I've just found out I'm expecting my second baby the first week of June 2023 - anyone else? Early days, so being cautious, but can't help feeling excited!

I've been adding a teaspoon of honey to my ginger and lemon tea.

B1993 · 16/10/2022 21:45

Just about as much as I've manage today @DrinkingAllTheGin! Hubby's work uniform is washed and ready for tomorrow so I'm considering that a win...

@jessiexo 🙋🏻‍♀️Me! I'm also feeling terrible. I know I can't really complain as so many of you have it a lot worse (can't imagine trying to cope with HG) but, gosh, it's hit me hard today! Also felt my temper has been really short and I've been snappy - the headache hasn't helped with that. Hoping to do something nice tomorrow with DS to make up for the lazy weekend we've had!

I've got significant lower back ache today. Similar to my period pains. Going to try a warm bath. I like them scalding usually but won't go that hot any more.

I couldn’t cope without my baths. I have bought myself a bath thermometer so I can have a nice long soak without worrying it’s too hot.

natkasz · 17/10/2022 08:07

Can I tentatively join you ladies? According to my LMP, I'm 4+5 but we didn't do the deed until day 16 so I think I'm a couple days earlier than this.

We lost out little bean in February at 7 weeks which really messed me up and I required months of counselling thereafter. I'm 36 and already have a little boy who is 2.5.

FLA92 · 17/10/2022 08:24

Is a dull cramping normal? Also when I got up out of bed in the night quite fast (needed a wee) it felt like a stretch cramp for a few seconds. Panicking and over thinking every feeling 😓

Tawny2022 · 17/10/2022 08:42

@FLA92 yes I’ve been having it the whole time on and off, is normal apparently.

feeling grim today, headache and general ill feeling. Looking forward to work!

mimi2538 · 17/10/2022 09:03

Does anyone know of any cough medicines we're allowed when pregnant? I'm off into town today to get something because I was up all night coughing and I can't ignore it any longer. 😩

zinrepus · 17/10/2022 09:13

@mimi2538 Talk to your pharmacist about it, but you may be stuck with natural remedies...but a mum in my local chat mentioned something about black radish being good for a cough syrup...no clue on specifics though...

For folks asking about apps, I used to love the Pregnancy+ app, but will admit to being annoyed with it since my last baby as it's making me log in every time I try to open it instead of saving my login. So for now I'm using Ovia's pregnancy app, which is also good. A little less clean of a UI, but a little more funky fun as well, so do with that what you will.

thedust · 17/10/2022 09:18

Gosh I feel like this pregnancy is dragging 🤣 with my first, I had quite irregular periods so didn't test for ages and was 6 weeks when I found out. This time I tested a few days before my period was due so wasn't even 4 weeks when I found out and now I'm only 5+6. I'm bloody knackered but don't know how much of that is pregnancy and how much is just being busy in work plus having a toddler!

B1993 · 17/10/2022 09:19

@natkasz, there’s a few of us ladies on here that have had previous losses so can relate. Congratulations on your rainbow - here’s hoping it’s a sticky one 💖🌈

@FLA92, I’ve had cramping since before I even got my positive. It comes and goes but don’t think I’ve had a day without it! I remember cramping early on with my son too, so hoping all is well with my little bean in there! 🤞🏻🥰 I cannot remember how long it lasted with him but it’s quite uncomfortable so I’m hoping not too much longer!

@mimi2538, I’m sure there will be something! If I were you, I’d pop into the pharmacy and check with them.

My cold symptoms seemed to have eased off but DH was up all last night coughing - bless him! Obviously that meant I didn’t get any sleep either though 🙈 DS also seems to have a mild case, too, but in true pre-schooler fashion, he isn’t letting it bother him. 🫣🤣 Hopefully he’ll burn off some energy this afternoon when I take him to the park/to see some animals.

Headache is still bothering me and more nausea this morning. I read dry and sweet things can help as nausea tends to be worse when blood sugars are low. I had a chocolate belvita bar this morning and it seems to have helped! 🙌🏻

Rose785 · 17/10/2022 09:21

@Piggieinthemiddle what temp should you have your bath when pregnant? I wasn't even aware of this stuff!
@FLA92 I have had some cramps
on and off too, last night I woke up at 3am with cramps on the left side and worked myself into a panic attack that its an ectopic then I googled chances of ectopic and its only 1% chance so I tried to calm myself down.

I am worried about every pang and cramp I have too, this is my first baby and I am so worried about a miscarriage (not had one) are these feelings normal and do they eventually go?!

Dewintergarden · 17/10/2022 09:25

I'm 5.1weeks I've got no nausea, just lower back pain. I had an awful cold for 3weeks which has now gone thankfully. Is this your first?

FLA92 · 17/10/2022 09:40

I’ve honestly done the same thing!

