@Tropicana1 nothing yet but actually now I think of it, I'm fairly sure I did have reflux in my first trimester! It went away in my second, and reappeared with a vengeance in the third 🙃

@Emsinmonaco2022 read on the pregnancy sickness support website there is lots of information about all the different anti-sickness medications.

The birth defect fear is a hang over from when mothers were given thalidomide many years ago... times have obviously changed a lot and medical science has advanced.

Part of the reason I stopped posting on these threads is another poster making a comment about not taking any anti-sickness as they don't want to risk birth defects. The medications that are given out now have been used safely for years.

Sickness can be debilitating, unless you've been there it's hard to judge. I feel around pregnancy and childbirth there really is a "put up and shut up" attitude towards women. We shouldn't feel guilty for doing what we need to do. Sickness can make us severely unwell which also isn't good for baby- trust me I've been vomiting up blood regularly and last pregnancy I was hospitalised.

I'm on prochlorperazine which doesn't seem to help much.

Don't feel bad for doing what you need to do, there's lots of information out there and I highly recommend contacting pregnancy sickness support for both reassurance and support x

Thank you so much really appreciate your message x

Question for those of you with toddlers, when and how do you plan on telling them they are going to be a sibling?
DD is almost 3 and very observant, I'm pretty sure she knows somethings up especially with me being so sick the past few weeks, we're usually very open with her and DH can't wait to tell her but I'm not sure if it's just a bit soon. I'm not sure I want to flip her world upside down yet and am already feeling very guilty that she's going to have to share us.
At the same time we plan on telling close family when we see them this weekend and i feel a bit odd about not telling her first.

Wouldloveanother · 26/08/2022 21:23

Im not telling my 3 year old until after the 20 week scan. She would be confused if I told her she’s having a brother or sister only for something to happen, and she doesn’t get one. Times like an animal at this age. They don’t really understand it, nor will they have any concept of other people knowing, so you can hold off as long as you feel necessary Smile

Lunabun · 26/08/2022 21:40

@Theowlwhowasafraid I've just realised my due date is the 23rd not the 27th like I told you... I got mixed up as I have a family member's birthday on the 27th 🤣 so not nearly due date twins after all

@Wisher88 no clue tbh but I did get pregnant in the first actual cycle I had after giving birth! And we only had sex once 🤣 so maybe there is some truth to that! I got pregnant fairly quickly first time, but not quite as quick. We did a few months of vaguely trying and then one cycle we decided to track ovulation, and that's the cycle I got pregnant

Ginmonkey84 · 26/08/2022 21:50

Just found the thread and adding myself in. Apologies I haven’t been active very much, I have been reading and keeping up as best I can but I feel absolutely hideous with nausea and sickness I really have nothing positive to say so I would just be moaning all the time and not contributing very much, hiding until I get through the other side!!

Have my NIPT booked for the 10th. Im hoping by that stage things will have started to settle down. Sending lots of love to everyone x

ancienthouse · 26/08/2022 22:33

@Wisher88 I conceived my DD pretty easily but then had secondary infertility after her and it's taken a while to conceive a second (hopefully!). I think it's just different for everyone.

Willbe2under2 · 27/08/2022 05:49

Hi all, congratulations on your pregnancies! Can I join you all? I found out last night I'm expecting #2 at (I think) the end of April. Still hasn't quite sunk in yet... 1 year to conceive #1, 10 minutes for #2 😆

LauraA31 · 27/08/2022 05:59

Morning ladies.
does anybody know about volterol in pregnancy?

long story short for years i have suffered with shoulder pain leading into my arm, the only thing that takes the ache away is volterol.
mum has fibromyalgia and she has the same aches and pains as me, hers started this way.

For the last three days ive had an ache in my shoulder blade running through my shoulder into my arm. It is always worse if i wear tight clothing on my shoulders, for the past couple of days ive been wearing a new sports bra that has put a bit of strain on my left shoulder and then the aches started.

Im 5+3 so naturally worried as i have read any shoulder pain can indicate an ectopic, but for me this pain is normal and happens every month. The pain only hasn’t gone yet as i haven’t used volterol which normally works.. I am planning on ringing the GP on monday but until then, does anybody know how to keep the aches at bay/or if volterol can be used? Ive read conflicting views online so thought best to ask and not use yet!

3rdtimelucky2022 · 27/08/2022 06:24

www.medicinesinpregnancy.org/Medicine--pregnancy/Diclofenac/

i use this website as find it helpful at explaining the risks. Voltarol contains diclofenac. It’s a gel so less absorption than tablets but personally I wouldn’t risk it! I would stick to paracetamol and maybe try and get some Physio?

Wouldloveanother · 27/08/2022 06:35

Morning folks! Is anyone else awake and unable to go back to sleep? I think DD will wake up at any moment so reluctant to even try to be honest. The sickness seems to have eased off a bit this morning, hoping I can enjoy that without it being a ‘bad’ sign!

AliceinSlumberland · 27/08/2022 07:29

Morning! I always wake up early now @Wouldloveanother, bit annoying as I’m off work for two weeks so could have some lovely lie ins!!

