I've just found out I'm expecting my second baby the first week of June 2023 - anyone else? Early days, so being cautious, but can't help feeling excited!

Thanks@B1993 ! I have an app showing me week 6 which is a week ahead! Will try the what to expect one.

@Rose785 I'm going to wait as long as I can to buy anything (hoping once I tell people I'll be able to borrow some things!), But feel like I might need new bras sooner rather than later :/

Babybaby66 · 16/10/2022 09:07

@Confused31 is it the pregnancy + app? I’ve got a couple of apps on the go that all show me at 6 weeks apart from
pregnancy + which is showing 7 now for some reason…

Rose785 · 16/10/2022 09:15

@B1993 thanks for letting me know! What mat clothes must haves would you recommend? I was thinking leggings, jeggings, joggers and long t shirts then one or two really nice summer dresses but will prob wait to ask for then for my bday in Feb ready for a big bump in the summer. And obv some comfy bras.

B1993 · 16/10/2022 09:35

@Confused31 Thats strange! Mine line up with my ovulation but I set them up with my DD rather than LMP as I knew that would put me further ahead.

@Rose785 I've got plenty of jeans, leggings and tops which I tend to gravitate to. I also have several pairs of smart trousers for work, jumpers, jogger sets etc. The other must haves are maternity to nursing night dresses. I got some from blooming marvellous (a little bit more pricey conpared to the high street brands I recommend before) but they're so comfortable!! If I'm honest, I never stopped using them, even when I was no longer breastfeeding 🙈😅 They also do nice dresses at Jo Jo Maman Bebe, which is another I'd recommend (also a bit more expensive than the other brands). I have a lovely wrap dress from those and, again, super comfortable. The more luxury brand I'd suggest is Seraphine... perfect for occasion wear.

Tawny2022 · 16/10/2022 10:16

Morning! What are the best pregnancy apps to use and what are they for? Bit clueless…

B1993 · 16/10/2022 11:16

I've just had my first bout of *almost sickness. I was dry heaving heavily but nothing came up... not sure if that's only a lack of food/fluid. Also have a headache. 🤢🤕

It feels really bizzare after making it 9 months with my son without a single episode like that.

Going to see if some toast helps...

Veryxonfused · 16/10/2022 11:31

Rose785 · 15/10/2022 18:32

@Veryxonfused congrats on the scan! Looks amazing thanks for sharing 😊could you see the heart beating at this stage? Just wondering if to do a scan earlier at 7 weeks or try and hold out to 8! I am only 5 weeks today so feels like so long away! I got my nhs 12 week scan confirmed today for the 28th November. I am so excited!

Thank you, yes I could see the heartbeat at both scans. Good luck with yours :) I think 7 and 8 week scans are pretty similar in terms of what you’ll see

Veryxonfused · 16/10/2022 11:34

Confused31 · 16/10/2022 08:11

Can I ask a dumb question? Is week 6 of pregnancy 5+x etc. (As 0+x would be in week 1) or is week 6 when you're 6+x?

This makes more sense to me, as week 1 (for example) is 0+1, 0+2 and you’re only actually ‘1 week’ pregnant after you’ve completed that week.. so week 2 would be 1+1, 1+2 etc
Not sure if that makes sense but it makes more sense to me that when you’re 5+1 weeks pregnant you’re now in your 6th week
This is how the pregnancy+ app works too

Veryxonfused · 16/10/2022 11:35

@Confused31 find it funny how both are usernames are ‘confused’ though 😂

Veryxonfused · 16/10/2022 11:36

our* 🤦‍♀️

Okapi99 · 16/10/2022 12:27

6weeks 1 day today (but I think I'm a bit further as I got my bfp 3 weeks ago.

Lovely heartbeat, 1 baby, 💓

@Babybaby66 thanks for your reply! Feel free to brain dump anytime! It is a hard decision as to whether to have it. My closest place to us is over an hours drive and £395 or £450 depending on the testing. You can have the blood test from 9 weeks so theres a bit of time to think about it. My midwife was going to see if she could speak to the consultant we dealt with last pregnancy to see when he wants to see me. I'm hoping he gets me in sooner than the 12 week scan. When is your 7 week scan booked for?

