I've just found out I'm expecting my second baby the first week of June 2023 - anyone else? Early days, so being cautious, but can't help feeling excited!

@Blossomhoney glad your hear your on the mend! Hope you feel better really soon.

I feel nauseous all day but I'm not throwing up (touch wood). I find eating helps, it's the only time I don't feel sick, so I eat all the time! I'm going to have a lot of weight to lose if I keep on the way I am...

My mum said she threw up for the whole 9 months with me and that wine gums help. I've also heard hard boiled sweets are good but I guess it depends on individuals.

Summersun1991 · 17/10/2022 16:42

@FLA92 I think cramping after sex is normal. I had to Google it the other day, I was panicking as it was quite bad cramping too!

FLA92 · 17/10/2022 16:51

@Summersun1991 phew! I was SO scared. I just googled it and it does seem to be normal 😊

DrinkingAllTheGin · 17/10/2022 18:20

6+1 today.
Feeling slightly more energetic than yesterday (low bar to be honest) so getting stuff done after work that I ignored yesterday.
Got my scan date through today. All via the NHS app. Assuming a paper copy will follow.

Going off some foods so difficult to work out what I want to eat. Soup is going down well!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 17/10/2022 19:11

6weeks+3 today and still getting 2-3 weeks on clear blue. Hope it's not a bad sign.

Re: SEX during 1st TRIMESTER

@FLA92 be very careful, because I had sex on Valentine's day with my partner, he is much taller & heavier than me. He ended up on top of me and I felt uneasy from his weight. After couple hours spotting commenced and 111 have suggested it may be potential sign of miscarriage, so I was not wasting time and rushed to hospital. Only after several days my complete miscarriage was confirmed, but I felt guilty allowing intimacy in 1st trimester particularly with certain positions despite my close friends have WARNED me about risk of sex in 1st trimester. I absolutely blamed myself as all signs suggested that great physical discomfort and his weight may have killed the life inside of my fragile tiny body in comparison with heavy body of my partner.

Be aware and protect your Growing Pumkin xx

RE exercise, I’ve not done anything other than the normal pottering around. The day my bright red bleeding started and I miscarried with my previous pregnancy, was right after exercising. I know there’s no evidence that it can cause miscarriage but it’s stuck with me and I’ve become apprehensive. Plus, I’ve go no energy at the minute and not a second to myself. I definitely need to start back up but need ti find the motivation 🙈

You’re all making me jealous with these scan dates haha! 🤣 I’ve still not got mine - hoping I’m given one after my midwife appointment.

@thedust and @CaliGirl47 Yes, I did think it would be nice to have that period before they start school and then plenty of bonding time with baby during the day. Also works out nicely because I’ll be able to do school pick-ups and drop offs (and won’t miss DS’s first day) since I’ll be on mat leave. 🥰 I would have absolutely hated it if I missed that!

kids are so resilient that I’m sure your little one will take everything in their stride @thedust.

@FLA92 Yes, sex can continue as normal. I remember having to be a bit creative with my first during the third trimester as the bump does get in the way a bit, but no impact in first trimester. Not to disagree with what @LondonBundleOfJoy said, I don’t think there’s any medical evidence to suggest it causes miscarriage (as far as I’m aware, at least). I remember having a conversation with my midwife when pregnant with my first and she told me they’d only put you on pelvic rest if you were bleeding and that’s because of infection risk, not risk of miscarriage.

@Rose785 You may be lucky and not get sickness! I didn’t with DS! More commonly though, it starts sometime in the 6th week. I feel like I’ve had nausea forever but it was at its worse yesterday and seems to have calmed down a bit today (I’m 6+5).

@Blossomhoney Sorry to hear you’ve been so unwell! I hope you’re on the mend now and get some relief from the sickness soon - could you maybe see if your GP could prescribe something?

@BellaTheDarkOverlord I wouldn’t worry too much about the CB. Some women just have naturally lower HCG levels to begin with. The main thing is that it’s rising - maybe normal tests would give you reassurance if the line progresses over 48 hours (although your lines might already be super dark at this stage so possibly not).

Mannymoomin · 17/10/2022 20:16

I’ve not been able to book in with midwife yet.
getting through to an actual person at my drs is a nightmare, spending ages on hold so I just give up, I do have access to ask my gp, but even that is a nightmare as it closes for online requests as soon as it gets full, so even online requests are as bad as actually calling.

I’m 6+2 according to my app, nausea or sickness hasn’t started yet, I’m praying it doesn’t as it’s always been the worst part of pregnancy for me.

Thankfully covid took my sense of smell nearly 2 years ago, so I don’t have to worry about smells bringing on any sickness.

