I've just found out I'm expecting my second baby the first week of June 2023 - anyone else? Early days, so being cautious, but can't help feeling excited!

Had my booking in appointment today and told I'm high risk due to high bmi, baby number 6 and being 39 😒

Quokka7 · 14/10/2022 18:41

@Algor1thm @B1993 @VesperLindt congrats on the early scans going well! 🥰 must be a huge relief!

@NalaNana I hope the cramping has calmed down for you. Try not to worry 💞

I thought the 6 week nausea thing was going to be a myth but its hit me today in waves! Im also absolutely knackered! I'm waking up around 5am every morning and struggling to get back to sleep. Definitely hoping for a lie in this weekend!😴

tigerlily0 · 14/10/2022 19:13

Ladies can anyone advise. I'm not really a big eater, nor a snacker. don't have much during the day (normally) but I'm finding the only thing helping my sickness is actually eating -and carbs at that. It's stressing me out as I don't know what to eat during the day apart from toast or a sandwich, also means I have to eat breakfast which I never do. What things are ppl eating that's easy to pick at and helping the nausea? 7 weeks and it's so bad today

Okapi99 · 14/10/2022 19:59

Carbs here too tiger lily. Cheese on toast, Mcdonalds breakfast. Chips. Crisps. Nuts. 😌

Veryxonfused · 14/10/2022 20:00

i’m pretty much living off bread and butter, ready salted hula hoops and water

CaliGirl47 · 14/10/2022 20:30

I’m not sure if it’s any help @

CaliGirl47 · 14/10/2022 20:37

Sorry I have no idea why that didn’t post properly. 🤦🏻‍♀️
I don’t know if it’s any help @tigerlily0 but I’ve been making frozen fruit smoothies for breakfast with orange juice. Sometimes I add frozen spinach and I usually add a frozen block of ginger. I find that really helps with the morning nausea and I can just take little sips of it all throughout the morning. I’m not really enjoying any other food lately. 😩 And I’m normally quite a foodie. But it all just makes me feel queasy and car sick. 🥴😵‍💫 But not actually to the point of being sick. The smoothie is the only thing I’ve been having that actually makes me feel better.

I am 6+5 today and had some blood work done today. But still no booking appointment or scan appointment or any correspondence through the post. I’m getting the impression that my local midwives/hospitals are very backlogged. 😅 I’ll feel much better when I’ve at least got some dates to look forward to.

Tawny2022 · 14/10/2022 21:33

@CaliGirl47 how did you register? I did it on ‘my pregnancy notes’ and on the link on my GPs website. Possibly annoyed them by doing it multiple routes but I got the midwife appointment within a week.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 14/10/2022 21:47

DH is off for away for a few days work so I have taken myself to bed with the cat. Early night for a Friday. Rick and roll this pregnancy lark!

B1993 · 15/10/2022 08:12

@Quokka7 Yes, I definitely feel more relaxed now! Statistically speaking, your chances of miscarriage after seeing a heartbeat at 6 weeks are less than 10% so the odds are in our favour! @Rose785 I'm sure an early scan would give you some relief too, if you're feeling anxious.

@NalaNanaI had some pretty uncomfortable cramping for most of the day yesterday. I'm assuming it's just everything starting to stretch etc. and nothing I need to be worried about.

@Okapi99 Sorry to hear that you're high risk for this pregancy. Hopefully the pregnancy will go smoothly and the extra appointments/scans can't be a bad thing. Try to stay positive 😊

Has anyone been suffering with insomnia? It's kicking my butt! Every night I've been waking from around 2am and have been unable to get back to sleep until the early hours (4-5am). Yesterday I had to have a nap and thinking I will today too! 🙈🥱😴

May94x · 15/10/2022 08:19

Hello everyone I’d like to (cautiously) join 😊I’m only 4+2. We unfortunately had a MMC at 12 weeks in August so I’m very anxious about this one. This is our first baby.

Only symptoms I’ve had so far are lower back pain and mood swings (I lost my rag with poor DP when he made me miss the first 10 minutes of Bake Off 😅)

DrinkingAllTheGin · 15/10/2022 09:09

@B1993 yes to insomnia.
For me it's 4am to 5am that I wake up.
I have had naps after work most evenings!

CaliGirl47 · 15/10/2022 09:11

@Tawny2022 I spoke to my GP and she said she would refer me to my local midwife team. About a week later I got a call on a Sunday afternoon🧐 asking me to come for blood work. She said they were so busy they had people working Sundays just to cover a special clinic. And when I inquired about a booking appointment she said they’re so backlogged it would probably be around the 10 week mark. So they were just arranging bloodwork. I tried registering for my pregnancy notes but it’s not applicable in my area unfortunately.

I know what you mean about the fatigue. I’m ready for a nap most afternoons 😆 @B1993 I had insomnia a couple of weeks ago. I’d wake up every morning around 2 am like clockwork. But I haven’t had it recently. Maybe it’s due to fluctuating hormones? Hopefully it eases off for you so you can get some rest. We need all the rest we can get before the sleepless newborn nights come 😅😵‍💫😴

Congratulations on your rainbow baby! 🌈🤰🏻✨
@May94x Welcome. 🤗

haha rock’n’roll 🤘 @DrinkingAllTheGin 😆 Sounds like the perfect circumstances for some tv binging and lots of naps.

