@Theowlwhowasafraid @Lunabun
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought 2 under 2 was a good idea! my son is 11 months and having a bad week which is making me and my partner freak out abit... but I do think it will be a nice age gap as they grow up.

I didn't even think about double buggies!

RabbitJungle · 26/08/2022 17:46

Thanks @Leanne053! Great idea - and the thermometer will come in handy down the line too 😊

Lunabun · 26/08/2022 17:56

@RabbitJungle I love a bath but didn't have one at all whilst pregnant last time because I got so paranoid about the temperature (don't worry, I did shower instead 😂). I'm going to try and relax a little more this time round lol

@YellowTreeHouse that was my exact logic too - my son is the clingiest baby ever and a terrible sleeper. I figured get it all over and done with 🤣

@GeorgiePorge yes don't worry, it will pay off in the long run... I'm hoping 🤣😬

@Theowlwhowasafraid I can count the times we used my son's infant car seat on one hand before he outgrew it 🙃 so it does mean we've got that available at least. The good thing about two under two is that at least you've still got all that newborn stuff ready!

Theowlwhowasafraid · 26/08/2022 18:08

@GeorgiePorge yay! Congratulations! 2 under 2 will be lovely as they’ll grow up together and hopefully be very close and share interests etc. I mean they might not but hey! I only looked as my daughter is quite lazy and I wouldn’t want her to not have the option of a pram but I don’t know how much it’ll get used as she’ll be in nursery during the day.

@RabbitJungle yess the thermometer will be so useful! I loved a bath last time, especially in the final stages, so relaxing!

@Lunabun yes that’s true! We unfortunately have a 360 car seat for my daughter so she will need that still. I might just get another 360 as I found it really useful, I have a nuna pushchair at the moment so could get a car seat compatible with that maybe? I would take that pram when it was just me and baby and then the double when it’s all of us. And the dog! Things are going to get very busy hahahaha (help me)

Ladies, what temp are you running your baths at? All I see online is advice not to have a 'hot' bath and instead aim for a 'warm' bath... but no guidance on what that means in practice😕

I haven't posted since I first joined but have been keeping an eye on the chat on and off. I'm 6+1 (or 6+3, depending on due date calculator 🤔), and the only symptoms I have are mildly sore boobs, some tiredness and irritability - can definitely relate to those of you saying you have been snapping at your OH 🙈 And I decided to book an early scan for 7+5 in the end.

I’m still having baths! I feel miserable with the sickness so decided not to deprive myself of a nice soak. Standing up in the shower makes me feel ill anyway. I’m just running them a tiny bit cooler than normal - 37ish maybe? I don’t run them deep enough to submerge my stomach anyway 🛁

Skylark1990 · 26/08/2022 18:49

Last time my midwife said not to worry too much about baths. As long as you don't run them scorching hot, even a hot bath will be cooling down as soon as it's been run (that's the diff with hot tubs, they are kept at a hot temp) due to the air temperature etc. So I still had them fairly warm/ hot but not like super duper hot and after five mins they'd cooled down. I didn't have loads of baths. 37 is basically cold imo hahah when I did actually test it once I think it was like 39? Can't quite remember now... but yes it starts cooling as soon as it's hit the room!

Argh my DH is frying mushrooms and it's revolting 🤢😅

Skylark1990 · 26/08/2022 18:51

All this being said I haven't actually had a bad yet this time round... Been too hot!
I reckon like 38 would be a good temp, not too hot, not Luke warm.

I remember my birth pool had to be body temp so 37. But that's so baby doesn't get a shock when they're born.

@Theowlwhowasafraid I'm due 27th❤️ congratulations on your BFP! This would be my first baby 🤞

Wisher88 · 26/08/2022 18:58

Those of you who have had your babies in close succession, do you think this is because of being more fertile just after giving birth? Or did you get pregnant quickly first time too?
I ask as I'll be 34 when I have baby 1 next April l, so if I go for a baby 2 I would be age 35+ so I already plan to jump straight on it next year 😂

KennAdams · 26/08/2022 19:10

@Wisher88 I think in my case that's definitely true. I found out I was pregnant with DC3 when DC2 was 8 weeks old.

Not sure I'd recommend that much of a close age gap. 😮

There's about two weeks of the year where they are both the same age. 🙈

GeorgiePorge · 26/08/2022 19:23

@Wisher88 I'm very lucky in that I've fallen pregnant 'at the first go' each time round... thinking it would take a lot longer.

however I have read that you can fall quite easily in the first few months after pregnancy... my periods didnt start back untill 6-7 months (I'm BF) so it sure that would have been possible for me even if I was trying that early.

