@Chocolat I'm exactly the same, panicking about MMC today! Think I'm just nervous as haven't got any nausea/sickness still (8+3 today) and have had some painful stabbing pains on my low left side. Very tired constantly though and sore boobs still. I'm also going to wait for my NHS scan although it is so hard 😣

Chocolat · 05/09/2022 14:09

@alwaysseeingstars I hate the uncertainty and the constant worrying! I felt nauseous between 7-9 weeks but wasn’t sick. Also expected more. I do keep getting pains too but usually if I’m stretched and laugh/cough lol.
Nice to know I’m not the only one waiting for the NHS scan, hang in there! But yeah It’s really hard 😢

alwaysseeingstars · 05/09/2022 14:23

@Chocolat it's amazing how differently people experience pregnancy, isn't it! Is this your first? I'm now expecting horrific symptoms for the rest of the pregnancy, or for this constant exhaustion to never go away haha! I know, my DH keeps saying 'well you're not bleeding and in pain so it must be fine' ah, if only it were that simple. Just had my scan through actually, 4th Oct so will be 12+4 😊

Chocolat · 05/09/2022 14:27

@alwaysseeingstars it certainly is and part of me is trying to be grateful for not being bed ridden and unable to eat! Yes it’s my first so I think this is what’s made me more worried as I thought I knew what to expect but clearly wrong haha.

haha DHs think about it more logically I think, mine is the same 😅.
Ah that’s good you’ve got your scan booked in! Is it your first?

ancienthouse · 05/09/2022 14:28

I'm so very fed up of the nausea now. I'm throwing up half of what I manage to eat, I've lost about 6lbs in 2 weeks. My stomach hurts all day long and I can't do anything other than lie down. I can't watch TV in case there's a scene with food that makes me retch. It's so bloody miserable!! And I'm being a terrible parent to my DD, my DH is having to do everything.
I'm about 8w3d so still a way to go with this nausea. It eased off around 12 weeks with DD and disappeared completely at 18 weeks, but it's definitely worse this time so maybe it'll last longer.
I've got a scan tomorrow and I'm terrified it will be a MMC and I'm going through this for nothing.

alwaysseeingstars · 05/09/2022 14:43

@Chocolat yep this is my first too, so it's all very new! They do seem to, I guess they've not got all these hormones going crazy😂
@ancienthouse sorry to hear you're feeling so bad - I feel awful complaining about no morning sickness! Good luck with your scan tomorrow, let us know how you get on.

Ancient, I could’ve written your post, down to the fact I have a scan tomorrow! I too am worried the pregnancy isn’t viable, I really don’t think I can go through this again and I’ve said as much to DH. All I can keep down is toast, bananas, haribo(!) and the odd yoghurt/piece of fruit, I feel so rough and really guilty about my eating habits/lack of energy to do anything with DD/being signed off work etc. What time is your scan?

SavedByGraceAlone · 05/09/2022 15:37

Thought I'd update you lovelies on my scan today as promised.

This is our 5th pregnancy after 4 miscarriages and I've been spotting very lightly around weeks 4 and 6, with LOTS of period-like cramping and random stinging/stabbing/pulling pains pretty much everyday. Symptoms coming and going. We've been extremely worried and ready for bad news, yet remaining hopeful.

But today saw a strong heartbeat and a lovely blob looking all snug in there! It was amazing seeing this for the first time. Both DH and I just weeped.
Attaching the scan pic with his/her head upside down and the little paddles for limbs moving about 😄

Just to say, I would probably also wait until the NHS scan if it weren't for the previous recurrent MCs and the spotting/cramping.

@SavedByGraceAlone so so happy for you! What a lovely scan picture

ancienthouse · 05/09/2022 15:56

@Wouldloveanother sorry you're still feeling rubbish too. I know, I don't know if I could go through this again either. Not any time soon anyway.
My scan is at lunchtime, when's yours? Fingers crossed for both of us.

@SavedByGraceAlone lovely scan, so pleased for you!

@SavedByGraceAlone lovely scan, so pleased for you!

Mines 10am with booking appointment straight after. Hopefully it will be a nice moment to enjoy in the midst of all the sickness horror!

congrats on all the great scan news!

Skylark, from memory they tend to disregard private scans EDD and will give you a ‘new’ one when you have your 12 week scan, if you’re measuring ahead of LMP. That’s what they did with DD anyway!

