@Tropicana1 nipples are so painful. Poor DS has a cold so whilst bf him he struggled a bit while lying down and accidentally bit me while bf! Was excruciating!

Wisher88 · 29/08/2022 22:24

I'm 5w 5ds and the "how many weeks" is still saying 2-3!? It's been saying that for two weeks.
Any ideas what's going on?
My HCG is definitely increasing based on how dark the lines are. Only difference being that I've done the weeks ones in the evening so possibly not as accurate?

RabbitJungle · 30/08/2022 06:42

@Wisher88 a) those tests indicate from conception/implantation not the first day of your last period (i.e. minus roughly 2 weeks); b) there is quite a jump needed in hcg levels to get you from 2-3 to 3 weeks, so it's common that people find they aren't moving to 3+ weeks when they think they should on paper; and c) they are also not always that unreliable, from what I hear! So try not to worry. Main thing is your strip tests are getting darker 🙃

RabbitJungle · 30/08/2022 06:43

Not always that *reliable

Theowlwhowasafraid · 30/08/2022 08:59

@Wisher88 don’t worry about the 2-3 still being there, it can take a while for 3+ and sometimes it never hits it! They can often cause worry when there needn’t be. I’ll attach a pic of the jump needed for 3+, it’s quite a lot!

I think somebody posted a while ago about symptoms coming and going? I’m 6+2 today and for the past two days my symptoms have basically disappeared - I was feeling quite nauseous and like I needed to eat every few hours before, and now I feel completely normal. I think my boobs are still quite sore but apart from that I just feel normal. It’s really worrying me, particularly as I’m away from home this week :(

Skylark1990 · 30/08/2022 09:51

Hi everyone, just checking in after a bit of a break from my phone over the long weekend as we went away for a short holiday. Had pretty bad nausea on and off throughout but the fresh air was good as we were camping!

7+6 today and have my scan later this week, really counting down the days now, hoping everything is OK. Still feeling very sicky. Have spewed twice in the last 3 or 4 days but actually spewing brings a bit of relief so kinda wish it was more often (though not too much more!)... expecting the sickness to ramp up over the next few weeks as it was worst between 8-12 weeks last time. 😓Is reassuring ofc....

@CinderellaFant Really happy for you!! Brilliant news :)

@AliceinSlumberland I stopped wearing normal bras early on in my DD pregnancy and I never went back haha still in non-wired ones now (admittedly still breastfeeding so am wearing breastfeeding bras or ones I can pull down easily but they're also just so much more comfy). You can invest in some good nursing/mat bras - get the ones that are for both pregnancy and bf as then you won't need to buy more once baby here. I was advised to buy one size up so they fit when your milk comes in.

@Theowlwhowasafraid I have not worn any jeans since about 4weeks 😅leggings or dresses all the way!

@Gilm0reGirl thanks for the travel advice - we are going on holiday when i am between 11-12 weeks so expecting to still be quite sick... have book marked your post! x

@Springblooms08 I came on to post the exact same thing. 6 weeks 3 days and all my symptoms are gone except my boobs are a bit sore. Really worried about my scan on Saturday as worried about a missed miscarriage and that’s why my symptoms haven’t progressed although I know logically that it can be totally normal to have none.

lj2022 · 30/08/2022 11:50

@Springblooms08 @AliceinSlumberland I've had this too think it was maybe me that posted. I went from being sick on Friday to nothing really since however I have had a little nausea again I think but it's very mild. My anxiety is through the roof with it but I've heard it's normal. I'm 8 weeks today and have my early scan on Thursday evening and it can't come quick enough @AliceinSlumberland I hope your scan goes well on Saturday

Wouldloveanother · 30/08/2022 11:56

Hi ladies, just catching up. Haven’t been on the thread for a few days as I’ve been completely floored by nausea/vomiting and a general feeling of being ill. I’m signed off work for the foreseeable and not able to do much bar lie down and scroll on my phone to stay distracted and nap. It’s pretty miserable to be honest. I went skiing when I was 10 weeks with DD and remember vomiting but not feeling ‘ill’, whereas I know I definitely did at 8 weeks at my booking appointment. So hoping this will follow a similar pattern. I can deal with occasional vomiting but it’s all very oppressive at the moment.

Skylark, when is your scan? Mine is a week today. DH is still panicking about twins, not helped by my Nan who gleefully informed him we have 6 sets of twins on our side of the family 😕 including 2 sets born to the same person! Imagine…

@Wisher88 i did a post about these flipping tests when they scared me a few weeks ago. In essence, I worked out a woman with average hcg levels wouldn’t get 3+ until something like 5+4 if she was lucky… the range between the thresholds for 2-3 and 3+ is massive, plus you’re supposed to use first morning urine as per the instructions - so evening wee is likely to mess with that!

