@SavedByGraceAlone they do sting when you administer and are a little sore for a short while after so soon fades. Can cause bruising so be sure to alternate sites daily

CinderellaFant · 05/09/2022 19:53

@SavedByGraceAlone I haven't been given the injections, I haven't even been given aspirin ☹️ wondering if I should be taking it. I am on the progesterone pessaries though.

SavedByGraceAlone · 05/09/2022 19:07

@Skylark1990, thank you lovely, I thought I was 8 weeks today but sonographer estimated a couple of days behind at 7+5.

Thanks so much everyone for the lovely comments.

Is anyone here on/have been on heparin injections? I've also been advised today by the recurrent miscarriage specialist that in addition to aspirin to thin blood, I'll need to self-administer daily injections in the stomach. Kind of dreading it, wondering if anyone else has been through this.

I'm doing inhixa injections until 12 weeks this time, which I believe is essentially the same thing as the heparin. I was SO nervous at first, but I've been doing it for about 3 weeks now and it has gotten a lot easier. DH is out of town now so I've had to do the injections by myself for a few days and even that was fine! Just recommend taking a deep breath before you do it and putting on some hardcore metal music - haha. Really pumps me up mentally for some bizarre reason 😅

I don't think it's needed for everyone, so no need to worry! 💕I just take it for my autoimmune condition (Hashimoto's) since I've got quite high antibodies in my system.

SavedByGraceAlone · 05/09/2022 20:12

Oh wow, didn't realise it was so common! I've been told to start asap (tomorrow morning) and continue until 23-26 weeks... Eeeek!! Seems such a long time.

@ballerina90 - haha love the recommendation! Well done on doing them yourself now. Where do you do it, stomach or thigh?

@Leanne053 - thank you, how long did you do yours for?

@ancienthouse - thank you, I might try the thigh if the stomach is too hard.... Somehow feels better in the thigh than right in the stomach! Did you self-administer?

@Longbin - ahh I think I'm going to have to do them myself since I'll need to keep at it for a few months. Okay, defo won't go for the arm! Were yours during pregnancy too?

Tropicana1 · 05/09/2022 20:14

@ancienthouse I'm exactly the same - could have written your post. I actually found today at work that being really busy took the edge of it for a while (was very wiped out though) but as soon as I sat down for lunch it hit again and threw it back up. Drinking a hot choc now and hoping I can get something from that, but it just tastes really "off". Was also definitely not this bad with my first and thought that was bad enough! Bananas are about all I'm managing to keep down at the moment and some Greek yogurt

@SavedByGraceAlone so pleased your scan went well! I had to do anti coagulant injections after my c section and it wasn't pleasant but was alright. Alternated sides of my tummy to spread the sting out a bit 😂

Longbin · 05/09/2022 20:14

@SavedByGraceAlone yes during pregnancy but right at the start of my first one as I was on bed rest

@CinderellaFant, I think it's more 'normal' to not have the injections or aspirin than having to 😊 From what I understand, it's only if you've got the blood clotting risk/sticky blood then you need the blood thinners. So if your doctor hasn't advised, I'd consider it a really good thing!!!

Leanne053 · 05/09/2022 20:17

@SavedByGraceAlone I had the injections for something non pregnancy related 😊

faithtrustandpixiedust · 05/09/2022 21:03

Oh what a day I've had, is anyone else feeling super emotional at the moment?

Feel like I've argued with my toddler from the minute I opened my eyes today, haven't got anything done that I'd planned to do, went into work this evening and nothing was going my way. Popped into Asda on the way home for some ready salted crisps as it's all I've felt like but they didn't have any, carrying the bag of milk back to the car and the bag split, milk everywhere. I got in the car and cried 😂 I'm off to bed hoping for a better day tomorrow!

LauraA31 · 05/09/2022 21:29

@faithtrustandpixiedust I feel the same, im so emotional and not even emotions i expected.

Yesterday the boyfriend annoyed me so much all day, he didn’t do a thing wrong but even looking at him irritated me…. I also cried a lot.
This morning i was wide awake worried that he was going to leave me and i got super upset because i wanted him to stay with me (he never ever indicated he was leaving, poor lad was at work with my texts asking if he was coming home when he finished 😂)

Then all day today ive been a mixture of annoyed with items in the house (dogs water bowl because i kicked it but it was defo the bowls fault) and then ive had moments of sitting and crying for nothing…. Im an absolute emotional wreck haha!
I also cried because i thought id bought a milk with no lid on, took me a good 15 minutes to realise the lid was in fact clear and the milk absolutely had a lid on- luckily it didn’t spill 😂

Glad im not alone!

