

congrat ronshar - i am soooo chuffed for you. yay!

sweetkitty - i like the sound of that birth -have one on order myself ('cept i am too chicken to give birth at home).

does anyone know if its bad to use the doppler often at home? i am doing it at least a couple of times a day at the moment. are the sound waves aggravating or dangerous for the baby?

am starting to get really excited now. been buying a few bits and bobs and can't wait to find out the sex (next Friday - yay!)

of course, doesn't matter ifs its a boy or a girl - but girl stuff is seductively cute . . . .

everything i have bought has been bright, non-gender specific colours though. i am pretty sure baby will be cafe-au-lait or dark-skinned (i am a very light mix of jamaican and scottish and my dp is african-american) so yellows, greens, oranges, turquoise . . .

sorry - bit carried away with pointless thoughts there . . .ahem!

hope everyone is fine.
how are you today splish? i have backache and stretchy womb pains occasionally and just assumed it was growing/body changing pains . . .

splishsplosh · 27/01/2008 14:01

Hi Tjuoice, well the crampy pain wouldn't really bother me as I had that before with dd and I think it's quite common, it's the backache that was more of a worry as I had that with crampy when I had the mc. But no bleeding so I'm crossing my fingers it's just I've just been on my feet all day walking to shops/park/kid's party etc etc.
Anyway, hopefully it's just everything growing & stretching - I'm just 5 weeks today.

Your baby is bound to look lovely in all those bright colours - dp is afro caribbean, and dd looks gorgeous in bright colours (and everything else of course! )

Spugs at your friend!

WinkyGirl · 27/01/2008 14:42

EllieG · 27/01/2008 17:55

Which scan are you waiting for makecakes? Sorry you are feeling down - is probably just hormones playing up. Have some tea and chocolate x

splishsplosh - hope that your cramps have stopped. Take it easy lady x

tjuice - fingers crossed for the scan! Let us know what flavour you're having

ronshar · 28/01/2008 09:59

I have tested again! Nothing to do with paranoia of course. Still BFP.
Thank you every one for your welcome. I really really hope I stay longer than last time.

hunofmonsters · 28/01/2008 10:03

ow ow ow ow

after a blissful fortnight ish with a vaguely achy hip, the pain has come back! AND i hurt the other side ion a pram shop trying to fold up the bloody loola buggy, its soooo heavy! (luckily the new one is lighter!)

Sweetkitty, my 2nd was1 hour start to finish! Was quite dramatic though as it was the middle of the night and for security the 2 sets of doors to the womens unit are locked and you need to buzz up. Well DP buzzed and i got thru the first door then felt a HUGE urge to push so had to stop and cross my legs and lift my bump up! DP went thru the other set of doors but i couldn't move and i was locked in DP had to run up to delivery to get someone to let me out!
THEN (as if that wasn't dramatic enough!) the MW refused to examine me saying i was only a few cms dilated and went off for some gas and air which i didn't want in any case. When she came back in i was pushing DS2 out

Winky, not long left now is there?! You are right, subsequent babies are soooo much easier to prepare for!

hunofmonsters · 28/01/2008 10:03

makescakes, is it your 20 week scan you are waiting for?

goingfor3 · 28/01/2008 10:54

hunofmonsters, I hope you get a fast labour again but maybe not so dramtic!

Ronshar, glad you still have a bfp and hope it continues for the next 7 1/2 months!

Makescakes, I was feeling quite down beofre my 20 week scan and I'm sure it was just because I was worried they would find something wrong. Never worried like that before my other scans but the more time I spend on MN the more things I find to worry about!

spugs · 28/01/2008 11:21

i agree with the easy prep, this ones number three and im basically sorted with out having to do much pushchair is here just need to decide whether or not to get matching carseat or keep my old one. decisions decisions. not sure i have enough vests though only got 6 vests and sleep suits and fear i may be being a bit to minimilistic!!

just found out my 15 year old cousin is 20 weeks pregnant which came as a bit of a shock! shes a clever girl and is still going to college to do her a levels in september but im all worried about her now. just hope shes ok, her families being very supportive and im going to see if she wants a load of stuff ive got and offer baby sitting, preg advice. dont now how else to help

WinkyGirl · 28/01/2008 12:43

Crikey spugs re. your cousin. Its great that her family is being supportive and that you are having a baby soon. At least she can have a "practice" and get loads of good advice. Do you live close to her? I cannot imagine how I would have dealt with a baby at 15...

