I've just found out I'm expecting my second baby the first week of June 2023 - anyone else? Early days, so being cautious, but can't help feeling excited!

Did those of you just tell bosses now in order to have the ease of the time taking antenatal appointments? I had my first message from my midwife today asking a list of questions and saying she would then book me in for bloods and scan. It made it feel more real 😆 I haven't had any symptoms I feel completely normal other than no period which makes it all more surreal! But I am only 4w 5d so there is still time!

DrinkingAllTheGin · 13/10/2022 21:39

@Rose785 yes, and so she can help me avoid stress.
Otherwise it would be a few more weeks.

Mannymoomin · 13/10/2022 21:47

Hello all, hope you don’t mind me joining. I was briefly on the hoping for BFP September thread.
I thought AF arrived a few days early so didn’t actually test and that I was out until October.
Had some strange mid cycle spotting at what I thought was 2dpo today, took a test and that AF last month was obviously implantation.
Anyway, looks like I’m 5weeks and 5days

nearly fell off the toilet in shock, we only decided to ttc the day before we dtd and that was the only time we dtd

@DrinkingAllTheGin when is your baby due?

@Mannymoomin congratulations! It's the best feeling!

Mannymoomin · 13/10/2022 22:01

@Rose785 I’m not sure I quite believe it yet.
To be honest I feel a bit of a tit, me and Dh dtd this month and waiting to test, and telling my Dh when af arrived last month.
Hes still at work so he doesn’t know yet, not sure he’ll believe the test either 😂
after having 3 babies already you’d think I’d know when I’m pregnant

Thank you so much xx

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 13/10/2022 22:10

@Mannymoomin Congrats! Will be a lovely surprise for your DH!

I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and I've just made a big bowl of salty pasta. I am hungry all the time but can barely eat for the horrendous toothache so plain, soft, salty pasta had helped.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 13/10/2022 22:13

@Rose785 June 11th.
I had a loss last year and the due date would have been June 10th this year.
I blame /thank our honeymoon hotel that we revisited for our anniversary this year! Pregnant after both stays!

Ally1992 · 14/10/2022 07:50

Hello all 😊 can I join? Currently 5 weeks and an estimated due date of 11th June. Woke up this morning feeling the worst so far, headache on one side of my head and feel like I’m on the verge of throwing up ☹️ Anyone else experiencing this?

Aly1316 · 14/10/2022 07:59

Hi@Ally1992 congratulations!
my due date is 7th and I can relate, Monday was my peak day, headache and nausea most of the day, threw up in my mouth loads and had to run off every 10-20 mins until after lunch!
It seems to have eased off a lot since then though instead of feeling sick most of the time I’m just getting random waves a few times a day.
so there is hope, kind of 😂

tigerlily0 · 14/10/2022 08:07

@Mannymoomin I'm the same, we only had one time where we dtd without anything (tmi sorry) just as a 'ok if it's meant to be it will be'. And it was! I didn't believe it. With my other 2 I knew straight away even when I conceived I just knew and could feel it. Probably because we knew we were actively trying then. This has shocked me tbh! Due date is 3rd June

Ally1992 · 14/10/2022 08:13

I told my manager this week and I’m 5 weeks but I’m a type 1 diabetic and will have appointments every 2-4 weeks so didn’t want to lie about where I’m going. Also has made it easier when I feel like rubbish and can ask to work from home 🙂

Ally1992 · 14/10/2022 08:16

@Aly1316 thank you, congratulations to you as well! That’s good to know! I used to get very bad menstrual migraines so thought I was saying goodbye to them for a while but nope 😅

B1993 · 14/10/2022 08:44

@Rose785 I won't be telling my head for a while - in fact I'm hoping that I can hold off until the new year. Antenatal appointments haven't been an issue for me as I've been able to schedule them on my days off/during half term so don't need the time off of work. I'll see when they give me my next scan date, as I feel like that would be a bit of nightmare to reschedule. I will also mention to my midwife that my days off would be preferred fir any appointments and see if it makes a difference.

@Mannymoomin Congrats! 🥳 Have you managed to tell your husband now, was he as shocked as you?!