LoathlyLady · 05/09/2022 22:04

👋 hi! New here, 9 weeks and feeling pretty terrible. Morning sickness has mostly passed but I am absolutely exhausted, seems to come in waves but by the end of the day it’s all I can do to get DS fed and to bed and then I’m OUT. Also feeling huge even though I haven’t gained much weight, it’s like really bad bloating, am I the only one?

Anyway needed to get on here and rant because as supportive as my family is I don’t think they really get how tired I am. I end up feeling guilty for doing less and having less energy, like this subtle feeling that my partner / parents think I’m being lazy. This could all be in my head, they are generally very supportive.. I guess I’m a teeeny bit hormonal?

ViMa1820 · 05/09/2022 22:13

Hi guys, I've been really bad at keeping up on here! Hope everyone is doing ok - all the scans sound amazing! I've got mine booked for next week when I'll be 9 weeks although I really can't afford it so not sure if I'll need to cancel it 😫

@LoathlyLady feeling exactly the same with exhaustion! Countdown to bed starts at 5pm and once the kids are asleep (I have two DDs) I am a useless heap. Hubby is as understanding as he can be but I just don't think the guys will ever get how it feels. And I feel like a broken record saying how tired I am all the time!

LoathlyLady · 05/09/2022 22:25

@ViMa1820 yes! It’s the repetition, makes me feel like I’m making it worse than it is. And every time I do say I’m tired or sick I get a distracted ‘oh no, why?’….err the fetus!! Amazed that you’re handling this with two little ones ✊

chasingtherainbow1 · 05/09/2022 22:59

@SavedByGraceAlone I had her spin injections due to history of a DVT when on the pill. I have to inject every day into my stomach. I have found it hurts less of you grab a good pinch of fat rather than just a little 😂 even so, my tummy is constantly covered in bruises from them

Victoria98 · 05/09/2022 23:27

Hi guys hope you don’t mind if I join, after having a miscarriage a few months back I am now pregnant again and due April 2023. Hard to get excited until I have a scan as I’m still worried somthing might go wrong 😬

Wisher88 · 05/09/2022 23:49

@Victoria98 I'm feeling the same. Every twinge I'm not sure if normal or if it's a miscarriage again.
Will be 7 wks on Wed. I've got a scan booked for Saturday and tempted to bring it forward so I can go sooner as I've had a lot of twinges to the front and to the right. Half expecting it to be ectopic. I don't know how ppl have the patience to just get on with it. Every day is a countdown until the next milestone to safety.

DBS94 · 06/09/2022 08:14

I'm heading for my first midwife appointment this morning, just reading the letter and it states no one is allowed to come with me due to Covid - I know there's been a few questions about this so just an FYI if you haven't had a letter through stating this then double check with your midwife. I'm in scotland though so could be different!

Feeling a bit nervous, still spotting on and off. Just trying to relax xx

alwaysseeingstars · 06/09/2022 08:30

@SavedByGraceAlone I've also just been told I have to start injections, but Fragmin due to previous blood clots. Not looking forward to it!!
@Victoria98 fingers crossed for you that this is your time, congrats!

SavedByGraceAlone · 06/09/2022 09:19

@DBS94, hope your appointment goes well and you hear lots of reassurance from a competent midwife. So rubbish you can't take anyone with you, I didn't realise that was the case!!

@alwaysseeingstars, ah so we're in the same boat! Did they tell you how long you need to do the injections for? Mine's until 23-26 weeks, which seems like ages. Did my very first one this morning - was v nervous and anxious, but actually it's not too bad. Quickly done and over with!

alwaysseeingstars · 06/09/2022 09:22

@SavedByGraceAlone ah no, she didn't mention when to stop - I think she just said throughout the pregnancy! Just waiting for the prescription to be done by the GP's so will hopefully get some guidance/answers then (also need higher strength folic acid and will need aspirin from 12 weeks). Thanks for the reassurance, that sounds promising! Do you do them in the stomach?

Yes, did it in the stomach sitting down. The nurse gave me very thorough instructions yesterday and we practiced with a pretend-injection on my stomach, so that was very helpful. Maybe ask them if they can also do a demonstration for you with a dummy!
Am also on aspirin - increased from 75mg to 150mg everyday.

Emeal123 · 06/09/2022 10:15

Tiredness is real today! I’m an agency worker so don’t get sick pay (or work paid maternity leave eeekkk) so I’m trying not to have a day off sick until I really need it but I’m flagging today!! 8+5 today x

Hope all needing injections it isn’t painful or difficult to do. My mum has to self-inject 3 times a week (not pregnancy related) and she alternates each thigh. She said she got used to it after the first couple of weeks just felt a bit daunting at first xx

Wouldloveanother · 06/09/2022 10:23

Just had my scan, all looking good & healthy. Baby measuring 9+1 (was 8+6 by my dates) could see its little limbs and heartbeat 🥰

Wisher88 · 06/09/2022 10:38

@Wouldloveanother aww that's wonderful news!