Theowlwhowasafraid · 26/08/2022 19:30

@Wisher88 it took us 18 months and one miscarriage for my daughter, my periods returned when she was about 8months old and I’ve only had 3 and here we are 😂 I definitely think you’re more fertile after a baby and your body kind of knows what to do.

@KennAdams oh wow 8 months! Was it easier going from 1 to 2? I love your username btw

lj2022 · 26/08/2022 19:31

Hi everyone, hoping it's okay to join! Hope you are all keeping well in these early stages. I'm due baby number 1 in April and still in a bit of shock estimated 7w 3d. So far I'm not too unwell and just really tired and bouts of nausea, was sick for the first time today but hoping it just stays to 1 time a day. I have an early scan booked on Thursday for some reassurance as I feel it's hard to get excited when you don't really know what's going on in there so 🤞that everything is okay. So nice to find a thread where everyone will be at the same stage of pregnancy together

Wouldloveanother · 26/08/2022 19:43

Oh and I’ve found something that makes me feel a bit less sick if anyone wants to try it - lying flat on the sofa, cushion under head and putting my left leg up on the back of the sofa (weirdly it doesn’t work as well as the right). It makes a noticeable difference for me! Currently sat with my leg up drinking lemonade waiting for my cheese toastie to be done 😂

Longbin · 26/08/2022 19:43

@Wisher88 I didn't fall pregnant after birth and I haven't been using contraception. I took clomid to conceive when my daughter was 15 months. It's so hard to tell because some people are always fine, others struggle and then suddenly fall pregnant soon after birth and others have secondary infertility and only struggle after birth.

Wouldloveanother · 26/08/2022 19:44

Congrats Lj 🎉 I’m 7+2 so you’re 1 day ahead of me!

Wouldloveanother · 26/08/2022 19:46

My story is that I was lucky enough to fall pregnant with DD first attempt, second time round it took 2 (still very grateful). But that was nearly 4 years later! There’s probably some truth that it’s easier to get pregnant straight after a baby compared with a few years down the line because you’re younger IYSWIM? If you wait another few years to try again, you’ll be a few years older, so it’s likely to take longer? But maybe I’m also talking rubbish 😂

Well, over halfway through first trimester 🥳 can’t finish soon enough tbh.

MummyOfBoys2022 · 26/08/2022 19:58

Hi, everyone just came across this thread, I'm 7 weeks today going by my dates after having a miscarriage in June

KennAdams · 26/08/2022 20:00

@Theowlwhowasafraid well I already had a 4 year old DD. So I went to 3 pretty quickly.

It was all a bit of a blur!

Emsinmonaco2022 · 26/08/2022 20:04

Hi everyone - I'm due April 19! Serious nausea... 24/7 and sick a few times now a day. I've been prescribed Caliban, does anyone know it? I'm so scared of Birth defects - how do I get over this and just take the medicine? Help! And nice to meet everyone - I've felt so alone these last 3 weeks xx

Tropicana1 · 26/08/2022 20:05

Anyone else got really bad heartburn / acid reflux? I don't remember getting it like this in the first trimester last time. Had it awfully in the 3rd trimester and went on omeprazole in the end, but probably my biggest symptom right now is the reflux

Wouldloveanother · 26/08/2022 20:05

I just googled caliban and got an absolute fright 😱

Emsinmonaco2022 · 26/08/2022 20:07

I mean Cariban 🤣🤣🤣

MummyOfBoys2022 · 26/08/2022 20:30

@Tropicana1 I've been having really bad heartburn already never had it in the first trimester

limoncelloo · 26/08/2022 20:32

@Emsinmonaco2022 read on the pregnancy sickness support website there is lots of information about all the different anti-sickness medications.

The birth defect fear is a hang over from when mothers were given thalidomide many years ago... times have obviously changed a lot and medical science has advanced.

Part of the reason I stopped posting on these threads is another poster making a comment about not taking any anti-sickness as they don't want to risk birth defects. The medications that are given out now have been used safely for years.

Sickness can be debilitating, unless you've been there it's hard to judge. I feel around pregnancy and childbirth there really is a "put up and shut up" attitude towards women. We shouldn't feel guilty for doing what we need to do. Sickness can make us severely unwell which also isn't good for baby- trust me I've been vomiting up blood regularly and last pregnancy I was hospitalised.

I'm on prochlorperazine which doesn't seem to help much.

Don't feel bad for doing what you need to do, there's lots of information out there and I highly recommend contacting pregnancy sickness support for both reassurance and support x