@LauraA31 i don’t know about that particular drug but I pulled my neck this week and it was honestly one of the most painful things I’ve experienced - up there with bursting my ear drum. I was desperate for some decent painkillers but didn’t want to risk it so I used a combo of icing it and a hot water bottle on it which has helped and I’m pretty much back ti normal now.

I’m at the point now where my boobs are hurting when I walk along even with my bra on for support. Wondering if I should get a more sports bra type thing? But don’t want them squished down really as feel like that would be painful too.

Theowlwhowasafraid · 27/08/2022 07:59

@Willbe2under2 same here haha literally the exact same story. How are you feeling? I was really panicked and overwhelmed and still am really!

Theowlwhowasafraid · 27/08/2022 08:04

@AliceinSlumberland maybe a nursing bra? They are so comfy, or m&s do lovely sports bras that don’t squish!

Willbe2under2 · 27/08/2022 08:10

@Theowlwhowasafraid haha! It's crazy isn't it - I mentioned to my husband earlier in the week that I thought I might be late - I wasn't tracking anything we weren't ttc - and he was like it's not going to happen after one time 😆. It's not really sunk in yet. No big symptoms except tiredness (which I'd actually put down to #1 going through a sleep regression), but I'm not overly surprised about that as I didn't have many with my first. Not panicking yet, though a bit nervous about telling work. I've not even gone back yet! She'll be 20 months when this one comes.

How are you feeling?

Theowlwhowasafraid · 27/08/2022 08:15

@Willbe2under2 same! My daughter will be 20 months too, I’m due back in two weeks and I think I’ll just hold off as long as possible before telling work I think, I mean i read the policy and you only have to be back a month before going off again haha I also have 30 days annual leave to take 😂 they’re going to hate me.

yeah no symptoms really here yet, just tired but my DD is into everything now so thought it was from chasing her, but of backache and a little bit of nausea but not too much.

chasingtherainbow1 · 27/08/2022 08:19

Anyone experience spotting after sex? I had the tiniest amount of blood, like 1-2 drops when I wiped after dtd last night. Clear this morning but still panicking. We've only dtd twice since o found out I was pregnant 4 weeks ago because we've just been a bit paranoid after mcs

Willbe2under2 · 27/08/2022 08:28

@Theowlwhowasafraid I'm back in 2 weeks too! My new manager (I'm staying in the same company just different roles) seems nice so hoping he won't take it too badly - he has 3 himself so probably won't be too surprised. I have loads of leave too but hoping they let me carry a chunk over so using that and next years allowance I'm planning on staying full time but take one day a week of leave. At least I know that - all being well - I'll only be back for a few months!

I can hardly keep up with my little one now... let alone in a few months! Short term pain for long term gain right?!

Theowlwhowasafraid · 27/08/2022 08:36

@Willbe2under2 thats a great idea! I asked to compress my hours going back but they said no, tbh I’m quite happy about going back and being like welllllll I’m off again in like 6 months so sucks to be you guys haha but I think I’ll def carry some over and book like a day a week off for a few months.

will you have a private scan? We did last time and I think we’ll maybe book for a couple of weeks all being well? I haven’t self referred to the midwife yet or anything, all feels a bit too real!

Willbe2under2 · 27/08/2022 08:47

@Theowlwhowasafraid haha! We didn't have a private scan last time and not sure we will this time either, part of me would like the reassurance, but part of me thinks I should just wait.

Getting back in the system again will make it seem so much more real! I can feel the early pregnancy worry coming back to me now where I question every twinge.

Willbe2under2 · 27/08/2022 08:55

@Theowlwhowasafraid argh! I've just realised I need to reduce my caffeine 😭bye bye huge morning coffee...

LauraA31 · 27/08/2022 09:02

@AliceinSlumberland i think im going to do the same, ive always suffered with this pain and if i used volterol it went within a day but i don’t want to risk anything.
My boobs are the same, they hurt all the time now. I am wearing a soft style sports bra which don’t pull them in or compress them too much. I think I got the wrong size because the straps are pulling my shoulders.

Might order myself a wheat bag on amazon haha!

IvyAurora · 27/08/2022 09:06

@LauraA31 hi from the last thread, these threads move so quickly I can't keep up! We've got similar due dates (23 April) and both first pregnancy if I remember correctly?

And @Lunabun - v similar due date also! Hello :)

Hope everyone is ok today and I'm sorry to hear of the stress and upset from several posters. It's a roller coaster isn't it.

My main symptoms at the moment are fatigue and breast tenderness. I need to get some new bras asap but I don't want to spend loads and just grow out of them in a week! But the pain of them being unsupported is quite intense.

I'm also feeling very slow-brained but sort of enjoying it! I'm usually a worrier but I just don't have the headspace to think about much.

Interested to hear others experience of Harmony blood tests but also v conscious of the never ending costs Confused

I can't help being scared to have sex even though I know there's no need to be. Shame as I fancy it Shock

LauraA31 · 27/08/2022 09:08

@IvyAurora hello! Yeah we are pretty close, im 26th April according to NHS.. we have our private scan on 11th where im estimated to be 7+2 so we shall find out the exact there 😅