@Ally1992 congrats! 🥳 I'm getting mild nausea but not had the feeling that I've needed to be sick yet. With my first, I could count on my hand how many time I felt nauseous the entire pregnancy. I'm thinking it just doesn't effect me as much as other people 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️ That, and I'm thinking I'm having another boy 💙💙

Mannymoomin · 14/10/2022 11:25

Thank you so much everyone!

Yes have now told DH, he didn’t sleep much with excitement, well so he says.
Personally, I think he couldn’t sleep as is head was so massive with his over inflated ego 😂

@Fredthespider it's good that you have someone to share the journey with 💜

I think it's generally best to follow your gut in regards to telling people. There's no right or wrong.

@theodora2146 It's great that you're remaining postive! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for next weeks scan 🤞🏻

I did a test yesterday and today and both have come back with very strong positives! So fingers crossed 🤞🏼

@theodora2146 Hopefully it's a good sign that all is well! 🤞🏻 They're clear dye stralers so your hCG levels must be pretty high!

VesperLindt · 14/10/2022 14:03

Saw my baby and it’s heartbeat today! No better feeling! Signed off from EPU now and back into normal system. Feeling unbelievably sick and really struggling with work 😩

Algor1thm · 14/10/2022 14:21

Hi everyone 😊 Had my scan which showed one baby (thank god for that 😂), in the uterus with a little heartbeat. She did say I'm not as far along as I thought but that can't possibly be true, because the date she gave me would have had me testing positive before implantation which isn't possible, but trying not to let that worry me. As tenths of millimetres can change dates at this point, I'm just going to assume it was a slight measuring inaccuracy. Now we'll have to see if I can wait until the 12 week scan without paying for a private one... I get a bit addicted 😬

In other news, I'm suffering really badly with nausea and vomiting. I'm on strong medication and I feel like it's not really doing anything. I feel so down about it 😔 I know it's not that long in the greater scheme of things, but also it feels like a long way to go.

Hi everyone so lovely to see Evan photos already! Congrats to the newbies and your BFPS

I have an early scan booked for next Friday so hopefully all is well, I don't feel any different just feel normal, boobs have been really sore mainly first thing in the morning and at night but other than that I'm ok. Can't wait for the scan next week I feel like the first 12 weeks draggggg!!

Rose785 · 14/10/2022 14:31

@Algor1thm what did the scan date you as? Can you share a pic? I am thinking I will pay private for an early scan but wondering when to do it, I don't want to do it too early that I don't see a heartbeat. I am thinking the 8 week mark what does everyone else think?

Tinkerbell098 · 14/10/2022 14:34

Hi everyone, has anyone done a hCG blood test following a BFP on a home test? I am 5 weeks today, and had bloods done yesterday, which was quite low and corresponds with the faint tests I've been getting at home. So extremely worried.

B1993 · 14/10/2022 15:02

@Algor1thm Exactly the same for me RE scan dates. I was dated at 5-6 weeks. I was tracking ovulation and got an early positive (8DPO) so know it’s impossible that I’m less that 6 weeks as I’d have needed to test positive on ovulation day or there abouts. Plus I got my 3+ on CB a week ago now so doubt that would come up at only 4 weeks! It was still a huge relief that I saw a strong heartbeat so holding onto that. I was also told that early scans can be out by around 5 days due to dealing with tenths of millimetres so the 12 week scan will (hopefully) line up with my dates.

@Rose785 You’re likely to see a heartbeat at 7 weeks but 8 weeks is when the baby starts to look less like a blob haha!

Try not to worry @Tinkerbell098! There’s a huge range of normal when it comes to HCG. As long as it’s roughly doubling, there’s no reason to think things aren’t progressing. Do you have another blood draw to check?

I personally have no idea what my HCG is because I’ve not been offered any tests (I did get a 3+ on CBD last week but they aren’t exactly scientific).

Rose785 · 14/10/2022 15:05

@B1993 ha ha ha! Thanks, I am def going to book one as I think it will just help me with all these anxious thoughts I am having which I am sure we all have had in these early weeks!

NalaNana · 14/10/2022 16:04

Glad to hear you saw your baby + heartbeat @Algor1thm!

I have been feeling a few twinges the last couple of days (6+5 today) and had about 10 minutes of cramping earlier that felt about as painful as period pains. No idea what's going on, no spotting or anything 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have a tendency to catastrophise every little niggle but my boobs are still very sore and I'm still feeling sick so trying not to worry unless something changes.