Wouldloveanother · 30/08/2022 11:58

SavedByGraceAlone · 28/08/2022 19:59

Sorry about the TMI, but I need to ask! Has anyone had a bleeding from the bottom in early pregnancy? 🫣
It's the second time now I've got bright red blood when wiping. Terrified me at first, but established it's definitely from the rear not the front, which is better news, but not exactly pleasant! 😅

Me. It scared me too, I had to work I out where it was coming from! I haven’t been able to eat much fibre because of the nausea and have been sticking to toast etc, so it’s made me constipated. Hope you’re ok - soft tissue helps! 😬 and drinking lots of water.

Skylark1990 · 30/08/2022 12:15

Hi @Wouldloveanother my scan is on Thursday. Definitely counting down the hours now! Sorry you are feeling so ill, hope that it starts to lift in the next couple of weeks!

@SavedByGraceAlone I haven't had this myself yet but if you are constipated and that is what is causing it, you could try lactulose. It's a stool softener and is safe in pregnancy. Piles are quite common in pregnancy!

Skylark how many weeks are you? I've got a scan on Thursday too and im hoping to be 7 weeks exactly by then x

Skylark1990 · 30/08/2022 12:20

@Emsinmonaco2022 I will be 8+1 if my dates are correct! Best of luck for yours. Is it morning or afternoon? Mine's in the morning which is a small blessing 😅

So much luck! It will go brilliantly I'm sure. Mine is morning too, luckily as my nausea only gets worse as the day goes on plus means we don't have time to worry about it. X

Lunabun · 30/08/2022 12:55

Just been for my booking blood tests etc🥰

The bounty bags have gotten stingy haven't they?! 🤣

alwaysseeingstars · 30/08/2022 12:56

Hi all, just having a catch up - such a busy thread! 😊
I'm approx 7+4 today, still no nausea/vomiting which I'm surprised by but very bloated and tired.
I was so annoyed yesterday - I decided to do some baking to try and distract myself, made a battenberg from scratch for the first time - made the sponge, started making the marzipan and only then did it dawn on me that I can eat it because of raw egg whites - what a muppet!!! So DH has a whole cake to eat 😂
Hope everyone is feeling OK, @Wouldloveanother sorry to read you're struggling so much.. hope it clears soon!

I only had food aversions until 7 weeks on the dot; then the sickness literally hit me out of nowhere. I basically haven’t left the house since. There’s still time! It was the same with DD - 7 weeks on the dot.

Skylark1990 · 30/08/2022 13:20

@alwaysseeingstars you can eat raw egg whites if they are lion assured (if you are UK based!)! that sounds incredibly impressive - well done! I'm trying to convince my DH to make a brownie or chocolate cake as we get eggs delivered -I usually have poached eggs most mornings for breakfast but I can't stomach them atm - so we have about 5 full egg cartons in the fridge atm 😅

OP posts:
alwaysseeingstars · 30/08/2022 13:24

@Skylark1990 ohh, I didn't know that! I just did a quick google and saw not safe but didn't look any further - they're definitely lion assured so thank you!
Could you stomach scrambled eggs with only a tiny bit of butter? When I've been ill in the past I've managed that so long as they're quite dry 😊

Skylark1990 · 30/08/2022 13:32

@alwaysseeingstars no prob - I think in most places the advice is no raw egg but it says on the NHS guidance about what we can eat in pregnancy that lion assured are fine :)

Good idea re scrambled eggs... I could poss stomach some... hmmm not sure 😅

Argh I'm just feeling so tired and slow at work today, it's really dragging and the nausea is a constant friend. Defo gets worse as the day goes on for me!

OP posts:
ancienthouse · 30/08/2022 13:44

I've been struggling the past few days because I've gone off pretty much all food so I'm not eating or drinking much, and I only feel OK if I'm lying down still. Walking around makes me retch but I've only been sick once. I forgot how much I dislike the first trimester and keep questioning why I'm doing this all over again!! I don't know how people with HG cope, I hate this stupid nausea.

Wouldloveanother · 30/08/2022 14:01

I’m not eating much either Ancient, I think I’ve lost about 5lb. Today I’ve had 2 rounds of toast and a bottle of sprite. Its so muggy here as well, all I want is some cold/fresh air to make me feel a bit better but I’m stuck in a clammy bedroom with the curtains closed, trying to keep the sun out.

@BecksLouise
@Skylark1990
@Brunette1652

Glad it gave you some good ideas, I hope you have lovely trips that its nausea free for us all.

I just got off the phone with a lovely doula that I'd like to hire for this pregnancy and birth. She was fantastic, I'll have to give the husband a brown paper bag when I tell him how much of an investment she is, but I've been saving for a while for her and after our last experience he has backed me all the way in getting one this time.

Has any one else had one or is getting one this time?