I’ve still been having spotting, personally I’m not worried about it, it only happens after sex, or if I strain too much on the toilet.
As in I was terribly constipated yesterday (tmi sorry) and that caused light pink bleeding, but it stopped almost as quickly as it started.

Okapi99 · 17/10/2022 20:59

Im 7 weeks now. I had my booking appt on Friday, had my bloods taken today and started on some new meds for reflux too.

I need to ring tomorrow to book my scan in. I have a lovely little video of my baby's heartbeat I wish I could share with you all 🥰

LondonBundleOfJoy · 18/10/2022 05:44

Good morning,

After I had no news since my Self-referral was submitted on 5th October I have chased the admin team and midwifes, so to my surprise 2 appointments were scheduled for meeting with Midwife in November (unusually on Saturday!) and appointment for my 1st Scan at 13 weeks on 12 December. That will be a nice Christmas surprise for family with a scan photo to look forward to! Apparently the actual invitation/notification was posted, however due to Royal mail postal strike there will be expected a delay of postal services - be aware mummies with growing pumkins! Xx

@Okapi99 congratulations!
Did you have a private scan done, as video sounds like an amazing option that nhs will never offer probably.

Warm regards from London x

Rose785 · 18/10/2022 09:09

@theodora2146 How are you? I have been thinking of you! Have you got another scan booked in?

Piggieinthemiddle · 18/10/2022 09:18

@Mannymoomin Same! My GP is terrible - they never seem to answer the phone and the website just sends you round in a loop and tells you to see a pharmacist. I just self-referred myself to the local hospital. It was just an online form to fill in and they called to make my first appointment five days later.

Hi @Rose785 I'm all good, no pain and no bleeding so that's a good sign. Still got symptoms like sore boobs and tiredness. I have another scan Thursday this week, I think last week I may have been too early. I dated back from my last period witch makes me 7+5 today but I think I've worked out when I would have ovulated which would actually make me around 6 weeks this week. It's all very confusing lol

Rose785 · 18/10/2022 09:59

@theodora2146 I am pleased you are doing well! I am sure everything will be alright! Let us know how the scan goes on Thursday. We must be a similar time as I will be 6 weeks on Sunday.
I want to book an early one too but thinking of holding off until I am 8 weeks as I have the fear now!

@Rose785 it's terrible isn't it! I just want to make sure everything is as it should be, I feel I can't get excited or relax until I know. But fingers crossed more is seen this week.

The hospital and midwife has dated me as 8 weeks from Thursday but I'm sure I'm earlier. I have my booking appointment with the midwife on Saturday as well!

Rose785 · 18/10/2022 10:32

@theodora2146 I know I feel the same! I just wish I could look into the future and know it will all be ok and I can just enjoy these early days. Its such a weird set of emotions as all you want is to be pregnant then the moment I was it was onto the next worry!

That's so exciting and must make it all feel more real! I haven't heard when mine is yet but I am only 5 weeks so sure I am at the bottom of their list!

TrulyMiss · 18/10/2022 10:37

Hi ladies, can I join in? Got my BFP for no. 2 this morning at 11 DPO. I reckon my due date will be 30 June so I just about fit in to the thread!! Conscious it's early days but I'm hopeful. I have PCOS and had to do letrozole so it's been a bit of a journey!!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 18/10/2022 12:01

Congrats on new BFPs x

My test line is darker than control. 6+4weeks.

Picture didn't add for some reason.

Tinkerbell098 · 18/10/2022 12:53

@BellaTheDarkOverlord thats great! Have you done a CB digital again?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 18/10/2022 13:32

Not since yesterday. Run out of them and can't justify buying more as so expensive. I just hope I get more symptoms. It's weird not feeling anything.

Tinkerbell098 · 18/10/2022 13:52

@BellaTheDarkOverlord I'm about a week behind you and CB said 1-2 weeks last Saturday, when I'd have expected it to say 2-3. I haven't tested since. It was a two pack so I'm saving the other one for later this week. I too have zero symptoms so far so was panicking at the start. I have calmed myself a little bit now as I've heard that some won't feel symptoms until 7 or 8 weeks and it's perfectly normal. I have a scan booked in two weeks. It's going to draaag!

Rose785 · 18/10/2022 13:55

@Tinkerbell098 how many weeks are you now? I currently have no symptoms other than boobs hurt.

Tinkerbell098 · 18/10/2022 14:00

@Rose785 I’m 5+4. I don’t even have sore boobs. On Sunday, I had some back pain in the night but that seems to have gone now.

Rose785 · 18/10/2022 14:03

@Tinkerbell098 I am 5+3! I plan on getting an early scan too just for some re assurance. I don't feel pregnant at all, as I get sore boobs before my period so I am used to the type of pain they are in. I should be 8W by the scan and then we plan on telling our parents! So excited about telling them