I also seem to have picked up my DD’s cough 🤧😩 any remedies around for colds during pregnancy? I’ve just been having honey and lemon.🍋🍯 But really hoping I can shift it. My body has enough going on as it is. Thankfully my lateral flow was negative. I’ve had covid before but the idea of having it in pregnancy made me feel scared.

MrsP4 · 15/10/2022 09:18

I have an early scan booked for next Friday I'll be 7+6

I really wouldn't worry about dates too much with my daughter they changed my due date twice, I remember my dates gave me a due date of the 22nd Jan they then gave me 28th which then changed again to 24th. I had a 4D scan later on in pregnancy a private one and the lady said she measured me three days ahead of what the NHS said which gave me 21st Jan she was born on the 20th 🤣 it was anyone guess tbh. I had to have growth scans with my first as my BMI was on the low side and I never carried big at all but she was 7lb4 born. Hoping for the same again.

I know I'm jumping the gun and it's early days but is anyone going to find out the sex? We had a surprise first time round but we're gonna find out this time as we said we only want two and we want to experience both. Gonna have an early gender scan and let my daughter open something on Christmas morning ❤️

Tawny2022 · 15/10/2022 09:24

@CaliGirl47 i hope you get it soon. Mine will be at 9.5 weeks. I’m a bit worried as I’m older and wondered if I should be high risk under more supervision but maybe that’s wishful thinking.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 15/10/2022 09:33

I've got my covid booster this afternoon, anyone else booked it?

Confused31 · 15/10/2022 09:43

@DrinkingAllTheGin I had mine yesterday at a walk in place (& flu shot at the same time) - bit of a sore arm today but otherwise it was easy. I was a bit worried they would ask be to prove my pregnancy but they didn't!

B1993 · 15/10/2022 09:49

Congratulations @May94x!

@DrinkingAllTheGin, I wish I could nap after work but by the time we're home (which is normally around 6pm) I spend time with DS and then start evening/bedtime routine.

Luckily it's half term so I have the chance to catch up on some sleep! 😴

RE covid booster, I'm not sure if I'll be getting it. I read conflicting information about it NOT being recommended in pregnancy. I've had lots of text reminders through but will discuss it with my midwife when I see her. I did have my flu jab at work on Wednesday though.

@CaliGirl47 I'm hoping it stops soon! Sometimes it's waking to pee and other times I just wake up wide awake. My son's not been sleeping too well either recently, so that's not helped.

My booking appointment isn't until the week after next so feel like it's a long wait for me too! I've not had any blood or anything. With my first, I'm sure I didn't until the day of my scan... maybe I'm remembering wrong though?! 🤔

I'm also suffering with a cold. Had it for 3 weeks now! 🤧 It finally seems to be easing off.

@MrsP4 Yes, we're finding out! I actually caved and bought the sneak peek blood test yesterday. Only got it because they had an offer on and you get a full refund if it's wrong so thought I might as well 🤣

I'll wait until next week to do it though as I'll be closer to 7 weeks. It does claim to be 99.9% accurate from 6 weeks though.

Babybaby66 · 15/10/2022 09:49

Morning all

@B1993 I’m suffering with insomnia too - waking every day at about 4am then getting back
yo sleep about 10 mins before my alarm goes off! Im hoping this disappears soon!

@MrsP4 im also going to find out. I’m going to have a harmony test about 10ish weeks and will ask then then. I’m an over planner and hate surprises so not sure I could wait until the end!

@DrinkingAllTheGin yep I’ve booked my covid booster as well - although made the mistake of putting in my work diary and had a colleague asking ‘why I was getting another booster’.

private appointments in the diary from now on!!

MrsP4 · 15/10/2022 09:54

@CaliGirl47

Oh wow how does that test work!? I'm intrigued now haha x

MrsP4 · 15/10/2022 09:54

@Babybaby66 What's a harmony test? I clearly haven't done my research 🤣 x

B1993 · 15/10/2022 10:03

@MrsP4, I believe the harmony test looks for chromosomal abnormalities in the foetus. You get the standard test through the NHS (if you opt to have it) but they don't confirm gender as it's not medically necessary. You can have it done privately for £200-300 and they'll also look for baby's gender.

thosethreewords · 15/10/2022 10:04

@B1993 my sleep is terrible! I wake at 3:30 every morning at the moment and usually fall back to sleep at variable points but I had the same with my first pregnancy!

B1993 · 15/10/2022 10:06

@MrsP4, I'm not sure if you were asking me about the Sneak Peek in previous question? If you were, it's an at home blood test you can buy. You send your sample back to the company's labs and they look for male dna in the mother's blood.

B1993 · 15/10/2022 10:07

@thosethreewords, I'm glad I'm not alone! Hopefully we'll both get a good nights sleep soon!! 🤞🏻😴