Makecakes good luck for the scan. You'll feel so much better after and soon you'll be able to feel the baby move regularly. I know that has helped me.

hunofmonsters 1 hour labour

EllieG · 28/01/2008 13:19

What a nice auntie you are spugs - sounds like your whole family is lovely and she will do fine x

makecakesnotwar · 28/01/2008 17:11

Hello all- and thanks for messages. I am waiting impatiently for 20 week scan which I don't get in Bromley until 23 weeks for some reason...but because my dates have changed it now falls on the day I turn 24 weeks...so I guess I'm a little nervous that something really will be wrong and I won't have the luxury of time to make decisions....

The baby is kicking like wildfire so I don't have to worry too much about that, thank God. But I appear to be suffering from the beginnings of SPD so that has been preying on my mind too.

Anyway, enough of the feeling sorry for myself. How is everyone?

TJuice · 28/01/2008 19:54

good luck makecakes. i have mine on friday which i will only be 19 weeks and 1 day for, so hope its not too early.

also feel a bit nervous and agree wiht G43 that mumsnet is sometimes a mixed blessing in terms of exposure to more things to worry about.

lucky you to have all the kicks though. i am eagerly awaiting mine.

hi to everyone else. just got an earful from my mum who goes on and on about not gaining too much weight during pregnancy as its so hard to get off etc etc. god, it pissed me off. I have gained 10lbs since the beginning which i think is probably okay and i am just bloody starving at the moment. i am a big, tall size 14 to begin with and have struggled with weight and body issues my whole adult life. i don't want to blow up like a whale but i just think "i am genuinely hungry - therefore i should eat" and it pisses me off how much pressure there still is about getting fat when you're pregnant. i am definitely not eating for two but with the first pg last year,i was super paranoid, kept a food diary, worked out 3 or 4 times a week and then mc-ed at 9 and a half weeks. this time round, i am not going to rent headspace thinking about that kind of thing -eat well, take walks, maybe work out now and again . . .

i guess i should get used to this kind of comment/interfering and learn to take it with a pinch of salt, as i have a feeling there is plenty more where that came from (she can't believe women breastfeed after 3 months!)

iliketosleep · 28/01/2008 20:09

i've started bleeding

fuckity fuck fuck fuck

heard heartbeat and got scan tomorrow but im not holding out much hope

spugs · 28/01/2008 21:08

oh hun, how many weeks are you? if you can hear the heart beat then surly thats a good sign. good luck for tomorrow x

EllieG · 29/01/2008 09:05

ILTS - sorry hon, hope it's all OK. How much are you bleeding? Maybe you should get yourself down to hospital for scan today?

iliketosleep · 29/01/2008 11:27

scans at 3 today, bleeding stopped yesterday but its the same pattern as it was last pg apart from im 11 weeks now rather than 10

on a good note though i found babies heartbeat this morning without even trying to find it, put doppler on my tummy and there it was nice and strong.

Im holding onto even if this little one doesnt make it at least i will get to see it alive and kicking on screen first

ILTS- just wanted to know that I am keeping everything crossed for you.

And very jealous of TJuice and her scan that's on Friday. Do you have a bump picture yet? LOL at your mum about weight gain. I have exactly the same thing with MIL, who always looks me up and down and doesn't believe me when I tell her how much weight I have put on...

I have put on 13 pounds to date. Was size 16 pre-pregnancy having fought weight gain all my life, and after mc last year have totally taken the approach that if I am hungry, I will eat, and whatever I feel like. I just want a happy healthy baby and if it means I have to work extra hard to lose the pounds, so be it!

basilbrush · 29/01/2008 13:53

Hello lovely ladies -

A seriously overdue update to the thread but I hope I can still rejoin?

Some of you on here who remember me from last year. I had two m/c in 2007 and then when I got pg again in Sept I was a nervous wreck. We've been treading on eggshells as I had some bleeding but after scans at (wait for it) 7, 9, 11, 14 and 19 weeks, I am finally beginning to relax

DH banned me from MN and, I admit, I was unable to think of anything else and was a bag of nerves

Today though, Basil Brush is taking a stand and saying "I'm back! I'm 21 weeks today! I'm (hopefully) going to have a baby!"

For those of you who don't know me, I'm 29, have one DS who is two in a fortnight and I live in Sunny Scotland.

Fantastic news about MrsMc. Anyone know of nh01 and her twins??

Hugs and slices of virtual chocolate fudge cake to everyone,
BB