@B1993 did the toast help?! I've been really nauseous in the afternoon/evenings (but not actually been sick thank goodness). We have family coming over later and I'm hoping I can keep it hidden!

Quokka7 · 16/10/2022 12:35

@Okapi99 so glad your scan went well! Lovely photo!

B1993 · 16/10/2022 13:17

@Okapi99 Lovely scan! 🤩 I wouldn't worry about scan dates too much at this stage. They can be out by up to 5 days, which is what the midwife told me when I had mine. At this stage tenths of millimetres can make a difference to dates.

Will your next one be the routine 12 week scan? I'm already feeling impatient for it! 😅

Yes, the toast seems to have helped a bit @Quokka7! I'm still feeling ever so slightly nauseous and my head's still pounding though 🤕 I hate complaining about the nausea as I know some people have it SO much worse but it's a bit of a shock after a beeeze of a pregnancy with my son!

Could you just tell family you're feeling under the weather? Seems like there's a few bugs around at the minute... I seem to have passed mine on to my hubby 😬

DrinkingAllTheGin · 16/10/2022 14:18

I'm treating myself to a duvet day.
DH is away so I should be doing the housework we usually split, but I really can't be arsed. Done the bare minimum!

rainbowsunshines · 16/10/2022 15:30

Hi everyone, please can I join? I got my BFP on Friday, and according to LMP date will be 5 weeks on Monday and due on 19th June! This will be our second baby and we are over the moon 😍

Okapi99 · 16/10/2022 16:34

B1993, yes I think I'll stick with my dates of about 7 weeks and wait for my dating scan. The midwife says I can have the dating scan from 8 weeks but I have to ring them tomorrow to book it, and I don't know how busy they are!

Welcome rainbows sunshines!

B1993 · 16/10/2022 17:04

@DrinkingAllTheGin A duvet day sounds great!! Despite my best efforts, I've not even managed the bare minimum today 😭

@rainbowsunshines Congratulations 🥳

@Okapi99 I have never heard of them giving you a choice as to the date. Are you with private rather than NHS care?

DrinkingAllTheGin · 16/10/2022 17:17

All I have done is hang up some laundry and empty the bins.
I'm waiting till is dark to take the bins out so no one notices I'm in pj's!

Babybaby66 · 16/10/2022 17:55

@Quokka7 my early scan is next Monday - getting closer now! Weirdly as time goes on I’m less sure about the testing so I’ll see how I go…

Welcome @rainbowsunshines

hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday doing as little as possible. I went for a long walk with some friends and an shattered now…

jessiexo · 16/10/2022 18:03

Anyone else feeling like absolute rubbish!!

I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and over the weekend I've felt nothing but death, feeling sick, cold symptoms and just exhausted. Got work tomorrow and no idea how I'm going to get through 😩

Any tips for nausea/sickness?!

Tinkerbell098 · 16/10/2022 18:37

Sharp lower back pain and general cramping today so been lying in bed pretty much all day. I’m 5+2. No nausea yet. When did nausea kick in for you?

DrinkingAllTheGin · 16/10/2022 19:17

I've got significant lower back ache today. Similar to my period pains. Going to try a warm bath. I like them scalding usually but won't go that hot any more.

Tinkerbell098 · 16/10/2022 19:22

@DrinkingAllTheGin yes I also like mine scalding so have avoided them for a few weeks now (I’m ivf so have been advised to by my clinic). I’d love one right now though!

Ally1992 · 16/10/2022 19:37

@jessiexo I’m 6 weeks today and felt horrendous Friday and Saturday, terrible headaches and nausea. Woke up this morning feeling good though, even went to the gym so seems to come in waves.

Someone mentioned smoothies on here which was good advice when you can’t stomach some actual food, also ginger and lemon tea has helped.