B1993 · 17/10/2022 09:49

@Rose785, I was exactly the same with my first pregnancy. I’d never really experienced anxiety before pregnancy, but I seemed to develop it as soon as I found out! It was really bad and for me personally, I didn’t start to stop worrying as much until I was past 24 weeks. It’s so morbid, but I’d practically convinced myself something serious would go wrong (I had quite a few issues during my pregnancy but luckily nothing serious in the end) and that’s the viability age for babies who are born prematurely. Reaching that point meant my baby’s chance of survival was good - again very morbid and didn’t have any serious problems in the end - but that’s just my personal experience.

@Dewintergarden Mine cold has been here for just over 3 weeks now but also thankfully seems to easing off!

This June baby will be my second 💚 I have a son who turned 3 in July.

Speaking of, (and I know this is a way off), but do the nhs allow children in scans? Or is it just one other person? Has anyone ever had older kids at their scans - can’t decide if it will be a nice bonding moment or complete disaster 🙈🤣

Piggieinthemiddle · 17/10/2022 09:51

@Rose785 The NHS advice around baths is not super helpful as it just says "not hot", or "warm" but according to US guidance it shouldn't be over 98-102 Fahrenheit, which is about 36-38 Celsius, so I'm sticking to around 37. Some guidance says hot baths are fine for 10 or even 20 mins, but I like a nice long soak, so I'd rather have it a bit cooler!

I think the main risk with a hot bath is around hyperthermia, as pregnancy means your body temperature is slightly elevated to start with, and there is some evidence around increased risk of miscarriage.

I've also had a horrendous cold and can't tell if my nausea is from that or pregnancy. I'm only 4 weeks, so I've probably got the pregnancy nausea still to come.

Rose785 · 17/10/2022 09:54

@B1993 thanks for your response! I am not a anxious person at all so I am not use to these feelings! Its like all I wanted for months was to fall pregnant and convinced myself I will be 100% happy as soon as I am but then as soon as I was this new worry manifested and its making me feel sad with worry. I wish a fairy could tell me I can guarantee everything will be 100% ok and you can just relax and enjoy!

I had my scan letter last week and it stated you could not bring children.

We'll have the same siblings age gap, my daughter was 3 in July too!

Tinkerbell098 · 17/10/2022 10:11

This is my first pregnancy and clueless as to what is going on in my body. Woke up in the middle of the night with cramping in lower abdomen, which then moved to the right lower back. Got a bit unbearable at one point. Lasted a good 15 minutes or so before it eased off. Scary! Does anyone know this is normal? Can't help but google miscarriage symptoms.

LondonBundleOfJoy · 17/10/2022 10:17

Good morning - Happy Monday Ladies!
@natkasz welcome to the Team of June Happy Bundles of Joy!

Looks like we both had miscarriage in February, I lost mine on 5-6 weeks of pregnancy and no help was offered, but the feeling of attachment to my rainbow baby and her spirit was immense!! So totally understand your emotions and what rollacoaster you went through with this.

I am 5 weeks pregnant by now and wake up hungry daily by 6am! Feel hungry more often, so munching frequently sunflower seeds, yoghurts, almonds, fruits, warm milk, absolutely love Oat milk (my latest hobby!)

You have a toddle at home, wow that keeps you busy!! My teenagers are 12 and 16 and I think yesterday they have understood I am pregnant, as they saw digital pregnancy test and urine sample left in the bathroom, so as asked me why I switched to organic milk only suddenly after being dizzy for 2 days:) Girls are clever, they will work it out, but did not tell me anything directly yet:)

I understand not all live near London, but if anyone will decide to meet up please include me, happy to get to know you and become busses with growing Pumpkins!

WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay · 17/10/2022 10:36

I have a question please, I usually use Veet for hair removal, is this safe during pregnancy? Veet’s own website says it is fine but I see conflicting advice elsewhere and am confused!

B1993 · 17/10/2022 10:40

@Rose785 Thanks for info about scan… I’ve had my booking appointment in my diary for weeks but nothing through about my scan. Hopefully I’ll be added to the list after my appointment next week.

Might book a private scan so DS can see baby before they arrive.

@thedust How are you feeling about the gap? Ideally I would have liked a gap closer to 3 or 3.5 but things obviously didn’t work out that way for us and we didn’t actually start trying until June this year with a loss along the way!

@Tinkerbell098 I remember having cramping with my son until after 6 weeks but can’t remember precisely when it stopped. I also had back unbearable back pain and was diagnosed with sciatica in the first trimester. If the pain is agonising though, and isolated to one side, it’s recommended that you go to A&E to rule out an ectopic. As someone said on here, they are very rare so try not to worry too much!

B1993 · 17/10/2022 10:44

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay There’s conflicting advice about most beauty products when you’re pregnant including moisturisers, nail varnish and even soaps! If Veet say it’s safe, I’m sure it will be. 😊
