I found out I was pregnant a couple of days ago.

i had a miscarriage about 4 years ago and have since had a successful pregnancy who is my gorgeous DS.

but now I’m pregnant again I have SO much anxiety, I’m terrified of miscarrying.

how do you reassure yourself to calm down? I feel like my head goes completely out of control!

Just had my 12 week scan and all fine and healthy 🥰🥰 I mentioned about the fluid again after yesterdays hospital trip and she said it seems fine 🥰

I had my booking in appointment today. Feels a bit more real now I have my folder and 12 week scan date

@Sprinklerainbows omg someone else said boy! Maybe you're on to something!!

xalexandra · 07/10/2022 12:37

@Sprinklerainbows oh how exciting! I feel like once you have that 12 week scan date, it comes around so quickly!

Sprinklerainbows · 07/10/2022 12:40

@xalexandra It’s the nub looks high up but I’m no expert by any means 🤣 I have a boy and it’s the best!

yes it’s in November so a bit of a wait but luckily have that 8 week one in between.

i spoke to them about my anxiety and she said if it continues past the 12 week mark she’ll put me in contact with the mental health midwife which tbh I welcome, I’m pretty certain I had prenatal anxiety last time the whole way through

8 weeks is a great time to have a scan because I feel like its not too long before the 12 week mark so feels like not too much could go wrong in that time and anything later is so close to the 12 week mark anyway and anything less seems like a bit longer to wait!

They offered the same to me because I suffer with depression and anxiety and I was unsure on the spot, she basically said do you you think having a mental health midwife is something you might need? And I just replied with, "erm I don't really know" as she is so lovely so now I've met her, I'd like to keep her. But the anxiety I've suffered already just from these 12 weeks has been quite bad, and then when my first baby comes a long - maybe it'll be overwhelming for me just because I already suffer with mental health. But to be fair, she did say I don't need to decide now, I can decide later on and sort it out whenever. I'm guessing a mental health midwife just gives you a bit more support?

Sprinklerainbows · 07/10/2022 13:10

@xalexandra yes I’m hoping it will give me one last boost before the 12 week scan which I’d always nerve wracking. I don’t plan on announcing at 12 weeks though, we waiting until 20 with my son and I think I’ll do the same again this time (all being well)

yes so from what I understood it’s a separate midwife that you can call ect but you’ll also have your community midwife too. I wish I’d had one last pregnancy, if there’s anything to make the anxiety better I’d take it 🤣 xx

@Sprinklerainbows I'm thinking of waiting till 20 weeks too, gender scan time! I've told my parents and best friend so I'm not desperate to tell anyone else, maybe when I start showing and the anxiety of something bad happening kind of disappears!

Oh really, I didn't know that. That sounds quite useful then actually, I might have to do that! I'm the kind of person that always needs reassurance 😂

Sprinklerainbows · 07/10/2022 16:29

@xalexandra yes exactly! All awful things ruled out at the 20 week scan and you’ll have to gender too. It was so nice to announce both at the same time, no one questioning what we want ‘boy or girl?’ 🤣

yes do it! I deffo think anything that can help is worth accepting

@Cassarat how’re you feeling now? Has your brown discharge stopped?

im unsettled today, sometimes I find the days after a scan worse, I feel reassured only periodically. I’m worried by the baby still measuring a week behind even though I thought I might be a little behind. Feeling a bit crampy the last couple of days too. Ugh when will my mind stop torturing me 😩🤦🏼‍♀️

@Sprinklerainbows maybe even the dating may be wrong by what they've scanned already, as you get further along they will be able to give you a more accurate date so it might even change! Xx

Cassarat · 08/10/2022 21:41

@Sprinklerainbows Hey! I haven’t caught up on this chat, it’s gone sooo quickly for me! So I hope everyone is okay!
my discharge has stopped thankfully! Still have a nausea feeling all day and if I’m not eating I feel worst. Also it’s already uncomfortable to lay on my side at night, makes me feel so sick! How’re you? Xx

Sprinklerainbows · 09/10/2022 09:00

@xalexandra yes, I did read that when they are that tiny it’s near impossible to get an accurate measurement! Also it was trans abdominal so that’s less clear compared to a trans vaginal at this stage (this is how I’ve comforted myself)

@Cassarat oh thank goodness! That’s good you haven’t been sick still, but nausea is horrible 😩
I’ve been so so sick the last couple of days, not one thing stayed down yesterday. I basically sleep from when my partner gets home from work 😅 xx

OP posts:
xalexandra · 09/10/2022 09:08

@Cassarat I can't lay on my side either so uncomfortable 😣

@Sprinklerainbows even at my 12 week scan the baby was curled up and I had to roll around and I saw the arms and legs start kicking but she said I had to do that so she could get an accurate measurement because they just can't when they're curled up! Xx

Sprinklerainbows · 09/10/2022 19:36

@xalexandra yes I mean if 0.1 of a millimetre makes a difference then I guess I can understand why they are unreliable. I remember I had 2 12 week scans because during the first my little one had his chin tucked in and she just couldn’t get the measurements no matter what we tried 🤣

Hi ladies, hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread… I should be a similar date to some of you and I’m struggling loads after a miscarriage in August so thought it was super helpful to hear your stories..

I can’t help but feel I already know the outcome.. I’ve been having brown discharge for a good week, I feel like my symptoms have lessened too (boobs less sore/swollen)!

Lovely to hear that you’ve had positive scans and all of the odds are in your favour now :)

Xx

xalexandra · 10/10/2022 08:42

@Blueskies4 Hi lovely! Please try and stay positive 🙏🏼 a reassuring piece of info which I mentioned before which definitely helped me after I had a few days of brown discharge - is that brown usually means old blood. The boob symptoms are always so up and down.

How many weeks are you? Sending you positive thoughts xx

Blueskies4 · 10/10/2022 09:11

Thank you lovely. I’m 6+1 - I have a days AL next Wednesday so I’m planning on booking a private scan so I know where I am. Trying to stay away from the Clear Blue Digitals in the meantime! x

xalexandra · 10/10/2022 09:18

@Blueskies4 that private scan will give you the sense of relief you need as nerve racking it is to go to one, you will walk out of there and be so glad you went!

Sprinklerainbows · 10/10/2022 10:54

@Blueskies4 welcome!!! We all completely understand how you feel don’t worry!
defiantly get that scan one you see the baby it will help relax you for a little while.

try not to worry about the discharge, brown normally isn’t any thing to worry about xx

Blueskies4 · 11/10/2022 21:54

Thanks for your support ladies.

It’s not looking good ladies - quite a bit of bleeding today (like a period).. Working away as well so going to take a test when I’m back Thursday morning I think x

Sprinklerainbows · 11/10/2022 23:06

@Blueskies4 im so sorry! Sending so much love. I’ve heard stories of those with big bleeds with positive outcomes however i understand why you are preparing for the worst.

What an awful situation to be away from home too 💔

How is everyone doing?

i feel like the most boring person ever atm. I’m so exhausted, my poor son must be so bored all I want to do is sleep. My sickness is mainly in the evening now, like how it was to begin with so a bit more manageable (especially since loosing a stone in weight 😳)

hope everyone is doing well x

Cassarat · 15/10/2022 13:47

@Sprinklerainbows Hey! I’ve been a huge mong the past few weeks tbh, just sitting around on the sofa feeling sorry for myself. The nausea starts around 7pm and last until the morning. Feeling like I’m going to be sick constantly and never do! It’s infuriating. I’ve booked a private scan for Monday at 2 as I just can’t go from 7-12 weeks with no reassurance that everything is ok!
how’re you? X