Skylark1990 · 05/09/2022 16:48

Congrats @SavedByGraceAlone so so happy for you! How many weeks are you now?

@Wouldloveanother and @ancienthouse best of luck for your scans tomorrow! And sorry you are feeling so grim, I'm also feeling awful nearly all the time. Just spewed up my lunch 🤢😥 but managed to eat a raisin bagel just now and some strawberries. It's so random, sometimes I can stomach stuff I wouldn't expect, sometimes I throw it all back up, sometimes eating helps, other times it makes it worse. Am trying to snack little and often as think it kinda helps but unfortunately things like dry crackers do not appeal 🤢 toast and bananas do seem to be ok... And potatoes. I really hope this ends soon! It's so tough.

@Wouldloveanother yes expecting a new date at 12 week scan. My early scan was epau so not private so will be interesting to see if it's aligned with the 12 week one.

I just had a scan as I had some spotting and pressure in my stomach too. All was fine and the baby looked so much bigger than my scan last week and was wiggling around and moving!! Couldn't believe the difference from last week. I'm measuring 9+5 so not even close to 12 weeks yet.

DBS94 · 05/09/2022 17:39

@Longbin how long were you spotting? I'm still spotting on and off, all was fine at scan yesterday but can't help but worry! Thankfully got my first midwife appointment tomorrow so hoping I can get some insight

Longbin · 05/09/2022 17:59

@DBS94 only last night! I was luckily I got seen so quickly. They said mine was probably just hormonal where the placenta has started to kick in, as there were no internal signs of bleeding

CinderellaFant · 05/09/2022 18:01

Also feeling awful here too- nauseous and being sick on/off all day. Just had my dinner of a bowl of potatoes, all I can stomach at the minute ☹️

DBS94 · 05/09/2022 18:09

@Longbin the sonographer had a look about yesterday and said the same for me, apparently hormones are on the increase and can irritate cervix too

@CinderellaFant I'm sat on the sofa trying to eat on chip at a time. No sauce or anything

Skylark1990 · 05/09/2022 18:16

@CinderellaFant @DBS94 think it's going to be potatoes for me for dinner too.

@Longbin congrats on your scan! That's lovely! I've heard the jump from 8-9 weeks is quite big and by 9/10 weeks there's lots of see 🥰🥰 that's really nice and glad all ok x

Leanne053 · 05/09/2022 18:25

Anybody any advice for heart palpitations? I usually suffer from them on and off but use Propranolol to ease but obviously not allowed now so GP and midwife have advised! They really feel horrible and I just can't relax because of them which I know in turn makes them worse as it's all anxiety related I've always assumed! They even hindered my sleep last night. I'm doing the breathing exercises, drinking plenty and no caffeine but no help so far!

ancienthouse · 05/09/2022 18:41

@CinderellaFant I've also had potatoes for tea. Seems to be a theme today!

SavedByGraceAlone · 05/09/2022 19:07

@Skylark1990, thank you lovely, I thought I was 8 weeks today but sonographer estimated a couple of days behind at 7+5.

Thanks so much everyone for the lovely comments.

Is anyone here on/have been on heparin injections? I've also been advised today by the recurrent miscarriage specialist that in addition to aspirin to thin blood, I'll need to self-administer daily injections in the stomach. Kind of dreading it, wondering if anyone else has been through this.

Longbin · 05/09/2022 19:12

@SavedByGraceAlone thanks! I had the blood thinning injections before. The nurse came round and asked me where I wanted it, I said 'I don't mind, either arm' and she did it then told me usually people have it in their leg or stomach. It was agony so don't try it in the arm! In the stomach was fine and didn't really hurt at all but I found leg easiest. I never did it myself though as I stopped them after I left hospital. Is there anyone that could do it for you for the first few times?

ancienthouse · 05/09/2022 19:16

@SavedByGraceAlone i had heparin injections after my c section. I did them in my thigh, they didn't hurt but occasionally one would bruise.

I've been told I should have them from 28 weeks with this pregnancy now I'm older I tick just enough of the risk categories. But I'm not sure if I'll do them or not, in another trust I wouldn't have to so it doesn't seem like it's necessary to me. My midwife wasn't bothered either way.
